What is the best dental plan for getting implants?

I need to get some dental implants, and I do not have insurance. Can anyone point me in the right Direction on what would be the best dental plan to cover as much as possible
--------------------
Most of the people answering this question don't know what they're talking about. I've had two employer sponsored dental plans and they both covered implants. Aetna and Metlife. They usually cover about 50% of the implant cost. They also cover the restorative part. Unfortunately they cap yearly coverage at around $1200.00 so if you want to use the insurance to it's fullest advantage you have the implant done in the latter part of the year and have the crown done the following year. If you're purchasing insurance on your own it would probably be too expensive to take out a policy that covers implants. If you're employed and your employer offers a medical spending account you may want to put money away for next year and plan the implant for after the first of the year. It's before tax money so no taxes are paid on it and you can access the full amount after Jan 1st of next year.

How does someone get insurance to go overseas for medical care?

Many people go out of the UK for dental treatment or other surgery. But all travel insurance won't cover the trip if this is the reason
--------------------
Whatever your reasons for going abroad, you may be entitled to medical care at reduced cost or sometimes free. Your entitlement will vary based on whether you're going to an European Economic Area country (EEA) or elsewhere in the world

Is it legal to use two types of insurance?

I'm an 18yr old college student and i'm being offered insurance at my new job, and i have insurance from my dad. Both of the dental plans pay 50% of the total cost. If i get the insurance at my job, could I use both and get 100% of the costs paid?
--------------------
Coordination of benefits between 2 policies don't work that way. Usually, if there are two, if one pays 50% and the other pays 50%, you would only get a total benefit of 50%. They will only pick up a balance up to the maximum benefit that one would have paid. If one had an 80% benefit, then one would pay 50% and the other would pay an additional 30% to make up what they normally would have paid if there were only one policy.

Is the cost for braces still at least five thousand dollars at western dental?

I don't really know how it works because I heard people pay $100.00 per month for 18 months at western dental, but do you need good insurance to pay as low as that. Because unfortunately our insurance isn't good and we can't pay $5,000.
--------------------
We're paying 4,200 for my braces.. Hmm you might wanna go see a different ortho, because they might have better rates for you. As for your insurance problem, they will always have good payment plans they can set up. Good luck!

Dental implants are very expensive?

My boyfrind needs two dental implants, and we do not have dental insurance but i have found by looking into dental insurance that to pay for a coverage that would cover the surgery would be very expensive and wouldnt really cover much of the costs. The cheapest quote we have gotten was 8,000. Does anyone have any advice besides going to Mexico, ( we've looked into it, it is actually a surgery and Mexico is not the cleanest safest place to get it done). Thank you for your help!

Can the company get away with taking away insurance?

Recently someone close to me has been given a 5% pay cut, due to the struggling economy in our area I understand why. My question is in the removal of Dental, Vision and all of his Life insurance. How can a company get away with removing insurance that has already previously been promised?
--------------------
Easy. It's not required for them to provide it. They don't even have to give advance notice, before cancelling the coverages. The HEALTH insurance is the most expensive part, he's lucky he's still got that.

Which contract fee the dentist should be based on if I have two dental insurances?

I have two dental plans through my company and my hus company. My dentist is an in-network provider of both plans. I wonder which fee schedule should she be based on? The primary or the loweres one? For example, I need to do an onlay. The primary plan covers 50% of $1000 while the second plan covers 50% of $700. The way it works in this office is that I pay 50% of what they charge first and they file a claim to my primary insurance company. Once the EOB from the primary company is available, I will have to file a claim to the second insruance company for the remaining balance. Since my doctor is in both networks, should I pay 50% of $1000 or 50% of $700 the first time?
--------------------
This depends on the contract the dentist signed with the insurance companies. Generally speaking, you cannot charge the patient any more than the lower contracted fee, less the other company's payment. Since the dentist is contracted with both companies, they would not be allowed to charge more than $700 for the onlay (assuming you had only one plan). It should not make a difference if you have another plan which allows the dentist to charge $1000; YOU are not obligated to pay more than your co-payment on the lowest contracted fee. If you have any doubts, call the secondary company and ask what the dentist may collect from you up front.

Most Comprehensive Health Insurance for a College Student?

I'll be going to college in a few years, and I'm fully aware of the healthcare crisis. Although money is an issue, my health is more important. Assuming that money is not an issue, what health insurance company provides the most comprehensive and inclusive health insurance policies available? Is there an insurance company out there that will let me do the following? - Choose my own doctor/hospitol - Pay relatively low co-pays - Cover the cost of any prescriptions - Pay for health, medical, eye, and dental on one plan - Pay for the majority of any psychotherapist appointments - Continue coverage despite sudden circumstances (major illness, accident, etc.) - Cover the cost/majority of a specialist upon doctor reccommendation Does such a health insurance plan exist, besides the plan available from the state?
--------------------
You need to look at each university's website to see what they offer. Most offers PPO plans, which lets you see anyone (in the network). Dental plan is usually an option. No plans cover everything--if one exists, it will not be affordable. They're there to make profit, after all. This means no plans cover all prescriptions.

Can you count medical expenses paid with a credit card on your taxes? Also life insurance payment?

We've got 1766.30 in dental bills that were paid with a credit card in 2006. Can they be counted as a medical expense for itemizing taxes? Also, have $115 for a life insurance premium payment, does that count too?? Thanks!!
--------------------
Any unreimbursed medical expenses are tax deductible up to a certain limit. I'm not sure what is the exact number is, probably around 7%. As for life insurance premiums, they are not tax deductible.

How do I get health insurance?

Ok Im 20 and I don't think I have health insurance. I want insurance to cover basic health and dental too. How can I get health insurance that is cheap and affordable in California? Thank you
--------------------
You need a trusted adviser to help you through the process of purchasing health insurance so that you understand what you are purchasing. Understanding what you are buying is as important as the price. An agent can give you the knowledge you need so that you can decide what the right balance is between affordability and policy benefits. If you choose a plan that covers everything i.e. doctors office visits, prescription drugs, preventative health benefits, maternity coverage as well as low deductibles, low co-pays and optional vision and dental benefits your monthly premiums will be significant. On the other hand because you are young, presumably healthy and probably don't often use the health care system you might consider a plan that covers only the major health catastrophe. In this type of plan the insurance company does not pay benefits until you first reach a significant out of pocket cost (this is a deductible). Ask the agent if an HSA works for you. If you'd rather have more comprehensive individual health insurance coverage, such as preventive care coverage, consider a PPO or HMO plan with a lower deductible. Consider higher co-pays for doctor's office visits and perhaps not cover prescription drugs. Either of these approaches will result in a lower monthly premium. You then can use the monthly premium savings to pay for the occasional doctor visit or prescription and still come out ahead. Check with the agent that writes your other insurance or perhaps your parent's agent he/she can provide you a health insurance proposal that takes into account your budget and health status. They can answer questions as to what is and is not covered by the policy, explain deductibles and co-pays and show you the hospitals and doctors that participate in the network. (Networks in PPO and HMO plans are very important considerations). Some are going to suggest you go to their web site so that they earn a few pennies on a "click through". Some may suggest going on line to get a quote but you probably know there is much more to choosing the right health insurance than price. Use the Internet to educate yourself but use an agent to purchase the coverage.

services for dental work?

Are there students available to do root canals? (with supervision) Already diagnosed, but does not have dental insurance. Are there services at a lesser price for this type of situation? This person needs 2 root canals. One is an emergency. please e-mail at peggy_8529@att.net
--------------------
Dental students do root canals. It's part of how they learn to do them well. Here's a list of the schools in the US; perhaps one is near you. http://ada.org/267.aspx FYI: if you go to a dental school, you'll have to submit to the entire process: examination & x-rays, basic restorative work, etc before the root canals are done. If it's an emergency, they may see you sooner, but many schools only offer emergency care to their existing patients. You might want to try a local community health center if money is an issue. Many have dental clinics in addition to the medical services most provide. You can use this link to identify a center near you. http://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov/

Is there such thing as insurance for braces?

I went in for a consultation with Blue Cross Blue Shield and the agent told me that there's no such thing as insurance for orthodontic treatment. The reason why they say that it because they claim that it's essentially for cosmetic improvement but not really to save/help one's own dental health? Is this true? I know there are discount plans, but I'm asking about insurance.

What is the price range for Full Coverage Medical Insurance for a 63male-46female Couple?

My dad is 63 years old and has been working for $8.50/hour doing assembly work for the past 5 years. He has full coverage medical and dental benefits and this is what makes him so grateful to work there, however, he makes peanuts. I found him a better job, but there are no benefits. I am wondering if I can take on their medical insurance monthly costs so they dont even have to worry about it. Isnt there such a thing as a family package? I am 21 years old. I have no idea how much it might cost to pay for their medical insurance since this new job wouldnt provide that. My father is EXTREMELY healthy, and has a perfect bill of health, but is considered old.. Any ideas?
--------------------
Tell your father not to quit his job with benefits!!! Health insurance is completely outrageous, especially at his age (even if he has perfect health). Since you are not a minor, you would not be able to get a family plan. It would probably be an individual plan for yourself, and one for your parents. I am not an insurance agent, so it's best to get a quote from one, but I can tell you it's going to be at least $200. a month for each of you, and that doesn't include dental. That's also assuming a VERY high deductible.

I asked this question under "dental" but no answer...pain in old tooth extraction site?

I had an upper back molar extracted about 7 months ago and it was done by an oral surgeon because of long root into maxillary sinus cavity....well after the site has healed, it is starting to hurt, especially if I'm chewing something sharp. I can't chew on that side. I have to wait until after Jan. 1 to go to the dentist because my dental insurance is maxed out. Does anyone know what might be causing this pain?
--------------------
Since it was an oral surgeon who extracted the root, it should all be gone. Your pain might be because the area is still tender from healing. I had a root canal and a crown put in place of one of my upper molars. I swear I still had feeling in the site, but my dentist assured me that the oral surgeon got all of the root. They have a means of ensuring they leave nothing behind. It's not uncommon to have 'ghost' pain at the site of a removed tooth. Try the yahoo search below and you should find more information to help you. It might even save you that trip to the dentist, for follow up, due to pain you think you're experiencing.

Health and vision insurance question

I have United Health Care health insurance and my vision insurance is through Spectera. All of this is through my employer and I also have dental insurance. I receieved a health insurance card from United Health Care, but never receieved a card from Spectera or the dental insurance. Do I just use my United Health Care card when I go to the eye doctor or dentist or was I supposed to get seperate cards for the different insurances? How can I go about getting the cards? Thanks!

Dental Plans Are A Rip Off, What Say You.?

I had one and it was totally useless. Not dental Insurance. Dental Plans, Where you might pay $40.00 to $50.00 to start and then pay $15-$30 per month. I paid for over a year and I went to the dentist. I then called other dentist and told them that I had no insurance or plan and got prises $70-$100 lessthan my plan. What a rip off.
--------------------
I agree with "rip-off" statement. Most dental insurance plans were started in the late 50's early 60's. Many have had very few increases in benefit amounts but have multiple increases in premiums. Therefore, they seem to think that a $1000/yr benefit is appropriate, yet dental prices have risen every year and benefits have not. I really think that most plans are of very little value, the paperwork needed to file a claim is excessive and in the end not worth the premiums payed. Just as a reference a typical crown in the 60's may have been around $200, now expect to pay $700 to $1000 depending on your area. Really not worth the price! Dr. Dan

Searching for a Dental Plan that is NOT a scam?

I need to have several teeth pulled. I currently live in Northwest Indiana. I am a full time student and I do not have any health insurance. I was denied coverage thru medicaid. PLEASE HELP. I am in extreme pain. I need a dental plan that will begin immediately, low start up cost, and one that will accept my pre-exsisting condition. There are so many plans out there I have no idea which is legit or a scam. HELP!
--------------------
The American Dental Association recommends "care credit", so take a look at this link. You might do to your local dental school - Indiana University School of Dentistry 1121 West Michigan Street Indianapolis, IN 46202 Dean: Dr. Lawrence Goldblatt Phone: (317) 274-7461 Accreditation Status: Approval without Reporting Requirements Last Accreditation Visit: 2006 Next Accreditation Visit: 2013 Web Address: www.iusd.iupui.edu as they charge considerably less for treatment and the students are well trained and supervised. Or, ask someone you know for a recommendation or call offices and inquire if they will work with a payment plan. Perhaps a local clinic with sliding fee scale based on your income could be of help! Hope that helps! JAMRDH - a dental hygienist

prices on dental work?

my dentist recently told me that i need to have 2 root canals and caps, any idea on how much something like this is gonna cost me? I have no dental insurance!!
--------------------
I'm a dentist. Fees vary by region and by tooth. Molar root canals typically range from $650 to $1200. My practice charges $950. Premolar root canals can range from $500 to $900 or so. I charge $750. Anteriors (i.e. incisors and canines) are rarely more than $600 or $700. Crowns, depending on the type of crown, vary as well. Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns as well as all-metal crowns range from $700 to $1200, give or take a couple hundred. All-porcelain crowns (usually used on anterior teeth) can add another $150 to $200. My practice charges $950 for PFMs and $1000 for all-porcelains. Sounds expensive, right? Patients usually gasp when they hear the fees, but they NEVER put it in perspective: To save a badly decayed molar, a patient may spend as much as $2500 (in an expensive area), which is a lot of money up front. Yet, they will very likely keep that tooth another 10 to 20 years. Maybe even longer. Would you be willing to pay $250 a year over 10 years to keep a tooth in your mouth? I sure as hell would. And if that tooth lasts 20 years, the annual cost of keeping it is a mere $125 per year. Sounds a lot more reasonable, doesn't it!
