I have 5 wisdom teeth?

I am scheduled to go to an oral surgeon next week for a consultation. The one on the bottom that is already coming through has an infection around it and I was prescribed amoxicillin. I have dental insurance but I was wondering if it is expensive especially that I have 5 wisdom teeth to be pulled? And also do you think after I have my consultation with the oral surgeon that they will schedule me right away to get them pulled?
--------------------
Yes its expensive to have 4 teeth removed. He will schedule you soon after the consultation, but I think he might wait till the infection is gone and when u are on break.

i need help on a dental issue, can somebody or a dentist please me?

ok so i have been having a cavity issue and in the very past, i've gotten a filling, before i didn't have health insurance anymore, so anyway, on my filling, my cavity is like growing out of my filling since my filling is on the front of my permanent front tooth, so how much does it cost to get it fixed and what would dentists do to it
--------------------
It sounds lie recurrent decay. If this is the case, then the dentist will have to drill your tooth again and get the rest of the cavity out and fill it again. The cost depends on how large the cavity was and the surface of the filling.

Was he indirectly asking me for money?

I have been getting to know this guy for a while and would need to sell my house to move near his kids to move in together. I recently had to borrow money for a new furnace since the old one did not work and will be living the house until it sells. He knows I had money left over from the loan. We were recently talking and he mentioned he came to the conclusion his bad sinuses were linked to dental problems but he had no dental insurance and he mentioned this twice. I suggested over the counter remedies which I tried myself and which healed a gum infection since I also don't have any insurance. I was in the midst of making these suggestions to him when he suddenly said: I gotta go with no explanation. He has not called me or returned my calls in 4 days. Relocation is expensive & I may want to stay here rather than end up footing bills so he can pay for toys (he bought himself a tatoo and a gold chain recently) if those are his intentions Was he asking me for money to fix his teeth?
--------------------
OMG - I hope you have enough sense of your own (please don't take offence to that - I'm being sincere) to see that this guy is no good for you. I bet he was SO trying to get money from you. He might have also felt jealous of the fact that you have this extra money and if you allow him to manipulate you like this there will only be more trouble down the road – as in, "OMG! It has been three years and now because of him I'm $15,000 in debt," or something equally as heinous. What he needs to understand are two things: 1. The money is *not* your money - it is a loan and therefore technically the bank's. 2. To love someone or be in a relationship means not using or abusing the significant other in any way. Love should be defined by trust and kindness, not whether someone "cares" for you enough to loan some money. He was being passive aggressive - trying to make you feel guilty so handing over the money would seem like your idea and not his, especially to make it look like a gift. He will use this as an excuse to never pay you back. I also bet he wouldn't actually use the money for dental work. I believe when he said he needs it done, but someone like him would feel the money burning a hole in his pocket and go crazy with it. Maybe the right thing to do would be to take that extra money and put most if not all of it back in the bank to pay down your loan quicker. Not only will this keep his greedy paws off of your money, it will help you get a loan easier in the future. I hope you can make a good choice here. You deserve someone who won't use you and someone you can trust.

Chiped my tooth today, leaving for australia in 10 days, should I just get it fixed there?

I live in Alberta Canada and I'm not covered under any plan here right now... but I will be taking health insurance in Australia.. How does it work.. Will I be covered or is Dental a totally different thing like it is here?
--------------------
There is a waiting period for dental etc once you have joined a health insurance in Australia - 3-6 months. Can you wait that long? Insurance costs around $60-70 a month for a single - more if you are over 30, Get it as soon as you get here. IF you are coming on a PR visa, then you are covered by medicare immediately but that is only for doctor visits, not dentists.

any grants to cover dental implants?

most insurance don't cover these costs, any government grants that will help, please information that is reliable and free
--------------------
I'm sorry but if the expenses are not covered by Medicare/Medicaid, there's no such thing as government grants for dental implants. That's not the way grants are designed The government is NOT in the business of giving away free money for the sake of giving away money. There are no grants for paying bills, no grants for paying off credit cards, no grants for getting out of debt and no grants for simply fattening your wallet. Grants are free, but it means OBLIGATION. You will be obligated to do as the grant sets out to do. Grants have objectives, and your purpose must fit the objective of the grant. For one, you have to write the grant application and the grant application is not a simple document - you have to explain how your purpose for applying for the grant fits well with the objectives set out by the grant. There is a stringent review process through a committee. You will compete with other applicants for the grant money, and this grant review committee will evaluate the merits of each proposal. Only those that they feel exemplifies the objective of the grant will be approved. You can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support your purposes. Even if you buy books on "how to get grants" or list that supposedly has information on grants -- all of them are mere rehash of what CFDA has, albeit packaged differently. Note though that these grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments. Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT - Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program. Individuals especially for personal purposes are not eligible for federal grants. Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women's Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women's business center that will train women entrepreneurs

Am I entitled to something for loss of 6 months of full benefits?

My company offers the best benefits, however they screwed my out of 6 months of benefits. After a 10 month layoff I was originally told I had to wait 6 months, then told by union the last week of July she'd take care of it. So, I tried to get it started early to get my kids in football, but no one who said they would help actually did. So, I finally use the Aug 1 insurance, and I found out today that all my benefits were canceled on Aug 1. And I took my son for the physical, and they did a ekg and he needs to see a heart specialist to rule out heart attack, but my HR is completely unreliable, I called again to try to resolve, but I am completely frustrated, I don't know who to blame. I feel robbed, what compensation could you give someone when you rob them 6 months of medical, vision and dental? After coming back from 10 mo layoff. Am I entitled to something for the loss of 6 months.
--------------------
OK, I understand your frustration, but I don't see the loss. Once you became eligible for benefits (aka, when you've been recalled to work), you're entitled to have your claims paid as if you had the benefits, if someone forgot to add you on. That's IT. That's all you're entitled to. So you don't say what claims you accrued, and you don't say when you were recalled back to work. You don't say WHY your benefits were cancelled on August 1st, so it's really hard to comment on it. You just need to check with your HR every day, until this is straightened out. Or maybe your union rep will do it for you, but the more people you get involved, the more confusing it's going to get.

I have (1) one impacted wisdom tooth, will the surgeon try to remove all four?

The other (3) wisdom teeth grew in straight and are just fine. Only one is impacted (mesial impaction). I don't have insurance and can barely afford all these consultation and referral visits, so will the surgeon try to pull all four out and as a result rack up my dental bills even further?
--------------------
yeah if the surgey is going to get out on tooth then he mite as well get out the other 3 teeth. like back in the old days if you have appendisites( it is were your appendix goes bad) then they also take out your gallbladder too.

I completed paperwork for new hire medical insurance. Company did not enroll me.?

The paperwork was completed within the required 30 days, but I never received medical or dental cards. When I inquired the HR department told me that they sent the paperwork to the agent, but I have not been enrolled. Is anyone responsible for my medical costs?
--------------------
Technically, your employer. This is called "employment benefits liability". If the paperwork went to the agent and they sat on it, there could be some professional liability there, too. Lastly, it can take up to 8 weeks for the insurance company itself to get all the paperwork processed. Are you "in the process" where it will pick up retroactively? Time to start asking these questions and requesting responses IN WRITING, so you have a paper trail.

Embarrassed by missing tooth?

Yesterday when I had my wisdom teeth removed, they also had to remove a molar which had had a bad root canal done. It is 1 from the back molar. You can't see it when I smile, but if I laugh or open my mouth really big, you can sure see the gap. I've looked into getting an implant, but they are so expensive...around $2,500. I have dental insurance through my job which covers $1,250/yr. But does dental ins cover implants, since that is considered a "cosmetic" surgery? I just feel so humiliated now that I have a missing tooth and am worried that everyone will give me a hard time for it. Stupid to worry about what others think of me, I know, but I can't help it, before this bad root canal was done, I had such pretty teeth!
--------------------
Well, your healthy now, and thats what matters. I was embarressed when I got a tooth removed, but don't assume people are going to make fun of you. When you laugh and open your mouth, people don't go up to you with small flashlights and look inside your mouth. It isn't a big deal, people won't notice, and it just takes time to get used to. Don't waste your money for the back of your mouth!

Implants are a very expensive option. Bridges are much cheaper. I don't know if you'll be able to get implants for cheap. Contact the dental school you are interested in going to and find out.

Health insurance question?

I am in the process of getting my own health insurance (can't be a dependent anymore) and I've been searching all morning for a plan that covers Medical, Dental, and Vision all in one. I can't seem to find any plans that offer that but I definitely need all of them. Is there anyone out there who actually has such a plan (preferably for an individual) or know where I can find information about plans that offer ALL 3 of these coverages? Please don't tell me to just search the internet because I have done that all morning and have even filled out forms for quotes and I am not getting the results I have been looking for. Thank you!

If you are in college, you may want to check out health insurance programs that are written through your school. United Healthcare has a plan available at many US schools. These student injury and illness plans provide wide ranging coverage and are designed to be affordable for college students. To check if your school is participating, go to www.UHCSR.com and enter your school name in the search box. You might also be interested in joining the American College Student Association (ACSA), a national organization for college students. They have lots of member benefits, including student health insurance. Their membership fee is affordable. Both the UnitedHealthcare school plans and ACSA plans come with discount a dental and vision program called UnitedHealth Allies.

Why won't my dental abscess go away?

I have had dental problems since I was a teenager (I am now 24), but I don't have any insurance so going to the dentist or doctor has not been an option as I simply cannot afford it. The last time I went to the dentist was to have a tooth pulled because it was causing me tremendous pain and that was a couple years ago. Well I have a couple teeth causing me problems right now, but one in particular needs to be extracted but it can't be until I get rid of this bad abscess. My cheek has been swollen for 3 or 4 days now. I went to the ER the day it started and they prescribed Keflex and Lortab. Well I have been taking them faithfully but the swelling has not gone down. The abscess has not ruptured or started draining yet but it has become more bearable (perhaps its the pain medication). Today I heard that maybe hydrogen peroxide might help so I did that a bunch of times today plus rinsing with salt water, but I don't see any dramatic improvements from using it. I don't want to go in to the dentist/doctor and have them rupture it, I would rather it just do it on its own then have the tooth extracted once the infection is gone. I have heard good and bad things about it rupturing and I'm kinda confused - some people say that if it ruptures it could make me sick and possibly die, others say that if I don't then it could get worse and go to my brain and I could die. What am I supposed to do? I am currently broke at the moment and have no way of going to the dentist right now. If I have any luck at all I might get paid tomorrow but it may be too late to get in because of the labor day weekend, places will be closed for sure on Monday and some will be closed Friday. Will I be ok if I am forced to wait til Tuesday? Please help me! I look like I have a rock in my cheek and it hurts!
--------------------
my advice to you is to go to the hospital or the doctor's office if opened and explain that you absolutely have no money. They can as a one time favor write yoou aprescription for a very stong antibiotic. This happened to me. You will have to figure a way out because you can die from it. The infection can get in your brain becoming a brain abscess from abscesses tooth. It will NOT go away on its own. I cried and cried because I felt the same as you and I was so scared. I ended up taking bits and pieces from my account and credit cards to get it done and that was by luck. If there is a teaching hospital near you for a university, see if they have a student ran dental clinic. That is usually more affordable and depending on what they are teaching I have heard of it being free. That is unlkiely however. If all else fails, go to the hospital. they won't take care of pulling it unless you are knocking on death's door though. Tried that as well. Call around different dentist and oral surgeons and see if they have a sliding scale or will put you on a payment plan. I am so sorry and will pray for you dear. Iknow you are in tremendous pain. This may help. in addition to the frequent saly water rinses, go to cvs or walgreens and get some Zilactin swabs for tooth pain. also, disolve aspirin right on the sore tooth and let in sit for a minute. You can also get liquid ambesol at the same place and keep re-applying it. Very helpful. Also, get some wiskey if you are old enough and swish it around. The old fashioned way of deadening a tooth. feel better.

BE CAREFUL HOWEVER - YOU MAY NEED TO REGISTER AS A NON PROFIT OR SOMETHING - YOU CAN GET IN TROUBLE IF NOT DONE PROPERLY Dear Parent, First of all, let me say: Thank you. Thank you for your tireless support of your child in OurSchool. Through fundraisers, parent-teacher meetings, school sports, after-school activities, and everything else that happens in the course of a school year, you have shown your commitment to giving your child the best possible education. As we partner with you here at OurSchool for the education of your child, I want you to know, that your commitment does not go unnoticed. It is partly because of the busy lives we all lead that I am writing. As you know, OurSchool customarily has a fundraiser in the first part of the school year to pay for things that are not fully covered by the school budget: art and music classes, field trips, science fairs, and so on. We also understand that parents are tired of having their kids sell fundraising products door-to-door and have come to question the status quo of such standards as candy fundraisers and car washes. When discussing several alternative fundraising options at our school board meeting, one person proposed that we simply write to the parents and let them know the amount of our budget shortfall. We could ask each parent to contribute a little bit towards that amount, so that we can continue to offer the wonderful programs and extracurricular activities that OurSchool the highly respected school that it is. And that brings me to you. I wish I could tell you that we are raising money for a new program, or a special event. The reality is that we are raising money to simply continue the great programs we have been able to offer in the past: namely art and music classes, field trips and our annual science fair. And partly out of consideration for you, one of our esteemed parents, and your valuable time, we have decided to ask if each parent could contribute $60 over the course of the next 3 months to help make up for where the state budget has fallen short. Like I said, we've considered many options, but in the end, we felt that the parents at OurSchool have all given so much of their time already, the easiest and most convenient way to raise the needed money would be to just lay it at the parents' feet and ask if we can all work together to share this burden. "Many hands make light work," so the saying goes. If each of the parents in the school can give an extra $60, we will have enough for all programs and extracurricular activities to carry on through the year. I want to end this letter by thanking you again. Thank you for taking the time to read it, and whether you are able to give or not, know we deeply appreciate your dedication to your child and our school. Sincerely, Your Principal Principal at OurSchool P.S. Don't forget, whatever you give towards the school is fully tax-deductible! Thanks Again!

help. I don;t know what insurance plan choose?

Hi. I am full-time student who goes to major university at Chicago (DEPAUL). Should I get Aetna IL Preventitive and Hospitalization plan for $48 per month ($1250 deductible, coin 20%, coin max $2500) or IL 5000 ($5000 deductible, but has copays for doctors and specialist before deductible for $49 per month, same coin and coin max). Or should I get BCBSIL for $43 per m ($2500 deductible, 20%, but only $1000 out-of packet max). I am with no health insurance- I only have health plan provided by my school ($80 per quarter) that covers the visit to internal medicine doctor (no refferals to specialists). My parents don't have insurance. I am currently 19 and work part-time (little dangerous job as I work at stockroom with heavy lifts sometimes). I already have from Aetna provided by my schoo lcheap vision dental discount plan. And by the way can I apply for medicaid on my own or I must as family? I am still depentent and live with parents.
--------------------
I work for a student insrance company so I may can help you here. Based on the information you have provided, I would say out of these choices, the BCBSIL due to the 1000 out of pocket man. Still, the high deductibles will be a killer with you being a student. Not sure about the rates but the company I work for also offers short term insurance. Since we do not do the student insrance for your school, you could still check out our site at www.studentinsurance.com......look down the blue side bar to the left and click on short term insurance. This will link you to the Assurant Health site. Just fill out the form for a quote. Hope I have helped you.

Is there a separate insurance or coverage I can get for Orthodontics? 10 POINTS FOR BEST ANSWER!?

I have dental coverage through Delta Dental, but it only covers orthodontics on eligible dependents up to age 19. It won't cover orthodontics for me. I'm 21. I know I need braces because I guess I have a bilateral crossbite or something like that and plus I have a canine tooth that is impacted or something. It was extracted in 2005, I didn't know I still had baby teeth, and the adult tooth started growing in, but then stopped halfway through and has been like that for a while now. So I do want braces, but I know it'll be WAY more expensive without insurance. So is there some kind of separate insurance or coverage I can get for JUST orthodontics?
--------------------
It's cheaper to pay out of pocket then pay for a dental insurance plan JUST for the orthodontic benefits. They're usually limited to about $600/year (which is $50/month). Just get braces and a payment plan.

Jaw Surgery at a Dental school ( San Diego area) ?

Ok so I had braces for 2 years and was told that I'd need jaw surgery to FIX my overbite. Well... I have no insurance anymore so, I was thinking of taking out a loan BUT i have no credit history or no one to co sign. I heard about dental schools. Anyone in San Diego know of any dental schools that will do jaw surgery for FREE or low cost. I know this a long shot. Serious replies only please. Thanks.
--------------------
two things you could look at - one homoeopathic treatment - even try some of the homoeopathic online sites or maybe some kind of physio or exercise to look at working the jaw. It is possible there's non surgical methods out there and they might be incredibly cheap by comparison. Go to libraries and read and google and see what you can \find out. After all, the braces may have even contributed to the way you hold your jaw. Good luck.

what insurance plan should i get?

i am looking to get health insurance. i was offered plan A which is $5000 deductible with 30% out of pocket or plan B $2500 deductible with 40% out of pocket. i am 20yrs old, in sacramento california. i am health don't smoke or drugs, but do ride a motorcycle. plan A payment a month is 90$ with dental and vision, and Plan B is $110 a month with vision and dental. in the past i have only been to Dr's for broken bones, but things pop up and want to be covered if something were to arise. thank you
--------------------
the answer is: choose the plan you can best afford. If you don't have $5000 saved up for a rainy day, take the one with the smaller deductible and higher premium. After all, the difference of $20 a month is a pizza dinner. You are better off with Plan B. Good luck!
