Crowned front teeth?

Is it possible to have my two front teeth crowned? I had some cosmetic work done several years ago (had a gap, and the dentist filed a little of my natural teeth away, and put in white filling material). Since then, I have to have it re-done every few years (the filling will crack or chip), and every time she replaces it, she sands/drills away a little more natural tooth material. She suggested porcelain veneers, which my dental insurance doesn't cover. Can I just get crowns? They're much cheaper and they're covered by insurance!
--------------------
i'm a dental assistant and we do a lot of crowns and veneers in the office. it is possible to have crowns for your front teeth. cosmeticly speaking, they might not be the best. if you care a lot to what they will look, try to get veneers even if they are pricey. crowns require a lot more shaving of the teeth down until there is enough retention for the crown to hold on to without messing up your bite or how your upper and lower teeth connect. and that will also tell what kind of crown you can get. the dark line around the crown is usually the metal part of it showing. definitely consult with your dentist to see what options are available for your case.

Can anyone help me with these tax questions?

These are practice problems for a test, and I'm a little confused on two of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated! During 2010, Angela sustains serious injuries from a snow skiing accident. She incurs the following expenses: Doctor bills of 11,700, hospital bills of 9,400, and legal fees against the ski resort of 3,000. Angela is single and has no depends. During 2010, her salary is 58,000. She pays 600 in medical and dental insurance premiums, 2,750 in mortgage interest on her home, and 1,200 in interest on her car loan. Her health insurance provider reimburses her for 10,000 of the medical expenses. What is her 2010 taxable income? The second question: During the current year, Tina purchases a beachfront condo for 600,000, paying 150,000 down and taking out a 450,000 mortgage, secured by the property. At the time of the purchase, the outstanding mortgage on her principal residence is 700,000. This debt is secured by the residence and the FMV of the principal residence is 1,400,000. She purchased the principal residence in 1997. What is the amount of qualified indebtedness on which Tina may deduct the interest payments? Thanks!

Do her medical expenses exceed 7% of her income? Anyway, just wanted to tell you H&R block has a free website for tax questions and answers.

Is there any hope in ever healing this relationship?

My mother and I have had a rocky relationship for about the last ten years. I'm 25 years old and went through the typical teenage rebellion like most females I know. After I went to college and things got a little better, mostly because I wasn't home a lot. The real problems really started after graduation. I was hired as a journalist three months after graduation but the pay was extremely low, so I was forced to continue living at home. A year later, I went back to school to get my certification to teach elementary education and haven't been able to find a job. (I live in Western PA, where it's very competitive and all about contacts.) My mother seems to be less than supportive about certain things that I do and it has really built up over the years. For example, when I was a journalist, the paper I worked at closed down and I was really upset. My mom had little to no sympathy and said in almost a mocking tone, "Well, at least your boyfriend can come to the rescue." Then she said that life was a journey. I was thinking that I was sure this wouldn't be her reaction if she lost her own job. I am still living at home because I'm a substitute teacher and can't afford to live elsewhere, but am getting married in less than three months (thank God). She's upset that I don't do more around the house, like buy groceries and cook dinners. I can't afford to buy groceries; I make around $14,000 a year and pay $600 a month in student loans, my phone bill and insurance. As for cooking dinner, I'm not usually home and we don't often have family meals anymore anyway. I do the dishes when I am home, though. I know I could be more helpful and probably should, but like anyone else, I hate chores. The other thing is, it's not my house, which has been pointed out to me a multitude of times. This makes me feel even less like helping. Things have recently gotten to a head when my mom and I had yet another long (and mostly pointless) conversation about what we could do to patch up our relationship. In this conversation, she finally admitted that she treats my brother and sister better than me. I feel that she views me as a child and treats me with very little respect. She views me as disrespectful, which I can be when I'm treated poorly. My mother recently decided in February that she was going to sell our house. My wedding is in June. This got me upset because like most brides, I'm stressed out enough about planning and all of the changes. She accused me of being selfish and not ever thinking about what anyone else ever wants. Meanwhile, my dad doesn't even want to move; the whole house thing is all about her, so I felt that was incredibly hypocritical. I'm only getting married once and I want it to be a good experience. What it has turned into is having to leave constantly while people trek through the house almost every day. I feel like she doesn't care about me at all sometimes. A month ago, we went out to eat with my fiance, sister, brother-in-law, cousins and aunt. Before dinner came, my mom announced to everyone that I hadn't gone to the dentist in two years because I don't have dental insurance and can't afford it. I was beyond mortified. I take good care of my teeth and they look great. I don't know why she would do something like this. She claims not to remember it. Things like this happen all of the time and all I can think of is that she never would talk to or about my siblings like this in a million years. She angers me so much that sometimes I want to say something back. (And sometimes I do.) There are times that I don't want the house to sell because it would upset her. I'm ashamed to have these thoughts, but she's hurt me so much that it's hard not to. We've had talk after talk, but it never amounts to anything because both of us think we're right, or at least mostly so. I am in no means perfect. I've done and said things I shouldn't have done many times over the years. I totally admit that. It's just very hard for me to feel so disrespected and viewed so poorly by her. No one can hurt you more than your own mother. I have a little hope that things will improve when I get married and move out, but I don't know if I'm just being foolish and naive. How many times do you try to fix a relationship? How many times do you keep coming back to get hurt again?
--------------------
I'm sure that things will improve after your marriage. In the meantime, I can suggest two things. First, put the numbers regarding your monthly income and expenses on paper and show it to her. When she realizes just how little money you have, that should help, as she won't feel that you are taking advantage of her. Secondly, ask her to name two or three specific chores which she would like you to do weekly. Write it down and sign it. Then do those so that, when things start to get messy, she can't say you didn't do your part. I know that it's frustrating for you. But this truly sounds like just a case of parent and grown child trying to get new boundaries without having their own spaces. Hang in there, I'm sure it will improve.

Abused an humiliated by Dentist. What are my options? I am NOT looking for a lawsuit. Just my dignity.?

A tooth on my existing partial broke off and I had asked my dentist to make me a new one. I stated that I again, wanted a Valplast partial. He took the imprint and sent it out. It came back a week or so ago and I went to the office to pick it up. It wasn't what I had expected. The teeth were small and discolored and it was set on a metal plate. I thought it was me so I had tried to live with it but the discomfort became unbearable. I developed sores on the inside of my mouth and the teeth looked awful. I tried to like them but friends and coworkers looked at me and their look spoke a thousand words- it looked awful. I called the office and went back. The dentist who was once so very kind was furious as I sat in the chair crying trying to explain why I didn't like the partial. I showed him the sores on the inside of my mouth and he stormed out of the room. He caused a big scene and fellow patients came to have a look. He kept saying he wanted to retire. I did nothing. I just said there, I couldn't believe this was happening. I wasn't hysterical when I came in so don't get the wrong impression. I cried in pain. I'm a Psychiatric Tech. and I know how to handle myself-- which I could say the same for others. He told me "Oh great! Now I have to pay for this!" He tried to force it into my mouth. He tried to force me into keeping it as a supposed "spare" but I said no. His dental hygienist was kind. She agreed the partial did not look right and said I had every right to voice my opinion. Another came in and tried to cheer me up. I left. He did the impression and I now I am waiting on my new partial... I am really very fearful of going back. I don't want to be subjected to his abuse. He already charged my dental insurance company and I will be making a payment arrangement to pay off the remainder. Can I request that I pick up the teeth without seeing him? What do I do?
--------------------
He will need to delivery the new set, otherwise you will have problems. You should not fear going back. From what you said, he sounds like he should be the one embarrassed to see you. I bet he will apologize to you about his behavior. I have had moments in which I felt like your dentist, but would never act the way he did. I would leave the office and take a walk for a few minutes and recompose myself.

Is honor over---rated?

Don't get me wrong, I, myself am an honorable person, I've told a white lie now and again (who hasn't?), and my integrity, when it comes to my work ethic, is for the most part, unparalleled. But I can't help but notice in life that the tide is turning over in favor of the bastards, the ones who get paid under the table, the ones who cut corners, the ones who cheat and steal. People bribe their way to the top everyday, and a prime example is the U.S. monetary/illegal immigration system. Joe Legal vs. Jose Illegal Here is an example of why hiring illegal aliens is not economically productive for the State of California ... You have 2 families..."Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families have 2 parents, 2 children and live in California. "Joe Legal" works in construction, has a Social Security Number, and makes $25.00 per hour with payroll taxes deducted...."Jose Illegal" also works in construction, has "NO" Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table". Joe Legal...$25.00 per hour x 40 hours $1000.00 per week, $52,000 per year. Now take 30% away for state federal tax, Joe Legal now has $31,231.00 Jose Illegal...$15.00 per hour x 40 hours $600.00 per week, $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes... Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00 Joe Legal pays Medical and Dental Insurance with limited coverage $1000.00 per month, $12,000.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $19,231.00 Jose Illegal has full Medical and Dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00 Joe Legal makes too much money is not eligible for Food Stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays for food $1,000.00 per month, $12,000.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00 Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for Food Stamps and Welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00. Joe Legal pays rent of $1,000.00 per month. $12,000.00 per year. Joe Legal is now in the hole minus (-) $4,769.00 Jose Illegal receives a $500 per month Federal rent subsidy. Jose Illegal pays rent. $500.00 per month. $6,000.00 per year Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00 Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work. Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family. Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal's children go home. Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same Police and Fire Services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay. Source: Drudge Report I want to see what answers we have

Here's a story that's true: American farmers have corn subsidies that makes the price of corn from America so cheap that it is more inexpensive for poor countries to import it than to grow it themselves, regardless the expense involved in transporting the stuff, which has a relatively low price to weight ratio. Remember it's not that Americans are better at growing corn, or the land is more fertile, or anything like that - it's just that subsidies are so high that corn producers can give great prices and still turn a profit on the backs of taxpayers. Now consider that you're a member of the working class doing unskilled farming in a poor country feeding yourself and your family and making a bit of extra money. American corn starts to flood your market, and you've all of a sudden been priced out. You can't even sell enough to keep your farm and feed your family, so you have to start looking for another job. Of course, since there's a lot of people like you, there scarce jobs get gobbled up quickly at really low wages. So you have to search for a place to make money and find one across a border. Even though there's a risk of death during the flight through the desert, you figure it's the best thing to do, and make a run for it. Once there, you find many people like yourself are also eating away at the unskilled labour jobs. Wages have been driven down, but at least you can make enough to eat and eventually save up enough to bring your wife and kids to the country clandestinely. Although you work as hard as many of the people living in the new country, you're not paid half as well, have no job security, and although you have a miserable life compared to what you once had, people seem bitter towards you and think you're getting a great deal compared to them. At least you're alive, and your children are eating though, so you put up with it. Basically, I'm not saying that illegal immigration is good, but I am saying that it's not a complete picture to think that it's so great. You're swallowing the line of the right wing media, and should learn to think for yourself a bit. Try finding some scholarly articles or government numbers instead, as they'll give you more reasonable estimates. I mean, if the average illegal immigrant is doing better than the average American, why hasn't the whole population moved to America? Don't you think that would happen pretty quickly if all illegal immigrants were doing better than their American counterparts? Some food for though.

Which is better for you, ice cream or yogurt?

Here is the question: lite, sugar free ice cream or yogurt ice cream range from 80 to 110 calories a serving (1/2 a cup). Regular 'lite and fit' yogurt has the same values; with the same size serving as the ice cream or yogurt ice cream. So why are the 'food people' telling us to eat yogurt? If the caloric value is equal in the ice cream and yogurt,(or yogurt ice cream) are they not the same in harm and good or are their other factors to be considered? I also enjoy adding a serving of whipping cream to either of these enjoyable snacks. My whipping cream breaks down to 1 tablespoon = 50 calories as it is in the carton. When I whip it up, I usually mix 4 cups adding 2 tablespoons of brown sugar or equivalent fake sugar, then about 5 tablespoons of vanilla flavoring,( 0 calories). I use the same amount on my ice cream as I do the yogurt; I think that makes everything equal. Beyond this question, what is suggested that I do to loose the remaining lbs? Thank You Background to the question: May of 2005 I had a gastric band put on my stomach, I weighed 445# I had weighed 500 (=/-?)#. I starved to get to the 445#! I can't do most regular exercise, though I try to walk 80 yards daily, however I have degenerative disk, arthritis in my joints, bones that are thinning, (Fibormyalgia (some doctors said yes-some said no, but the symptoms are there, huh?) Crohns, IBS, and GERD. It takes 14 pills a day (also some every 12 weeks doctor/nurse to infuse it stuff) to keep the pain and my insanity to a tolerable level, it was 15 but my BP is now normal. My only exercise I get is aqua pt, 2 hrs a week in a and daily stretching. My weight has dropped to 360#, I had it down to 275 because I was ill and I couldn't keep most of my food down. The doctor loosened my band, and within 2 weeks my weight went up 25#, with out changing my diet from before band adjustment and after my weight increased to 300# The only difference was I no longer threw up my food intake. I now must admit that when I was back to 300# I was angry and gave up trying for about a month, sadly my weight went up to 325,(I was also drinking green tea sweetened with fake sugar and taking Hoodia capsules, also stopped that for a month, but I just started taking it again)though my weight went up to. 350 and now the end of winter I am 365#! I admit too I love coffee flavored ice cream, and once a month cheesecake. I have stopped the cheese cake, and I am cutting way back on the snake stuff. I drink my coffee black sweetened just a bit with fake sugar. I do drink my home made capachenno, of course it starts with stout espresso, then it is a mix of low fat milk, creamer that is low fat and fake sugar, and then real cream(heavy whipping cream). I also eat the 6oz'lite' yogurt with a table spoon or less of whipping cream. Now as to my 'regular' food, I eat very little of it. (i.e.; a brand name oven cooked lasagna. I make 8 meals out of the two meals that come in the bag.) Some food I don't eat because medication has rotted my teeth. They look like a meth addicts teeth, and I will take $8500 to correct my tooth problem. All of the remaining teeth, some are stubs, must be pulled and replaced with dentures. I don't have dental insurance so I wait with tooth ache as the decay, and bacteria corrupt my blood causing MAJOR problems! (Question for later, teeth are a major part in our physical health-insurance companies know this!-so why aren't they covered in our major medical policy?) Ok, all that said to help you know where I am coming from. I read the serving label info to know how much the caloric value is, serving size ( this is not correct most of the time, I measured it out, and emailed Customer service ,they had no clue what I was trying to tell them!) and other values are.
