Help! My son needs 14,000 of dental work done and I don't know how to pay for it ? :(?

My son has very decayed teeth. He is 18 and since I have dentl insurance, we are in a terrible position. the work will cost 14,000+ and theinsurance will only cover 1000 a year. He will lose his teeth before I can get all of them fixed! I only make 12 and hour and I am a single mother. Because we are insured I do not think medicaid is an option. The dentist suggested a Dental credit card and of course I was denied for that. My son is in so much pain and you can imagine the embarrassment. He feels so bad about the costs that he wants to have them all pulled by a discount dentist that sells dentures. My hear is broken over this. i am working overtime and praying...Please if anyone has any advice... Heart-broken mother :(
--------------------
oh thats so sad for starters he can start working you can consider a second job then so can he and may god help you through this! and may he guide you to the right path. Ameen!

OH NO tooth pain...when you have a cavity and you cant chew cuz of incredible pain when food hits pulp,...?

duz that mean root canal time or a good filling can fix it? pleez any dental assistants out there? and whatta the prices,i have no dental insurance. :'(
--------------------
Well, it sounds like you may need root canal treatment. You do have the symptoms. The only way to know for sure is to see your dentist. An x-ray will be taken of the area and possibly pulp vitality testing. Prices range from state to state, but if money is an issue....you can always visit www.carecredit.com This company can match you with a dentist in your area who uses their services. Care Credit is a company that pays the dentist for services rendered and you will make monthly payments to them with no interest rate. Until you are able to get to the dentist....take 2 advil (for inflamation) and 2 Tylenol (for pain). Every 4 hrs. is fine! If 2 and 2 doesn't help....try 3 and 3. Hope you feel better soon! :)

IS it safe to get ALOT of dental work done at once while pregnant?

I have a severe toothache caused from two cavitys that have developed over the past month. I couldnt get work done earlier because I had to wait to get my insurance card. Now it is realy bad and I need to get a crown and I would like a cleaning as well... would it be safe to get all this done in one visit if I am about 7 weeks pregnant? Ive heard its unsafe to get dental work done in the first trimester and that some dentists wont even touch you with out approval from the OBGYN. what about the pain? I know its unsafe to get pain medicine so if I were to have to get a root canal would I just have to suck it up and deal with the pain afterwards?
--------------------
im 26 weeks pregnant and have to get a few fillings and they are giving me Novocain and my doctor sent the dentist a note with what kind of pain meds I can have afterwards because I thought I was going to have to get the teeth pulled and it had Tylenol 3 (which doesnt work for me) Oxycodon and one other type of meds because they all have what Tylenol has in them and they are safe for the baby...usually they dont do dental work in the first trimester because if you havent had any kind of recent dental work they will have to do xrays and they dont like doing them that early...you being in so much pain is alot worse on the baby then if you had dental work done..I would talk to your doctor and tell him how much pain you are in and they will refer you to a dentist who will work on you while being pregnant and they advise you to get your teeth cleaned and worked on because its puts stress on the baby if you are in pain!...hope that helped..and they will give you pain medicine your doctor should send the dentist a list of what he can give you

Am I legally covered if my employer withholds money but doesn't pay insurance co?

I thought I signed up for the family dental plan at work 4 months ago. After my husband's dental claim was denied, I was told that I checked the wrong box (employee/child box) on my application. I did list my husband's name, his SS #, etc. in the list of covered dependents, but the insurance co. says they go by the box that was checked. My employer has been deducting the amount for the family plan from my paycheck. My employer just sent me a check for the difference between what was deducted from my paycheck for the family plan and the employee/child plan. I don't think this is fair, since my husband's dental bill is more than that. I think my HR rep dropped the ball by not catching the discrepancy on the application. She obviously knew I wanted the family plan since that is what is being withheld from my check every pay period. Evidently my employer is deducting for the family plan but only paying the insurance co. for employee/child coverage. How do I proceed?
--------------------
Well, this is a fuzzy area. You're going to have to complain to your state insurance commissioner, in writing. And they'll ask for the insurance company to defend themselves. The insurance company will produce the application with the box checked, and I think that's going to be their defense. I think the employer has fixed their error, by refunding you the additional amount. I think you're going to have to wait until open enrollment, to get hubby signed up with the dental plan.

K-1 Married now SS# How??

My husband was on a k-1 visa and we just got married today. Now I need to know how can i get him a SS# to get him on my health and dental insurance. I know i have to file the I-485 and the other form for Working Visa's. But I need to know if I have to wait for a SS# or what number can I put on the forms with my insurance companies to get him Insured. Any help with this would be great! Thank you for your help!!!
--------------------
dont believe all employer need an SS#. Once you file the I-485, I believe you can also file the I-765, which is the application for work permit. Once he has that, he can basically get a ss#. Double check the SS website. I believe the employment authorization is one of the main documents you need to present in order to recieve a SS#.

Would the University of Texas at Houston Dental school be good for getting this procedure?

I have never been to the dentist and I am 16. I need braces,x-rays,cleanings, probably cavity fillings and some crowns. Is this a good school to have it done at? I will be paying for it by myself.I don't have insurance and I work for 15hours a week at 7$ an hour so I don't have that much to spend. My dad is a single parent of two and he makes 10 and hour. So 3 people living on 1680 a month is really hard and my sister needs dental work too. Is this place a reliable places to have the above mentioned done? I have heard some horror stories about the students there messing up people's teeth and I really don't want that to happen to me. oh, and i'm dead scared of the dentist...go figure! do you guys have any tips on not being scared?
--------------------
Hello...OK first and foremost...there will be no pain....You may feel a bit of pressure but with the anesthetics they have and the kind of needles they use you shouldn't feel anything but a little pressure...NOW, yes the Dental School would be a great place to go. They provide a wide variety of dental services and the fee will be between FREE and very low depending on your financial status...Now...it is very rare for an "Out Patient Clinic" to provide braces...braces are considered strictly a cosmetic procedure in most cases. Also dental students do not get a great deal of training with regard to Orthodontics while in regular dental school...If they want to be an Orthodontist they complete dental school and the go back and take specialty courses..However, if the training supervising professor thinks you would make a good teaching tool he or she may provide the realignment services you need as a teaching tool...Good luck and I wish you well. How do I find a dentist who will file my insurance up front?

I need extensive dental repair work done that is going to cost thousands of dollars all said and done.My employer provides me good insurance that will cover 50-80% of the cost but finding a dentist who will file that insurance before doing the work is so far a bust. So far all of the dentists I have contacted expect all of the money up front and then they will reimburse after insurance. I don't have thousands of dollars to pay up front and my credit score is horrible so I can not get a loan or do "carecredit". I can however pay a smaller amount upfront (the balance after insurance pays) or I can make payments. I desperately need this work done asap! Can anyone here please tell me how to find a dentist who will work with me?
--------------------
Keep in mind that you have an annual maximum that your insurance company will pay... so if your annual maximum is $1500, and you've had 3 crowns, the well has run dry until the next cycle. A pre-treatment estimate should be submitted to your insurance company, especially if there's alot of work that needs to be done. This way, both you and the office will know how much your personal, out of pocket expenses will be before the treatment begins. Also, treatment can be spread out over the course of December of this year, so you can max out, into 2008... then you should have more benefits to work with. If all else fails, come to my office... we have payment plans! :)

Please help me!! I don't know much about health insurance... Is this a good one?

I am overweight and having a hard time finding health insurance. Apparently no one wants to cover someone who is overweight. I did something online and filled out some info and have had numerous calls from health insurance places. http://niaamerica.com/valueplans.html This is the link to one of the offers 116.00 a month i was told.. But i don't know if this is creditable. Blue cross blue shield offered me something really small something like I only have to pay 50 for doc visits and preventable dental visits > I honestly don't know what to do. I desperately need health insurance... Just basic coverage doesn't have to be spectacular but good coverage. Can someone please help me =D

Need advice to help my mom receive dental care. Help!?

My mom is 49 years old, and her teeth are literally falling out. She has always taken good care of them so we aren't sure what the cause is, but her father had the same problem. She has no insurance and only works part time so she doesn't have a couple of thousand dollars to spend on dentures. Her credit is bad so she can not use CareCredit to finance it. She can barely eat anything because of this and it is causing her pain. Can anyone give me some ideas so that my grandmother and I can get her the dental care she needs? Preferably some type of payment plan or something...

Maybe you've found a new job, but your new employer's group health insurance plan won't kick in until you've been with months. People w/o health insurance how do you pay for medical care, or do you?

I looked into insurance available to me in Georgia and here what the least affordable costs me: $350/month, 20% specialist cost after a $3500/yr deductible, 3 doctor visits per year at $45 each, $20 for each prescription, no dental/vision coverage and other charges that add up to over $7500/yr. And all of this BEFORE the latest 14% price hike. I've decided to save up the same $7500/yr for medical expenses and chuck the insurance companies. I figure some years I won't use all the money and it could go towards the years when I need it. What's your solution?

So just buy a Major Medical Insurance that covers Hosp stays and surgeries.

Can I wait six months for dental planing and scaling? Or do it now?

I was shocked at the bad check-up. Largest pocket is a 6. Usually they have all been good and my dental self-care has been better than ever. Not even the dentist can explain the rapid change from last year. The problem is, I am tired of spending money on dentistry. I have spent several thousand out of pocket in the last year after an accident required an implant. I stopped counting after $5000. No insurance left for the year and it would be nice to have a vacation instead of sinking more money into my smile. I still owe $1000 for the implant, which I will pay off in the next couple of months.
--------------------
The longer you wait, the more the situation deteriorates. Your self care will not improve the situation. The scaling and rootplaning treats areas you cannot reach with toothbrush, floss, mouthwash, etc. If you had that rapid of a change, I would get my medical doctor involved to find out if there are other reasons at fault. For example, people with diabetes having more dental problems. Also consider your habits. Have you have made dietary changes during the last year? Started drinking sport drinks, etc? It depends what is more important to you on how you spend your money - vacation or keeping your teeth.

Question about state health insurance?

I'm pregnant and have health insurance through my husbands employer but I was wondering if I qualify for the state health insurance and got it as a secondary would I lose it after I have my baby or is it 6 months a year? I have a few dental things I need done and it's very expensive I can't afford to get it all done and would want to wait until after I have my baby so I was just wondering if anyone knew.. I won't waste my time applying if it won't do me any good...
--------------------
Just to clarify, do you mean something like Medicaid when you say state health insurance? Anyway, it may depend in large part on what state you live in. I know that in TX that if you qualify (which is based off of income and then bills you have to pay) that you can get Medicaid as a secondary insurance to pay for costs that your regular insurance will not cover. I would think that since Medicaid is a federal goverment program that it should be at least similar in the other states as well, but the best thing to do would be to call your local office or look for their website and ask them your questions. They're going to be a lot more knowledgeable than anybody else. EDIT: Medicaid covers you during and immediately after your pregnancy for any pregnancy/birth related issues or visits. After the Dr. clears you and says everything is fine then you are no longer covered. As far as adding your child, he/she is covered for their first year of life and either you will get help filling out paperwork at the hospital or you will have to go into the insurance office to fill out more paperwork to get him covered.

How do I find out how many lawsuits Aspen Dental has against them?

My mom is suing Aspen Dental for malpractice. We are finding out that they are in the middle of several other lawsuits including one where they gave a woman a bridge that contained high amounts lead. We wanted to know where to go to find out how many other lawsuits are out there that are not getting media attention. We are worried that Aspen Dental may go bankrupt before our lawsuit even goes to court. We have an attorney that says our suit is substantial and is working overtime to get it rolling. My mom's quality of life has gone down the tubes. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this information? I also wanted to find out who their insurance company is!
--------------------
Your attorney should know that all cases filed within the court system of whatever county in which Aspen Dental is located are retained on file at the Clerk of the court for that county!

How can get my teeth clean?

I have this tartar deposited in the inner ends of front 4 bottom teeth of mine. I think that my mouth stinks sometimes because of it. I want to get it removed as soon as possible. But I am living out of my country and don't have a dental insurance here. Also, I cannot afford fees of a dentist. IS there an easy way to get rid of this? One more thing.. Is it true that teeth become weaker after removal of the tartar?
--------------------
Teeth becomes weaker if you let tartar to stay on your teeth. So get it removed as soon as possible. There is no way to correctly and completely do it yourself. You have to go to a dentist.

"Dental Implants" ?

Is there such a thing as "dental Implants" that are free, experimental or at no cost? Does any Dental Insurance cover the whole cost? Thanks.
--------------------
Many hollywood actors and professional models have this procedure performed if they want perfect-looking teeth, but naturally arent able to achieve that. Here's how it works: either you NEED this procedure because an important tooth in your mouth has been removed and you NEED a strong tooth there OR you simply just want this procedure. When the living natural tooth no longer exists or has been removed, an artificial tooth is SCREWED INTO THE JAW BONE, like a construction worker screws a bolt into a piece of wood. It's literally a screw (there are different ways of anchoring the artificial tooth). The actual procedure is painful (the patient can be 'put out' during the procedure) but afterwords the teeth feel like your natural, real teeth, and they can look perfect, cosmetically if you want. Potential problems: if you place A LOT of stress on the tooth, as you age, the screw could come loose in the jaw (as the jaw is somewhat torn up) - although, most people do not have this problem.

How much can I expect to pay to have all 4 wisdom teeth removed?

I don't have dental insurance. Thanks!
--------------------
I didn't have dental insurance when I had them pulled a few years ago. It cost me $1000 for the sugary (included the anesthesia), and I had to pay about $10 for my post surgery pain killers (I had insurance for that though). The pain killers are just a generic ( but STRONG) pain killer, so you should not have to pay to much for it. Other then that, you just need to buy some cotton swabs and tea bags (to help heal the area) and you should be set. By the way,a lot of oral surgeons will have payment plans to help those who can't come up with the cash right away, so I wouldn't worry to much about the money.

I am 32yrs old and love to smile! The only problems is that my teeth are in bad shape. I do not have dental insurance because I can't afford to have it taken out of my pay check and still pay my rent! I am however willing to make payments for the work that needs to be done before the dentist does the work. So i guess what I am saying is there a dentist that would be willing to work with me ? I am desperate need for some help.

Many dentists offer a payment plan. It can be as low as 15 dollars a month. I am looking around for a dentist that can treat my horrible teeth. Good luck =)

I would like to learn insurance?

I am currenlty working for an insurance company that specializes in insurance for commercial accounts. I'm the receptionist so I really don't do much. I would like to take on more responsibility but here you do not get respect without a liscense. My boss will pay for my classes but I don't know the first thing about insurance. From what I hear we deal with general liability, fiduciary liability, d&o, life, commercial auto, and workers comp. Also we have a dental department. Before I go into my classes I would like to know the basics is there a place online that can help me, or a book I can pick up somewhere? Thanks for the help guys.
--------------------
Get your license right away. Go take the classes that your boss is going to pay for. They are pretty easy. Being that your company handles both P&C and Life, tell them that you want to get both licenses. This will make you more valuable. I think I did my studying through Dearborn, but there are several good companies to use.

Does anyone know what the best Dog Insurance is?

I want it to be able to cover everything, Dental Cleanings, Cancer, Emergency Room visits. I don't want to have to pay a lot out of my pocket. Any recommendations??? Thanks!! I have a 15 month old chihuahua and have just taken to Petco for its annual shots last July and thats it. I want to be able to use the insurance for annual checkups etc... not just for emergencies. Any recomendations? I have heard horror stories on people who take their pets to the doctor and then have really bad insurance companies that either will not approve the claim or only give them back like 10% of what the huge vet bill was. Thanks in advance, desperately looking to start something this week. Also can I change insurance plans after, like go down from an expensive plan to a cheaper plan, probably yes, no?
--------------------
Dont get Argos insurance , i had the cheapest silver cover and was charged more than a platnum because of my postcode. They also double the cost in of older dogs insurance in one year. The best insurance is direct line, they are not the cheapest but they are always quick to pay out and cover every condition.
