malpractice insurance for dental hygienists ?

Hi , does anybody know which is the best malpractice insurance company for dental hygienists in the New York / New Jersey area . I took a policy from one company for $100 per year and they said they would cover upto 1 million to 6 million $ ....Is that true , does anybody know how it works or anybody in a similar situaution , pls reply .
--------------------
As a dental hygienist you should be a member of the ADHA if not become a member. You can buy malpractice insurance through ADHA. The company is called MARSH. Once you log in as an ADHA member on the site then you go to benefits and choose liability insurance through MARSH. It cost 66 or 77 dollars per year only!!! I got the 77 dollar plan because it covers 2 mil per incident with a 4 mil max. And the coverage is for 1 year and you pick the start date. www.adha.org

anyone know a good dental insurance co. for a single person?

I need dental work that in total will cost around 6000$ give or take. I have no dental insurance and I am single. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good company. i live in Washington State. Thanks!!
--------------------
I found that actual dental insurance covered only about as much as our premiums. ie. $1500 of coverage was costing me around 1500 a year... Not all things are covered at 100% (most major stuff was only covered at 50%...root canals, etc).... I wound up dropping our dental insurance for a discount program which is a whole lot cheaper but offers percentages that aren't that much higher than our old dental insurance, plus there is no maximum coverage- so for the epic $10k I still need in reconstruction- I would have wound up eating $8500...With the discount program I'm probably only going to be spending around $4000... Plus the premium for my entire family was under $200 for the year.... The company offers a bunch of different plans- you just enter your zip code and can even search by name...So it isn't traditional insurance, but after looking at our employer sponsored insurance program I really would hesitate calling their "dental insurance" (and it was a very well known insurance company) insurance at all... Of course they have a referral program- every person that signs up gives me another 3 months on my plan. The site is: http://www.dentalplans.com and my referral code is: 35C11R77 I just used this coupon but if you sign up you might want to try it: it was 25% off with code: REACH08 I'm not trying to sell the program, but I have used it first for my parents and they found it useful and now for my family being that we are bogged down financially paying COBRA and found that we were saving money by dropping the dental insurance portion...

Is it safe to go without health/dental/Rx insurance from now until early Oct? Or is it too much of a gamble?

I just graduated college and my insurance ran out. I am taking a job that starts in September and will give me full health coverage 1 month after I start. I am a young and fairly healthy female, although I do have IBS and some other problems, mostly relating to the digestive system, reproductive system, and my skin. I eat a balanced diet and try to exercise regularly. I have only needed to visit the emergency room 3 times in my entire life. When responding, please give me an informed answer, not just yes or no. Please also explain your reasoning. Also, other than Aetna or Cobra, is there any other short-term insurance I can purchase? Doctor's answers especially welcome. Thank you!
--------------------
If you have car insurance see if you can add coverage for accident-related injury. That way at least you are covered for car accidents which would probably be the most likely thing that would land you in an ER. It is a gamble, but it's one most of us have had to take at some time in our lives. Also check into coverage offered by your state. Usually there is some kind of public program you can participate in... it may not be the best coverage but it might give you a little peace of mind for the next few months without the usually large premiums associated with COBRA coverage.

how much will a dental insurance home depot worker cover? like the average.. for orthodontics
--------------------
Well, I live in the US and we have insurance through the hospital where my husband works and it covers 75% on most things and (I think) 2 cleanings a year. I don't know if that's any help or not. You might be able to find out by calling the Insurance company themselves or your Benefits office.

I want dental insurance so I can go to my own dentist. Is there any program that allows that. I?

I am a widow over 65. My dentist is not enrolled in any programs.
--------------------
You need to get a dental PPO rather then an HMO- if you can afford it. A PPO usually allows you to go to any dentist of your choice. PPO's usually don't limit you to picking a dentist within a certain group or getting a referral to see a specialist.

I am appealing denial of dental implants and how can the insurance company get away with this?

I had my right mandibular removed due to cancer in 2002. [did not smoke or drink]. I appealed the policy on dental implants and the medical review board for the company I work for over turned their denial in 2003. The company changed insurance companies in 2004. I got the run around and was finally allowed to appeal them. I was also sent a letter stating I could have this done in 2004. The insurance company still would not let the doctors do this procedure. Mainly reconstruction of my jaw and implants. The doctors coded properly and twice sent preauthorization with no responses. I finally was allowed a second appeal. I was given the forms and sent the appeal in. I have proof of delivery but the insurance company said they misplaced the package. Finally after 2 months they sent another denial letter also stating this was the end of the administrative process, which is not true, I am allowed a third appeal which I did and sent it in. I have not heard back yet. A rep from the insurance company and the company I work for are to look at the appeal. I am sure I will get the same response even tho I have proof of delivery. I am not finding any lawyers interested in this and I feel I have a good case, since the insurance company has mishandled this whole appeal. I would send all this information to the ceo but am afraid I would lose my job, even tho my work record is good. I also requested, twice now, copies of the whole appeal case, which I am allowed to do with no charge to me. This company is a big company world wide.
--------------------
If you are in the US you can file a complaint with the state bureau (department) of insurance. You are a consumer and have certain rights. The state will investigate to see if your insurance company has mishandled your case.

My room mate doesn't have dental insurance and is getting a cavity that really hurts and needs attention!?

We live in Iowa... He doesn't really know any options
--------------------
Many cities have dental care facilities for people who have no dental insurance. I suggest calling the Iowa State Health Department, local dentists, local churches, the Salavation Army, Goodwill--any charitable organization, that might be able to put your roommate in contact with dental help. As a member of a Federally recognized Native American Indian tribe, I have access to dental care via Indian health care. I pay nothing for medical or dental care at an Indian hospital or clinic. I pay nothing for visual tests or eyeglass frames. I do have to pay for the prescription lenses. Perhaps your roommate qualifies for Indian Health Care. Should your roommate be a U.S. Military veteran, he/she may qualify for dental care through the Veteran's Administration.

are there any affordable health and dental insurance plans out there,i mean really affordable?

i am going through a financial crisis so to say, and cant find any affordable health and dental plans out there.
--------------------
Honestly, if you're in a financial crisis, buying a dental plan is hard to do. I bought my health insurance on www.ehealthinsurance.com. They are the easiest site I've found to compare benefits of companies at certain premium price levels. I did it for Washington State. I believe they have other states. If you're hoping to use the insurance to save you health care costs, the answer is probably no. A $500 deductible plan is very expensive. If you're trying to prevent a worst-case catastrophic event, then there are a number of inexpensive plans available. When you analyze if you are going to get insurance, consider the reason. If it's to save on health care costs short term, frequently, by the time you pay for the premiums and deductibles, it would have been cheaper to simply out of pocket the expense. Email me with any questions. Good luck, Jared

Lost heath/dental insurance, anything more affordable than COBRA?

I just graduated from college and have 30 days to determind if I stay with the COBRA plan (about $350 a month) or find other insurance. I don't mind having to use in-network doctors. I'm also based in NJ if that makes a difference. Any ideas on what I can use? Much appreciated.
--------------------
Well, there might be some health insurance cheaper than your cobra, HOWEVER, you won't find effective, stand alone dental. Your BEST bet is to take Cobra month to month until you have a job. And take any job you can find that will give you benefits.

Strange Dental Insurance Question?

Why isn't dental insurance part of health Insurance? You don't have head, back or leg insurance so why do our teeth?
--------------------
Dental work is in general pretty cheap compared to other medical procedures, so they keep it separate. I like your thinking, though - it should be the same, and in the US it should also be free....
