I have a very bad toothache what should I do I don't have any dental insurance and can not afford one?

what should I do? Do you guys know any home remedies? I've been feeling the pain for 2 days! please help!!!
--------------------
HOME REMEDIES Garlic- a clove of garlic with rock salt should be place on the affected tooth. It will relieve the pain and help fights off infection. Onion- you can chew the onions or place it on the affected tooth. It has antibacterial properties so it can lessen the rate of infection. Wheat grass- gargle the juice of wheatgrass. It will help diminish the growth of bacteria in your mouth. And can relieve tootache. Pepper- a pinch of this with table salt can be placed on the cavity and may alleviate the pain. Ice- apply cold compress to the area, it will constrict the blood vessels and relieve the pain. Vanilla- a few drops of vanilla extract on the affected tooth will immediately provide relief. Sugar Intake- should be lowered to decrease the growth of bacteria in the mouth. MEDICATIONS Take pain relievers and antibiotics for the pain. Antibiotics should be taken 3-4 times daily for 5-7days depending on the kind of antibiotics. *Too bad I'm on vacation, I can offer you free consultation and prescription.

Do you use a DMO dental insurance plan?

It seems like it is slightly cheaper than dental PPO plans. But are the doctors under a DMO worse?
--------------------
A DMO is usually slightly cheaper because when you have a dental plan that has networks the insurance company negotiates a fee schedule with the dentists. With a DMO the amount the dentist receives is usually less than with a PPO, which is less than with an indemnity plan (where you can use any dentist). The dentist are not necessarily "worse" with a DMO but if they're willing to accept less money it's usually because they have less experience. I'm an insurance agent and I sell dental insurance but my personal plan is the fee for service discount plan. In most cases it is more cost effective than insurance because there is no deductible, no waiting period and no maximum yearly benefits. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

I'm 18, and i was wondering if i could still get braces if my dad has dental insurance with his job?

just wondering since i've turned 18 now if its too late?
--------------------
depends on the insurance company. If you are still in high school, then yes, you would be covered. If you are a full time college student, then yes, you should be covered. your dad will have to check his insurance.

Where is a good place for a independent contractor to get dental insurance?(NOT A DENTAL PLAN INSURANCE)?

In Arizona. We don't mind paying quite abit extra for full on coverage. The present job pays well it just does not have insurance.
--------------------
As an independent agent in Arizona I have several good plans. If you also need health insurance there are several companies that have dental as an option and this will be your less expensive option. Other than that the most cost effective stand alone dental insurance plans are https://www.hpainsurance.com/(S(jui4qi45… and https://www.hpainsurance.com/(S(q31eku45… All dental insurance has either a waiting period or a reduced benefit period before you can fully use the plan. Basic office visits and diagnosis are usually covered immediately but major procedures may have to wait for full coverage. I personally do not have dental insurance but instead have a fee for service discount plan because I find that a better option for me. Take a look here for information on those plans: http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo…

i am looking for pet insurance. What is most comprehensive plan to cover visits, dental and accidents?

I really want my dog to be well taken care of but the medical services are SO SO expensive, does anyone know of an insurance plan that will cover her visits, dental cleanings, and accidents, or problems such and distemper if it is developed?
--------------------
Take the money it would cost you each month for the insurance and put it in a seperate savings account or a piggy bank. This will likely cover your dogs medical expenses. You should save anywhere from $10 - $30 a month. Some insurance plans can run as high as $50 a month. It will also depend upon the breed of dog.

does anyone know if this is right about elimination periods with dental insurance?

because I thought an elimination period was when you could get dental work done before the elimination period was over and they would cover the procedure you had done once you elapsed the elimination period even though the procedure was done before the elimination period expired... as long as you maintained the same insurance
--------------------
In over 17years of selling Health Insurance, I have sold less than 1% of Dental Insurance- why? because most plans have fee schedule or wait periods that I think are ridiculous. Most agents don't realize this, so how can the public. Here is my advice, prior to going in for any procedure- 'GET PRE-AUTHORIZATION".. in writing is best!!!

I have 4 cavities and no dental insurance?

My mom already pays about $200 a month on Aetna and has to pay $25 each a month for 2 of her prescriptions. On the Aetna plan she has dental is not included and I looked in the mirror the other day and saw I had 4 cavities. what am I to do?
--------------------
I would encourage you to visit this great website: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago and they have saved me thousands of dollars on all of my dental services. From extractions to xrays, fillings, Cleanings, root canals, and even my braces had coverage. They even had my affordable benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use them the very same day. Good luck and Hope this helps

Need dental work done, but have no insurance or job, what are my options?

I need dental work done, more than a cleaning, but I have had no insurance for 3 years and am currently unemployed with no money to cover it. I believe I have a start of an infection in a tooth and I know that can lead to bigger problems.

There are various assistance programs that vary from state to state, so you may want to contact your state dental society to see if there are programs in your area. Another possible source of lower-cost dental care is a dental school clinic. Generally, dental costs in school clinics are reduced and may include only partial payment for professional services covering the cost of materials and equipment. Your state dental society can tell you if there is a dental school clinic in your area. Federally-funded health centers care for you, even if you have no health insurance. You pay what you can afford, based on your income. Health centers provide 1. checkups when you're well 2. treatment when you're sick 3. complete care when you're pregnant 4. immunizations and checkups for your children 5. dental care and prescription drugs for your family 6. mental health and substance abuse care if you need it http://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov/ From other contributors: Talk to your state assistance program. They have free to cheap dental coverage. Also look in the yellow pages, some dentists will work with you on a payment plan. Good luck! Go to the nearest dental college in your area. They always need people to work on and are usually very closely supervised. They may not do the work for free but it will be more affordable than at a regular dentist who has an office and employees to pay for. You could try a discounted dental plan. Just go to dental plans and enter your zip code to find a dentist and plans in your area that will best suit your needs. I had it for about 2 years and it helped me to save a lot of money! Save your money and pay cash. Take responsibility for your health and take action. Stop relying on someone else to solve your problems. I agree that if there is a training facility nearby for dentists, by all means, go there. The level of care will be very high and the cost will be much less than a private dentist. The negative thing about those places is the time it takes to get the care completed. You should plan on being there for several hours per visit, compared to a private doctor that will do the same thing in much less than an hour. Try your local Health Dept. In Virginia some localities have Dentist for adults based on income, whereas, some are just for school age children. These Dentist are usually just out of college/training but are very good & careful. I myself searched high & low to find a dentist as I am indigent due to cancer & no insurance. I am trying to get disability but have been denied since 2000 & have not been able to work. So... taking responsibility & saving to pay for a dentist is not always an option for ALL people. IF SOMEONE IS on State or Federal assistance (such as welfare or Medicare or Medicaid), certain dentists accept these patients for low cost or free dental care. The only other thing I can think of is to check out TEACHING HOSPITALS. They may have a School of Dentistry where graduate students work on teeth, under the supervision of an experienced dentist. Many times the cost is greatly reduced, and sometimes, depending on the situation, there may be no cost. GOOD LUCK! <<>> And if there is no "free" clinic in your area, ask the health Dept. if there are any dentists who can/will work on a "sliding scale" meaning they will reduce their charges based on your income.

Should I buy dental insurance?

My employer is offering dental insurance for $30 a month. It seems like a waste of money since I only go to the dentist once a year and the cleaning is only a hundred dollars or so. My mom thinks that I should get it. What do you think?
--------------------
Find out what it covers and then have your dentist office give you the non insurance costs of what is covered. (that you would actually use) just crunching the numbers should give you the best answer Plus reg health insurance usually covers emergency mouth stuff and reg dental insurance doesn't cover ...let's call it the "aftermath" of a dental emergency I have dental insurance that is for x-rays and cleanings and if my employer ever dropped that coverage I wouldn't be missing much.

Dental Insurance for Canadians in Manitoba?

I'm looking for a good & cheap dental insurance. I'm 18 but I make only 2k a month so I don't want to end up spending up my whole salary year round on my teeth.. I'm not really sure what to do because I usually need 1-3 fillings a visit to the dentist which is 3 times a year. Any suggestions? I stopped eating sugar last month but I'm still worried :\
--------------------
Sugar doesn't cause cavities... bacteria causes cavities. The bacteria is the plaque on your teeth and it uses sugars and carbohydrate as a food source. Make sure you are effectively removing the plaque, and using fluoride toothpaste 2 times a day. Chew gum with Xylitol in in throughout the day. If you would like more information, Google "caries disease". Cavities are holes caused by caries disease, which is an infectious bacteria disease (that means you can pass the bacteria that causes cavities to loved ones). Check out the Canadian dental asssociation for lots of information on oral health.

is there a good insurance company for alternative medicine and dental?

i'm looking for a new insurance policy. is there one that is cheap and will accept alternative medicines? also i need a dental policy with it for a broken tooth i've got...and to get some amalgams removed.
--------------------
Unfortunately, most insurance policies don't cover alternative medicine because they don't cover preventative options. It would be cheaper for them to prevent problems than to treat problems, but it's almost impossible to prove that a preventative would prevent any specific condition more than any other option. Let's say for the sake of argument that Vitamin C was proven to cure Disease X. An insurance company may not pay for a Vitamin C pill because of the justification that you could get that from an Orange anyway (and no insurance I've ever heard of will pay for food that's given outside of a hospital). With that being said, there are some insurance options that cover preventative practices if they are used for recovery such as Chiropractic and Physical Therapy, but they typically wouldn't cover either if you go every week or two "just for the heck of it" for maintenance. Granted, dental is a very different story and there are many options that'll cover what you're looking for. You can ask your local insurance companies what their options are or you could even ask this question in the Insurance section in Y!A for more details on why they won't cover preventative. Good luck and I hope I helped!

--------------------
Depends on how soon you want implants. If you can wait 1, 2 or even three years, some insurances might cover implants after a long waiting period. Your best bet if you want savings sooner would be a membership with eHealthPlus, they will discount all your dental work, including implants. There are no waiting periods.

Can anyone answer this question for me who DOES NOT work for a dental heath insurance company? Please!?

My job has offered me a dental insurance plan which only covers 50% of all major dental procedures. My fee is $14.33 biweekly. I have a $100 deductible. It covers 80% on small stuff like fillings and basic root x-rays....routine stuff like cleanings is free. I've never had to deal with this stuff alone. What kind of deal, or plan does this sound like to you? Thanks so much for your help! OH! I almost forgot. This is ridiculous, but, I've also been offered medical insurance which has a $2,800.00 deductible. The fee for it is $33.00 biweekly and they agree to pay NOTHING until the annual decuctible of $2,800 is met. Now, I'm far from being a genius here, really, but are they freaking kidding me??? I've never heard of such a high deductible in my life. Am I wrong about that? Please help. I really need Medical insurance and make very little money. Anyone who isn't trying to sell me on the company they work for is greatly welcomed to advise me on this. I SO appreciate it!
--------------------
The dental is normal in both the cost and the coverage. The deductible is a little high, most plans have a $50 deductible. The medical insurance sounds like good plan, especially if you seldom go to the doctor. I'm not sure how old you are but the premium is reasonable. It is considered a catastrophic plan so if you go into the hospital and have a $100,000 charge you'd be glad you have the policy. It's not as bad as you think. Even though you may have to pay more if you go to the doctor you are not paying full price. You are paying the negotiated rates that the insurance company has with the doctor. In my area that rate is $70 to $90 per office visit. If you don't have the insurance you are paying around $150. Your other option would be to visit a local independent agent to find out what plans are available in your area. I'd guess that a "traditional" $1000 deductible plan with $25 office visit co-pays will run you around $150 - $200 or more per month. You'll need to do the math to see what plan is right for you.

Dental insurance in minnesota?

I'm moving to Minnesota in a month, but I need to get a filling done now! I don't know if I buying dental insurance in California would be valid in Minnesota, so I'm hoping my tooth would hold out and buy the insurance in Minnesota. Can you recommend a good one? Or one that would work in California and in Minnesota? Thanks!

I don't have dental insurance. Are there any resources that I can look into for low cost dental care?

I am looking for an actual "low cost" dental or medical healthcare insurance plan and NOT a "discounted" dental care service such as the AmeriPlan services. I am in need of oral surgery and possibly a couple dental implants or bridge work, which of course is very expensive. Can anyone help me by providing a list of beneficial information? I promise you that your feedback is highly appreciated.....thanks!
--------------------
As a dentist I recommend calling your counties local Department of Family and Childrens Services. A lot of these services actually have a dentist on staff that is available to help with any dental procedures you may need. If your county DFCS office does not provide any type of dental services they should be able to put you into contact with someone who will be able to assist you (ex: another state agency). Also try your local dental school if there is one around you, these procedures are usually provided and are very low in cost compared to a dental office itself. Good luck and I hope you find the help you need.

Where is a good place to go if I dont have dental insurance.?

I dont have dental insurance, but I want to get my teeth checked. Where would I go? what can i do???
--------------------
Just look in the Yellow Pages and find a dentist that will accept payment arrangements. Many will set up reasonable payments and others also have a financing company that patients can use with no interest. I never purchase dental insurance because it's cheaper to pay out of pocket since most dental insurance doesnt cover major procedures until after 12 months and a cleaning is usually $100 or less. Try to find a dentist with a free consultation and then you will know if anything needs to be done to your teeth and if so go along with the payment plan. Usually about $50-100 down and $50-$100 per month for major procedures. Good luck and hope I could help.

i need dental insurance that covers orthodontia and oral surgery...?

i need an individual insurance plan that covers orthodontia, oral surgery and dental visits. i do not need health insurance, just dental. i need to get my wisedom teeth extracted, i want to get invisalign and i also need to have a dental visit and teeth cleaning... any suggestions?
--------------------
Dream on. When I was shopping for individual dentall, I couldn't find one that would pay out more than it took in. I didn't find any that covered orthodontia. Even great, group dental plans have a maximum - mine is $2,000 per year, and it only covers 50% of things like orthodontia. My suggestion is to find a job with dental coverage. And you're STILL going to be out of pocket for MOST of those costs. And before you think about buying that Ameriplan dental list, be sure to call around to your dentist and oral surgeon, and verify that they will give you the Ameriplan discount. I've never found any that do.

I don't have much money, in the process of getting dental insurance, where can i get emergency dental help?

Im in so much pain. I signed up for dental insurance, but it won't go into affect until 2 months from now. Where can i go for help in norfolk, va??
--------------------
Actually there are not dental insurances that I know of that will pay for something that is considered a pre-existing condition. So if you go to the emergency room and try to bill your insurance before it goes into effect than they won't pay for it. Any treatment you seek is going to have to come out of your pocket. Check into any dental schools in your area, they may be able to get you in at a reduced rate than a normal private practice. Also check for clinics in your area that accept payment on a sliding scale. Meaning depending on what your income is will depend on how much you pay. At the very least you may be able to see your regular MD who may be able to prescribe you something for your pain, and an antibiotic if you have any infection going on. Good luck.

--------------------
See if there are any dental schools in your area that will see you. They often see patients at a lower cost. Also you could see if any dentist is willing to work with you on payments and or cost. Good luck!
