does anyone know of a good dental insurance?

Delta Dental and Assurant are both good. I think Blue Cross also offers a dental plan.

dental insurance?
i am 19 years old...going to be 20 in may, i guess i am not eliglible any more for dental insurance from my father because i am over 18. (my father have SIDS--self insured dental services)i am a student within the CUNY system and was wondering what dental insurance can i obtain?

Are you sure you're not eligible under your father's plan? Generally speaking, you are covered under the age of 18 or up to 24 if you are full time student. See if this applies to to terms of his plan. If not, you may be better off paying the full shot to the dentist. Independent dental plans are expensive and frequently cost more than just paying directly for the services.

dental insurance?
I need extensive work done to my teeth, and I will not be able to afford it without insurance. Can one take out a dental insurance stating that the work needs to be done or will they charge you a lot for insurance if you tell them that? (or refuse to give you one altogether?) what's your experiences with that?

Many large insurance company's have policies available that isn't part of the group insurance system. You will have to pay a monthly fee. For some it can be as low as 10-20$ a month. There may be a waiting period of 3-6mths. There is a deductible and most good plans cover 80-100% aafter deductible on basic care ( cleaning, fillings) up to 1500%. And 50% on the major stuff ( scaling, root canals, crowns.) You can always keep the plan for a year or untill all the work is done. Ask the dentist to give a list of what the work is so that you can choose that right plan for you. You should check to see of medical expenise are tax deductable. Here they are after 1500$. If you what to ask for your x-rays and get a second opinion on the work. Use key words: private Dental Insurance Plan UK And when this is all finished, try to put 10$ a month away for a regular checkup and cleaning. Good Luck:) BTW Just because you have insurance doesn't mean you're off the hook. Some dentists make you pay up front and have you deal with the insurance company. Read your policy and keep all numbers handy.

I would strongly encourage you to visit this website: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands of dollars on all services. Root canas, xrays, cleanings, crownes..etc. They even had my very very affordable plan active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. hope this helps.

Dental insurance....?
Is there any dental insurance worth purchasing if you don't have it through your employer? My mom is always needing cavity fills and root canals. She takes good care of her teeth, she just isn't blessed with good ones- no lectures on dental care, brushing regularly, etc, please. She does not get dental insurance through her employer and is always having to use credit cards or pay out of pocket to get dental work done. Are there any private or individual policies worth purchasing?

I know alot of them wont pay for anything big till you have them for a year. They'll only pay for cleanings and fillings the first year. There is a discount plan, I have it, called Ameriplan. You'll get a reduced rate on stuff right away. I dont think you get as good a deal as you do with insurance, but you can use it right away. Give them a call.
