I need 6 teeth bridge to replace 3 teeth bridge & two capped teeth. Pls suggest an ind. dental plan, tulsa, ok?

I have had missing teeth since birth. My current dentist says that an insurance won't cover, because they said it would be fraud, for they will only cover what you currently have. I need to change plans if I can do the other.

Try calling the Tulsa Cosmetic Dental Center and speak to them about your options. They are very helpful and will be able to assist your situation.

I need dental advice?

I have not been to a dentist in many years because of no dental problems and no insurance. Just recently I have a on & off problem with my bottom front tooth and gum being sore. It goes away when I take asprins, but tends to come back again . I cant afford a dentist at this time. Any ideas what the problem could be?
--------------------
Idk cuz I'm no dentist but if I were u I would really go now while tha pain is not too bad and can b controled a lot better..no insurance? ur not tha first I'm sure they have other patients who have tha same problem..go 4 a cleaning and exams and have tha dentist take a look then..some times they have new patient specials that include xrays and a cleaning and often a exam too all for maybe 25-35 bucks (depending on area and practice too). Also, u can call tha office and explain to them u need and want to b seen for a check up and cuz u are having some pain and just let them know u dh insurance and if they could work with on a payment plan..b honest with them about how much u can afford to pay and make sure u pay on time (this helps them trust u a lil more and that u need in tha long run..never know what else will come up).U can check into some dental schools too it's a lot cheaper but it takes a lot more time too so, personally I would go with finding a dentist who understands ur needs and concern and one who is willing to help u. I would make a appt for a cleaning xrays and exam and pay for that in cash and full (idt u can pay half any way) and then go from there about ur pain and what could b going on and see first if they can set up a payment plan for u..if not get a small loan (only how much u need to treat tha problem) and then pay that off lil at a time..don't get one unless they can not work with u. If u need to talk more send me a email..I'm no dentist but I can try and help u as much as I can.

Do full-time, long-term, temporary jobs offer benefits...or does it depend on the company?

In my case, it would be with a large organization in which I already work for. However, I'm on the lower spectrum of things and hope this temporary job would help prove to people I have skills in other areas. I guess I have to hired first and I could always ask, but I was just wondering if anyone on here had experience with this. And by benefits, all I mean is health, dental, vision insurance.
--------------------
The last two temp companies I worked for both offered benefits. (of course they were completely self pay and not that great, but hey, they were better than nothing!) You can just call the agency at their main line and simply ask if they do and what the requirements are, and they will tell you. My first one required I be on the assignment for at least 30 days full time, and the current one made me wait 90 days, but both gave me the benefits:-) good luck!

Help I Live in Texas and Have No Insurance and my teeth are going to kill me if I don't get them pulled..?

I live in Texas and I have no income (my partner supports us) I have no car and No Insurance. My teeth are very bad and about to become a major health hazard. I cannot afford to see the dentist about dentures let alone pay for that procedure. Can anyone give me a direction on how I might be able to get dental care being uninsured and low income in Central Texas (Killeen area) Thank You.
--------------------
Well, you do have some options. I'm not from the Texas area, but based on what I would tell you about my area, you should be able to cross-apply some of this. First, you can consider going to a local dental school. Here you will be able to have the procedures done for a lesser amount that you could at your typical dentist's office. Second, consider going to a local hospital, especially one that serves lower income areas. Many hospitals have a dental department in them, and those dentists would also be able to treat you for less than a typical dentist's office. Third, you can consider applying for outside financing. If you (or your partner, or anyone close to you) has decent credit, you can try to apply for a few different programs. All the programs work the same: you charge out an amount, and the dentist's office will pay your interest rate so you pay no interest on the charged amount. For example, you could have a $1200 procedure done at 12 months interest free. That makes your payments $100 per month, which is better than trying to pay $1200 at once. One program is called Care Credit, another is the Citi Health Card, and a final one is through Capital One. Finally, you can just go to a dentist's office and see if they will work with you. Let them know your situation and see if they can help you. They may give you a discount or even give you very manageable payments. I know of one person that is paying off $25 per month on a $1,000 balance. It's all she can do, and the dentist's office was very understanding. You never know until you try, and you'll never know until you ask.

Insurance/benefits question?

Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Health Plans, Dental Plans, Drug plans, Just how does all this stuff work? I'm only 16 but I want to learn this stuff ahead of time.
--------------------
Relax. Don't smoke or do drugs. Don't drink alcohol. Avoid trans-fats. Exercise regularly. Brush (soft bristles) your teeth twice a day. Get a good education. When you get a full-time job and are self-supporting, then you can worry about the other stuff. Your employer will tell you what plans are available, what they cover and what they cost. If you're working now, invest in a Roth IRA. I suggest you look at Vanguard's S&P 500 Index fund. If you can get $12,000 invested before you are 24, you will never have any retirement worries.

Can l grow back my gums?I begin to see receding gums on couple of my teeth and begin to worry.

Does using mouthwash help? What about Listerine? Will the chemicals in them make it worst for my gums?I don't want to make this problem worst because l don't have dental insurance. I already brush twice a day,and using a store brand mouth wash. What brand of mouthwash, tooth brush/tooth paste work best to prevent further damage? What does a dentist do to make gums grow back( like gingivists)?
--------------------
When receding gums occur the result will be is that the root surface is exposed. Gum breakdown or gum recession is a process that can be progressive and gradually expose more root surface. And added to that, severe recession can endanger that tooth's long-term survival. Dental appointments can help maintain the stability of periodontal health and prevent problems that are still minor before they become major ones. Dental instructions and good oral hygiene habits should be given utmost importance. When gum disease is treated properly and gum health is maintained. long lasting, healthy teeth and gums are expected to be end result. for more tips on gum health care visit http://www.oramd.co.uk

If dental care cost is a little over $1,000?

In Maryland, even with insurance my dental care estimate came out to be over $1,000 for something like periodental, deep scalding and up to 6 cavities. Should I go for a 2nd opinion or just settle with the 1st dentist? 1st dentist is a member of a group practice. Would it be more expensive to go to a private practioner in Maryland?
--------------------
Sorry, but that estimate does sound , well, average. I just had a dental bill of $950 and that was for one root canal in a tooth with only one canal! Besides, when it comes to dentistry, go with the doc that you are comfortable with working on your teeth.

How to negotiate dental fees?

I asked this question earlier this month and the answers went into voting before I got a chance to thank the people who helped me with their replies. I wanted to let you know the outcome to my situation. To summarize my original question: My dentist stated I needed a porcelain crown that would cost $1900. I asked if there were any alternatives, and he said no because the silver amalgam was leaking. My insurance would cover $390. The office manager said I should not delay too long to get the crown done or else I could end up needing a root canal. I decided to look for more affordable dental treatments, and considered the dental school where the crown would cost $780. I asked for a copy of the x-rays, and the office manager at the dentist's office seemed upset and asked me if I was going for a second opinion, and also didn't want to give me the copy, but to directly send the x-rays to the second dentist. I told her I didn't have a second dentist set up yet.
--------------------
I'm glad to hear of your good result. Unfortunately there is a minority of dentists who are more driven by profit than ethics. And this is the same for ANY occupation. I'll share my experience some years ago of signing up with a dental management team. Altho some of their ideas were very useful for organising my practice, their treatment ethos was rapacious. I have a colleague who has used the same team and embraced all their techniques. He has turned into an unscrupulous, money-mad scumbag. He also has aggressive front-desk techniques. Thank you for sharing your experiences here with everyone. Not every dentist is like your original fellow. When looking for a dentist, always ask for recommendations from relatives and freinds; don't be afraid to ask questions; don't be afraid to seek second opinions. Best wishes.

I have very slight sensitivity in one of my molar teeth...would I need a root canal?

I have been without dental insurance for almost 2 years now. I think I can see a tiny black spot on my tooth and I have just recently noticed on and off slight sensitivity in that tooth. I know it's probably a cavity, but since I can feel a sensitivity would that automatically mean that it has hit the nerve and I would need a root canal?
--------------------
Slight sensitivity is not an indicator that a root canal is needed. Swelling, constant severe pain. not being able to tap or bite on the tooth, these are symptoms of more severe problems that would need a root canal. But get the cavity fixed before it gets worse and you do need a root canal.

my impacted wisdom tooth has my gums swollen what can I do to stop the swelling and pain?

Common sense says hurry to a good dentist and get them pulled. They can become very infected and cause abscesses. That's bad. I had one once. Do it now.

How much should it cost?

To get all four of my wisdom teeth removed? My work doesn't offer dental insurance so I already figured I'm f***ed... But how much should I plan on setting aside?
--------------------
You can go to dentafford.com. You pay a minimal amount each month and find a particpating oral surgeon. This cuts the cost in half. I was supposed to pay $400 for one impacted tooth, which is $1600 for all four. With the plan I only paid $200 a tooth. Good luck.

what if you're poor can't afford a dentist but also don't want some guy who is learning to destroy you?

let's just say, if you dont have dental insurance and your in need of a dentist what do those guys do then? dentist really turn them away ? i mean do dentist now do pro bono ? anyone on any insight?
--------------------
I've been going to a dental school clinic for about eight months now, and I've gotten five fillings from my assigned student, and four more from two others in their licensing exams. Seriously? The biggest phobia factor at the clinic is listening to the students ask what sound like silly questions. I deal with that by reminding myself that the really dangerous docs are the ones that think they know everything and thus aren't paying attention. Also - clinics have built in second opinions - everyone can miss something once, but when two people look at it... Usual clinic filling procedure - All my cavities were identified in an initial appointment to document and give me a treatment plan, so the student usually plans out which one he is doing based on how deep it appeared and how long he has for my appointment. I show up, he takes a quick look, calls over an instructor to give a run-through of the procedure, double check that it makes sense given the cavities location (I prefer tooth-colored fillings, for example, but they aren't as structurally sound, so the instructor might veto one as being borderline dangerous). At beginning of year, I was one of the students first patients, so he had to call an instructor back over as soon as he got the dental dam in my mouth, to check that he did it right. Now he is a senior, he can go ahead and drill. Once he has the 'prep' done - he's cleaned out the cavity of decay, and is prepared to put a filling in - he calls over an instructor. First tooth he did, the instructor confirmed that it was in need of a root canal, waaay too deep to leave alone, but disagreed with the students thought that it was an emergency. Since then, it has just been a good moment for the instructor to give advice on the precise shape of a filling, to make it stay put best, while covering their butts by double checking that the student isn't ignoring obvious decay. He puts the filling in, hardens it, smooths it out, depending on location even polishes it, calls over an instructor to approve the final result. Really, ya gotta remember that the students are operating under the license of the instructors on the clinic floor, and the instructors are legally responsible. Occasionally I end up waiting quite a bit for the instructors to come round, but they hover over procedures that worry them, or even take over from the student if they think it requires an expert hand. That happened in my root canal - apparently my family has extremely long roots and the instructor wanted to be certain that the whole thing was cleaned out thoroughly, but gently. So he took over. Remember that the ones with the doctor in front of their names cover their butts.

should i be worried about dental death?

I have horrible teeth and am finally seeing a dentist, after several years of no insurance.... I met somebody once, who worked for a dental group, who gave me a frightening statistic: that "250,000 people die every year undergoing dental procedures". Is that acurate? Im really concerned. Ive got tons and tons of dental damage, and i have heart problems, that i take medication for. Should i be concerned about dying while having my dental work done???!!!
--------------------
Huh. That sounds like an awfully high number... Have you ever heard the quote, "90% of all statistics are made up on the spot?" I think that might be an appropriate statement in this situation. That being said... make sure you are completely honest when filling out your medical history with your dentist. Some heart conditions require that you take an antibiotic prior to any dental treatment to prevent what is called "bacterial endocarditis." Basically, you get a dose of antibiotic to stop any bacteria/infection before it has a chance to travel to your heart. Actually, having heart problems makes it MORE IMPORTANT for you to take care of your dental health. A lot of people do not realize that your mouth and your heart are directly connected. Gum disease is directly linked to heart disease, and by maintaining GOOD oral health can help with your heart problems... Good luck. Take care of your mouth. You will feel better and your overall health will improve! I promise!

Is it possible to combine health insurance plans?

Heres the thing I already have health, dental, and vision insurance from work. It provides for me and my wife. It is a very comprehensive plan but if i go to a doctor i have to pay $15 bucks (small fee) and other relativley small copays. Now my wife got a new job about a while ago and is finally being offered a health plan. She gets to choose and we're thinking to get the plan that covers hospital procedures with a 0 copay but doesnt cover doctor visits or drugs. my plan has about a $100 deductible on drugs and $500 for hospital visits. so between both of them we pretty much got everything covered.
