I am livid, I am four months pregnant and scared as hell! I have medicaid and was told that they do not cover dental. How in the hell am I supposed to get my tooth checked(hurts from pregnancy) if I have to pay an arm and a leg? I will not be able to work for about a month and I don't have that kind of money. What the hell is insurance good for? If not treated my child could have a low birth weigh or I could miscarry what can I do?

Try calling Medicaid and asking them about the dental thing.. they told me there was a certain number of theirs I could call and possibly get approval for it.. in my local area there is a string of community clinics and one is a dental clinic.... try looking for one in your area... they are for low income based families... I had the same dilemma during my preganancy and just waited till after my baby was born.. no big deal my baby was healthy and turns out all I needed was my wisdom teeth pulled. Experience with Blue Cross Dental Insurance?
I got a quote for just dental insurance from Blue Cross, has anyone used them before?

I have a Blue Cross plan and my particular plan covers my regular check ups and some dental work very well. However, you need to be aware that each company has several different plans with different levels of coverage so check out the plan you want to buy. You need to think of more than just the monthly premium but also the deductables and what percentage you will be responsible for and also what level of coverage you will need ie: if you need extensive work or if you are more mature and may need dentures/fixtures soon. You should get a complete layout of the plan before making a commitment. I know its a long process..good luck!

If you're 20 and perfectly healthy, nothing wrong, not overweight, a good, low/no deductible plan should run you around $225 a month. SO. If you want to cut that in half, you have to take on a $5,000 deductible. Your dental coverage will run around $26 a month, with waiting periods for anything except cleanings. And the vision coverage will cost about the same - $20 a month, with a six month wait until they pay for an exam or glasses. You can't exchange $50 now for a known $500 you want to incur in the next month. Insurance companies would go out of business. They don't WORK that way. If you have no insurance now, any "expenses" you have now, are going to be excluded under a new policy. Just like the lottery, you have to buy the ticket BEFORE you number comes up.

I am running out of dental insurance soon, so I had found a dentist and had work started - a crown, and...?
some fillings. Well I have not had good luck with this dentist. We started with the crown because that takes time. Well I have been going back every week to get the fillings done. I just feel like the fillings are not being done right. There were three large fillings that he just had to re-do a second time a week later. I just don't have a good feeling about him anymore (I really liked him at first). Can I go somewhere else to have the crown put in or am I stuck here because it is already being made. I am supposed to go back in a few days for the prep. work - insterting the cast post, etc....and then some time in Sept. for the final appointment. Can this dentist office send it to another dentist or do I have to go to this Dr. because he started it?

If this dentist has submitted a preauthorization and it has been approved and he has already done the crown preparation and sent the impression to the lab, then there is a lab bill that must be paid as well as the dentist's fee for the crown prep. I suppose you could pay all that and then ask to take the crown to another dentist for cementing. However if you do this, and there is a problem, the dentist responsible could be questionable. For instance if the crown comes off at a later date, was it the crown prep or the cementation that failed? Hard to say and both would argue the point that they were not to blame. Also, where I come from, a dentist is given the first chance to fix a problem. That means if I did a crown prep and there was a problem with it, I should be given the chance to correct the problem or to refund your money and have you see someone else. If you chose to see someone else before letting me decide what I want to do, then you effectively let me off the hook. It is somewhat muddy, but I hope this helps. I believe your best course is to let the dentist do his job. If there is a problem, seek a second opinion and then go back to the dentist to see what he says about it.

Both my parents don't have the greatest of jobs there i don't have dental insurance through them. I need to get braces and then 3 dental implants. I have a part time job because I'm a student and in school so i don't have a lot of money. Any other options maybe anything with the quebec government? HELP? my teeth bother me a lot
