Do teachers get a benefit discount on veneers for their teeth?

I heard that teachers get health insurance on dental and eye wear but are they covered on veneers. veneers would cost 10-15 thousand, i wonder if a full time teacher gets a cheaper price since they have benifits?
--------------------
No. Teachers get regular dental insurance like other people with jobs. Veneers are cosmetic (not necessary) so they are not covered by insurance.

is it safe to get dental work done if you are pregnant?

i lost a filling by trying to chew on taffy. the pain it so bad, but if i go to the dentist will they be able to do anything because i am pregnant? i would have called by now to ask but my regular dentist is only open mon. through thurs. and i can't find another one who takes my insurance
--------------------
yes, you can and should have dental work done while pregnant, just make sure to tell your dentist you are pregnant so they can make sure to take special care of you myself i needed to have a wisdom tooth pulled while pregnant... i was in such bad pain over it is was effecting my eating which was of course not good for the baby.... my dentist required a letter from my OB before they would consent to treat me... i was even able to have a dental xray, they took extra precautions including doubling my lead aprons so call your dentist first thing monday, and make sure to start out by saying you are pregnant incase they want a letter from your OB

I'm homeless with a job and a car...How do I survive this way until I can do better...any suggestions?

I have a low paying job with no chance for overtime but I do have medical insurance and dental.
--------------------
Hmmm, where do you live? Do you really need a car? In California, yes, other parts of the country, maybe not. Look in paper under rooms to rent, and find a nice home to rent a room in. It is inexpensive, and you will be able to save enough to get money ahead for your own place. Until then, look for a better job,(one with the medical and dental you have now) keep yourself clean and well presented, educate yourself so that you can be in a better position in a few years. When I was poor, I had a house, so rented out all of the bedrooms and stayed on the couch. I'm a private person, so it was sheer torture, but it was a means to an end. You can do anything you put your mind and your will into; just don't give up and don't expect to be in the best home right now. One step at a time. Surviving is about looking at life in the right attitude. All of us are poor at times in some way..in spirit, in finances, in education, in friends. Just do your part and the rest will fall into place.

Should i cancel my great west life insurance coverage?

I am in california and my rates has just gone up by $60/month, its a lot of money and we don't use it that much except for dental(cleaning, check up) for me and my two daughters and once every two years eye exam for myself - I realize I pay less taxes due to having it, but is still a big expense

Do we get free dental care with the Hillary plan ?

I have no insurance and had to pay the dentist yesterday and it would be great if it was free .
--------------------
Not so great for the Dentist who paid over 100,000 to get his/her degree, not to mention the time involved to do such. Add in a million dollars worth of equipment along with insurance rates that are beyond comprehension. Include the rent/mortgage on the location at thousands per month and assistant pay that reaches 40,000 - 60,000 per year along with any additional employees and you want a free visit. Sounds fair to me.

How to do Medical & Dental Expenses Reimbursement in CA for kids?

Anyone here from california and know if there is a specific process for how one parent reimburses the other for medical and dental expenses not covered by insurance? This is a divorce situation where the kids are covered by the moms insurance.
--------------------
You need to pay by check notating what the expense is for. She needs to provide you with copies of the bills so that you can pay your half. You will also need a receipt showing payment. When you get all that done, you need to start a file with all these things. Staple together: Copy of the bill Cancelled check Receipt showing payment. Put all that together so you'll have it in the future if needed.

Most affordable health insurance?

I know its going to be expensive regardless, I can't afford to go through my work's insurance (over $200 a month). Researching online for medical/dental coverage. Anyone know a good insurance to go through?
--------------------
Ultimately, you are the one who determines the affordability of your health insurance plan by deciding how much you will participate in sharing the cost of your health care with your insurance company. You decide what the right balance is between affordability and policy benefits. If you choose a plan that covers everything i.e. doctors office visits, prescription drugs, preventative health benefits, maternity coverage as well as low deductibles, low copays and optional vision and dental benefits your monthly premiums will be significant. On the other hand if you are young, presumably healthy and probably use the health care system sparingly you could consider a plan that covers only the major health catastrophe. If that is too scary consider a plan with a higher in hospital deductible, higher co-pays for doctor's office visits and perhaps not cover prescription drugs.. Either of these approaches will result in a lower monthly premium. You then can use the monthly premium savings to pay for the occasional doctor visit or prescription and still come out ahead. You need a trusted adviser to help you through the process of purchasing health insurance so that you understand what you are purchasing. That adviser can answer questions as to what is and is not covered by the policy, explain deductibles and copays and show you the hospitals and doctors that participate in the network. Check with the agent that writes your home or auto insurance he/she can provide you a health insurance proposal that takes into account your budget and health situation. Some are going to suggest you go to their web site so that they earn a few pennies on a "click through". Some may suggest going on line to get a quote but you probably already know that there is more to a good health insurance policy than price. Some might even "pitch" a discount plan that is not insurance at all. Use the Internet to educate yourself but use an agent to purchase the coverage.

Is Ameriplan health coverage a scam?

I came across Ameriplan while looking for dental insurance online. I have visited their site, watched the videos on them and read reviews, but most reviews and statements I've read are from people that work for them. Have any of you had insurance through them? I'm just wondering if their service is good or would any of you recommend them, or is this just another scam?
--------------------
I've done the math on one of these plans. You are much better off paying out of your own pocket. Even with some plans you get through work. You end up paying less per year if you just need routine check ups. /

Should homeowners pay more tax so single moms on welfare can be given a car and insurance?

If homeowners paid a little more in property taxes single moms on public assistance could be given a car and insurance. Free housing, utilities, food stamos, medical and dental are good but a car, and insurance should also be given. Its hard to afford cell phones and cable TV for a single mom on assistance.
--------------------
when i was a single mom, i had two jobs, so i could afford to have a car, i never asked for anything, and maybe they should get a job.

Can one deduct dental work done in another country?

--------------------
No problem. You can deduct health care expenses. Where they are incurred is irrelevant.

Need the advice of a dentist?

I am getting either my molar or wisdom (is there a difference?) in the back bottom of my teeth. There is a little bit of tooth sticking out but the rest seems to be still under the gum. When I press my finger there I notice that it has a very bad smell to it. Why is this? Is that tooth underneath decayed? I have no dental insurance and not employed at this time.
--------------------
Food, plaque, and bacteria pack around the tooth under the gum. It is a dark ,warm place and the bacteria thrive. They will cause infection, pain, and swelling. This is a chronic condition and will continue to get worse. You need to have an x-ray of your wisdom teeth to evaluate them and see if they may need to be removed. In the meantime take a teaspoon of salt and mix it in a cup of warm water. Vigorously rinse the area and spit out. Do this every couple of hours. Good luck.

I have a loose front tooth from a fall, is there anything I can do beside going to a dentist?

Two weeks ago, I fell and smacked the left side of my head/face on the floor. As a result, my front tooth loosened. After all this time, it is still loose, I do not have dental insurance to go to a dentist, so I am looking for a "self solution" if there is one out there. Thanks,
--------------------
You really need to figure out some way to go to the dentist. You may have no visible damage to the tooth, but if it's loose you can possibly have damage to the roots. Just like with a plant, if the root is damaged the plant can die; so can your tooth. You can also get an infection in your gums and loose more teeth. A standard checkup is relatively inexpensive, and they can diagnose and give you an estimate on what it will cost if something does not need to be done, and then you can come back later and get it done. Also, a lot of places will be willing to set up a payment plan for work done that can be extremely reasonable......sorry for your fall.

I don't know if this is a baby tooth or pemanant, it's loose?

I'm 15 and still losing baby teeth, I just lost one a few months ago and I thought I had only one left. But lately my one of my molars has been hurting a little and it's loose. I'm really worried, I can't remember if I ever lost a tooth there or not. How can I tell without going to the dentist? I don't have dental insurance.
--------------------
Adult teeth don't get loose or fall out unless you have very severe periodontal disease. (Which I doubt you have.) You just have another baby tooth that is ready to come out.

Dental school work on my teeth?

Just went to the dentist yesterday and they said I need about $5700 worth of work on my teeth. Extractions, Partials, and etc. Anyway I do not have the money and my insurance is making me pay cash first then reimburse me? I was wondering if anyone knows if a dental school would do this work for me at a good price? And could I just get my work done one thing at a time? Like pay for the first partial then do the other awhile later?
--------------------
most dental schools use patients to practice their teaching so yeah i think you can do it at a dental clinic. check to see if theres any near you and good luck

What can I do for a painfull tooth?

I dont have dental insurance and a tooth with a hole in it cause by a cavity. Is there anything other than an dental visit I can do? Please help it hurts and I do not have the money to go to the dentist.
--------------------
One quick remedy is to get some warm water and put salt (real salty) in it the water and gargle it (around the tooth that hurts). The pain should dull a little until you can get to the dentist. Just do this everytime you feel pain.

Anyone have trouble with grinding your teeth?

If so, have you found a way to stop? I do it unconsciously during the day only sometimes but mostly at night and I don't even notice it. It causes lots of pain sometimes but I'm not sure how to make myself stop... any ideas? I've tried mouth guards, they are uncomfortable and I usually take them out, but if that's the only option, I guess I'll have to get over it and keep it in. Also, I don't have health insurance until September, so I'm looking for a temporary solution until I get my dental insurance back.
--------------------
im pretty sure that your only option is a mouth guard. i have the same problem you do,and it sucks

Can anyone recommend a good dentist in the Indianapolis area?

Looking for a new dentist in the Indianapolis area...preferably on the south, southeast or east side. Two criteria for starters...that he/she works with Delta Dental Insurance and the office does whitening trays. It's okay if you don't know if they work with Delta Dental or not. I can look that up. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated...and tell me why you like your dentist.

Can I use my health insurance straight away?

I am only interested in the Basics extras cover which covers general dental. It says on this particular cover that there is no waiting period, I have to get fillings on Monday so if I join today does that mean I can claim for Monday?
--------------------
Im not sure but as far as I know here in Ireland there is a six month period. Basically when we sign up, we are not actually covered for 6 months. So we cannot sign up and claim straight away. Maybe someone can clarify or confirm this. Your best bet would be to call and check, without giving away specifics.

Can I claim my child as a dependent and have him/her on his/her mom's insurance?

My girlfriend and I are expecting a child in early January. Her insurance is far better than mine, but I make almost 3 times what she makes. So I think that I would benefit the most from claiming our child as a dependent on my taxes, however I would really like to keep our child on her insurance, like I sai it is better than mine. She gets medical, dental & vision for less than I pay for medical. Also our coverages, co-pays, etc. are the same. I don't even know if it is possible to have one parent claim them as a dependent and have another parent put them on their insurance. Any advice or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!!
--------------------
The insurance carrier may have restrictions. The IRS has no restriction on what you are planning to do. If the child qualifies both parents to take the dependency exemption, unless there is a specific question by the insurance company as to whether the dependency exemption was actually claimed, you should be fine claiming your child on your tax return, and the mother carrying the child on her health insurance. Added later: Do not assume that since you make more money, the dependency exemption is more valuable to you. Do the taxes both ways, the mother may qualify for Earned Income Credit.

I'm 18 and want to move out of my parents' house. What is a good, inexpensive health insurance plan?

I would also like to be covered for dental and eye visits.

I would encourage you to visit this great site: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago when I was in college and they have saved me thousands on health services. From Medical, Dental, Chiro, Vision, Rx...etc. They even had my extremely affordable benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use them the very same day. hope this helps.
