What would you do? dental question?

Today my crown that I have had since I was in the 4th grade(14 yrs ago) broke off. I do not have dental insurance because I just finished school and have not started a job. The tooth is in the back ( not visible) and does not really hurt. I don't know if I need to get the nub removed or leave it until I have money to do something else. I am a little worried that if I remove the "nub" and cannot do anything else with the space like a bridge or implant that my teeth will shift. I am very unsure about what to do. Also any suggestions on dental insurance that I can afford on an interns salary would be perfect.
--------------------
See a dentist and hopefully it can be re-cemented, which is inexpensive. Explain your current situation with the dentist, he will try to make the crown fit back on if at all possible. By the way, all crowned "teeth" look like nubs. If you can see it then most likely your in good shape. Don't wait too long on having this done since the other teeth will drift. Good luck!

I need major dental work but have no insurance. Can someone help me? My smile depends on it. Thank you.?

No insurance, no job (disabled), not elegible for medicaid or social security. Pro Bono?

Try a dental school. It is a pain, time consuming but they do very nice work for a very, very reasonable price. (I am from baltimore and have used university of maryland dental school)

how many hospital visits does ur insurance allow a year cuz i went 3 times in 2 months?

and does dental insurance affect regualar insurance like does hospital and dental go on same bill for insurance or its different

You need to read the terms of your specific policy. No one here can possibly know your coverage. Dental insurance is separate from health (medical) insurance.

How do I pay for dental procedures when my insurance pays for nothing?

My husband has always worked for big businesses and their insurance was always outstanding. Well at&t instead if justing firing people (which would look bad) made it impossible for everyone to make their numbers. Out of the 30 people that worked at the store and 20 had been their at least 5 yrs all lost their jobs. Well praise God someone offered my husband a job and we are so thankful, but it is a small business and the insurance is with bluecross and they are awful! I have never ever had to deal with an insurance co. that is hell bent on not paying for anything if they can help it. I was in the middle of having my mouth worked on and I have to see specialist after specialist and I find out that bcbs will not pay and these procedures are close to 2 thousand each. What do I do? I am so out of my league. Both my husband and I are very scared and I already have to deal with a new physical disability, I can't deal with this too. We have no credit cards and nobody will give us a loan and we are paying close to 400$ for insurance when we use to pay 50$. Please help.Please.

Insurance for my company and personal insurance for me?

I am opening up a boutique and of course I'm going to need to provide benefits to the employee(s) Medical, Vision, Dental all that. Who is the best provider. It is a high class boutique, things like Miu Miu, Dolce and Gabbanna, Dior etc. I've also been looking for a good insurance provider for myself with Medical, Vision, Dental. etc the thing is, with most Insurance providers your very limited to certain doctors and such and there isn't much of a variety to chose from. and I really want to give my employees the best that I can. any good suggestions?
--------------------
First of all that is my favorite place on earth. I need to go check out Winn's new resort. Anyway. the following site has a fantastic free comparison quote feature wher you can see side by side quotes from the leading insurance companies. how to get emergency dental help w/o insurance or money to pay for dental work?

My tooth aches extremely as I type! I have no insurance and I have no money at all to even pay for service. I have not seen a Dentist in over 4 years because I could not afford it and I have no Insurance. I know my teeth are extremely bad! I can easily feel the holes in my teeth. I have chunks of tooth dropping everytime I eat. What am I to do? I have looked everywhere online to get help here in Indiana and I get nothing anywhere close! I need to get this done fast! Like today It needs to get worked on! HELP!!!!!
--------------------
Some dentists will set up a payment plan. You just have to talk to them. OR....if you don't mind credit cards, there's one called Care Credit. It's for Doctors, dentists, and vets only. You can apply online at their website, carecredit.com, or at your dentists' office if he's willing to do the paperwork for you. I have the card. I got it for emergency purposes like you. I dont' have insurance either and needed a filling replaced. Not cheap at $300. The card helped tremendously. Check it out if you don't mind having a credit card. But like I said, the card can only be used at doctor, dentists, and vet offices, so you'll have less chance of out of control spending on it.

My Filling came out of my tooth and have no dental....?

Does anyone have an estimate of how much a filling would cost to get done without dental insurance? My tooth is sharp and is stabbing my tongue. Do dentist let you make payment plans? I am 22 really have no one to consult with this since the dentist offices are closed in my area until Monday and parents are not around anymore.
--------------------
Most dentists will let you make payments - you usually have to bring SOME $ the day of the visit. My dentist charges about $75 for a filling. Over the weekend - you can go to a pharmacy & pick up a temporary filling kit. They work really well to get you through a couple of days. Good luck!

How can l afford dental braces for my 12 year old daughter??

Hello, I am a single mother in the state of NY. My daugheter needs dental braces, but Health Source; her insurance does not cover it. My inome is very low and l cant't afford it. Any suggestions???
--------------------
I would recommend that you visit the following website. www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I have had them for about 3 years now. I signed up online and had my benefits active in 2 hours. I have used the for all dentistry work because the plan is very affordable. I know for a fact that all dentistry work is included. Othordontics, braces and cosmentic surgery are included also. Out of personal experience I saved around 3 thousand on my braces because of this plan. They should be in your area. Good Luck.

Is it typical to have to pay high out of pocket expenses for dental work even with a good ins. plan?

I have a decent dental plan (Principal Dental plan) through my job but every time I go to the dentist, they bill me about as much as they get from the insurance claim. Some people have told me they are being dishonest and others have said this is typical. My new dentist does the same procedures but I only pay a small amount (20 or so) on a $200.00 bill. I know with MD bills, we don't have to pay the difference between the doctors billing amount and what the insurance company pays. Does the same apply to dental work?
--------------------
Depends, most dental insurance will pay 100% of cleaning/x-rays/dr. exam and checkup fees as long as that dentist is a provider of your insurance. If he simply files the insurance and is not a provider he can charge you the difference between his fees and the insurance fees. Example cleaning at dentist $60 but insurance agreement price for a PPO is $45 so he can only charge that but if he only files you insurance he can charge the difference. Otherwise it is illegal if he has been charging extra for things covered !00% and he is PPO for your insurance. Also, many insurances cover only 50% of major things like crowns and root canals leaving a heafty split for you to pay and 80% for basic things like fillings and then you have the copay. Bottom line is dental insurance doesn't actually pay that well for what you pay but it is also possible you are getting screwed. You get a copy of the insurance statement in the mail that tells what they paid them, what the services costed, and what your part should be if he is a PPO for your insurance things should not differ from this statement.
Source

is there insurance that can help me have my root canal re-treated?

I have to have a root canal retreated and i dont have insurance. dental discount plans dont seem to help too much so im really sooliking for some direction and advice. (do i look up insurance one by one then call a specialist and ask if and how much the insurance would cover there? i cant just pay 1200 like they quoted...
--------------------
Be aware that some insurances may have a waiting period of 6 months or may not cover the re treatment as they would call it a pre existing condition. Just some things you need to check into. good luck.

Why would a father add a child to his insurance from his job?

If the child already has a insurance medical card from the state? He says that he is going to get insurance threw his jon for medical and dental but was told it was better to wait until the child was born? He also wants to get it for the child but i told him when the child is born he will automatically get a medical card.
--------------------
You can supplement insurance. If he's capable of affording insurance and its being provided to him by his job, its the responsible thing to do to use that insurance rather than relying solely on a government issued medical card. The government medical card can still help cover the expenses that his insurance doesn't cover though, so it will help everyone. Its just that it will be a supplement insurance rather than your only provider. If his insurance has excellent coverage though, it may make sense to not use the government card at all. If you don't really NEED the government card, its dishonest to be using it.

Any kind of free dental programs in the state of Kentucky?

I'm 25 with no insurance and in bad need of dental work. I have a impacted wisdom tooth needing cut out and need some financial help!
--------------------
Contact your local or state dental association and and see if there are any dentists who provide free or reduced cost care for low-income, disabled or senior patients. Call your local health department and ask about health centers that provide dental care for free or on a sliding scale. Go to a dental school, if there is one near you, for reduced costs. Check http://www.toothwoman.net to see if low-cost or free dental services are available near you. Check http://bphc.hrsa.gov and choose "Find a Health Center" to see if there is a low-cost clinic near you. Check http://www.nfdh.org/DDS.html to see if your state has a "Donated Dental Services" program. D.D.S. is designed to locate dentists who will give free care to patients who are financially compromised due to medical problems. This is a process that will take a couple of months to get your information and then arrange for someone to see you. Not all states have D.D.S. programs.

i'm in need of some dental services for braces...my insurance doesnt cover it...?

can i use the max out of a dental plan, then switch to another and use the max, etc.?

i have around 7000 dollars worth of work that needs to be done to my teeth, (non cosmetic) but i see most dental insurance plans only cover up to around 1000 dollars max. can i just use that up, then drop them and switch to another company and use that up, and so on and so forth?
--------------------
if you could do this, don't you think that we would all do this? that's what makes the premiums so high...when people do this. You need to find a dental plan and look over the guide lines, then you'll know what they will do.

Low-cost insurance availability varies depending on your location. In most places in the US, Blue Cross/Blue Shield is available with a variety of low-cost options. Some states also have subsidized insurance programs. Here's a link with good info: http://www.familiesusa.org/resources/too…

can i get insurance now?

I recently had my wisdom teeth taken out, and they said i needed to come back and get my teeth cleaned, and they said I'm gonna need some fillings or something, but there wasn't another appointment until June.. well i don't have dental insurance, so i had to pay for this all on credit cards, which is do-able i guess, since we dint use those cards for anything else, but i was wondering could i get dental insurance between now and then? or would it not cover the appointment thats already scheduled? where can i find affordable isurance?
--------------------
JUNE??????????? Switch dentists... As far as dental insurance, you can get some independantly, just shop around. If you're over 50, you can get it from AARP with Delta Dental. If you choose to go with a discount dental plan, be sure to make sure there are participating dentists near you. This isn't insurance, but a reduced fee plan that the dentist is a participating provider with... You could also apply for CareCredit... it's a dental credit card that pays your bills up front, then you just make monthly payments to repay it... kind of like your credit card, but the interest is alot less.... While you can rack up your credit card bill, there are other options to consider... :)

What's the difference between Dental Ins and Dental Discount?

I do not have a job and need work on my teeth. My father is trying to get single dental ins for me but he can't find ins only dental discount plans. When we start out they say insurance plan, then when we call to order they say well this is just a dental discount plan. What's the difference?
--------------------
Insurance allows you to see a dentist who charges, for example, $1000.00 for the crown. You pay $500 and the insurance pays $500. The dentist is paid his full fee. With a discount plan, the "insurance" company pays $0.0 and you pay $500.00. But now the dentist only makes $500.00. Do you think that the dentist that accepts $500.00 as full payment does the same type of quality dentistry as the dentist that accepts $500.00? You can't get something for nothing. Only the government thinks that way.

What would be the consequences of living without health insurance for my family?

My family health insurance is $565 per month. My family dental is about $50/month. I only make $2400 per month. After taxes and medical deducions, my take home pay is only $1600/month. Almost 25% of my gross pay goes to insurance. I've thought about cancelling medical to help us survive to make sure we have enough money to live on. What would be the consequences

How much does it cost to have a wisdom tooth extracted with insurance?

I have to see an oral surgeon in a few weeks to have a wisdom tooth removed. I have insurance and it pays 80% of my dental work. I will be put to sleep while he pulls it.
--------------------
One other idea is that if the wisdom teeth are impacted and all require oral surgery, your medical insurance may pick up some of the cost if not all of it. Your best bet would be to let the oral surgeons office know about all of your insurance and they will be able to tell you what your out of pocket expense will be. Godd luck with the surgery.

two insurance plans: tricare & metlife dental. which one is used for wisdom teeth extractions.?

i've been informed that the oral surgeon for wisdom teeth removal has to be within the tricare network even if i have metlife dental.
--------------------
They both have wisdom teeth extraction coverage but it depends on what plan you are on. Both insurance companies have hundreds of dental plans...all differing from the other. In my experience Metlife seems to have the better coverage but I would check with your specific plan to see what they offer.

I want to have dental cosmetic work done but can't afford it. What should I do?

My insurance does not cover cosmetic dental work, most do not. And, unfortunately I do not earn enough money to pay out of pocket and my credit will not allow me to finance this procedure. Any suggestions? ~Want a killer smile!!
--------------------
hey if you would have posted a picture of your teeth i could have estimated how much it would have cost. What you can do is go to Mexico to get your stuff done, its alot cheaper and some people prefer their work better than U.S. dental work, thats one possibility, another way if that you can apply for care credit, as long as you own a car(or something) your eligible, its a credit card(90 days of interest free and you can go with 5,6,7 month payment plan with interest levels really low) only for dental and medical uses, nothing else(no clothes, shoes, food, etc) and every dental and medical office accepts it(they pay what you owe and you pay them), your third possibility if to wait until i get out of dental school and i wont charge you much for "a killer smile"lol
