Company canceled Dental & Vision Insurance without telling employees?

On Oct 1st my company changed our Employer sponsored Health Plan. The new plan as of Oct 1st, did not include Dental & Vision, where as our old plan did. On Oct 6th, I had an eye exam and purchased some eye wear. The doctor charged me based upon my vision insurance plan and was going to bill the remainder to the insurance company. On Oct 9th, my company disclosed to it's employees that as of Oct 1st, our health care plan had changed and we no longer had vision or dental coverage as of Oct 1st. I live in the state of Washington. Can anyone direct me to a website or law, stating that a company has to give you certain notice of changes?
--------------------
Yep, no advance notice is required, which can leave you holding the bag. Actually, except in maybe Hawaii, the employer isn't required to provide you with any benefits at all. Never count on politicians to pass laws in the interest of anyone execpt that politician.

publix benefits ......dental insurance ?

when will i be able to add someone else to my health and dental plan? what month do they have enrollment?
--------------------
Not sure you will need to call your local public aid/health office to determine this. If you are talking about adding your child that would most likely be permitted but you can't just add a friend or boyfriend to your public benefits.

Health Insurance and Dental Programs (Self-Employed)?

I'm 30 and haven't had health or dental coverage for about 2 years. I'm currently self employed, have no health issues and I'm totally lost on the right programs for me. I would like to have coverage at a very reasonable monthly charge. Can someone point me in the right direction with getting more information on this? The insurance is just for myself. Thanks.
--------------------
You'll want to contact a local agent that works with all of the major health companies in your area. The agent can work with you to find the best plan for your situation and budget. They will explain what you get and, more importantly, what you don't get with each plan. There is no extra charge using an agent. Dental is a completely different policy. Some health plans will have dental as an option. However, most dental seldom pays more than the premium because of the waiting periods and the limits. A good agent will explain this information as well. A good option is a dental school where you can get good service at a reasonable price. You can find the nearest school here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Den…

my dental ins doesnt cover braces, does invisalign work?

or should i just look for a new dental insurance company?
--------------------
Very few dental insurance plans will cover braces, mine certainly didn't. And, yes, Invisalign works! I'm currently about halfway through the Invisalign treatment, and just let me say, they are GREAT!! Seriously, no one ever knows I have braces, even when I ask them, "Can you tell I have braces?" they always say no! And, best of all, you can take them out when you eat, which means that, unlike regular braces, you can eat anything you want! It's great, and I highly recommend them and, no, I don't work for them or anything like that, I just really, really, like them. On the other hand, they're not cheap... mine are costing me $5000!!! So that may be a factor for you, but, if you can afford them, go for it, they're really great, and I really like them, a lot!! If you're not sure if they'll work for you, just go to an Invisalign provider in your area for a free consultation (you can find one on their website at the link below), and have them examine you, and they'll tell you if you're a good candidate for them or not. Good luck!

Since the economy is bad... i need some health insurance ? dental not vision?

Would it be better to get a health care plan or get a dental plan separate?
--------------------
I found a site that has literally saved my gums. Covers all pre-existing conditions and is very very affordable. I have given it to people on here along with my family. You wont find as good and as affordable plans by calling the big insurance providers. For a small amount a year you could be covered and your mouth up to par. http://www.dentalplans.com/afftracker.as…

Can you recommend a good cat insurance which includes cover for dental care?

I'm in the United Kingdom. Thank you xx
--------------------
I used to have Sainsbury's which is reckoned to be one of the best. You're not likely to find a company that will cover all dental care, though. Do check with whichever company you choose, that they don't start ADDING exclusion clauses for stuff like this as they cat gets older. Some do, and of course a policy that excludes the things that are likely to go wrong is completely useless!

I need to find a health insurance plan for a small bussiness. Which one is the best? Specially with great dental?? Any suggestions? We are located in CT
--------------------
This company is the nations largest dental and medical benefits provider. The great thing about it is the monthly fee for dental is just $5 a week for the entire household! Very affordable for businesses. Also, they are very flexible. The employer can choose to pay all, part, or none of the premiums for their employees. If you want the employees to pay for it, you just deduct from their pay check. Your employees will save hundreds on dental procedures like cleanings, fillings, checkups, braces, crowns, implants and much more! You can also add medical for just $5 more. Check them out at the website below or email me at chandracox@ameriplan.net good luck!

Is anyone part of Aetna Access Dental plan?

It's an alternative to dental insurance. For an annual fee, you get discounted dental services.

I at one time had Aetna, but then changed when I found a better discounted coverage. I would encourage you to visit this website. www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up with them online over 3 years ago. They have helped me save thousands of dollars from extractions, root canals, cleanings. I know for a fact that all services are included especially orthodontics, cosmetic surgery and dentures in the benefits. They had my membership active in 2 hours and was able to use the same day. I am very thankful that I found them. Check to see if they are in your area. Good Luck. Hope this helps

Due to divorce I don't have dental insurance.?

Last summer there was a special at a dentist office for an exam, x-rays and cleaning for a cheap price. I did it and was told that I have 4 fillings needed. Some are fillings needing to be replaced. None of them hurt. My question is....how urgent is this? I plan on trying to get them all taken care of this summer but financially without ins., I am in a bind. Any suggestions and or advice? I live in NY.
--------------------
I have been in the dental field for 30 yrs and have seen so many people come in who went to a place that advertised a "special" and had unnecessary treatment. How do you think they can offer a cleaning and x-rays for so cheap? They have to make it up somehow. Unscrupulous dentists seem to be telling a lot of people that their old silver fillings need to be replaced with tooth colored ones. Unless there is new decay or the old filling is leaking, this is not the case. Your silver fillings should last you 30 to 50 years. Maybe even longer. Also, the dentistry that I have seen that has been done in New York was horrible. No offense to your state, it just all looks like foreign country dentistry.

dental plan/ insurance for orthodontic cares?

Hi every one I'm searching for a good dental plan/ insurance that covers orthodontic cares. My orthodontic treatment costs me 7000 dollars. I've heard about Delta PPO and America Discount Plan. I was trying to look at all the benefits of these two, but Delta PPO wouldn't let me unless I'm already in the plan (so I'd have membership ID which is required for signing in for more information). About the Ameriplan, it only stated vaguely in the website that it would cover from 25% to 80% for orthodontic cares. But what I need is a complete and detailed form of the benefits that I can get from purchasing this plan. Apparently, it's not in the website. I'm interested in the plans that don't require me to go to their dentist network. However, it seems like Delta only covers the fee if I go to their dentists. About Ameriplan, they say I have choices, but does it mean that I would receive less benefits and less discounts if I go with the one of my choice Anyone has any idea about these two dental plans? Do you happen to know any other good dental plans/ insurances for orthodontic cares? Thanks a lot. I really appreciate all your helps ^^

My family have this health insurance - health-quotes.isgreat.org It is affordable and has good coverage for dental issues. My wife had no problem with her insurance coverage while having orthodontic care.

bad toothache because of cavity; I don't have a dental insurance or plan now but?

I need to visit a dentist, which one is better, to buy the insurance or to pay the dentist directly, how would you compare these two and which one is more efficient ? or what about plans out there, please let me know if you have any useful information on this case
--------------------
If you generally have good teeth and just want the basics you probably don't need any plan. A yearly cleaning and exam will cost you less without insurance. Even the filling will cost less unless other procedures are needed. However, if you need more you have three options with dental. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. $50 deductible, annual maximum of $750 - $1500, waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With insurance you pay $414 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$10 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With discount plans you pay around $746. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… concerning one of these plans. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

DENTISTS/DENTAL WORKERS: What's the "average" price for a panoramic mouth x-ray in your area?

I don't have dental insurance or any medical that would cover it or "discount" it. Also, with the growing use of these "new" films that are viewed on a computer, can copies be given to a patient to take to another dentist? Does the dentist have a legal right NOT to make them available to the pt (even with some fee?) Thanks.
--------------------
A digital PAN is around $150 here. Once a patient pays for an X-ray (and it might be argued even if they don't pay for it!) it is their property. If they want it the dentist has to send it along to another office or give it to the patient. The chart is the property of the dentist and he/she will hang onto that, although for a fee they can make photocopies for the patient. But the X-rays are the patients. If the dentist wants them then they can keep or make a copy of them for his/her files. Thanks Dr. Mike. I know, some people just go around giving thumbs down. Kinda takes the fun out of answering people's questions. Trixie makes a good point that I kind of alluded to. Even if the patient owes the dentist money, they can not hold the X-rays for ransom until the debt is paid. This is because it could jeopardize their care. Either they would go and have unnecessary X-rays taken else where, or they wouldn't seek treatment anywhere else. So really if a patient asks for the X-rays, the dentist must hand them over.
