Is teeth bleaching covered under insurance?

I mean like if your dentist whitens your teeth do you have to pay for that or is free like the rest of dental work?
--------------------
It falls under the cosmetic category for most insurances, so percentage wise your insurance probably covers less on whitening than on other procedures. I know thats not the happiest answer, but check with your insurance. Who knows, they may be different than most. if your insurance does not cover anything on whitening. get a dental discount plan. they are cheap, and you can keep your current insurance.

Can you tell me what an out of pocket dental 80/20, 30/70, or 50/50 policy is?

I have just been told that an oral surgeon's office will not take my insurance. It would have to be out of pocket. What do the above mentioned policies mean? The lady told me that these are the options for out of pocket. Thanks
--------------------
The 80%, 30%. 50% is what the Insurance pays if you have Dental coverage. A lot of Health Insurance plans covers no Dental unless it specificately states Dental as in accidents or a surgical proceedure. Normal Dental proceedure require a seperate Dental plan.

How to negotiate dental fees?

I have a 25-year old amalgam that the dentist says is leaking and needs to be replaced with a porcelain crown. My dentist's charge is $1900. Insurance will cover $390. I decided to book an appointment with a local dental college where the cost is $780. The front desk employee at the dentist office was upset when I asked for a copy of my X-rays. She wanted to know if I was no longer going to be a patient at that office. I said I wasn't sure, but I was worried about the $1900 fee. I would be willing to stay at the dentist if I could negotiate the fee, but I don't know how to go about it. I have been going to this office for 9 years and had major work done before. I've never negotiated before, but the price of a crown has gone up by 60% since I've last had one done. Any advice would be appreciated, and I understand that it costs a lot to maintain a dental business. I feel like this might be a lose/lose situation.
--------------------
The fee being charged for CEREC crown looks to be 40-50% high. Take copies of your X-rays elsewhere or the dental college where you have been quoted quite reasonable.

I need extensive dental work need in house financing?

I am a single mom and do not have enough established credit to get a card. Most of what I need are root canals and crowns. I was quoted 12,000. I have insurance but they only cover 1,000 a year. I am in pain and the dentist said if I dont fix them now it will be to late to save them. Does anyone know a dentist in the Atlanta GA area that will work with you. And not up charge everything I can only affort about 200 a month. Thanks,
--------------------
Please contact your state dental association and ask about participating in "Donated Dental Services," which is a charity care program designed specifically for patients who are financially compromised due to medical problems. Perhaps this includes you. Free care exists if you know how to ask for it. Unfortunately, D.D.S. does not operate in all areas of the country, but hopefully there will be an office near you. Look in the Yellow Pages under "American Dental Association" and you will find your local listing or you can click on this link: http://www.nfdh.org/DDS.html (Editorial for freebies) Let me preface this editorial by saying that I do charity care, but I pick and choose for myself who gets it and how much they get. Many dentists do the same. You know, I took an oath to do no harm and to try my best to help people. I don't remember the part about doing it for free. It is my duty to remain available to my community to provide needed health services. If I were to do it for free, several things would happen. 1. I would have to work 24/7 to serve everyone who thought their story was worse than the next guy. 2. I would not be able to pay any staff to help me provide the excellent level of care than even the charity cases deserve and demand. 3. I would not be able to purchase supplies or pay lab bills for services needed to serve my patients. 4. I would not be able to pay the electric company, the water bill, the mortgage for my building, yada, yada, yada, to remain available to my patients. I may be wrong, but anyone who even KNOWS ABOUT THE INTERNET, let alone has a computer to go there, does not know the true level of poverty of some of the patients that we all treat for free.

HELP!!! I think I broke off a tiny piece of one of my bottom teeth, but am not sure?

I just noticed late yesterday evening, but really especially noticed it today and now food is getting in between where the gap is and I am worried that maybe a little tiny piece of the tooth has broken off and it is located on the bottom left side. I unfortunately don't have dental insurance to be able to go to the dentist to have it examined. It is kind of sensitive when I brush over it, but other than that, I don't generally have pain and/or sensitivity. I am worried.
--------------------
If you don't have dental insurance, there should be some resources in your area. Call 211 info. It is a national number for community resources. If you don't have it in your area yet, you can call 866-442-0954. It's the Northwest regional phone number and they should be able to help you find resources in your area.

Medical and dental costs for non UK in London?

I've been living in London for a few months and now really need to go to the dentist. I don't know what the medical system is called over here or what I am meant to sign up to? Is there a certain type of dentist I can go to with out needing to have any medical insurance or medicare or whatever it is called over here? Or otherwise how do I go about signing up? I heard and I might be wrong that you need to live here for 6 months before you can get it. What should I do?
--------------------
As a nonBritish citizen you will have to pay in full, unless you have pain, in which case you can call NHS direct to find out an emergency dentist who will either fill or pull the tooth for a small charge (up to about 50 quid).

How much does braces cost ?

What's the average cost of braces for upper & lower teeth ? I would like to get the porcelain braces or invisalign if possible.. but my overbite is pretty bad.. also I may have to have my teeth extracted because the first time I had my braces I didn't have enough spaces to fix my overbite. Also I was wondering if there is a dental insurance that covers this type of procedure...
--------------------
Usually, they are 4,000 to 5,000 for top and bottom.. but they do cost less with an insurance plan.... It also costs more if you get invisalign or special kinds like glow in the dark ones.

These two questions are not related, I just want to save points?

One is that I got in a fight with my wife, who is right? And the second question, if she broke her tooth, is that covered with dental insurance? Also, can a dentist fix black eyes?
--------------------
There is a chemistry problem here between you and your wife - I think - YES? As to Question 1) Who won? Answer: The one that suffered the less. As to Question 2) Tooth? - Yes, dental insurance covers breaking of teeth, but it depends on your plan. You may or may not have to pay so of the costs yourself - you'll have to call them to figure out how much they are going to cover, and how much you will have to spend. Question 2) Dentist - Black eyes - I guess they could - but I doubt they would. They get paid a lot more for fixing teeth than anything else and your insurance wouldn't pay for it; really only time heals a black eye. If it's real serious you'll need to see a GP; get stiches if it's bleeding or bloody, and get a script for antibiotics.

Does it cost a lot to get a filling?

Okay, so I am kinda sure that I'll need one, or hoping to God that's the case. I am 22 and I am under my Mom's Dental Insurance Plan. In other cases, I don't have medicaid. Does it cost a lot to get a filling? Or am I doomed to getting my tooth pulled? I am not afraid of the pain, I have had wisdom teeth pulled out of my mouth.

Does this dental charge about deep scaling seem valid?

Insurance pays 100% for DEEP scaling and root planing. But the dentist says he will charge for accompaning "irrigation". Does this sound like a normal charge? It's going to be $240.00 for the entire mouth. Thank you.
--------------------
GO TO ANOTHER DENTIST IT IS REALLY OBNOXIOUS PRICE FOR IRRIGATION. YEAH NO

Where can I get an inexpensive NTI Dental Device?

I had a NTI device created for my teeth to stop nighttime grinding....my dog ate it and insurance won't cover the cost of a new one. Does anyone have recommendations for where I can get a new one or a similar device?
--------------------
NTI-tss cannot be purchased at a pharmacy. That appliance must be fabricated by a dentist. Unfortunately they are not cheap and as you well know pets love them. Good Luck

Why do people think that they shouldn't have to pay for their own dental work?

"i don't have insurance"...quit whining. if you're sick you go to the doctor whether you have insurance or not. so why do people avoid dental treatment knowing that it's gonna cause agonizing pain just because they don't have insurance. here's another one. why do you think that you deserve new teeth without paying for it? you let you teeth go bad (cause you didn't have insurance, right) and now you want some charitable organization to pay for your extreme makeover. it's by far the most common question on here. your tooth problems are always your own fault so it's time to take on the personal and financial resposiblity to do something about it. put the soda and candy bar down and pick up some floss so you don't have future problems.
--------------------
why are you always so negative? I think you should start enjoying life rather then rant and rave about negative things in your life...

My Aetna Insurance isnt paying their agreed share of my bills!?

I work for red lion hotel, I signed up in November of 2009 for health, dental and medical insurance though Aetna. They take exactly $8.90 out for Dental, $17.02 out for Medical and $2.00 for vision from every one of my paychecks. So I Pay $55.84 per month for my insurance. I have seen a gyno and an eye dr. I called Aetna to make sure I was covered before I went to my appointments they said "yes"! I got a bill in the mail for my gyno app and I have to pay the entire Bill of about $200.00 I also have to pay the whole bill for my eye dr of $130.00. I called Aetna to find out why they will not pay the bills, they said well the gyno will not be covered because Aetna doesn't cover preventative care! I had an annual exam! They won't pay it! They said they'd only cover it if I was SICK!!! WTF! The Eye Dr. Appointment will not be covered because its not IN THEIR NETWORK! WTF I asked these jerks if they'd cover these appointments before I had them and they all said yes now they all tell me they will not pay after I had them! Of coarse I'm going to cancel my insurance but can I request to have all the money they have taken out from my paychecks back? since they didn't cover any of my bills and i never use the insurance? they have received $233.36 from my paychecks to pay for the insurance! I feel since they will not pay my medical bills like they had said they would I should get all that money back since I never got to use any of it! I also never used any of there services! My other problem is the hotel I work at doesn't really have an HR anymore they do but they don't so it's not easy to talk to my employer about this. The girl who was the previous HR didn't even give me my Insurance Cards, I had to ask the Accounting department to help me, they are just cards you rip out of the back of the packet. This company doesn't send you cards like Blue Cross Blue Sheild or othe companies do... Also I never got an ID # I was told to use my SOS, well that doesn't work either. I hate Aetna!

I AM 63 YEARS OLD AND HAVE NO MEDICAL OR DENTAL INS. DO I QUALIFY FOR BENIFITS?

DO I GET FREE INSURANCE BENIFITS?
--------------------
I don't know about if you could receive free insurance benefits. An alternative to medical/dental insurance would be a discount health plan. I have located a website that compares health benefit plans, as I do not have personal experience with any plan other than Ameriplan. I have listed the compare website as a source, as well as a site for Ameriplan. Also in my search, I located a website that has some guidelines for comparing discount health plans, which I will also list as a source. I hope that this helps you.

Maybe this website should be of some use to you: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands of dollars over the years. From extractions, xrays, filling...etc. all services are included in this very affordable plan. I don't know where these people giving their opinions are getting their information from. There are many variables to determine if the deal you are getting is good. Deductible, Co-pays, Script Coverage, Co-Insurance, Out of pocket maximums and many other factors. You can go to many online sites and get comparative quotes from companies.
