How much does Tricare cover for a tooth implant?

I'm a spouse and I'm in need of an implant. I'm just now getting onto dental insurance so I haven't been able to go to the dentist and ask them these question. My civilian doctor told me a few years ago that I was going to need an implant by 20. I'm now 21 and in desperate need of dental care lol. Its a real medical problem. I have a baby molar with no tooth underneath. Thus loosing the tooth would cause all of my teeth to shift. Its the only tooth that has a problem. All my other teeth are perfect (amazingly). So how much does Tricare cover? We're kind of in the hole for money. I don't have a job and the military really doesn't pay that good. (Husbands an E-4). From what I have researched it will supposedly pay for it in full as long as its a real medical situation. But I'd like to know more.
--------------------
First of all, a dental implant will probably run you between $2500-$3000 including the crown. I do not think Tricare covers any of the implant and maybe they will cover 50% of an implant crown. Even if they do cover an implant, you should have a maximum payment by the insurance of $1000-$1500. If you just got the insurance, you might have a waiting period too for major procedures, which this is one. Don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but if you get an implant, you will probably be resposible for anywhere from $1500-$3000. Insurance may pick up $1500 all the way down to nothing. A dental implant is not considered a medical necessity and will not be covered by your medical at all. Best of luck to you.

Who Wants to Sue Pepsi With Me???....Is this even possible???

okay so i went to the dentist and had to get 8 cavities filled one which needed a crown and two others he suggested crowns, but i had maxed out my dental insurance for the year. now he said the cause of my problems could possibly be from poor brushing flossing habits, but then he said something about drinkin a lot of soda...which i drink about 12 to 36 oz of Pepsi products in a day. Well I believe that Pepsi Cola should put some type of warning label on their beverages stating that over consumption may cause teeth decay and discoloration...they always have such beautiful celebrities with pearly white teeth in their commericals, just blatantly misleading the general public...so I want to sue for the cost of my dental bill about $1,600 and pain and suffering (because they intentionally make products with addicting drug like caffiene so you have to keep drinking the dang on soda and i tried caffiene free pop but im hooked to the regular soda) so my grand total is about say $101,600.
--------------------
The judge will toss it out with in moments... In the US, I know they have dental health classes in school, so that kills your excuse about the teeth decay. Caffine isn't recognized as an addictive drug by the courts... so there goes that reason... $100,000 for pain and suffering ?? ANOTHER reason for TORT reform.

Going to the dentist soon (hopefully). How long do you think it will take to fix my teeth?

So, hopefully around September I can finally get myself into a dentist. I stopped going to the dental school because it was just taking TOO LONG and was stressing me out and I was missing sooooo much school. Anyway, so far, I have around 16 cavities. I had a root canal started, but I'm not sure how far they got (it took like 5 visits) I am missing half at that tooth now because the temporary filling fell out and I chipped it while eating cereal the other night. I also have a back tooth that is chipped. I am 16 and I went to the dentist a year ago, I think. I'm really hoping I can get to one in September, or sooner if I can find a dentist that will take me (I have Medicaid and there aren't a lot of dentists that will take me). About how many visits do you think it will take for them to fix my teeth? I just want to get this over with. It's sooo stressful. How many fillings can they do at a time? I don't think Medicaid covers crown and I know I'm going to need 1 at least probably. My dad doesn't make a lot of money. Are most dentists able to work out payment plans for poor people? We can't afford dental insurance.

Are there any make your own denture or partial kit?

I've had a partial done, however I've lost 3 more teeth since then. I paid nearly $900 (that was co-pay) and at this moment, I don't have any dental insurance and none of the dentists are willing to take a low payment plan, and I don't generate alot of free to spend income since I have 7 children. (Yes I know I'm crazy for having so many...) Yes there is a free dental place here, but they have a waiting list of a year....it's very difficult for me to eat just about any type of food, (the weight loss is appreciated but I don't want to be super skinny!) Thank you for your time

Tooth hurts. Any reasonable home remedies?

Have been reading online about all the ridiculous home cures Lemon extract (doesn't work for more than .5 seconds), clove powder (because I have this sitting around), bark wood from some exotic berry plant (did I mention I live in the jungle?) and other ridiculous suggestions. Does anyone have reasonable ideas? I've been downing advil and swashing salt water all night. I cannot sleep. I need to sleep. I have not slept since sunday. I am still waiting on the slow *** insurance company to put me on dental insurance, but I can't wait. I think I'll have to pay full price at the dentist, with all the money I don't earn from the job I don't have. As you can see life is fantastic. I can't wait to stay awake for the rest of the week. Any suggestions?
--------------------
i know this sounds weird but do you have any bactine, if you put it in your mouth it numbs it. dont swallow it tho, if you can get to a store get some lidocane or benzocane should be in the toothpaste isle it will numb your mouth, any plant that will numb your mouth. other than that tooth pain is the worst and you just have to take a pain killer to not feel the pain

Job offered to someone else while in negotiations?

I recently interviewed for a job, and they sent me an offer. I am married, and do not need medical/dental insurance so I asked if I could receive additional compensation in lieu of this. I was told by my contact that she would check and get back to me. I emailed her the next day- no response. So I called the following day, and was told that they don't offer additional compensation in lieu of medical/dental, but also that they'd offered the job to someone else who had accepted it. I had planned on accepting the position regardless of their response, and was taken aback by this. Has this ever happened to anyone else? That a potential employer withdrew the offer for employment without notifying you or responding to a negotiation? It just seems extremely unprofessional to me. I'm astounded.

How can I tell if a filling is going to fall out?

What are the symptoms? I had a very very large filling put in almost 3 years ago. At my last dental visit (July '07), the dentist said that it was a "perfect little filling" and that the tooth didn't appear to have any problems. That filling, though, seems to attract junk. It always gets "dirtier" than the other teeth. The edge of the filling is very distinct from the edge of the tooth. I'm worried that means it's about to pop off, although it's been that way for over a year (even when I went to the dentist). There is zero pain (aside from hot/cold sensitivity which I have in all my teeth, so it's a very bad indicator). I'm very worried about it coming out, since dental insurance doesn't kick in until July and my husband just lost a filling himself.
--------------------
your dentist is the expert, and if he said it was okay, it is. its not something to worry about. the chances of a filling popping out is very slim.

Confused about current job/job offer.?

I'm a student in college, which is pretty stressful trying to get the best grades possible, and my current job is really stressful as well. The pay isn't the greatest and it seems like I work all these hours for nothing. The job is so annoying and they want me to take all these classes and further my training when all I want is a job to earn some extra money while in school. I also don't have any health insurance at the time and the job doesn't provide any benefits. I've been offered this other job that is farther away from where I live, but it pays more and is less stressful. Also, if you work 25 hours you receive medical/dental insurance which would be great for me. I just feel so bad because a lot of people have been quitting where I work and the manager is in a rut. Also, the other job is about 15 minutes further and i'm worried about driving there in bad weather during the winter. What do you guys think?

Am I in trouble with five wisdom teeth and waiting for removal?

So, I have five wisdom teeth. My dentist has been telling me to remove them for two years, but haven't had insurance. When I finally got it this year, I tapped out my dental insurance by having a root canal. Now, I am starting college (away from home) in a few days. I can't go in to get them removed until at least January. My lower back molars are coming through, but my tops are not (my extra wisdom tooth is on the top). My lower jaw hurts a little bit every once in a while. Am I in any kind of trouble waiting until next March (my spring break) to remove my wisdom teeth? My only other option is to miss some school in January because I'd have to come home to get them removed.
--------------------
Okay, well I am talking from very recent exeperince here! My wisdom teeth have been coming in since I was 16...I'm 21 now! They never fully came in...actually just one starting to pop through a few months ago, but they have been causing me discomfort for years. About once a month for about a week my jaw would hurt, and I would feel pressure most of the time leading to a headache! Ouch! All of my dentists told me that I needed them out, but that I would be worse off in a way because I have a small mouth and they are too close to my sinus cavity, and my bottom nerves! So, I finally went to an oral surgeon last week because one of my bottom wisdom teeth were coming in, and it made my whole mouth swell...it was terrible pain! The oral surgeon told me that I had no choice but to get them out. He said that if you leave them in too long they can get infected, and actually cause you to die. Of course, this is very rare..but very possible...at least it was in my case. Mine was already infected, and I could feel pain in my ear, and all the way down to my chin. He said that the swelling can block your air way and suffocate you! So, of course I had to deal with insurance next. My husband is military, so mine isn't too bad, but dental is never good. I ended up paying almost 600 dollars..and this was yesterday. I was sooooo nervous before hand. I went in, sat in the the chair, and they literally strapped me down, and put all these weird clamps on me to hook me up to heart monitor..it was pretty intense stuff..lol. They gave me gas to relax me, and gave me the IV which of course hurt a bit, but only lasted a few seconds. They took the gas off of me for a minute until the surgeon came in. Once he came in he added the meds into my IV, popped the gas mask on my face, and the next thing I knew I was in recovery, and walking out to my car with my husband. I was numb and didn't feel too much pain, and the worst part of yesterday was probably the nausea from the medication, but that wasn't too bad either....I thought it would be a lot more painful than it really was so I was calling my parents, and walking myself to the bathroom...I think that's what made me sick! I'm sore today, but nothing outstanding! You can do it! I can already tell that once I heal up I will feel much much better than before! So, it's really your call..if they are hurting you really bad now I would get them out ASAP..if not, I would wait a few months and save up the money you need for your co-pay or whatever, and schedule your appointment. You shouldn't have to take too much time off of school, and if you schedule your appointment towards the end of the week like on a Thursday you will have all weekend to heal...you will still be slightly sore, and swollen on Monday but I'm sure you will be fine! Sorry this is so long, but I hope I helped!

I want invisaline... now do I go to a dentist, or orthodontist? Also...?

I havent been to the dentist in a while. I am 23 and have one super crooked tooth right next to my 2front teeth, and it is driving me more nuts and making me more insecure as I am getting older. What are my options? I don't want metal braces at my age, so is invisaline the only other option? Do I need to go to a dentist or an orthodontist? Also how does payment work if you don't have dental insurance, is this something that normally needs to be paid in full up front? or do you make payments? I am totally oblivious to all of this dental stuff! Thanks so much for any help you can give me!
--------------------
Ok. I had the same EXACT experience as you. I had metal braces for 2 years. I hated them so I took them off and went to an orthodontist to get invisalign. I had a super crooked tooth next to my 2 front teeth and the orthodontist said invisalign wouldn't be able to turn that tooth. So i'm stuck with metal braces. anyway. Q1. options- braces or invisalign Q2. yes invisalign is the only other option Q3. Orthodontist Q4. no idea- i'm only 12 years old!!! hope i helped! from, apples

While having a tooth extraction they fractured the tooth above it. Should I have to pay to fix that tooth?

The tooth they fractured already needed a deep filling. Now I fear with a fracture I may need a root canal. They are avoiding me too.. keep sending me off with pills instead of doing something. I am in so much pain despite the meds I am on. Tomorrow I am going in for new Xrays - I had just had exrays last week so they will be able to compare the difference. I have no dental Insurance and am going to a chain called Aspen Dental. I feel like I should not have to pay but do they have a valid reason to charge me for what happened?
--------------------
Indeed it does sound like you may need a root canal. But seeing that the tooth was already badly decayed and weakened, they may not be liable for it damage. If the tooth would have been 100% in good shape, that would have been another story. Good luck.

Has anyone dealt with decalcification with their preschooler?

I was having a cavity filled and my 3 year old was with me so I took advantage and asked my dentist to please take a look at his front tooth which I had noticed a couple of weeks ago had a brown kind of chipped looking area on it. I was scared it was the start of a cavity but the dentist said it looked like decalcification and it is pretty normal, a developmental defect he said. He didn't seem too worried and didn't say I should take him to a pediatric dentist. I don't have dental insurance for him until next January. I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with this before and how bad would it be to wait to take him to the dentist until he has insurance. If it can cause more damage then I would take him now and just pay. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you.
--------------------
None of my children have ever had this but my cousins daughter did and they just let it go and she eventually lost it. I dont know for sure if there will be any effects from it in the future but im pretty damn sure that if there was something to be worried about they would have done something about it. Ask your ped. I wouldnt worry

I don't make much money and I need my teeth fixed!! What do I do?

I just got my braces off after 2 years. My grandfather paid for my braces as a gift while I was in college and he just passed away. I got braces to move my teeth and make space in my mouth for all the work I need to get done. I grind my teeth, I always have. I don't have those points anymore on my front corner teeth like people with beautiful teeth have. They're flat. My teeth have always been weak and they chip easily. I get cavities even though I brush and floss RELIGIOUSLY. So now, after getting my braces off, I feel like I have a mouth full of chipped teeth, cavities and flat teeth from grinding. I cry about it. I don't make much money as I just graduated and started my career. I don't have dental insurance and it will cost $500 just to fill in the crack in my front tooth. I wish I could just have a beautiful smile. . I want to fix the cracks and the cavities before they get bigger and cost more. WHERE CAN I FIND AFFORDABLE ENTAL INSURANCE TO FIX MY TEETH? I make $500>/mo.
--------------------
i have dental insurance and still have a hard time affording work when i need it because i have really weak teeth that constantly need work even though i, like you, take VERY good care of them. try www.carecredit.com, its financing for medical needs. even with not great credit i was approved. good luck! *i would not reccomend going to a school of dentistry! my teeth were ruined as a child by having treatment there, and i was traumatized for life! the dentist is still my biggest fear! *lots of established dentists accept the credit plans like carecredit, ask your dentist if they have any specific ones they use. typically veneers are not covered by insurance because it is considered cosmetic.

What is the difference between legal citizenry and illegal citizenry?

And Why Can't Government of Humans fix this inequity? Why Can't Human government fix all the inequities in life? Can anyone recommend me a great orthodontist with good prices in Arlington, TX or the DFW area?

I didn't get the chance to get braces when I was a child, and now, I'd really like to get braces. However, I just moved to Texas about a year ago so I don't know much about any dentists in my area. I live in Arlington, and I am going to be soon acquiring dental insurance. I need to find, primarily, a great orthodontist with decent prices, as I am a full-time college student and would be paying whatever insurance doesn't out of my earnings from my job, which aren't too much. I've heard of fast braces, but I've also heard some not so great things about them and therefore need a recommendation for a solid doctor with a good reputation.
--------------------
I was quoted $4500 for mine, But only paid $2200 because of this great plan I have. Then worked out a dental plan with the orthodontist to make it affordable for me while I was in college. All Though Prices may vary since everyone is different. I would encourage you to visit this great site: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago and they have saved me thousands of dollars on all services since.. From extractions , xrays, exams, fillings, cleanings, and even my braces. They even had my affordable benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use them the very same day. Good luck and hope this helps.

Local anesthesia during pregnancy -is that safe?

I am 28 weeks pregnant and had recently visited my dentist for the extraction of my wisdom tooth which was causing trouble. Meanwhile he said that I need deep dental cleaning and this will be done using anesthesia again. I am not sure if its safe to take anesthesia a couple of times while I'm pregnant. pls advice. Also that I dont have dental insurance, Doc said it will cost me $400, which I can split my treatment n payment into 4/2/1 visits depending on my convenience. Is it costly?
--------------------
When you say "anesthesia," do you mean general (being unconscious) or local (shots, Novocaine etc.?) We preformed root canals using local anesthetic on pregnant patients almost daily, no risk factors. I would be somewhat apprehensive about being put out completely while pregnant though.

Compensation in lieu of Medical Benefits????

I am considering taking a promising position...However, the new company- a small, local business, is not able to provide medical/dental insurance. They are willing to compensate me if I opt to purchase an individual plan. What is the best option- wait it out for a position that offers coverage or ask to be compensated for an individual plan? Who to go through for insurance? How do I make sure I get the best coverage for my money? How much should I negoiate compensation with my employer?
--------------------
Hello. I am working in a small company (13 employees) as the office manager, who handles everything. I know every state - insurance company has different rules. But Small Group Insurance benefits/Individual benefits are very limited. Even your employer reimburse you for the premiums, the benefits are considerably inadequate compared to "Big Company's" benefits. Especially, if you have "pre-conditioned" medical problem... you will most likely have to wait for 12 months after the enrollment to get any coverage for your athma medications/treatments. Is this "prospective employer" will offer the medical insurance in near future? Are they growing? I would not say you need to give up your great opportunity. But if you are going to take the position, I hope the salary is good enough to cover the medical expenses that may occur. (I really hope you stay healthy that makes no difference having a good insurance or inadequate one.) If you are single and late 20's or early 30's. The company will only reimburse you for the premium only, which will probably from $170~$250 per month at most including dental & vision. If I were you.... , I would wait out unless the company is really growing and growing. It is sad to say but there are so much "small company" can offer. I myself would like to get the best medical benefits for my employees/co-workers but we just don't have options to upgrade because we are "Small Company". So Good Luck!!

Me and my fiance have been together 6 years and want to get married this summer. Our parents have agreed to pay for the wedding, but we are looking into how getting married will change our financial status. How will we get medical, eye, and dental insurance? Will we still be able to get school loans? Can our parents still cosign a loan if we aren't dependent on them? We each take out 20,000 a year in loans for school and we have 4 more years to go before he is a pharmacist and I am a mental health therapist. We dont want to get married and then find out we cant get loans or insurance and not be able to finish college. Any advice???

you shouldn't have any problems with the loans, but you will have to pay full premiums for health insurance - expect that to cost at least $500-600 a month or more for a married couple that's up to your parents if they want to cosign a loan for you

Mexico Dentist for my Wisdom Tooth Extraction??? ?

I have no dental insurance and my dentist referred me to a oral surgeon who I cant afford to surgically remove my impacted wisdom tooth. The other one he pulled came out really easy. I hear good things about the dental work just over the boarder. I live within a few hundred miles of the boarder in Texas. Others are telling me I'm crazy but I'm also broke and need to get this done before the skin grows over it. Anyone out there have a good or bad experience to tell me about???

Think about going to one of the local universities that have a dental school, 3rd year students supervised by teaching professors, sometime just like barber school etc, you get a cheap haircut etc...Crossing the border has it's up and downs, you have to shop around, my wife had a tooth implant done by a Hispanic lady, graduate of Penn State Dental School, cost her 700US our dentist in Sacramento wanted 2400US. My wife had the surgery, she was given antibiotics and has never had a problem.. You have to visit, see where they went to school. I had dental work done in Turkey, and no problems, so it's sometimes where the dentist when to school, most come to the states for their training..
