Wisdom teeth removal, dental or health insurance?

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield for health insurance and Metlife for dental. I have one wisdom tooth thats grown in and three that haven't. I'm not sure if i have the three surgically remove, if that would be covered under my dental or health insurance. Does anyone know?

The claim for the extractions will be sent to Met Life first.. if the wisdom teeth are what's called 'boney impactions', then the claim can be sent to BC/BS for coordination of benefits... the 'boney impactions' are covered under your medical insurance.... Best of luck~

Why is it so hard to get medical and dental services covered by insurance?

It seems like every time I need something done, a filling, a blood test, whatever, I have to jump through hoops to get things covered by insurance. I mean, if I didn't need it, the doctor would not be recommending it, right? I am so tired of being the go-between for doctors and health insurance companies. I spend days just calling back and forth, why can't they just communicate and cover the things I need? I pay $300 a month for health insurance!

The advent of managed care has been the bane of existence for patients and medical professionals alike for the past several years. Unfortunately, it's likely here to stay.

Can anyone recommend a good dental insurance company that offers orthodontic coverage? ?

I have to get braces for my daughter and would like to get a good dental plan for her so that I can get as much the cost for her braces covered as possible. I know that there are few good plans out there that cover any significant amount when it comes to braces, but there must be one or two out there that are the best for orthodontia services. HELP!!!

I would encourage you to visit this site: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up 5 years ago when I was in college for my braces and they have saved me thousands since. My braces cost me only $2200 total. From cleanings, root canals, xrays...etc. All services are included in this very affordable plan. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. Hope this helps.

How much would a dental checkup be without insurance ?

I'm a college student that's never been to the dentist. I currently don't have dental coverage and was wondering how much would the dental bill be if I just went for a checkup?
--------------------
With out x rays (which you need to have done if it has been a while) around $60. Add another $65 for the x-rays. good luck.

One place you can check is thru the county health dept to see if they offer free dental clinics. You can also check thru a Dental School if one is close by because they also offer services to help those that have no dental insurance.
