Will my dental insurance cover the cost of fillings for my cavities?
I have a couple cavities and will be going to the dentist this Monday. I have Tricare as my dental insurance. They cover: diagnostic and preventative services, basic restorative services(fillings) and other surgeries. This is what it says on their site and I just want someone to make this clear for me. Do I have to pay 20% of the cost or is is that only for requests? Resin/Composite Fillings Cost-Share Under the TDP program, basic restorative procedures (fillings) have a cost-share of 20 percent for the member with United Concordia paying the remaining 80 percent when the care is received from a TDP network provider. The most common materials used for fillings are amalgam (silver) and composite resin (tooth-colored). What is Covered? Under the TDP, the covered benefit for posterior (back) fillings is amalgam (silver). If the dentist and member select resin for back teeth fillings, the member must pay the difference between what the silver fillings would have cost and how much the resin costs. Resin fillings are covered for anterior (front) teeth only. For example, a family member needs a filling on a back tooth. The dentist places a silver filling at the allowable reimbursement rate of $100. Under the TDP, United Concordia pays 80 percent or $80 cost-share and the member pays a 20 percent cost or $20 cost-share. If the dentist places a resin filling on a posterior tooth at the member's request and bills $140, United Concordia still pays only $80 (the 80 percent cost-share for a silver filling). The member now pays $60 (the $20 cost for the silver filling and the additional $40 in billed charges).

Is a root canal considered "dental surgery" according to dental insurance companies?
I'll try to make this short. I was covered by my mom's insurance when I was in school and had to get a dental onlay because I had a major cavity that came on in a very short time between cleanings. I went through a period of being uninsured then I started coverage on myself through my work as of January 1st, and in the time that I was uninsured like late in the last year, my onlay became loose. It doesn't bother me at all but I'm going to go back to the same dentist that did that procedure because luckily I can do that with my new insurance. However, I'm afraid that if the cavity progressed to far I may need a root canal. My insurance says it covers 80% on the following: fillings, minor restoration, endodontics and dental surgery. It covers 50% on crowns, dentures and partials. In general is the root canal treatment included in dental surgery? (I know the crown is separate/not included) Thanks... I'm asking because I'm having issues with the website and the 1-800 automated line only gives me basic info on my coverage, like what I told you above.

So be prepared to pay about around 150 to 200 dollars depending on how much your dentist charges for root canals and the difficulty of the case. Where to get dental care with no insurance? NYC?
I have no dental insurance, and an impacted wisdom tooth and possibly vingervitus (sp?). I haven't been to a dentist in about 2 years, and it's pretty urgent that I get to one. I live in East Harlem but I can travel to anywhere in the city. Are there special dental clinics for people with no insurance or just a dentist that won't cost me an arm and a leg?

Dental Problem and No Insurance!?
I have an impacted wisdom tooth and it's causing me extreme pain. The tooth itself isn't, it's the gum around it. I can't eat hardly and it hurts to open my mouth. I live in Sumter, Sc and none of the doctors will take me because I don't have dental insurance or a large amount of money to pay at once. Also a few of the have something call carecredit, well I've been turned down by that. I will go to Columbia, SC if I have to. Can anyone give me advice? Only serious people please answer, I'm in pain and do not feel like reading dumb answers. Thank You.

It's infected. To help relieve some or all of the pain I would suggest the following: 1 teaspoon of baking soda + 1 teaspoon of salt + small amount of water = paste you rub that on and around the gum area where it is infected. You can also try swishing warm salt water around your mouth a few times daily as this will help as well. If you are not allergic to bananas I would also recommend eating those as well since they are a natural form of penicillin which will help kill your infection. I hope this helps you out a bit until you can find a better solution to have it pulled. Is there a really good dental insurance out there that covers implants and bridges?
My current insurance only covers $1500 a year of dental procedures... I think. It's Delta Dental and provided through my employer. I pay about $2 a week for it. As of right now, I am going to need either implants or bridges to replace four teeth, all molars. I do NOT want any embarrassing dentures or obvious dental work that everyone will be able to pinpoint. My dentist is regarded as one of the best in the area from what I hear, and offers all the state of the art procedures. Unfortunately, from what I've been reading, it seems that to replace four teeth, I might be looking at a dental bill in the neighborhood of $10,000. I could afford that, if it's in a payment plan over a few years... even at 4 years, that's like $200 a month... very expensive.

Is there ANY insurance that will cover my particular dental work?
I am 23 and have had crooked teeth all my life, I finally saved up 5-6k to get braces started, but the orthodontist dropped a bomb on me and said I needed oral surgey, 30,000 dollars worht of it. I got a second opinion and it was about the same. My insurance is Aflac and they won't cover it because they consider it cosmetic surgery, but I have never been confident about my smile and it has always held me back in everything. I was so excited about finally getting them started and now I am back to square one. My teeth are not mildly crooked, they are very very out of place and on top of that I have a severe and uncomfortable overbite, to assume this is just for cosmetics is retarted to me. Someone please tell me there is an organization or insurance or something anything that can at least help me get started, I'm a college student so going into more debt is not a fun idea to me, Thanx for any answers.
