Is this a trick or what? Oral Surgery Registration Clerk didn't include my claim from dental insurance?

Is this a trick or what? Medical registration clerk gave me a form of estimated treatment cost and under the "arrangements for payment" it says "amount to be paid on day of treatment of $____. It seems like she didn't calculate my insurance coverage. Then I was like hm... expensive. Then she said oh I will be writing a letter to the insurance company know that it will cover your cost. The thing was I signed the paper it said "I understand and agree to the above arrangements". I don't even know the exact cost of my wisdom teeth extraction. Before I signed the paper, the lady told me that oh you signed it to make sure that you've review it. I will call you in a week to let you know about it. I don't think it should take a week for it to complete, should it? I feel so stupid in a way that I signed the paper. Please advice!
--------------------
What the receptionist is trying to do or say is... She will be submitting a Pre-Auth to your insurance company. They will send you and the dental office a copy of what they will pay for your extractions. Generally, and I say generally they cover 80% of the fees that your dentist charges. Also, if the insurance company thinks your dentist charges too much, the ins comp will tell you what their allowance is for your extractions and then they will pay 80% of their fee schedule. You will be responsible for your deductible if it has not be satisfied as well as the 20%.I hope this has helped you to understand. Good Luck!

Average cost for dental bonding per tooth?

I know it depends on how much work needs to be done but say you already have good teeth and not much work needs to be done and you're just getting them to change the tooth shape or whatever... Like me I want to bond my four front top teeth... roughly how much would it cost in that case? I don't have dental insurance through my work yet... can I pay with cash or is that not allowed?
--------------------
About $350 per tooth is a rough guess. And you can pay cash. Some dentists will even give you a discount for doing so.

the two teeth I had done cost $750. So I would assume 300ish per tooth. But that's just a guess.

How can i claim from my insurance co for dental work required as a result of a broken jaw?

Hi - when on a trip to Bolivia in February '09, i was in a cycling accident which resulted in me breaking my jaw in 4 places and breaking a number of back teeth. I was in hospital for a week and had an operation to fix my jaw. Because i wasn't physically able to open my mouth for the dentist to repair the damage done this work was not carried out. The insurance company i am with informed me they would cover the costs of ALL work required. After a week they advised i travel back to Ireland (as travelling on would mean they wouldn't cover me for any additional damage i might do to myself) On travelling home i visited my dentist however as my jaw remained to be wired shut there wasn't anything he could do to help. He advised in writing that i should get treatment as soon as i arrived in Sydney. I visited a dentist on numerous occasions since arriving in Sydney and he drafted up a dental report stating quite clearly what work i require, all of which is as a result of my cycling accident. When i mentioned this to my insurance company they kept saying because i travelled home this ended the cover on my policy. I have been trying to argue the point i only travelled home becuase that is what they told me to do - but that they had already agreed to cover ALL costs (they were aware at the time that i required extensive dental treatment) The dentist in Sydney has estimated this is going to cost in excess of $35,000 to repair (broken roots etc...). What are my entitlements here? Although i travelled home - because of the nature of this case am i entitled to get the insurance company to cover my treatment?
--------------------
I've never heard of a clause that says you can't be covered because you returned home (although anything is possible and I'm not familiar with Australian insurance). I would have the dentist submit a pre-estimate of the work needed and be sure to include info that it was due to an accident (details and paperwork.) If you receive a denial then I would ask them to provide a copy of the exact wording in the contract that they are using to deny the coverage. Also see if you can be provided with a copy of the contract/policy. You might need to consult an insurance commissioner (if you have those) or whatever group oversees insurance. If you do so, be sure to have as much as possible in writing.

cheap dentist or good cheap dental clinics in south florida?

help! im in alot of pain i have 5 cavities. im 18 and i have no dental insurance! are their any free or cheap dental clinics or good cheap dentist in my area.ive looked everywhere i just cant seem to find anything
--------------------
Funding has been cut way back for free dental clinics in Florida. Along with everything else, it has been a victim of the recession. There are a few places left that will provide dental care for free (look up "Community Smiles") but the waiting list is unbelievable--over a year!!! If you have pain, you need to go to a dentist, and you need to do it now. Most dentists can work out both a treatment plan and a payment plan. They can fix the hurting teeth first, and then do the others later on. And for payment, many dentists will take payment over time, and others will work with someone like CareCredit, which will allow you to stretch out your payments. (See http://www.carecredit.com/) It really doesn't make sense to put off treating those cavities, or at least the bad ones. If you do, you may wind up needing a root canal, which is 10 times as expensive or more (literally). I wish I knew a terrific and inexpensive dentist, but good dentists usually aren't cheap, and cheap dentists (unless they are doing volunteer work for charity) usually aren't terrific. Just get recommendations for a dentist from friends, family, or coworkers, and work something out with him or her.

Chipped molar, no heath insurance what should I do?

My second to last molar on the left side of my mouth has been chipped for awhile, and today, while I was chewing gum, it chipped further. It creates a gap in between so food and such gets stuck in there sometimes, and now there is a sharp edge on one side. I don't have health or dental insurance. Is there anything I can do to fill the gap myself to at least prevent it from chipping further and getting food stuck in there? Or do I just have to suffer through and deal?

there is nothing much you can do except maintain a good oral hygiene, eat healthy diet & brush regularly. for all the other treatment ,you will have to go to a dentist.

What is my primary insurance?

My company recently changed to Pacificsource for health insurance. But, we still use United Health Care for our dental insurance. I got a bill from my dentist, and on the back it says to notify them of changes in primary and secondary insurance. My question is this: Is Pacificsource now my primary insurance, and UHC my secondary? Or, is UHC still considered my primary insurance for the dental coverage, so that there's no need for me to specify in changes on the bill I will return? Thanks in advance for your answers!
--------------------
Hello, by the statement you have written I can surely say that UHC remains your dental coverage. It seems that your company just changed who may be you medical insurance. The Dental and Medical are considered primary. Hope this helped...insurances can be very confusing!

Does any know how I can get Dental implants or Dentures?

Our Dental Insurance wont cover either unfornetly & my hubby & I both need some......I hate the way Ilook..I have low self esteem & trying to get into Music Biz this is definetly NOT good!! Ned help also cannot borrow any $$ from family members or friends & have no $$ ofmy own not evenin bank living paycheck to paycheck...Is there any fre programs out there that could possibly help us get some ASAP??
--------------------
Dental Implantology is a fairly new area of dentistry and the costs are still high. As time goes on and more and more dentists are involved in these procedures, the cost will come down significantly. There has, in my opinion, been a tendency for certain practitioners to overcharge for dental implant procedures. There are two major costs involved in dental implant treatment. The first is the implant itself and the second is the restoration (tooth or teeth) that is anchored by the implant.

Does anyone know of a good vision insurance?

Like for the dental insurance their is Delta Dental. Anything similar???
--------------------
Yes. Go to Wal-Mart and get an eye exam. It costs abut $60. OR, if you need glasses go to a vision shop with a sale as they'll give you the exam for free. When you're talking low numbers you can't really buy insurance that makes much sense.

Dental insurance....?

I get SO angry at dentists and orthodontists. I have medical and dental insurance. Yet, it seems to me that dental insurance is a big rip-off. I can have extensive surgery and pay a $ 200 copay, yet to have a root canal, I have to pay over $ 1000. To have a simple tooth extraction, it costs (with insurance) around $ 100. For my husband to have bridgework, it is going to cost over $ 3000. Needless to say, I cannot afford for my children to get braces, even though they need them ($ 6000 a pop). Why are dentists so greedy - and/or - why is dental insurance such a rip-off? The only thing it really covers is free cleanings and a small percentage off of fillings. I mean, isn't it ridiculous that someone could have a leg amputated, a new prosthetic device put on, physical therapy administered, and it still cost LESS than a darn root canal? Come on! Anyone feel this way? Any dentists out there who would care to defend this position?
--------------------
Yes, It is a joke.....I couldnt agree more....But thats our government for you..USELESS... lets pay 14 yr olds $3000 to have a baby!!! .& wonder why the country is full of teenage dysfunctional families....Lets keep pokies, alcohol and smokes readily available even tho its destroying countless numbers of lives....Im not trying to defend anything.. merely point out a few things to those who may not be aware. To be fully covered for dental, you have to choose a certain plan. Chances are youll never get a full refund and you will end up paying 50 times more in insurance than medical work needed. They will always have some excuse not to pay you.... like having a 6 monthly checkup 2 days before your six months is up. Even though you are a prompt payer, pay thousands.. its 2 days?? but no....you lose. bad luck.... Why are you angry at dentists for not getting enough refund? Its not their problem. So many patients think its their god given right to get free treatment these days..why should a doctor, dentist or any other professional for that matter feel obliged or guilt tripped into dropping his prices cause you have 6 kids, are unemployed, or dont have insurance, (or do have insurance and they wont pay)? My dad always gets people saying ... Can you change the dates and item no's on my invoice so i get more back from my fund?.......No, thats fraud, and i will get struck off the register....If i pay straight away can i have it cheaper......NO, i expect you to pay now- you dont go to the supermarket and ask that! If i pay cash can i have it cheaper? No, it makes no difference to him if you pay cash, it still goes through the books and he explains its not fair on all the people out there paying to be in a fund.... (see someone is thinking of you!) Im sure they think hes a miserable tight old buggger , But its not his problem! They are there to provide an essential service to all those people out there, that cant be stuffed brushing their teeth properly! Then they have the hide to be upset they 'NEED WORK'...Dental funds are a mugs game! you are wiser to put the money aside. The funds wont even pay half of the treatment cost. It is not the 'solution to end all problems' its made out to be .Just like life insurance...after all you have to be almost dead before they will pay anything...You pay thousands a year to get piece of mind to receive jack shiit in return. Also it depends on who you talk to that day at the fund and what sort of mood she's in on how much you will get back. (believe me, Ive had many altercations on behalf of patients duped- with no joy whatsoever) When a fund says.. sorry that number doesnt exist!!! You ring us and say the number doesnt exist! did you put the wrong number on my receipt?......no,..... that means 'I'm sure the number exists, we just aren't going to re-imburse you for it.....sorry..... As for the dentists point of view..... most of them HATE the funds.. we spend the whole time with patients asking 'how much will the fund give me back'? (stuffed if we know, nor do we care...we want you to pay your bill and take the fund talk..to the fund! the funds are making it impossible for them and they lose patients everyday....because 'GB' fund says unless you go to their dentist of choice who is a 'GB' fund provider you will only get a minimum refund back. If you go to 'GB' dentist you will get %80 back.. so obviously most choose to follow "GB" fund.... little do they know......and as far as i have experienced the dentistry leaves a lot to be desired.. Most dental hospitals and fund clinics are full of new students from overseas... Theyll pull your teeth out before offering you the option of keeping it.. they dont do root canal, its too hard.. and youre getting it cheap, and you dont look after your teeth so why should they- thats the mentality.....if they do......hmm .. I recommend if you find a good dentist you trust?...pay his fee... happily! Its amazing how dumb some people are..... dont tell a dentist you hate him and hes a rip-off just before hes about to give you an injection..DERRRR.. Dentists on the other hand have spent 5+ years at university... thats a lot of fees, (most are still paying them off)a lot of hard work, alot of stress. The suicide rate in dentistry is EXTREMELY high. A very high percentage are HIGHLY addicted to their own happy gas tanks. I agree prices are high...(my dads a dentist, my grandfathers a dentist & ive been in it since 1994... I know how expensive they are. but did you know that dentist chair you sit in cost him about $75,000.00 YES that was not a typo. We wanted to move premises lately, he said...no I havent got $300,000 to do it. He had to be exaggerating. Surely... A syringe of tooth filling costs $156.00 The appointment book we write in costs $50 The rent is $3000 a month, wages are $2000 a week,min.. My boss doesnt know this yet, but this month I have ordered approx $8000 worth of stock. He will craap himself. I dont waste money either. I only get what we need, and i stock up on specials. Every order i do, I save $500 more for him compared to previous nurses. Those cheap plastic sunnies they make you wear cost $40.....why? because dentists need them, and the dental companies know they have the upper hand. If you want to blame someone for the high prices Id start with the suppliers. The nice man that comes to pick up all the sharps and syringe waste..... 2 tiny little plastic containers...$100+. Yearly autoclave tests and services $300..mandatory... Yearly electrical testing of all powerpoints $250. New carpet $3500. It costs us $30 per patient. Just with you sitting in the chair, not even opening your mouth..The plain plastic contraption on the bench that mixes the impression material, I wanted to get one... they cost over $2000.00... You want to complain about prices? Come spend the day with me looking through the product catalogues..$100 for a pair of surgical scissors...$150.00 for a bag of fluoride trays...you know the ones you all complain about having in your mouth..Every time you get a crown, we have to pay the nice man $400 to make it. Those fancy xray machines $60,000.00+ Mine pays $100,000.00 a year on wages. He works 6 days a week. He just wants to retire, but he cant afford it.... go figure! We dont have eftpos and everyone complains? How does 'me' manually swiping a credit card affect them? See they complain when we dont have all the fancy stuff, but complain louder when we do..All you patients that dont turn up, or cancel that morning... we had 2hrs put aside for your crown prep and you have a headache and dont think 'you're up to it today.' My dentist doesnt charge a cancellation fee, but im working on it.....Patients rock up 20 minutes late for a 30 minute appointment... oh sorry, couldnt find a park, had to get little johnny something to eat first.. he was hungry!...Excuse me? Then they are offended when i say with a smile.... 'Sorry, we will have to reschedule your appointment. The Dr cant see you now....What? horror, disbelief, do you know the hassle i went thru to get here? No.. I dont, and i dont care. Get a babysitter next time and be thankful i dont give you a minimum $50 bill for WASTING OUR TIME!!!! as for the mums that turn up expecting me to day care their kids! Hello? again....get a sitter! IM BUSY! My dad suggested i got my degree and took over his practice! I just laughed and said NO THANKS! he couldnt believe it.. what an opportunity for me? I Dont like being stressed. Dont like owing money, wouldnt like patients telling me they hate me and dont want to be here...everyday... how depressing! No wonder they are all committing suicide... all those years of stress and study? You can make more these days being a tradey....sparky...plumber... Its not the medical professionals you should be venting your anger at... sometimes its nice to understand & appreciate the 'other side of things'.

In the u.k, is private medical/dental insurance worth paying for?

Do you get a better, more efficent service?
--------------------
you dont necessarily get a better service cos lets face it the NHS at its best is hard to beat - ie I am referring to our hard working nurses and doctors. Unfortunately it is straped for cash. Private you often get the same specialist on NHS and private - but private means you can get treated immediately. My dad needed heart surgery and the waiting list was 18 months long, it took a lot of thought, and he still felt bad about it, but he had insurance and decided to go private. He was back at work well within 18 months, and they discovered a complication that could well have killed him if he had waited that long. Shame on the powers that be that have destroyed our NHS.
