22 y/o, pregnant, cant afford dental care. Suggestions?

I am 22 years old and my daughter is due next month. I am currently unemployed due to my high risk pregnancy. I went to the dentist for a check up and cleaning last year, and was charged $150 just for that. I was told I have 4 cavities that need filled, but theres no way I can afford it now. Especially with a new baby. I live in Tennessee, and the state insurance here only covers dental until you are 20 years old. Does anyone know of any other alternatives? Also, I cant find a dentist to do payment plans, without having basically perfect credit. They all think I'm too young and see it ask a 'risk.'

Do community colleges offer insurance?

if so what kind? medical? dental? vision? or would i have to look elsewhere for insurance
--------------------
Most CC do not offer this type of insurance. Imagine if the CC did, it would crazy considering the fact that most CC can be universities.

I scraped the enamel off my teeth, what to do!?

I'm pretty sure this happened, because the back of my teeth are now soft, and I could feel slivers of hard flakey material coming off of them, I tried to clean my teeth with those metal picks from the pharmacy. I have no dental insurance and I'm broke. (hench trying to clean my own teeth.) It will be a while before seeing a dentist, what can I do in the meantime to help?
--------------------
At first, you may collect as much information as you can by inputing the relevant keywords in search engine,if you get good luck there ,then your problem is solved.nevertheless,if you could not find the ideal answer for your question by doing that, here http://www.HealthInsuranceFree.info is the resource i suggest.

Do anyone know of a free clinic that will pull my teeth, in FortLauderdale, Fl? Or close to it?

I am in sooo much pain. I have no dental insurance, and I wanted to know of a free clinic that will pull this tooth out. Pleassse help me........
--------------------
Not free, but the fees at the dental school in your area would be half that of a regular dentist. The dental school in Ft. Lauderdale would be the Nova Southeastern University's school of dentistry. Give them a call, and good luck.

health insurance for college student?

I'm currently a full time college student at 19 years old and looking for affordable decent health insurance. I don't work right now either and am still paying off a 2k dental bill with the money i had... (sigh) any good plans? (im in southern california by the way)
--------------------
Agents vary in their opinions. I happen to be a fan of Health Net, rather than Blue Cross for my younger clients. Blue Cross has great marketing with their Tonic plans, but Health Net always beats them on benefits. I have some plans that my young clients have been very happy with, that have no deductibles for most of their care Also, since dental is an issue, there are number of plans that do very well in So. Cal. I suggest research on-line, but buy from an agent who knows the market and can help.

Do all full time jobs off paid vacation?

I just applied for a job at a restaurant called Flying J for a full time hostess position. Every place I've worked at always offers paid vacation for full time employees. I'm not sure if this job offers paid vacation or not. I do know they offer benefits such as dental, medical, vision and life insurance. Do all full time jobs offer paid vacation or just some?
--------------------
It varies from company to company. It is not mandatory for companies to offer it.

Whats the deal with lingual braces?

Cost? (both my parents have full family dental insurance) Time? (longer than normal braces?) Discomfort? (any other problems) Makeing-out? (saw on a forum somewhere that lingual braces could make this tough, enlighten me)

ORTHODONTISTS FIND THESE CUMBERSOME AND DIFFICULT TO WORK WITH. THEY CHARGE ABOUT THREE TIMES AS MUCH FOR THEM. THEY CAN BE INJURIOUS TO THE TONGUE AS METAL CONTACTS IT. MAKING OUT MIGHT NOT BE AS PLEASURABLE WITH THEM.

Treatment of congenital dental problems?

I have a congenetal dental issue called Ameleogenesis Imperfecta which has cost me many teeth over the years. I now have compromised ability to chew. Dentures are a poor option. I live in the Nashville area in TN and have poor credit mostly because of the dental fees involved. Does anyone know of any way to get a lot of work done? Since this is congenital, is there any chance normal health insurance (not dental, which is all but useless to me) would pick up the tab? Are there any dentists with options for me out there? This is a big deal to me asthetically and functionally. I have one pair of occluding molars left, and my remaining teeth are in danger of snapping off. I have had 17 extractions.
--------------------
I am very sorry for your situation. I do not know your financial situation, but if there is anyway you could get on medicaid in your state all that would be covered. I don't even know if they have it there. We have it in N.C. where I am. You could check with the local college to see if they do work there for low cost. Here the local college does extractions for $25.00 each, cleanings are $30.00. They are under the supervision of a certified dentist. Ask around to see if any local charities have monies put back for medical situations to help people. As far as regular health insurance you would probably have to fight with them to get it covered. You could counsel with a lawyer, it would probably be to your benefit. Good Luck :)

Has any one else had this dental problem?

I just got back from the dentist and they said that I need to see a periodontic, and if I dont see there is a possiability that my teeth could fall out. I brush twice a day and I floss. I am totally freaking out. I dont have insurance and that would be so expensive. My question is, is this really nessecarry.
--------------------
Do you remember anything about periodontal pocket numbers being called out or discussed with you? If you had several teeth (10 or more) that had pockets greater than 6mm than I would consider you a higher risk for dentures or partials in the future. Personally, I would treat a patients gum disease before sending them to the periodontist unless the bone levels were severely low. Many hygienists' and dentists' want to refer patients out even if the pockets are 5-7mm deep. I can, and have treated patients with pockets this deep and deeper. If your dentist will not treat your gum disease then you may want to get another opinion. The factors for referral for me would be: your age, how deep the pockets are, how many teeth are involved that have deep pockets, what condition is the bone level. If you smoke the odds are strongly against you......... Education is the key to treating gum disease. It does not matter what type of gum therapy you have (Scaling/Root Planning, or Flap Surgery) if you don't learn HOW to take better care of your teeth, you will lose them.

My dentist just remembered to send me a bill from June 2006, am I still obligated to pay?

I don't have dental insurance and paid $335 last June for my wisdom tooth removal. Now a year later, I got a bill in the mail stating that I have a balance of $205 that's due. When I called the office, the staff told me my original payment was only to cover their estimate, and I still have to pay the remaining balance. Since they forgot to send me the bill for as long as 12 months, am I still obligated to pay?
--------------------
Yes and if you don't pay you risk the possibility of being sent to Collection. The procedures were done, insurance or no insurance, and some offices are WAY behind on their billing procedures. Hospitals are also notorious for this as well. You may not like it, but I will also bet money they had you sign an agreement stating such when you had your first visit. If there is a discrepancy in the bill you can talk it over with them, but an unexpected bill is rarely a friendly discussion. Good luck.

I went to the dentist the other day?

I have dental insurance and needed a crown & root canal. The crown was something called lava crown. The whole thing cost me 1,000 bucks even. I had crowns about 13 years ago and it cost 500 bucks for each one WITHOUT dental insurance. Do i just have a rip off dentist? Or is there better insurance out there? When i asked how much it wouldve cost without insurance they said 2,400 dollars. Geez for 1 crown and root canal?

No That is how much it costs these days

Health Insurance Question...?

Alright, so I am covered under my dads company insurance for health and dental. He has insurance by Aetna, and I was planning on moving out soon. So, I was wondering, if I go to school full time at the local community college, as I have been for the last year, will the insurance policy still cover me even though I don't live with the parents anymore, but I would still be in school full time.
--------------------
Your dad will have to ask his employer, companies can make their own policies in reference to dependent coverage even though Aetna has their own set of guidelines. If they won't keep you on an individual policy can be purchased and if you get a high deductible HSA it would not cost very much per month.

do you need to have your wisdom teeth removed?

my friends alll have thier wisdom teeth removed and i dont and im 17. is it bad if u never get it removed? whats the point of it? and i have no health insurance or dental or anything at all so...how much would it cost if i did get one?
--------------------
Wisdom teeth can cause a ton of health problems. If all of them come in perfectly, then you're fine, but the majority of people's wisdom teeth are impacted and crowd other teeth. If you never have them removed, they can damage other teeth and will rot in your gums. It will probably cost around 1-3 thousand depending on many factors, such as the quality of the surgeon, awake or sedated, how many teeth pulled, etc. Good luck :)

Registerned Nurse or Dental Hygienist?

I am a junior in high school, and trying to think about what career to pursue. I have been to the Occupation Outlook Handbook website and I know the salaries about about the same, with dental hygienists median salary being a little higher. Basically, what are the pros and cons of each job, and how can I decide? OOH says the dental hygienist occupation is expected to grow faster than average with tough competition in some areas, but I have read online that many dental hygienists are struggling to find work and decent hours. Also, is there room for salary and position growth in the dental hygienist occupation? I know there is in nursing. I have also read that there is bad health coverage/insurance for dental hygienists. Is this true? Thanks for any help! I have a lot of questions =).
--------------------
Go for Nursing. They make great money, are always in demand (think about how many are employed in just one hospital), and have more opportunities available to them. The market for Dental Hygiene is flooded right now and there not really any advancement opportunities. Plus they are limited on where they can work - only in dentist's offices, where there are typically 4-8 hygienists based on the size of the office. Yes, the salary is good for DH, but only if you can find a full-time job. My best friend graduated from DH last May & still does not have a full-time job. The only thing she has managed to find is a temporary position for a woman who's out on maternity leave.

how much do full dental veneers cost?

Both sides of my family have horrible teeth. I brush and practice good oral higene but I still have horible teeth and want to get veneers my insurance will only cover 50% but I have an uncle who lives in central america and practices orthodoncy and could give me a hook up just trying to compare cost of here through ins. vs. flight, hotel, and dentistry.
--------------------
Oh man. If you're that concerned about your teeth, get it done right, through your insurance company at a good dentist. Not saying your uncle is bad. I think it would be cheaper here. Veneers might crack and break over time. You probably won't be able to bite into food with them - like apples. Veneers are placed on the front of the tooth only. So, they might have a lip that hangs over your natural teeth, causing them to fall off. You'd be better off getting crowns - they will cover the whole tooth (front and back). They will last longer too. 50% is great for insurance to cover. Think if it was none. I would say it's about $1000 per tooth. For either crown or veneer. I'm getting two crowns - my insurance covers 50%. I pay $843 for my half. In Seattle. That's for both teeth. I'd plan on saving $500 per tooth.

private health insurance......?

I'm trying to figure out if buying private health insurance and dental would be beneficial to my husband and myself. I found a plan that is around 350 a month for both of us (includes health and dental). It doesn't have a deductible so with that comes higher copays and whatnot. My husband doesn't really go to the doctor ever. He mostly just wants dental. He's 25 and healthy but he seems to get sick a lot more than myself but nothing big. I have to go to the doctor a lot. I have a lot of stomach problems and I also really need the dental since my wisdom teeth need to come out and I have braces so I have to get my teeth cleaned every three months. I'm wondering if it would just be cheaper to pay cash to go to a doctor/dentist instead of paying 350 a month. I don't really think I go to a doctor that much in a year. It would be 4200 a for the health insurance and that doesn't include what I might have to pay at the actual visit...
--------------------
You might want to look into two separate policies. A high deductable plan for your husband, for catastrophic coverage and a lower deductable plan for you. There is no doubt that you will be rated up for the acid reflux. I agree with the fact that you are betting that you will not use the insurance, but with your stomach issues. You definitely will. As for Dental Insurance. Most plans do have waiting periods and limits. I know of one that doesn't have either. It is a HMO, and If you are if Florida by any chance let me know.

My teeth are very sensitive to cold and hot foods and transparent at the edges, especially the front teeth....?

they also have large gaps between them and generally move when I try to move them with two fingers. Can I have an implant dentist completely remove them all and put in stronger and bigger implants since I can't bite on anything hard with these "baby teeth" either????? I do have dental insurance, so I assume it should should not be expensive.
--------------------
You need to see a cosmetic dentist. You should brush with Sensodyne toothpaste to relieve the sensitivity. There are mouthwashes that can strengthen your enamel. Implants are too drastic. Bonding is probably the way to go.

oil of oregano cures tooth decay?

I don't have dental insurance & have to have a very pricey procedure due to tooth decay on one of my teeth. The decay is under one of my prior fillings. I have started putting oil of oregano on the area since i've heard it can almost cure the decay, can anyone help me out on what im actually doing by putting this on the tooth and does this really work?
--------------------
It may help but it burns like the dickens. I have a colloidal silver machine and started making colloidal silver and swishing it in my mouth and also drinking it. I don't know how deep that oil will go under the filling though, if it is enough to actually kill the infection. I do know that I had a sore tooth and gums and since using the colloidal silver they are good now. You can also use colloidal silver for many other types of infections.

Has anyone ever had invisalign? How is it?

Does it work? Is it expensive? (I have good dental insurance, but I'm not sure they cover it.) How quickly does it work?
--------------------
Invisalign works if you do what is required of you for compliance. If at any time during or right after invisalign if something needs tweaked Invisalign includes this in your cost. Prices range office to office. We charge 4200.00. An office 30 min away is 5200.00. Shop around. Most ins. will cover $1000.00 on ortho. Each case is different so you never know how long you will be in them until you go for your clin-check.
