What would you do? dental question?

Today my crown that I have had since I was in the 4th grade(14 yrs ago) broke off. I do not have dental insurance because I just finished school and have not started a job. The tooth is in the back ( not visible) and does not really hurt. I don't know if I need to get the nub removed or leave it until I have money to do something else. I am a little worried that if I remove the "nub" and cannot do anything else with the space like a bridge or implant that my teeth will shift. I am very unsure about what to do. Also any suggestions on dental insurance that I can afford on an interns salary would be perfect.
--------------------
See a dentist and hopefully it can be re-cemented, which is inexpensive. Explain your current situation with the dentist, he will try to make the crown fit back on if at all possible. By the way, all crowned "teeth" look like nubs. If you can see it then most likely your in good shape. Don't wait too long on having this done since the other teeth will drift. Good luck!

how many hospital visits does ur insurance allow a year cuz i went 3 times in 2 months?

and does dental insurance affect regualar insurance like does hospital and dental go on same bill for insurance or its different

You need to read the terms of your specific policy. No one here can possibly know your coverage. Dental insurance is separate from health (medical) insurance.

Insurance for my company and personal insurance for me?

I am opening up a boutique and of course I'm going to need to provide benefits to the employee(s) Medical, Vision, Dental all that. Who is the best provider. It is a high class boutique, things like Miu Miu, Dolce and Gabbanna, Dior etc. I've also been looking for a good insurance provider for myself with Medical, Vision, Dental. etc the thing is, with most Insurance providers your very limited to certain doctors and such and there isn't much of a variety to chose from. and I really want to give my employees the best that I can. any good suggestions?

First of all that is my favorite place on earth. I need to go check out Winn's new resort. Anyway. the following site has a fantastic free comparison quote feature wher you can see side by side quotes from the leading insurance companies. Then you can compare coverages and rates and make an informed decision. Good luck with your business

friend needs dental work, no insurance?

what can she do? she lives in MD, said she needs exstensive work done, and the dentist said he couldn't help, she is only one of 98% of people who have the same prob.
--------------------
Is there any possibility that she's eligible for medicaide or social assistance (i.e., welfare, Jewish Family Services ... she doesn't need to be Jewish to get help!)? That would be the first thing I'd check into, if I were her. There are some dentists that work with a program (I forget the name) that finances dental work...kind of like a credit card, but only for dentists. She might look into that too. Finally, she might check with local dental colleges. A lot of them will do low-cost or free dental work in trade for the experience. It may not be the BEST option, but its better than nothing at all. This is one link I found: http://www.oea.umaryland.edu/gov/communi…

I NEED teeth implants... My Husband has just joined the airforce and I need to know if the Insurance will cover Teeth Implants... I was born and got all my BABY teeth but when it was time for Adult teeth I was missing 12... Everyone in my family has there teeth.. Well I wear a retainer with a metal bar acrossed my teeth with fake teeth attached but I need real teeth.. Implants.. Does anyone know if The military insurance will cover it?
--------------------
Once your husband gets into the military and buys dental insurance you will be able to get implants... The one bad thing about our dental is that you will have a pretty big co pay for certain work done to your teeth.

Insurance problem.m a dental doctor, I did some implants of a patient almost a year ago,?

Here is what happened: Im a dental doctor, I did some implants of a patient almost a year ago, at that time he said he didn't had any insurance and he paid us cash, coz it was my earlier part of dental practice, so I gave him a lot of discounts and all that. Now after 9,10 months that patient said that he had an insurance(so basically he lied earlier) and we should file the claim to his insurance for all that treatment he had that time. Since he has a very poor insurance plane so if we do that now we will have to pay him back a lot since his insurance cover very little in dental portion. I called his insurance and they said we have to file the claim, this is our only option. Any help?
--------------------
You have no obligation to file an insurance claim on his behalf. Additionally, once six months are past, most insurers won't accept the claim. You need to put his account through collections. Sue him for it. He lied, about the insurance. Now he'll have to pay.

Does anyone know where I can find a discount dental plan??

My employer does not offer dental insurance, and I have a horrible cavity that needs to be folled, and I dont think I can afford to pay for it all, I need some kind of discount plan or card. Can anyone help????
--------------------
You have four options with dental. 1. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you and actually they do a very good job. 2. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With insurance you pay $414 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. Visit a local independent agent for help finding a plan. 3. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With discount plans you pay around $746. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… concerning these plans. 4. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

Can you get a payment plan from a dentist, even if you have insurance?

I have cavities that I need filled and one really sensitive tooth, but I don't have the money to pay for it all. I'm planning on getting insurance through Humana Dental, but even with it I can't afford it. What are the chances of getting a payment plan with insurance?
--------------------
I could only do it by having my teeth fixed beforehand, in other words the dentist would only start the plan when he was satisfied that there was no work to be done.

I have to get some dental work done and I need advice!!!?

I am 33 and I have 2 teeth (eye tooth and next 1 closer to the front) on the bottom that need work. I do not have dental insurance and funds are limited. My options are to get root canals and crowns on both (which I'm not sure I can afford) or to get them extracted and get a partial with would be cheaper so that is the direction I am leaning. I am a mother of 5 and can not see spending an excessive amount of money on my teeth.
--------------------
I guess the pros and cons are: -Crowns look much more natural, although a well-made denture isn't too bad. The teeth in question are near the front, but perhaps your lower lip covers them anyhow when you smile? -It would be easier to chew with the crowns than the partial-Your canine teeth have long roots and are key teeth in sensing your bite so it's good to keep them when you can. Functionally speaking, a denture is a good substitute for NO teeth, and not a very good substitute for real teeth. -The feel of wearing a partial denture on the bottom at the front can take a bit of getting used to -Partial dentures are cheaper, and easier to clean than flossing real teeth -If you have problems with other teeth too, the denture can be made so that if you have other extractions in the future it can be modified to add more teeth -There is no guarantee as to how long the root canal and crown is likely to last. There is a small chance that after spending the money on the crowns, in a few years you may need an extraction anyhow. From your post, you seem to be leaning toward the partial denture, since cost is a major factor. That is the decision that a lot of people would make, so do what you think is best for your situation and you won't go wrong!

When will I get TriCare insurance?

My hubby is in AIT school right now and I was just wondering when will I get TriCare insurance? I haven't gotten any paper work or anything on it(I did get paperwork for dental insurance a while ago). I am under my own insurance for now but I'd like to know when I will get it. Thanks!
--------------------
Your Tricare coverage started the first day you were entered into DEERS. You are on Tricare Standard where you go to a civilian provider and have a yearly deductible and a co-pay for each visit. If you want to change to Tricare Prime then you must have your military ID card and change through the closest office. With Prime there is no co pay or deductible and you are seen at a Military Clinic or Hospital. http://www.tricare.mil If you have your own insurance then Tricare is secondary and will pay whatever isn't covered by your insurance. If you want Tricare to be the prime carrier then you need to drop the other insurance. You will not get anything in the mail unless you sign up for Prime. You just need to go to the website find a provider there and tell them your husband's SSN.

My job is trying to take out money from my check for my dental/vision insurance all at once!?

I work at a Dr's office and we have Unitedhealthcare ins. they pay for the medical and we are responsible for dental/vision, which is supposed to get taken out of our checks every pay period. The problem is since the beginning of this year we changed over to another ins. company and payroll, and the lady that is handling the ins. hasn't sent over the paperwork about our ins. (dental/vision) to the lady that does our pay roll. The manager said that when the money starts getting taken out of our check they will take out from the previous months all at once, so this will be quite a bit of money at one time out of our check. I just want to know if anyone knows if they are allowed to do this it does not seem right to me for us to be punished for someone else's mistake.
--------------------
Yes that's allowed. You had the coverage for those previous months and they are entitled to get paid for that. Since you know it's coming - start setting aside a little money from each pay check. That way, when the deduction happens - it does not hurt you so bad. It also sounds like its a one time thing. Then it goes back to being a monthly deduction.

Where can I get dental work with no insurance?

Hi does anyone know where to go to get dental work done at a low cost with no insurance....I have called parkland and they are not taking appointments until March 2009 and I have been told to call Baylor but it is busy and says they only take appointments on Wednesday....it is busy all the time..not sure if you can just go up there and wait? I need a root canal on my lower bottom tooth but I am at the point where they can pull this thing out!!! Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe a visit to this site will help: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands of dollars. From extractions, xrays, cleanings..etc. All services are included in this very affordable plan. I want to have dental cosmetic work done but can't afford it. What should I do?

My insurance does not cover cosmetic dental work, most do not. And, unfortunately I do not earn enough money to pay out of pocket and my credit will not allow me to finance this procedure. Any suggestions? ~Want a killer smile!!
--------------------
hey if you would have posted a picture of your teeth i could have estimated how much it would have cost. What you can do is go to Mexico to get your stuff done, its alot cheaper and some people prefer their work better than U.S. dental work, thats one possibility, another way if that you can apply for care credit, as long as you own a car(or something) your eligible, its a credit card(90 days of interest free and you can go with 5,6,7 month payment plan with interest levels really low) only for dental and medical uses, nothing else(no clothes, shoes, food, etc) and every dental and medical office accepts it(they pay what you owe and you pay them), your third possibility if to wait until i get out of dental school and i wont charge you much for "a killer smile"lol

What is the best dental plan for getting implants?

I need to get some dental implants, and I do not have insurance. Can anyone point me in the right Direction on what would be the best dental plan to cover as much as possible
--------------------
Most of the people answering this question don't know what they're talking about. I've had two employer sponsored dental plans and they both covered implants. Aetna and Metlife. They usually cover about 50% of the implant cost. They also cover the restorative part. Unfortunately they cap yearly coverage at around $1200.00 so if you want to use the insurance to it's fullest advantage you have the implant done in the latter part of the year and have the crown done the following year. If you're purchasing insurance on your own it would probably be too expensive to take out a policy that covers implants. If you're employed and your employer offers a medical spending account you may want to put money away for next year and plan the implant for after the first of the year. It's before tax money so no taxes are paid on it and you can access the full amount after Jan 1st of next year.

How does someone get insurance to go overseas for medical care?

Many people go out of the UK for dental treatment or other surgery. But all travel insurance won't cover the trip if this is the reason
--------------------
Whatever your reasons for going abroad, you may be entitled to medical care at reduced cost or sometimes free. Your entitlement will vary based on whether you're going to an European Economic Area country (EEA) or elsewhere in the world

Is it legal to use two types of insurance?

I'm an 18yr old college student and i'm being offered insurance at my new job, and i have insurance from my dad. Both of the dental plans pay 50% of the total cost. If i get the insurance at my job, could I use both and get 100% of the costs paid?
--------------------
Coordination of benefits between 2 policies don't work that way. Usually, if there are two, if one pays 50% and the other pays 50%, you would only get a total benefit of 50%. They will only pick up a balance up to the maximum benefit that one would have paid. If one had an 80% benefit, then one would pay 50% and the other would pay an additional 30% to make up what they normally would have paid if there were only one policy.
