If I'm on a Family plan Medicaid (Aatena Better Health), Do I still need a separate insurance for Dental?

I understand that 99% of dentists will not accept medicaid. My tooth is decaying and I have no where to go. How much am I looking to spend for a dental plan that's not medicaid?
--------------------
I would call your health insurer and see what's covered. There's no way we can know what your plan covers.

Cheap dental insurance?

hello, im looking for cheap dental insurance and i live in florida, anyone know.............???
--------------------
You have five options with dental. 1. Go without insurance. If you have good teeth and just want the basics you probably don't need any plan. A yearly cleaning and exam and even an occasional filling will cost you less without insurance. 2. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you. You can find one in Florida here: http://www.dental.ufl.edu/ 3. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With insurance you pay $460 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. 4. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With discount plans you pay around $827. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… concerning these plans. 5. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

Individual Dental Insurance?

I'm looking for individual dental insurance. Does anyone have any recomendations...
--------------------
Insurance companies are making a profit over and above what they pay out to dentists. The cheapest form of insurance is for you to personally pay for two or three "cleanings" every year and stash away $50-$100 every month into a separate account so that should you ever need a filling or something more (root canal, crown etc.) you have the money available. This way you aren't funding the profits of a corporation. In Canada I checked into insurance a while ago and it was going to cost somewhere in the order of $300 per month for dental, Rx, and vision. I decided it wasn't worth it and that I would "self-insure".

No dental insurance..cost?

I dont have dental insurance and i currently have a cavity. I need to get a check up soon and would like to know the ballpark range on how much it would cost for a check up? I'd also like to know how much it would cost to get that tooth removed if i had that choice
--------------------
Price does vary at each dental office. A ball park for a cleaning, exam, and x-rays is around $250. However, many offices run new patient specials for around $99.00 for all the services. If you have had any x-rays taken in the past year, they are still good and can be used at any dentist. If you had a full mouth of x-rays taken in the past 5 years - it is also good. A cavity's price will depend on the type of tooth and how many sufaces need to be filled. Silver fillings are cheaper than white ones. Silver fillings work just fine reguardless of what you may hear. A silver filling for a back tooth will run you between $70-$130. A white filling will be around $130-$250. Again, each office has their own set of fees. Many dentists will offer cash patients a discount if they pay for the procedure in full, usually is about a 10% discount. Also, CareCredit is a great option. Its a dental credit card that offers same as cash for up to 12 months. One thing I would suggest is calling local colleges that have dental programs. Many have "student dentists" and "student hygientists" that treat you for a very low fee. Many people who cannot afford treatment opt to see a student.

how much dental work can be done with $1500 insurance coverage?

i recently got over a serious cocaine addiction and have been clean for about a year and a half, and in that time i have been completely changing my life. the only reminder i have is the effect it had on my teeth. i have a cavity on my eye tooth that doesn't hurt a bit, but goes almost around my tooth by the gum area. i have two other smaller ones on the other eye tooth and right beside it. how much can i get fixed for little out of pocket and $1500 a year dental coverage?
--------------------
I've never heard of xrays costing so much, but what do I know. Maybe you could work something out with a dentist? On a positive note, the x-rays are the most expensive start-up thing. And as you get the teeth filled maybe you could pay it off in installments. If you don't get the dental care you need with teeth in that condition then you risk septicemia and bone infection. By the way, good for you!! Best of luck...

Dental Insurance Maxed out?

My dental insurance maxed out for this year. i accidentally fell on the floor breaking my jaws. I will have to do a root canal and endodontics procedure for my teeth now. the dental treatment is very expensive without the insurance. Is there a way to minimize my dental expense? Your help is highly appreciated. thanks
--------------------
Shop around. Wait until next year when the dental insurance starts again. Sorry about your problem. That must have been quite a terrible fall. I tripped on a crack in the sidewalk while rushing to my car to drive for a medical appointment--horrible cold. Busted a lip and cracked a tooth (can barely see the crack). You know, it totally cured my cold.

Dental insurance in UK?

Does any one know how much aprox dental insurance or a private dental plan costs in UK? Does it vary from practice to practice? I am undergoing a treatment plan at the moment - after my next visit it will be finished. However I will still need a bridge fitted for a gap (my first molar) would I need to get this work done before my plan/cover started? Any answers appreciated.
--------------------
I'm not sure about prices, I know Boots have a dental plan from £9 a month, but for all plans you would need to have any existing problems treated before the cover would start.

Who do I call? I am 19 y/o , minnesota, college student, employer doesnt offer insurance, my tooth is chipped in the back. how much does it cost? can I get dental insurance immediatly? -post your question, i will be glad to answer it- =D
--------------------
Call a dental insurance company and they will be glad to help you. Aetna's discount plan comes to mind. Generally speaking though, it is often cheaper to just pay out of pocket for the dentist than to subscribe to a plan (insurance companies aren't dumb...overall, they will not pay out more than they collect from you...).

If you call your insurance man, he should have a dental plan available. Then, you will have to "weigh" the cost of the plan against the cost of whatever treatment you need.
