Can someone who knows about dental insurance for someone who is self employed please answer some questions?

My husband is self employed. We have no insurance. I need a root canal. Is it possible to get insurance real fast and have the insurance pay for it? Is there a certain type of insurance for self employed people? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
--------------------
Root canals are not considered a preexisting condition on most plans. So if you could enroll now, on most plans it would be covered. I wouldn't think that you would be able to find an insurance company & enroll quick enough though. First I'd start by seeing somebody for an antibiotic. A lot of insurance companies offer plans for self employed people through a small business unit. You usually have to have at least 2 employees though. Some even have individual plans. You could also check with your state insurance commission or insurance brokers. To try & find an insurance company that works for you I would google "dental insurance companies" & call every company that is listed on at least the first page of the search. Ask for individual polices & if they don't have them, then ask if they have a small business unit. Good luck!

If your self employed dental insurance is not worth it. It is good to get if you work for some one who is paying for but not if you have to pay for it yourself. First dont confuse a plan with insurance different things. aplan sounds really good when compared to ins so many people purchase them, but the trouble come when yuou decide to use it. Many times people are unaware that the reason plans dont offer any restrictions limitation , no deductalbes, is because they are not a third party payer, and the patient pays for it all, so they dont carte if you get one exam or a hundered your the one paying, basically a plan is like paying for a coupon book every month. Insurance is not all that great if you have to pay for it. the reason is the amount they offer per year you can easily save with out having to pay the insurance who will place restrictions like wait periods, deductable, percatange resposible for you, pre existing conditions, etc etc etc.... Medical is a different stor, that you need to have, but dental insurance for most is capped at $1000 to $2000 per year so why pay some one for insurance if you can save that yorself and not have to deal with all the restrictions and limitations, not to mention when you figure out you payments and what they pay, you co pay and deductables you will probably have paide a lot more than the original price with out it. here is an example If you go to a dentist and need a denture they will charge you $1000. with an insurance if you qualify then you have to wait a year. Lets say you have delta dental then you pay $100 a month. so after a year you would have paid $1200 you already at a lose here. but there is more the insurace only cover 50%. so you have to pay 50%so they pay 600 and you pay the other 600. now your down 1800, but wait dont forget the deductable, another 50 so the grand total 1850 for one denture. My suggestion is to save your money.

Opinions on Delta Dental dental insurance?

Anybody have any experiences with Delta Dental dental insurance. Is it worth it? I'd also be interested in opinions about whether dental insurance in general is worth having, it seems a lot of people don't have it even though they have health insurance

I heard they used to be good, depending on the plan you choose. these are quick and about $80 per year: http://www.simplyinsurancequotes.com/den…

Does anyone have a really good dental insurance plan that they like, but that isnt a discount card?

im a 21yr old female in wisconsin, i also need it to be affordable does anyone have any recomendations? as far as medical insurance goes im totally covered, so im just looking for dental
--------------------
I have an individual Blue Cross Dental plan, not a discount card but an actual plan it's called Dental Blue 200. Blue cross has several plans to choose from, but I pay about $40 a month for it and its a really good plan. You can get cheaper ones but they cover less, you definitely get what you pay for. If you have a dentist you like, find out if they are part of the Dental Blue group. There is a 100, 200, and 300 group depending on what kind of coverage you want.

Is it legal for employer to offer better dental insurance to select few?

I overheard today that there is a few people here at my job who are on a better dental plan. I guess it's not being offered to everyone because of the cost, and because the other's have children. Can they do this?
--------------------
They sure can. Everything is negotiable. They'll try to keep everyone on the same plans, but if they want to land a really good prospect who is holding out, they'll negotiate better pay/benefits.

What is a good & inexpensive life insurance, medical insurance & dental insurance?

I work for a company that doesnt supply any of this. So I need to come up with this on my own, hence the inexpensive part. I am a husband & father of 3 so I would like to make sure they are well taken care of just incase. I would also like a good insurance for us.
--------------------
This depends on the state you are in. One of the better on-line vendors for medical ins. is ehealthinsurance.com. I would do research using them, and then contact a local agent who can help you. Generally pick a high deductible medical plan, such as a Health Saving Account qualified medical plan. This will also save you big time on your taxes. Unless someone in the family is REALLY, REALLY sick, you are always better with a high deductible. Shop for your small dollar medical visits, split pills, use drugstore.com and you will save big. On life insurance, choose at least $100k, but I would go higher with three kids. Dental can be a waste of money for individuals, but there are a very, very few good plans out there in SOME states. Ask your health agent. Disability insurance is probably the most important coverage you can have, besides medical. Buy some, unless you are wealthy enough to get by without your income for at least a year.

Dental insurance providers with orthodontist coverage?

I currently have MetLife Dental which does not inlcude orthodontist coverage. I went to an orthodonitst and was advised to get invisalign to keep my teeth from gapping. Two years ago, I had molding applied to my two front teeth to close the gap and it worked and was wonderful. However, my teeth are gapping apart again. The orthodontist stated that Invisalign is the best alternative to permanently close and stop the gapping because my teeth are very straight and do not have an overbite. Is there any insurance provider who offers orthodonist coverage to adults or do you know of any discounts available?
--------------------
Many MetLife Dental plans cover ortho. When your employer buys the package, they can select whether or not to add that benefit. Most often, it is not the insurance provider, but the employer who decides what is or is not covered. Ask your HR person, or whoever administers your health plan.

Don't have dental insurance. My front teeth filling broke in half. How much will it cost to get it fixed?

Okay the filling is pretty much just a 1/4 of my front teeth. It happened by me stupidly biting in a jawbreaker that was kinda chewy at some parts? Like one and a half year ago? I kinda want to get it fixed .. and them taking the other half out and filling it all in? I'm not sure if they will do that. Would you know how much it would cost? And i'm only 15 . Will they let me go alone to the dentist without a parent. My mom doesn't like me wasting like hundreds of dollar on something that she could help me with but we don't have any dental insurance so i really don't know how she's gonna help me. Ahh .. this is so frustrating. And i'm really hoping i can get this all done and over with soon cause i'm going on vacation and i haven't seen some people for a while so i wanna look nice. o.o
--------------------
I work at a dental office in Louisiana. If they will be able to just add a filling back to the teeth, it will probably cost about $200-$300 a tooth. If crowns need to be done it will probably cost about $800 per tooth.

How come dental insurance isn't like health insurance?

If you have a broken arm you get surgery and get it fixed You pay a certain amount and there is no limit How come if you have a broken mouth...You only get a small portion with dental insurance. If dental / oral health can ruin overall health..shouldn't dental health be like going to the doctors and getting what needs to be done ...done...regardless of ability to pay but allow the dentist to make full profit like a doctor in a hospital?
--------------------
People pay a fraction of the cost of health insurance for their dental insurance. You can't expect the same benefits without paying as much. People also need a lot more dental work than they will ever have broken arms.

If my dentist isnt a member of any insurance, where do I get my dental insurance?

I have a dentist I want, called their office and they are not members of anything for insurance, where do I get insurance now?
--------------------
There are dental plans that let you visit any dentist. Most plans will have a waiting period before you are fully insured. Visit a local independent agent to find the plan that's best for your situation and budget in your area. The agent can explain the waiting period. There is no extra charge using an agent.

Dental Insurance with 100% reimbursement across the board?

I'm researching various dental insurance plans for my company, and was curious if there plans out there with full coverage. For the most part, I have only seen 100% / 80% / 50% / 50% splits, but was interested in seeing if full coverage plans are out there, and, what kind of cost this would be. Thanks.

what is the best dental insurance plan for braces?

I need braces and my husband has to get his wisdom teeth pulled, so we want a family dental plan. I'm looking for one with good coverage so i don't have to pay over $100 a month for braces. Any advice?
--------------------
depends where you live! You can use the section125 plan for this...that's where ur employer takes the money out of ur pretax income. Most dental plans will only cover up to 1500.00 on orthodonture...period. The wisdom teeth may be covered under medical if you get an oral surgeon to do it, which is recomended anyway...for many reasons.

Is dental insurance covered under the Canadian Health Plan?

Medical coverage is free in Canada but what about dental work? Is that covered also?
--------------------
No unfortunately not. Medical insurance is provincially mandated not federally mandated. So the rules may be different between provinces. But in my province dental bills are not covered. I am unsure as to whether or not you get a tax break if you submit your dental bills as a medical expense. Companies in Canada offer dental plans to their employees as part of a taxable benefit. I have a dental plan and my husband has dental plan which usually covers 100% of our expenses. In the rare cases that there is no coverage we pay hundred percent of the bill. And to correct the misconception that our American neighbours have concerning free healthcare, it is definitely not free. We pay for it via our taxes. It's just that everybody is entitled to medical coverage. It's not up to the individual insurance companies to decide whether or not they will decide to cover us. Everybody is covered.
