Getting braces in Foreign country and have check up in US?

I'm an international student, and I'm currently having my summer vacation in my hometown. I wanna take this gap and get braces in my country, so that I have enough time to get used to them until I come back to US and continue my study. The thing that I'm wondering is that whether the orthodontists here in America will help me tighten the braces when I didn't get the braces from them? If they do, can the dental insurance cover part of the cost?
--------------------
over here they should be able to help tighten them but if the ones you are getting are old ones i am not sure but they should and i think the insurance should help cover some of the cost they do for mine.

How much does a retainer cost in Greensboro NC?

i'm getting a retainer(i havent had braces). i only have a few gaps and a small overbite, how much might they cost. AND I DONT HAVE ANY DENTAL INSURANCE. please answer
--------------------
http://www.sextondental.net/page3.html I don't know if the above link will help but when I was comparing dental costs last year I found it refreshing that they had their prices right up front. The dentists in my town in Arizona are so expensive I was, at one time thinking to going to the above as it would have been cheaper. I ended up going to Mexico and got good work done, fast and cheap. Perhaps you could check with them to get an approximation. good luck

insurance and braces help?

i have cigna PPO dental (high) insurance and they cover some of my braces but its through work. if i quit work now i lose my insurance--will i have to pay full price for my braces? i have what insurance didnt pay set up on a payment plan thru my orthodontist, but will my insurance company take what they paid back if i quit work? we pay month to month for it in order to keep our services! thanks
--------------------
If your health benefits are through your job....when you quit...the benefits quit. The only other option is to Cobra the health benefits. Which means you will pay the cost of the health insurance plan. That's going to be more than you are paying now for health insurance.

Dental Annual Maximum question?

I got a lot of dental work done this year and reached my Annual Maximum fairly quickly. I however never got my Cleaning done this year. Even though I have reached the Maximum, will my insurance cover the dental cleaning? Or will I most likely have to pay that out of pocket?
--------------------
confused- There are different coverages in dental insurance. Some, like mine, fully cover routine cleanings and dental exams twice a year plus partial coverage of other dental work up to the annual maximum. You should call your dental insurer and ask and, if you have a copy of your dental insurance plan coverage (and you should), then carefully read the extent of coverage. Good luck.

I woke up the other morning with a chipped tooth?

It is the one right to my biggest two teeth in the front. When I look at it I can hardly see it but the feeling is driving me crazy. I left a job with dental insurance six months ago and I don't know what to do. I do not have insurance where I am working now. Will this feeling go away? What can I do/
--------------------
The feeling most likely will not go away, and any abnormality usually makes your tongue want to mess with it. I would suggest calling your last dentist (because they already have your records so it will save you from having to do any of that) to see if they can smooth it and even it for you, It wouldn't be very expensive or time consuming.

i'm confused about the military family health insurance?

how soon after enlistment do we receive the health insurance? Do we get to decide weather we want tricare prime, extra, or standard? does the health care cover dental and eye care?
--------------------
you are covered as soon as your husband enlists. He has to go through a paperwork drill, but that is back dated to his date of entry as you are already married. You do get to choose between the different forms of coverage. I haven't kept up on what all is covered but the website is well-maintained and provides all the information you need. Good luck and welcome to the military!

Should my kids dad chip in for dental work?

In our divorce decree the children are to be covered by fathers insurance. The dental office when I first set up my kids appts. said the bills would have to be sent to him because the insurance is in his name. Well, he is not paying the bills. I pay all the up front fees they ask for because he never takes them to get work done. He says they don't need it because its too expensive but they have severly buck teeth and need braces. He spends lots of money on medical bills etc. for his girlfriend and her kids though. My kids really want the braces but it looks like I will have to find a way to pay up front cost and bills after insurance. The dentist will not continue to see them otherwise. We have a so-called 50-50 arrangement according to the decree but he just isn't doing his part. I don't know if I should just scrape on by or if I should really try to modify custody and residency so I can get help for my kids. Isn't his disregard for their physical well being child neglect and abuse?
--------------------
Absolutely! You didn't make your children yourself! He should step up to the plate and stop neglecting his children, especially if he can manage to pay for his girlfriend and her kids. I would definitely take him to court for this. He is not doing what he agreed by law that he would do. Good luck, I'm hoping things will turn out okay for you and your children!

Can you get dental work done with out paying for it?

Like Porcelain Veneers, with out major repercussions. I DON'T HAVE INSURANCE EITHER.
--------------------
You really cant. There are a few things that your city or state will provide is you qaulify... Fillings, extractions and sometimes cleanings. What you want is cosmetic and you probally will not get that for free. Can you buy a brand new car without paying for it? Check with you city.

Home remedy for a toothache or abscess?

I have been told I need a root canal, but do not have dental insurance or the funds to go to the dentist. My gums around that tooth are swollen and very painful. How can I treat this at home without having to see the dentist?
--------------------
Dental care is the one area (other than acute trauma care) that ALL naturopaths agree is NOT a do-it-yourself project. What about going to the emergency room? If it's as bad as you say, they may pull the tooth for you or at least give you some antibiotics to get you by a few days while you find a way to have the tooth fixed.

Where is a cheap wisdom tooth extraction in Tyler, TX or East Tx?

22 year old student with no dental insurance looking for a place to have my impacted wisdom teeth extracted.

You should look up the dentist names and numbers at www.yellowpages.com with the desired City or Zip Code. Then call up the individual offices and get a quote.

Can you imagine health insurance for a healthy family of 5 costing $18,000 a year?

and a dental procedure that takes up an hour of the dentist's time costing $1500? or an 8 minute visit with a doctor about a cold costing $150?? At the rate we are going now...are these situations in the not too distant future?
--------------------
Dental and doctor procedures do cost that much and more. I don't know what insurance for a family of 5 costs, but it probably is not far from your $18,000.

how big of a cavity can the dentist fill?

I haven't had dental insurance in ten years and am a self supporting graduate student. I'm going into the dentist today because I have a cavity that has caused about 1/4 of my tooth to chip off. It doesn't hurt to eat or anything so I don't think its gotten down into the root. Do you think the dentist can just fill this? Its my lower right premolar. I really don't have the money for a crown....
--------------------
Probably. Usually the determination for a crown is how deep the problem is. A good dentist should be able to take care of that unless there are underlying problems. Cavities don't always hurt, neither do cracks.

Does my baby need to go to the dentist?

My son got his fourth bottom tooth awhile ago. It looked like he was getting two smaller, pointy teeth in at the same time, but now that the whole tooth is in, they share a base so it's one, split tooth. We don't have dental insurance, and I really can't afford to go - but I just got my tax return so now I can take him if it's necessary. Have any of you had a similar problem with your child? What were you told to do about it?
--------------------
it should be ok...once his baby teeth fall out they should grow seperate. my cousin had this and he's fine

What are the biggest dental rip-offs?

The office manager at my dentist tried to write a recommended dental rinse for $45 and a 3 month cleaning for $95 (neither are covered by my insurance) in the necessary procedures section of my charge form. In my opinion, that's a recommendation, not a requirement, right? What other items has your dental office tried to hard sell you on?
--------------------
they drugged me up and gave me an electrical toothbrush that ended up costing me $130. they lied and said it was for my wisdom teeth extraction. smilecare are a bunch of bastards. stay away.

I already have a bull sh%t insurance from my college but thats not real insurance. I need real insurance that is approved bu New York State. And How much would it cost me?

Or perhaps you're employed part-time, going to school, leaving home for the first time, or even retiring early. Maybe you've found a new job, but your new employer's group health insurance plan won't kick in until you've been with months. So insurance companies will now be required to accept preexisting conditions?

And have no limits to coverage, cover prescriptions, cover doctor's office visits, cover dental, AND be affordable for everyone? What is this Max Baucus guy smoking anyway? How is all of that possible without costing more than what most people are paying now?
--------------------
It isn't possible. But the best part about it is that the middle class will pay for it all. Since the poor are to poor to pay into it and the rich are exempt from the law, then it's the middle class that gets stuck with the bill. Then, the middle class becomes the poor too, except they have to work hard.

New to Health Insurance?

Im a part-time employee and recieved medical and dental Health insurance from Aetna. I pay about 22/wk. It takes away from my paycheck automatically Iam trying to goto dentist for cleaning and doctor for a checkup. Up to now, I have only payed the 22/wk for about 3 months. I have not paid the 100$ deductible stated. If i goto the doctor for a checkup, what are my costs going to look like. Do i have to pay the deductible and co-payment?
--------------------
The dental and doctor's visits are unrelated. You may have coverage for both, but they carry different deductibles for each. For a check up you need to look at the preventative benefits. The simple way is take out your card, check the phone number for customer services, call, ask, and write down the answer and who you talked to. http://insurancepickle.com/health-insura…

If I'm self-employed, where on my taxes do I deduct the cost of my health insurance?

Do I add it into my deductions on Schedule C adjusting my taxable income, or does it go on Line 29 of my 1040. Also: is it just the total costs of my health insurance that I pay for every month, or does it also include medical expenses (prescrip., out of pocket dental not covered, dr visits) ?
--------------------
Half goes on the front of Form 1040 in Line 29, the rest is a schedule A itemized deduction.
