If you live near a college/university with a dental school they will do the work for free or lower cost and you get good care and they get the hours needed to graduate.

Dental insurance in UK?

Does any one know how much aprox dental insurance or a private dental plan costs in UK? Does it vary from practice to practice? I am undergoing a treatment plan at the moment - after my next visit it will be finished. However I will still need a bridge fitted for a gap (my first molar) would I need to get this work done before my plan/cover started? Any answers appreciated.
--------------------
I'm not sure about prices, I know Boots have a dental plan from £9 a month, but for all plans you would need to have any existing problems treated before the cover would start.

my fiances tooth is KILLING him, he has no dental insurance...what are some remedies?

im worried. he cant even talk and we dont live together yet so I don't know what to do! hes taken tylenol 3's and advil and hes washed his mouth with paroxide and warm salt water...he cant afford a dentist rigth now!
--------------------
Find the nearest school of dentistry. They often will do the work on a sliding scale. He'll be getting worked on by dental students under the supervision of a teaching dentist so it takes longer but they still do a good job.

Best dental insurance?

I need dental insurance for my 5 year old son and maybe myself also. Doe's anyone know the best plan to go with? Thanks alot
--------------------
You have five options with dental. 1. Go without insurance. If you have good teeth and just want the basics you probably don't need any plan. A yearly cleaning and exam and even an occasional filling will cost you less without insurance. 2. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you. You can find one here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Den… 3. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With insurance you pay $460 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. 4. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With discount plans you pay around $827. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… concerning these plans. 5. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

Health & dental insurance?

I'm 20 years old and I am in bad need of insurance. I really need dental insurance because I need a root canal and when I turned 18 and could no longer be on my mother's insurance I had no choice but to not get the root canal. And I desperately need it done. Where can I go to find quality but affordable health & dental insurance for my age? I live in Alabama.
--------------------
As mentioned, dental insurance will have a waiting period, usually 12 months. There are dental policies that pay a graduated benefit for major procedures but they'll only pay 10 - 20% of the cost. If you desperately need dental work you can try a dental school, where you can get good service at a reasonable cost. You can find the nearest dental school here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Den…

Best Dental Insurance Plan?

I have no dental insurance, and was looking to get some. I'm talking cheap insurance. I was also wondering if you could just pay for each visit/services? That would eliminate the need for insurance. I'm just really poor, but my teeth need to be taken care of. Thanks.

Dental insurance question on coverage?

My insurance says that it will cover crowns at 50%. It has a frequency limitation of 1 in 84 months. My question is is this this total amount or is this per numbered tooth? I have Metlife PDP. Thanks in advance!
--------------------
Sounds like its per numbered tooth meaning your other teeth should be covered for fillings etc.... Best bet is to call Metlife and ask

I have no credit and no dental insurance dose any one know who can help me?

I have a few cavities and i have called every dentist in the phone book and no one will help me. I brush and floss daily but I have always gotten cavities easily. I am only 21 years old i can't stand the idea of having messed up teeth so young someone please give me some advice. I live in central Ga. thanks
--------------------
Find out where the local dental school is. There is usually a small fee and plenty of time involved. But, it's a good way to take care of things now. And sometimes it's better to pay out of pocket for small fillings then wait for insur. and pay for crowns. Good luck!

Does anyone know the average cost of a dental visit & cavity filling in SC? We don't have dental insurance...

I'm 24, never had a cavity, but I do now! My husband and I, while we have great health insurance, do not carry a dental policy. However, I'm suffering, and this tooth is going to kill me soon. As we shop for dentists, what's an average range to shoot for?
--------------------
Cleaning and filling between $250-$700 depends on the dentist. I would check for a local community health organization. They usually have better prices & charge on a sliding scale.
