What is the best dental insurance for major work that needs to be done?

It would be for periodontal disease care and whatever else comes along with it. A good comprehensive place is needed
--------------------
First check with a local agent, or your current health insurance agent if you have it. Find out what options you may have, as well as what it will cost in monthly premiums and what is or is not covered and what you will have to pay out of pocket as well. Quite often dental insurance is a bit pricey and doesn't necessarily cover what's needed to be done enough so that it's even worth having the insurance. And many people would rather just pay out of pocket to go to the dentist rather than even use insurance. There is another alternative however. At the very least you should save a great deal on your out of pocket should you be in the situation that you can't get the insurance, or it simply is not worth it based on your situation. Take a look at the site. http://www.mybenefitsplus.com/cberney Click on Locate a Provider so that you can see who participates in your area. You will even find phone numbers for each of the Dentists listed. Go ahead and call them up. Ask for an estimate of what it will cost if you were to get the dental work you needed done and were paying cash, no insurance. Then, ask what it would cost should you be an Ameriplan member and use that discount. This should be able to help you decide whether or not a plan such as this will indeed help with your situation. I have used the plans for over 2 years and it's definitely saved me enough to make it worth my while to keep it, even if it's only for a few visits throughout the year. Hopefully this will be able to help you out a bit!

Can a 23 year old get decent Ortho coverage in their dental insurance?

I know it is difficult to find ortho coverage when older than 19... I currently have a Blue Cross HMO plan that will cover me- but not much. And I am having a terrible time trying to find someone to accept this. Is there something better I can get? My teeth need a lot of work.

No coverage is very poor in this age range, do cash for your braces and get a payment plan with your orthi

Ortho is usually cover 50% up to a certain dollar amount ($2500.00- $3500.00) No plan covers more than 50% unfortunately, but coverage is not limited by age.

Is there such a thing as low cost dental insurance?

I need a dental plan with comprehensive coverage. Thanks!
--------------------
I don't have dental insurance so found out about the local University School of Denistry, which here in Las Vegas, NV is UNLV .. they take your wages and determine how much you will pay per dental visit by what your yearly income is which ours is quite low because my husband is disabled with one leg amputated and only a third foot left on the opposite let due to progressing diabetes problems since being diagnosed in 1994. He gets only $1100.00 a month and because he has so many other health issues, I have to be here with him...so therefore, I have to pay 25% of whatever the dental charges are and I have just got upper dentures which were affordable to me because of the discount. It will be a licensed dentist that actually works on you but there could also be students that may be on the side line watching and or learning the different techniques that's being taught by the school. Hope this helps somewhat..you can call your local welfare office to get the low income information....BEST OF LUCK Source(s): University of Las Vegas, NV Source(s): University of Las Vegas, NV

My dentist sucks. Is it true with dental insurance you only get two appointments a year?

I understand it may depend on the plan but I was told I can't go see another dentist (it would be the 2nd appt. in a short time span) even though I feel like my current dentist is trying extra hard to jack my mouth up. Does it just depend?

For most part dental insurance are 2 visits per year. Check you policy. I have dental insurance and I also have this great plan that I use when I reach my limits on my dental insurance. I would encourage you to visit this website : http://healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up on-line over 3 years ago now for all my dental work and they have saved me thousands of dollars throughout the years. From Root canals, xrays, exams, cleanings...etc. All Services are included in this very affordable plan. I do not have any limits or no deductibles. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and able to use it the very same day. I use this when I reach my limits on my insurance or sometimes get a better discount. Good Luck and Hope this Helps.

I am a dentist already, how can i work with dental insurance, to get patients from them?

I am a dentist , who wants to make bussines grow up, and i am interested on working to insurances, but just don't know how to start.
--------------------
You can be listed as a provider so when the the clients look for a dentist in your area your name will be in the list this usually means that you will be bond to their pricing structure for those clients. I've given you two consumer sites that have either dental insurance or dental discount plans for individuals use their contact information to request how to sign up with them as a provider. Not only will you get clients who have individual insurance but also those that have group plans.

If I don't have dental / medical insurance can I write expensive dental bills off or other medical bills?

On line dental insurance does not cover that much and there is usually a waiting period.
--------------------
Qualified medical expenses that you pay, not the amount of the bill, can be included in Schedule A. The deduction is limited to the excess of 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. That is, if your AGI is $20,000, only medical expenses in excess of $1,500 may be deducted.

Is there any dental insurance that is based on your income?

I have a tooth hurting and I am scared that I dont have enough money to get it pulled.
--------------------
Too late now. That'd be a "pre existing condition." Besides, if you have to pay out of pocket, you couldn't afford it anyway. And there is no income adjusted insurance. Only time dental insurance makes any economic sense is when an employer is paying most of the premium. First time visit to a dentist for either a filing or extraction would also require an x-ray. Cost would probably about $200 minimum. If you live near a dental school, you might can get it done for nothing if you don't mind a student practicing on you. Be done under supervision, and just as well.

Where can i buy individual dental insurance?

it will need to be stand alone dental plans, becuz i will have a seperate medical insurance
--------------------
In my opinion there's no good dental insurance anywhere. On top of the $30 to $60 per month premium most dental insurance has a $50 deductible, a yearly maximum that they pay out of $750 - $1500. Co-insurance for most procedures of 20% - 50% and waiting periods of up to 36 months for major procedures. I'm an independent health insurance agent and I do not have dental insurance. Instead I have a dental discount fee for service type plan. You can find a plan for around $100 per year here: http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… These plans have no deductible, no waiting period, no annual maximums and no pre-existing condition exclusion. One word of advice before signing up with any dental plan. Make sure to check the dentist provider list and pick a dentist (if you can't find your dentist on the lists). Call the dentist to make sure they're still taking the plan and they're accepting new patients. Do not confuse dental discount plans with medical discount plans. The medical discount plans are mostly scams.

I have two dental insurance plans. Can my dentist charge both companies for the same procedure?

One plan is a PPO at 100% coverage up to $1500.00. The other is an HMO with copays. My dentist is charging both companies for my daughter's root canals. They charged both companies for my 4 crowns AND they want me to pay $750. Are the companies being robbed? I think I am being robbed as well! What do I do?
--------------------
No, the companies are not being robbed. And neither are you. You have what is called dual coverage. Your dental office will bill the primary carrier first, then submit the claim to the secondary carrier. Usually there is a small balance after each insurance company has paid. Your balance of $750 seems reasonable, and actually, even cheap for 4 crowns and a root canal. One way to be sure that neither you, or either of your insurance companies are being "robbed" is to go over the EOB (explanation of benefits) that each company MUST send to the insured person. Compare both of those with what your statement from the dental office says. If you see a discrepancy, call the office and ask for an explanation. If you do not have the EOBs, call either the insurance company or the dental office and ask for a copy. EDIT: both plans are supposed to be billed the entire amount. a dentist must charge the same amount to each insurance company. first it is sent to one insurance, then it is sent to the other with a copy of what the first one paid. this is normal. Look over your EOBs to make sure that everything looks the same on them and on your statement I hope this helps you to understand. I know it is confusing. You can also ask the office staff to help you understand. that's what YOU pay them for. they work for you.

How do dental offices bill for crowns to dental insurance companies? First visit or when crown is put on?

I am curious as to how this is billed as I need a crown and it is close to the end of the year with $700 benefits left on my plan...but want to make sure I get in with enough time if the billing actually goes out the second visit as I know the crown has to be put on the second visit.

Under what circumstances would dental insurance cover the cost of veneers?

Since it's cosmetic, I heard that insurance doesn't foot the bill. But if the need for veneers goes beyond cosmetic, how does one qualify for insurance to cover some/all?
--------------------
Insurance will pay a portion of porcelain restorations if there is decay or broken parts of a front tooth (usually 50%). If they are purely cosmetic and no clinical reason exists, you will not have any insurance benefit. Good quality veneers cost at least $1000 each. It would be a good idea to have your dental office pre-authorize the treatment with your insurance company. They will send x-rays and other documentation showing the underwriters why there is a need for coverage of the tooth.

Does zero deductible dental insurance exist?

I need 9000.00 in dental work my plan only covers 1500 per year. Ive been looking all morning but i can not find anything. Also with a short waiting period.
--------------------
Yes, there are plans with a zero deductible. However, the deductible isn't your problem. In my state the plans with the highest deductibles are only $100. Your problems are with the waiting periods, the maximums, and the co-insurance. All plans have a waiting period of 12 months or longer for full benefits. All plans have a maximum; usually $750 to $1500 per year, and all plans have co-insurance for major procedures; usually they'll only pay 50%. This is to keep people from waiting until they need the coverage before getting coverage. You could try a dental school, where you can get good service at a reasonable cost. You can find the nearest school here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Den…

Is it possible to get affordable life insurance and dental insurance if i am not employed?

.........and if so, roughly how much money would this cost per month?
--------------------
Well, it's not possible to have affordable RENT and UTILITIES if you're not employed!! So. Life insurance depends on your age and health. If you're healthy and 30, you can get 20 year term, $250,000 for about $150 a year. Private dental insurance is different, though. I've never seen a plan where they pay out more than they take in. There are LOTS of loopholes - limitations of coverage, massive copays, and waiting periods, so you're better off paying for dental stuff out of pocket.

What's the best dental insurance that covers braces for adults without too much out-of-pocket expense?

I'm trying to get braces for myself (lingual), but the insurance I have from my emplyer does not over braces. I've been searching for one that does. But the closest I've found is a discounted price (which may just be a sales pitch). So I need something that won't leave me broke right from the start. Thanks in advance.
--------------------
I haven't seen any orthodontic coverage that covers more than 50% up to a maximum of $2,000. And you won't find it through private insurance, only through employer groups, because if it was offered through private insurance, only the people who needed to use it would buy it.

Is there any insurance company that offers individual health, vision and dental insurance all in one package?
