Hi, I would encourage you to visit this great site: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands of dollars since on all services. From root canals, xrays, extractions, fillings...etc. Even my braces had coverage. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use them the very same day. Good luck

Do You Know Any Affordable NY/NJ Dental/Health Insurance Plans?
My father's company insurance plan will no longer cover me as a dependent. I need to find some sort of dental/health insurance of my own. My status is as follows: I live in NY My parents live in NJ I am self-employed out of MD My father claims me as a dependent on his taxes I am presently a part-time student...and will be a full-time student in Fall 2008. What can I do with this...to make something happen? :-)

Check with your University. They probably have an affordable healthcare plan or if you want to gamble set up your own medical savings account and pay for your bills cash. Most doctors will give you a discount of like 25% for not having to do any paperwork. Actuarialists will tell you that insurance is a joke until you hit 42 when the incidents of claims begin to rise. Up until then they are making money off of you for nothing. Calculate what you spend for drugs and doctor's appointments without insurance versus what you pay for insurance plus co pay and what you learn is that you pay more for insurance than you do for drugs and doctors visits. But then again, if you find out that I am wrong in your case, check out the University or get another job solely for the insurance. Personal insurance is a ripoff. Group insurance is the way to go. The University qualifies as a group.

Does dental insurance pay for braces?
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia

Most insurance companies will cover some of the cost, up to age 18 (like if you're on your parent's plan). After age 18, you are usually on your own. I think they assume that if you're over age 18, you are choosing to do it for cosmetic reasons (b/c it wasn't done when you were younger). In fact, even the coverage before age 18 doesn't cover that much of the cost. My hubs works for a very large insurance company, and our dental coverage covers up to $1000 yearly, for up to 3 years, if you're under 18. After that, it's not covered (straight out of pocket). Call the member services number on your health care id card, and they will give you your plan's specific coverages. Good luck.

Pediatrician appointment with no insurance- do you pay before your visit or can you be billed?
My husband was laid off from his job that had health and dental insurance and and I have no money to bring my baby to her appointment to get her shots. We don't qualify for medicaid because he makes just over the limit for any help. JUST over. What do I do?
--------------------
I think my pediatrician charges $60 or so for a 'well baby' visit with no shots. I'd just call and ask about the billing and how much it will be. But if I really couldn't afford it, I would call the Health Department... I think it's free or really cheap and could get you by for now.

We do not have dental insurance. My back molar will need a root canal and a crown for a total cost of $1900.00
Is it better to have it pulled or absorb the cost. Since we don't have insurance, it is going to "hurt"......
