What is a affordable health insurance that covers DENTAL?

or at least some of the cost?
--------------------
Most likely your most affordable, best coverage plan will be one that an employer offers. If this is not an option for you, an alternative to health insurance would be a discount health and/or dental plan. I only have personal experience with Ameriplan, but I have located a website with information about other discount health plans. I will list both below as sources. A discount health plan often has more affordable monthly premiums than health insurance.

Can someone take a look at my dental insurance, I have a question about it?

Please review your plan documents for full details, including exclusions, limitations and state mandates that might affect your benefits. I turned 25 on september 2nd, can I not use this insurance anymore for myself, its dental insurance through my employer so it wasnt explained very well, or can I use it maybe until right before I turn 26, meaning can I use it while I'm 25 or did it end as soon as I turned 25?

Student limitation is most likely towards any dependants that you have on your coverage - not you as the policy holder.

What are dental options for the uninsured?

I make pretty good money, but my company doesn't have dental insurance and I don't really want to drop $1000 for a crown. Are there any options for those who don't have dental insurance but don't qualify for medicaid or other low-income places?
--------------------
I really have a problem with the way our government is handling the medical problems of it's citizens. I don't have dental coverage either, and believe me after having to shell out seven hundred dollars for two teeth to be removed plus anesthesia I was mortified. You at least have a job. I don't because I'm on disability (no prescription cov either). What are people like us supposed to do? I guess we have two choices. Let your teeth decay, and fall out or go to a private dentist, and pay up the nose. In your case because you are employed, and make a good salary you should be able to pay on a payment plan with your dentist because they do have them. Why not try to find out if they have a dental college in your area? If they do I would take a chance depending on the severity of your problem. I think it would be less expensive than a private dentist.

I do not qualify for medicaid or family health plus. I have to pay for 2 root canals ($1400), 2 crowns($2000), 1 tooth extraction ($200) and cost of adult orthodontic treatment ($7000)!!! I am looking for private dental insurance but am having a very hard time finding... anyone can suggest any or other ieas to help me in this situation? I live in New York City... am 25 year old woman, single no kids, receive unemployment benefits after lay-off.

From extractions, crowns, Cleanings, root canals, exams, xrays, cleanings, fillings...etc. Even my braces and cosmetic surgery are included in this very affordable plan. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Is there a dental insurance?

is there something like that? so that we'll just pay less ryt?
--------------------
You have five options with dental. 1. Go without insurance. If you have good teeth and just want the basics you probably don't need any plan. A yearly cleaning and exam and even an occasional filling will cost you less without insurance. 2. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you. You can find one here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Den… 3. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With insurance you pay $460 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. 4. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With discount plans you pay around $827. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… concerning these plans. 5. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

I'm looking for a good individual dental insurance plan...?

A dental insurance plan that will cover 100% of basic trips to the dentist office (check- up, cleaning, filling, etc.) I lost my job 8 months ago and have been without any insurance. I called my dentist office to ask what they thought was a good insurance plan and I learned a lot on what to watch out for on some of the plans out there. I have had the same dentist for 10 yrs. and would like to stay with them, but I guess a lot of the individual plans have only set dentists you can go to. Does anyone know of a great plan that would be good for me to check into?

Trying to get on fiance dental insurance but hit a "snag" can anyone help me with this?

My fiance got the ok from HR to put me on his dental insurance as "domestic partner" since we live together. The problem is he STILL had his exwife listed on there too and we did not know it! They have been divorced for over 5 yrs and "he" said he told them and they must have made a mistake. HR took his exwife off NOW but my question is be it his fault, his works or the insurence company is this going to delay me getting coverage? Also how can your exwife be on your insurence for 5 yrs and no one know? I can't call his work as he told me he'll take care of it

I am looking for individual dental insurance other than Aetna DMO. I live in Northern Virginia. Thanks!?

I am so dissatisfied with the dentists on the Aetna DMO network in Northern Virginia. I have been to so many and each one tells me a different story about my teeth and what needs to be done. I know I have 2 cavities that need to be taken care of asap. I also know that I would need a crown for each of them. The dentists so far have said I need to do '6 root canals', and another dentist says that I have 'half a dozen cavities but no root canals. Today the same dentist tells me I have only 3 cavities and nothing else. Two crowns became 3 crowns within the span of 2 weeks etc... Either these dentists can't read the xrays or they want to rip off the patients. I was told my gums are sensitive and I would need to treat them first before my cavities. I have no bleeding, no pain or any such symptoms that would show sensitive gums. I feel so misled. I want to know how much it would cost for me to buy individual dental insurance. Also if you know a dentist who is genuine, pls let me know tx

Where can I get inexpensive dental insurance?

I have Medicare/Medicaid here in Nevada, cause I've been laid off of work for 2 years now...but because I'm over 21 yrs.old, Medicaid will only cover dental work such as dentures and x-rays...but I have a broken cavity that needs 2 be repaired, cause over the years it's been cracked and has fallen out completely. Now I'm in severe pain, I can't hardly eat or drink anything, and I need HELP ASAP!!! I don't know much about insurances, so if anyone can please give me some advise or a # to call 4 affordable dental insurance, I'd really appreciate it. I basically just need some fillings done.
--------------------
It's a long shot, but try calling your closest university. A small community college near my town offers free cleanings and $20 whitenings. No telling what some of the bigger universities need. I know that a lot of dentists would be willing to work with you concerning your bill. Try calling around, and get different bids. In any case, you're going to have to set some money aside.

Parents don't have dental insurance for me.. what should I do?

I went to the dentist for the first time yesterday [lol] - my aunt took me to her dentist in another province then my own. I have a class ||| under bite, my I tooth is still a baby tooth and the adult tooth is on an angle over top my front teeth in my bone, and my back back molars are missing, they can see two molars in my gums but they say they have no root :/ so they may be undeveloped wisdom teeth and lastly I need braces. Unfortunately my parents don't have dental insurance for me, and I need to get surgery's and braces, and I'm only 14. - Turn 15 in December. Is there anyway I can get my own dental insurance or benefits so I can fix my teeth and jaw? PLEASE HELP.
--------------------
Even with dental Insurance or a Dental Discount plan you will still have cost for the procedures you are describing. Dental Insurance or Plans are designed to help cut your cost. Your parents may be able to buy dental insurance or plan just for you. If that is not a choice for you then you may want to look into seeing if you have any dental schools that you can go to to have the work done. Since they are schools they will either be free or low cost. I hope you find what you are looking for and good lucky http://www.insurancecompany.com

In need of a good dental insurance plan in South Florida.

I desperately need braces but I can't afford them, neither can my parents. I have two teeth that I call my shark teeth because they grew in back of my normal line of teeth. One on the top, and one on the bottom. So it bothers the hell out of my tongue and I can't stand it anymore. I'm always getting those annoying sore taste buds, like one would get if they bite their tongue, on my tongue because one of my "shark teeth" is my fang so it hurts like hell. I need to fix my teeth but I'll need a good dental insurance plan that covers a big percentage of the cost of my braces. And it cant be just a dental discount plan, those on average only discount 25% and I need more than that. I'm 17, I live with my parents and they'll be paying for it, but it will only be a single plan, not a family plan. I live in South Florida. So if anyone can give me the name of a great insurance plan, then you'll be a miracle worker. Thank you.
--------------------
Sorry, but I'm not a miracle worker. I just have the facts. Very few individual dental insurance plans will cover braces because they are considered cosmetic. However, some will if the dentist says that braces are a medical necessity and there are no other options. The other options would be pulling the teeth and placing a bridge, which means if that is possible the braces won't be covered even if you don't want your teeth pulled. How long can you wait for the braces? All dental insurance plans have a waiting period before you can get full benefits. The plans that may cover your braces in the right circumstances will have a waiting period of 12 to 24 months. They also will only cover a percentage - usually 50% up to the yearly maximum. Most better plans have a yearly maximum of $1500. A visit to a local agent that works with all the major plans in your area will be beneficial because the agent can find out if any plans will cover braces. There is no extra charge using an agent. So in the best case scenario you can find a plan that will cover your braces. You'll pay the $40 - $60 premium for at least 12 months before you can get the braces. Say the braces cost $5000. The plan picks up 50% up to $1500 so they pay $1500 and you pay $3500 plus the premium, or around $3800. With a discount plan the premium will be around $100 per year. You will get a discount of 25% off of the braces so you pay $3750 plus the $100 premium, or around $3850. Comes out to about the same out of pocket cost but you don't have to wait. I'm an insurance agent and sell both insurance and discount plans. My personal plan is the fee for service discount plan which you can get here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

How much should I expect to pay for dental insurance??

I'm on Social Security and the dental insurance in Florida for people on SSI seriously SUCKS.....it's pretty much if anything is wrong with any tooth, they pull it. I've been looking at dental insurance online, but I'm kind of leery because I don't want to get rooked into something that doesn't really help out. One of those dumb supplemental plans they make for suckers..... So, how much a month should I expect to pay for dental insurance?? ALSO, if anyone else is in my situation, do you have a good plan?? Wisdom Teeth Extraction: Ameriplan OR Dental Insurance?

All 4 of my wisdom teeth are impacted - 1 is 2/3rds the way out, 1 is moving slightly and I've yet (knock on wood!) to have any issues with the other 2. I was a member of Ameriplan a few years back but never had to use it because I was covered under BlueCross in which I am no longer covered under either. Would it be best to re-register with the Ameriplan (25% discount) or an individual dental insurance (which would POSSIBLY be more beneficial depending on the coverage amount/deductible, etc.) for about the same $ monthly? If you feel as though the individual dental insurance would be best, does anyone have any recommendations for coverage companies, etc.? Thanks! ps- PLEASE don't SPAM this with the Ameriplan links & false reviews!
--------------------
Thats a tough decision to make. Ameriplan will cover anywhere from %25-%50 and you pay less per month on the benefits, on the other hand insurance may cost a little more each month and also have a waiting period before it can be used. I believe the insurance should cover %50 of the cost or typically up to $2500 for orthodontic treatment. I believe the best bet would be for you to call the providers in the area and find out how much it would cost for braces weather it would be ameriplan or insurance. Im like you, I have both. Here is my reps website.. www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com there should be a link for provider search and begin your search by calling the orthodontist. Then compare with possible insurance. www.dentalplans.com will have some insurance companies you could compare to. Call providers and get an estimate.

I have no money and no insurance ***DENTAL***?

I had two teeth that were both in need of a root canal. I could only afford to have one tooth taken care of, they put me on Care Credit and I am paying that off gradually each month. Now the other tooth is acting up and this morning I woke up with some swelling around the face. This tooth also has an abscess, I have no money and I also have no insurance and I don't know what to do now. There are no dental schools in the area, 1800Dentist acctually told me that they have no idea what I should do, and when I try to sign up for dental insurance I get the run around pretty hardcore. I was in the military, but the VA says that they will not work on your teeth unless that was the reason you were released from duty. Which it wasn't, i served my full time. Shouldn't it be easier for a veteran to get dental coverage! Anyway, no one will help me and I am this close to just preforming some sort of dentistry on myself. What should I do?

How much does dental insurance cover for wisdom tooth removal?

How much of the total fees will my dental insurance cover for getting a couple wisdom teeth taken out? I know it can vary, but I would like a ballpark estimate. I know it's 150 per tooth for a normal extraction before insurance, which isn't horrible... but it's twice as much if it requires a surgical removal. Which leads me to another question. When do they do surgical removals? Do the teeth have to be impacted? Mine are not impacted, but they are party covered by gums in the back (which is causing the pain that makes me want them removed). It still looks like they could get a grip on them though.
--------------------
Your medical insurance may also cover the costs of getting them out. It would say, "surgical removal of impacted wisdom teeth". It sounds like you fall in this category. Good luck.

Will my dental insurance cover the cost of fillings for my cavities?

I have a couple cavities and will be going to the dentist this Monday. I have Tricare as my dental insurance. They cover: diagnostic and preventative services, basic restorative services(fillings) and other surgeries. This is what it says on their site and I just want someone to make this clear for me. Do I have to pay 20% of the cost or is is that only for requests? Resin/Composite Fillings Cost-Share Under the TDP program, basic restorative procedures (fillings) have a cost-share of 20 percent for the member with United Concordia paying the remaining 80 percent when the care is received from a TDP network provider. The most common materials used for fillings are amalgam (silver) and composite resin (tooth-colored). What is Covered? Under the TDP, the covered benefit for posterior (back) fillings is amalgam (silver). If the dentist and member select resin for back teeth fillings, the member must pay the difference between what the silver fillings would have cost and how much the resin costs. Resin fillings are covered for anterior (front) teeth only. For example, a family member needs a filling on a back tooth. The dentist places a silver filling at the allowable reimbursement rate of $100. Under the TDP, United Concordia pays 80 percent or $80 cost-share and the member pays a 20 percent cost or $20 cost-share. If the dentist places a resin filling on a posterior tooth at the member's request and bills $140, United Concordia still pays only $80 (the 80 percent cost-share for a silver filling). The member now pays $60 (the $20 cost for the silver filling and the additional $40 in billed charges).
--------------------
Yes you pay 20% unless you get a white filling on a back tooth, if you decide to get a white filling on a back tooth you will have to pay 20% plus the difference in cost between the silver filling and the white filling.

Is a root canal considered "dental surgery" according to dental insurance companies?

I'll try to make this short. I was covered by my mom's insurance when I was in school and had to get a dental onlay because I had a major cavity that came on in a very short time between cleanings. I went through a period of being uninsured then I started coverage on myself through my work as of January 1st, and in the time that I was uninsured like late in the last year, my onlay became loose. It doesn't bother me at all but I'm going to go back to the same dentist that did that procedure because luckily I can do that with my new insurance. However, I'm afraid that if the cavity progressed to far I may need a root canal. My insurance says it covers 80% on the following: fillings, minor restoration, endodontics and dental surgery. It covers 50% on crowns, dentures and partials. In general is the root canal treatment included in dental surgery? (I know the crown is separate/not included) Thanks... I'm asking because I'm having issues with the website and the 1-800 automated line only gives me basic info on my coverage, like what I told you above.
--------------------
My insurance says it covers 80% on the following: fillings, minor restoration, endodontics and dental surgery. Ok to answer your question quickly, you already answered your own question since a root canal is known as endodontic therapy it is not surgery but is part of endodontics which your insurance company stated it covers 80% of. So be prepared to pay about around 150 to 200 dollars depending on how much your dentist charges for root canals and the difficulty of the case. Also even if the decay is deep it might not need a root canal only a dentist can confirm such a diagnosis and until then I would not worry too much. hope this helps, 3rd Year Dental Student, Future Endodontist

Best health / dental insurance for a sole proprietorship?

I work for myself. I live in Ontario and have a small business. I have no employees and am looking for a health / dental insurance package for myself that is affordable yet robust. Any small business owners out there that can recommend a company and give any details about what sort of premium you pay and what you get out of it? I'm not sick or anything, but I do need to go to a dentist. I haven't been since i started working for myself 4 years ago! I need a package that I won't feel like "Why am i paying this much every month if I'm only getting this..." .. anyway, any advice appreciated.
--------------------
I haven't ever seen any dental policies that pay out more than they cost. When you're shopping around, I think you'll find the same thing. And in Canada, I thought it was illegal to have private health insurance? I think you're stuck with the state program. But call a few local agents, and ask them.

Why did I get a Dental Bill when I have insurance?

I have dental insurance from United Health Care, that pays 70% of everything- but since when does CLEANING and checkup cost? My bill is $146.00!!! That's ridiculous. I shouldn't be paying anything. Unless you have cavities or are getting surgery, Dental Insurance covers cleaning, right? On top of this, I work at a famous museum- and gave my dentist & hygienist each 6 vouchers to go to the place- a $350 value! They both showed up with their friends and of course, I escorted them around and made it great for them. Now I'm getting billed! If anything, the dentist should have said "You know, he did get us those vouchers. Let me cut the bill down." Thoughts?
--------------------
The insurance is a contract between you and the company. The dentist has nothing to say about what they pay. He just submits his charges and whatever they do not pay or cover, you are responsible for. If they pay 70% of everything, that includes exams, x-rays, and cleanings. They do not state that they pay 100% of those. And the dentist doesn't do them for free. So if you have a complaint call the insurance company and complain.

I don't really know what the actual paper's called, but it's kinda like a statement. Here's what it says: Your doctor is billing a total of $3,500.00 for a 30 month treatment plan. The United Concordia allowance is $3,500.00. Deducted from this allowance are: Prior Treatment Costs: $625.00 Coinsurance/Patient Liability: $1,050.00 Amount Exceeding Dental Contract Maximum: $1,200.00 Total Available Prgram Benefits: $625.00 Total Remaining Program Benefits: $625.00 Over the course of treatment 0 quarterly payments of $0.00, and a final payment of $625.00 will be issued. TDP orthodontic quarterly payments are automated; therefore, it is not necessary to submit claims for subsequent quarterly payments. Can someone please explain this to me? Does the insurance cover the entire treatment, or do I still have to pay the rest of the treatment? Thanks
--------------------
To boil this all down the insurance company has paid $625 and will pay another $625 at the end of the treatment. You are responsible for the rest. The total orthodontic benefit is $1200 and you are responsible for the rest. This is pretty standard for dental insurance which I have found to be not worth the money unless the employer pays a big chunk of the cost.

Finding help for gum disease/dental problems on a college student's budget? (Or insurance options)?

Growing up, my family never had dental or health insurance. My mother took me to the dentist when I was two or so for a check up, but after that I wasn't able to go again until the sixth grade when I had a cavity the size of a crater in one of my back teeth. It had been hurting my ear more than my mouth, so we thought it had been an ear infection. I ended up getting a root canal and practically rebuilding the tooth, as well as two other small fillings. I didn't feel thing! I was lucky my grandmother was still alive then to foot the bill. I went again at the end of my senior year in high school for a cleaning, filling two cavities, and seeing what could be done about my wonky back (wisdom?) teeth and TMD. (As an aside: I was punched in the jaw accidentally when I was younger, and the doctor told us to see a dentist. The sixth grade dentist told us we'd have to see a doctor about it. The next doctor told us to see a dentist. The senior year dentist said to see a doctor. Can anyone give me some advice on this matter while you're here?) Long story long, I haven't seen a dentist since then. I had a really bad vitamin B12 deficiency last year that no one could figure out, and despite flossing and brushing to an almost obsessive extent and trying to maintain good oral health, my gums kept recessing. I've always had a tooth on my bottom row that was pushed forward when those (still) wonky back teeth grew in. That's where it's the worst. I've been begging my mother to send me to a dentist since then. I even asked for a dentist appointment for Christmas. I'm currently attending school at Western Washington University and have no real income. I do get a refunded check from my financial aid every quarter, but it's all I get for three or so months, and I by the time my books are bought I hardly have enough for groceries. My mother wants to help out, but she's in worse shape than I am. Basically, I need a lot of dental work down, possibly some orthodontics, too, and I need to find a place that will give good service for a low price. Also, any information on dental insurance plans that would be good for my situation is appreciated. I've looked around, but I'm really hopeless when it comes to all of this. I have no idea what I'm doing. If you happen to live in Bellingham and have a good, kind dentist (or if you happen to be one), I'd be thrilled if you'd provide the contact information. Even if the services are not cheap, I'd still like to discuss possible payment methods with a reputable dentist. (I'd really prefer a dentist that is highly skilled. As much as I'm desperate right now, the really cheap dentists that do quick fixes or, worse, end up progressng the problems I already have are something I'd rather avoid.) If you don't live in the area, but you know of some good insurance companies that take pity on currently unemployed, poor college gals, that's great, too! To be honest, I'm actually really embarassed by the state of my teeth. I'd really like it if anyone who answers refrained from ridiculing me or telling me I brought in upon myself or something like that... Believe me when I tell you I would have gone sooner if I had the chance. Thank you, and sorry the details of this question have gone for so long!!

Is there a waiting period when you switch dental insurance?

When I signed up for my dental insurance, they said since I had insurance with another company already (for the previous 4 yrs) that there was no waiting period, so I end up getting dental work done and then they sold their company to someone else who says the exact opposite, but I have the original app that was submitted online with the original dental card, so can they deny my claim? I am submitting my proof to them, but would like some feedback, thanks.
--------------------
Refer to the package you received from them after applying. This is something that will be, should be and must be, included in summary of benefits. What ever is stated there is what the deal is, it's written contract basically, usually in most cases you have 10 days to look at it, and decide if you want to keep it or not. There are some companies out there that will waive waiting period if you had prior coverage, so yes it's possible. Good luck.

How can I get dental work done without insurance?

I've been sick for almost a month, now that all the sinus infection symptoms have subsided it feels like I have at least one infected tooth which could be the cause of all my other issues. (The hospital called it a viral upper respiratory infection.) I do not have dental insurance and not made of money. Does anyone know of a dental program in Austin that will take patients asap that uses students or will set up payment plans? I know how serious tooth/jaw/mouth infection can become, I really want to get myself fixed up. Any advice really will be a big help.
--------------------
Just don't walk into a dentist's office. My suggestion, sign up for one of those discount dental plans. You'll probably save what you paid for it on your first visit. Almost every dentist will take these plans. Also, these plans do have preferred dentists. If a dentist takes these plans, they agree to charge fixed/negotiated fees by the plan. You can sign up virtually or over the phone! There is no "pre-existing" condition, for example, what you're describing. Go to this link: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=dis…

Can I find out if the custodial parent is providing dental insurance for our child?

I am required to pay for half of our child's dental bills. The custodial parent provides me with a copy of a bill that shows what was paid and then I send a check in the mail for half. I noticed on one of the recent bills that it showed something about estimated insurance. I began suspecting that it may be possible that dental insurance is being provided for our child, the bill is being paid upfront, the bill is then given to me, then a claim is being submitted to insurance to get reimbursed for the full/partial amount after I have already reimbursed half. Due to HIPAA regulations, I know it's not going to be possible for me to ask the dentist if dental insurance is being provided by the custodial parent. Based on past experiences with the custodial parent - if this was happening, I wouldn't be too surprised. I just want to know if there's any way I could go about finding out. I understand I could just go ask the custodial parent, but I already know that's going to be pointless. I was going to go see the dentist and ask if it is possible to be billed separately for half each visit, but I'm not sure if that is possible or not. I was just wondering if anyone else had any ideas or suggestions. Thanks.

does braces covered by dental insurance or medical insurance?

i might need braces and i was wondering if it's going to be covered by insurance or maybe pay half? i have local 25 (union) insurance.
--------------------
It is covered under your dental insurance, if your plan has that type of coverage. Call your dental insurance company and ask them, because every policy is different. You probably will have a deductible, then a percentage that you have to pay, and sometimes insurance only covers up to a maximum (like 1000 or 2000 dollars) you really just have to call and ask.

Questions about dental work, cost with insurance.?

I realize this is a very general question and without more details it would be hard to say, but I am looking for some estimates on how much it would cost to fix my teeth. I have not been to a dentist in years. I had a tooth crack, and had a root canal done. The tooth has since broken off completely and is missing. I have 2 seriously chipped teeth and a few others slightly chipped. I do not have dental insurance yet, but my provider through my job would be Blue Cross and Blue Shield. I am looking for how much it would cost Me out of my pocket to fix my teeth once I am insured. Any help whatsoever would be appreciated.
--------------------
You can look up the average cost of all sorts of dental procedures - including the root canal and chipped tooth at http://www.smarthealthbuyer.com. They have average prices, as well as reviews of dentists. All the prices are for out-of pocket prices. Dental costs vary widely by geography, so best to put in your Zip code and use the dental cost calculator in your area. The root canal will probably cost $500, depending on the tooth, and you will probably need a crown as well for the broken tooth - say $800 depending on the materials used - porcelain, gold etc.

I can't seem to find out how to get dental insurance without needing medical also.?

I have a health insurance plan with work but can' t seem to get the dental coverage as there aren't others willing to take it. I need to get some. How in the midwest can I get seperate dental insurance? NOT dental plans that pay a part of it but aren't insurance as I need the insurance. Those often have a waiting time and only pay a small part the first year of it. I have soft enamel teeth and need ongoing or repeat dentist visits to keep the teeth later on. I did an online search and they want a ton of info to send a quote just or they don't offer an actual insurance coverage. IF anyone has a great coverage that is nationwide please let me know. I have a dire need for this.

Is There Any Good Dental Insurance out there?

Okay, my brother and I were planning on getting braces. My dad had good insurance for it. (Humana and Harvard Pilgrim). My dad lost his job a while ago and we pretty much wasted a lot of time with consultations with the orthodontist. My mom is the only one working right now and her plan is Blue Cross and Blue Shield which doesn't cover dental cost. Is there anything else I can look up or do to get dental insurance? My parents are don't really know much about this stuff, since they were born in a different country many years ago. I'm not having much luck finding anything and I would like to have my braces on already.

No dental insurance, but a huge problem. Please help.?

Okay, so my boyfriend (20 yrs old) does not have dental insurance, but chipped one of his back teeth about a year ago. Since, a lot more has chipped off of his tooth, causing him extreme discomfort when eating or drinking anything. I'm worried that it will absess, or some sort of infection could occur if he leaves this untreated for much longer. He also has some sensitivity in his other teeth, despite being very hygienic. Is there any way he can go to the dentist, without having to pay such an extreme fee to fix his tooth/teeth? If not, how much might it cost to fix his main issue: the chipped and decaying tooth?
--------------------
If the tooth hurts when he eats or drinks, he may have nerve exposure. To treat this he needs a root canal or extraction. Root canals can cost 500-1000 to do. If he has it pulled it will be 80-300 depending on where he goes. Community Health Centers are now starting dental centers where you can get a great discount on treatment. Most offices do give discounts if paying cash and some take payments.

No dental insurance for my 18 month old? Emergency!?

My 18 month old needs to see a dentist right away, but we literally JUST took him off our dental insurance. (He's my first, I never foresaw something like this or we wouldve never been so stupid!) We were in the ER last night after he fell off a toy and busted his right front tooth. I need to make an appointment for him today, are there any places that are low cost or do I need to just make him an appointment at a regular pediatric dentist? Please help! Thanks. Sincerely, Worried Mommy
--------------------
Take him to a pediatric dentist. They will likely give you a price quote for the initial visit on the phone, because the initial visit is typically just an exam and maybe x-rays. After the exam the dentist will give you an estimate based on what needs to be done. Most dentists today have some type of financing program available if you have decent credit, so you can ask them about that - it's not through the dentist directly, but with a finance company that has special programs set up for dental work.

Question about dental insurance and preexisting conditions?

I have a tooth that is hurting badly and needs a root canal or an extraction. I went to a dental center for a free consultation and got x-rays and a prescription. A few days later I talked to my dad and he told me he could provide me with dental and health insurance. So my question is, once he adds me to his preexisting plan, will they cover my root canal, or will they know about me going to this free consultation and deem it a preexisting condition?
--------------------
Report thjis condition before you get your policy if you don't then it will be fraud which means alot of trouble. Many times if you have a preexisitng they will not cover your for a certain time period then coverage will begin.

Chicago~~No dental Insurance, No money, Needs several teeth pulled now...HELP!?

My boyfriend who is laid off and on unemployment has no dental insurance, no money, and needs several teeth pulled. He has at least one abscess going on in there... and he has been up for 36hrs now because he is in pain. He has been to the urgent care, they referred him to the hospital, and the hospital set him up an appointment at UIC. From what I understand UIC used to have a first come first serve basis of care set up, where i think they would take care of you for free, but now apparently they charge $150 per tooth. Does anyone know where he could go in the chicago area to get completley FREE dental care. He needs several teeth pulled very soon! He does have an anti biotic and pain killers and thats not helping with the swelling or the pain yet... :( Any suggestions would be great...thank you!

How does my Canadian health insurance and dental cards work?

I live in Ontario and I got the first permanent job in my life, so I finally have benefits for once, but I don't know how to use my health insurance and dental insurance. Do I have to pay up front then get compensated later, or will the insurance be able to immediately take care of the cost of trips to the dentist or doctor? I'm hoping the cost can be taken care of right away because I can't afford to pay for expensive visits to the dentis up front, even if I will get the money back later. How much does the average dental check up cost in Canada because I haven't been to one since I was a teenager? I need new glasses, so would this be covered under my insurance too? Thanks for any info, preferably from fellow Canadians.
--------------------
Its going to depend. My employer and my wife's employer both use the same company. However the policies both companies have are different with regards to payouts. Trips to the doctor should be covered by OHIP. Most plans will not cover optometrist visits. For the dentist give your card to their admin, they can figure it out. My policy pays for their portiion of the coverage right away and I only have to pay for the remainder on the spot. My wife's plan she has to pay 100% at the dentist, but the covered amount is direct deposited to her bank in 1-2 business days. Most dentists take credit cards now. Check your plan formulary for eyeglass coverage. My plan has $0 coverage and my wife's is $200 every two years. (You'd think a tech company would have eyeglass coverage since 80% of the staffing complement is nerds) The dentist is going to try and get you to do a full set of xrays and possibly two cleanings if you don't regularly floss (there might be a lot of build up). You might be looking at $300 in the Toronto area.

is dental insurance worth the money?

I need to have a 2 teeth bridge put in and some other work done. I went to Queen Elisabeth Hospital today because my surgeon reffered me ( have got facial paralysis on left side) . I went to the dentistry dept and was told every thing I need doing, and then the dentist told me that they can't do it and my NHS dentist has to do it. Problem being is that my NHS dentist won't do the work on the NHS!! I want to know if dental insurance is a good idea or whether because it is a pre existing condition it wont be covered. Help with dental insurance?

My wisdom teeth are starting to come through, and i will need them removed. My job does offer dental, but from what I hear it's crap, and aflac is way too expensive. I'm not too great at choosing insurance, I don't know a thing about it; So looking for some help here. What would be my options as far as dental, something not too expensive, but also something that will cover a good portion of any oral exams or operations. I know I have to keep a plan for a while before I can receive benefits towards operations, and that's fine, my teeth aren't going anywhere and growing in painstakingly slow.
--------------------
I have a terrific dental plan that I found after months of searching and comparison shopping. Try to avoid dental discount plans or indemnity plans, they cannot guarantee what kind of discount you will get and they are usually a sham. Mine is a comprehensive plan that offers the same coverage for groups as well as individuals. It has no network, so you can see any dentist you want, and it has NO WAITING PERIODS for services, diagnostic, preventative, basic, major, etc. You can get it for under 30 bucks a month, and you can apply online at www.BestForLessDental.com~ another cool thing about the plan is it has a 100$ deductible that you only have to meet once, not every year, and it has an annual benefit of $1,250 bucks. much higher than anything else I found.

How does dental insurance work?

I am interested in getting my own dental insurance through Delta. Im covered under both my parents. However neither one of theres covers ortho after the age of 18. Im 19 and a full time student. Delta has a individual PPO plan in Cal. It has a prepaid annual premium of $100. There are also NO waiting periods. My question is if I pay the annual premium, what else would I have to pay to receive the ortho coverage? It just seems too good to be true, that I only have to pay a $100 a year and Delta would pay over a thousand dollars towards my braces. Is this true? Please help! Please dont tell me to call. I have and I guess Im just not easily trusting. I dont want to pay the hundred bucks and then have them try to get out of helping me. Then Ill be stuck with THREE standard dental plans.

Corporate-transferring health/dental insurance into spouses name?

My husband and I have worked at the same corporation for the past 11 years. Our health/dental insurance is in my name since I make slightly more than him. I am thinking of quitting since childcare is becoming unaffordable and it make more sense for me to stay home with our child. My concern is health insurance coverage. How long would it take for the insurance to transfer into my husband's name? I don't want to be without it in case anyone of us becomes sick. It would be hard for me to speak to someone in our Benefits department since a buzz would start with my question and I haven't made any real decisions yet. Any information out there?
--------------------
No, you don't have to wait until November. Losing coverage, by you quitting your job, is a "qualifying event" for your husband, and he can change his insurance election. The link below is to the applicable law. Don http://mtnhealthinsurance

HELP!! Explain my Dental Insurance? w/ details?

Ok so I have an dentist appointment of Thursday for a regular check up, I havent been to the dentist in a couple of years (no more than 3) the dentist I use to go to closed or moved - so i'm going to a new dentist on Thurs. I have only asked for them to do a regular check up to see if I need my wisdom teeth extracted (which I will) and to see if I need any other work done (which I do) but right now the main thing is to remove my wisdom teeth.. so I spoke to the dental assistant and she said they will do X-Rays & etc. due to me being a new patient Anyway just on Thursday according to my employers insurance policy below how much will I be paying that day?? and how much will I pay when I do return to have my wisdom teeth extracted?? what is the $75 deductible fee for? and when do I pay? I am the only person on my dental insurance and like I said I have only asked for a check up on Thursday so that the dentist can tell me what I need to have done.. and hopefully set up an appointment for next week to have the wisdom teeth get removed...... thanks for your help Coverage Type: Type A: Preventive Cleanings, Oral Exams, Fluoride Applications, X-rays, Bitewing X-rays Type B: Basic Restorative Fillings, Extractions, Oral Surgery, Endodontics, Periodontics, Periodontal Maintenance, Sealants, Space Maintainers, Anesthesia, Emergency Palliative treatment, Injections of antibiotic drugs Type C: Major Restorative Consultation, Implantology, Relining and Rebasing, Bridges & dentures, Crowns/Inlays/Onlays, Repairs of dentures, crowns, inlays, and onlays, Prefabricated stainless teel crown. Type D: Orthodonthia So the company pays: In Network: Type A: 100% of Fee Type B: 80% of Fee Type C: 50% of Fee Type D: 50% of fee Deductible applies to type B and C services only. Individual - $75 Family - $225 Annual Maximum Benefit Per Person - $1,000
--------------------
According to your description you should not have to pay for the first dentist visit, it would be covered under the type A . Then when you go to the Oral Surgeon (if that is where you go for your wisdom teeth) your deductible will apply there. When you go in for your consultation they will know exactly how much you will have to pay and it should be 20% of the fees plus your $75.00 deductible. That means the insurance will pay the Oral Surgeon $75.00 less than the full 80%. You should not have to pay anything until you go in to actually have your teeth pulled, unless your dentist does anything that is in the type B category (like fillings). But they will tell you before they do anything that will cost you. Hope that helped. And make sure that any dentist that you see is in your network. It is a lot cheaper. I am sure they asked you about your insurance when you made the appointment. Also remember the $1000,00 limit per year. Get the most important things done first and keep tract of how much you still have available, you can call your insurance company to find that out.

Need dental work, but I don't have insurance?

I haven't been to the dentist in a few years and now I really need to go. I probably have at least a few cavities and may need some crowns and/or root canals. I don't have any dental insurance so I would like to pay as little as possible while at the same time getting quality care. Can anyone recommend a good dental discount plan or dental insurance plan that I could buy that would take effect immediately? I also need to find a good dentist locally (Austin, TX) - so can anyone recommend a dentist or tell me a good place to look for one online? Thanks.
--------------------
you can actually check with your local university, If they have a dental program you can actually save big bucks with opting for this alternative. its the same type of treatment you would get at a regular dental office but the catch is you are being treated by a student. the students are carefully supervised by dentists so rest assured! you wont be some lab rat :o) I would call asap b/c they do have a waiting list and sometimes it will take a couple months before you can go in. You can also check your state dental page they may have recommendations. I found this website http://www.fcresidents.org/index.php?opt… they have offices which offer sliding scale. they base it off your income. these also tend to be pretty booked so if you go that route remember to call asap :o) I too dont have dental insurance and I know how much it sucks to pay full price for dental work.

His insurance only covers half of the work needed... Can I add him to my dental insurance after the diagnosis?

My fiance just went to the dentist. His dental insurance only cover's half of the cost of the work he needs. If we get married through the court this week, and I am able to add him to my dental insurance, will my insurance cover the other half? Or will they deny it because it has already been diagnosed making it a "pre-existing condition." Anyone have any answers or advice? We're trying to save for our wedding in just a few months, and I'd MUCH rather get married sooner and save the $1000 we'll have to spend to get his dental work done with his insurance alone.

does tricare/united concordia insurance dental insurance cover oral surgery and orthodontics?

i am 21 and my husband is joining the army sometime next month. when i was a kid, my dad was a staff sgt (E6) and i was under the impression tricare paid for EVERYTHING. but now i am hearing otherwise. i need a lot of dental work done soon. i have cavities that need to be filled, i have impacted wisdom teeth and i need oral surgery for that, and i need braces (dentist said they are necessary, not cosmetic). will i be able to immediately be on his insurance when he leaves for basic? will the insurance pay for any of my dental needs. i need all this done asap. thanks.
--------------------
Sadly the Tricare United Concordia dental insurance doesn't cover everything, you actually do have to pay a pretty big cost share. I signed up about a year ago, if you do it online you have to fill out a lot of info bout your spouse and wait for them to mail you a confirmation after they check your info. I think the cut off was like the 20th of the month, if you sign up on the 21st or later you have to wait until the next month til your coverage can take affect. They might not approve you until he gets out of basic as a graduate (just in case he purposely went and fails just so you could of got that coverage for those 2 months.) My husband is active duty (E6), I had oral surgery done (wisdom theeth removal), United concordia paid 40% ($600), I had to pay 60% ($700). As person said above, they do pay $1500 for braces MAX. Doesn't matter how necessary they are. I got braces put on and its pretty much purely cosmetic, they are paying the $1500, I had to pay the rest ($1900). I heard though that if your over 23 they wont pay any orthodontist treatment, so just make sure you visit an ortho asap to get started before then! Have fun being a military spouse :) It gets hard, but don't worry, there will always be other spouses around to help.

I don't have dental insurance and need gum tissue graft!?

How safe and common is this procedures? From what l've read,it's scary ...stitches,pain killers, swollen. What are the side effects? What's the best options for me? I had the assumptions that dentists that participate in insurance plans/dental groups are not going to be very decent. They charge at a discounted prices, why would a good doctor charge less. What about groups like Western Dental? Are they dependable? How are the dentists going to treat me if they find out l don't have insurance? Dental school is out of the question, the closest one is 6 hour drive.
--------------------
I was going to mention dental school until I saw your last sentence. I had 5 gum tissue grafts done at a dental school for $300 each. I had dental insurance, but I'm a healthcare teaching assistant and I enjoy having students practice on me. In the gingival graft procedure, tissue is excised from the roof of your mouth and stitched onto your gums. My thoughts on my 5 procedures: 1. Even after the "numbing shots", the excision of tissue from the roof of the mouth burns a little during the procedure. 2. The "numbing shots" themselves, of course, hurt. 3. The grafts feel bulky. You must fight the urge to stick your finger in there and clear all that bulky junk out. 4. The gums around the donor site must be flayed raw so they will accept the tissue. 5. My grafts were done one at a time. 6. One of my grafts failed. A student broke off a stitch in my gums and had to dig it out, causing swelling and lack of circulation to the graft area. 7. Painkillers are your friend. There is much pain for about 24 hours afterward. 8. Depending on the cause of your gum recession, the grafts may need to be redone after a period of about 10 years. If the original cause (i.e., crowded teeth, bad hygiene) isn't resolved, the gums may simply recede again. One source for your questions about which dentists to choose and what prices may be is the American Dental Association http://www.ada.org/public/index.asp. This may save your having to call dentists to find out their prices and whether they will even accept a noninsured patient without payment in advance. Yes, dentists who participate in insurance plans/dental groups have discounted prices. They even have to "write off" some of their charges. Some insurance companies say, "We will only pay (this amount) for (this procedure)" and the dentist simply has to accept that amount. I have always had dental insurance and have never had bad care from any dentist. Please try contacting the American Dental Association.

If I started a plan with Western Dental already then get dental insurance would it help out?

I started a plan with Western Dental when I got my cavities filled and have been paying $120 a month for it (no thanks to my Mom) because I have no insurance. Now that I got a promotion at my job I can get some dental insurance. Would getting dental insurance at this time help take out a chunk of my current bill with Western Dental? If not, should I still get dental insurance since I will be needing braces? (Defiantly won't be going back with WD though.)

no. it will not cover any service done prior to getting the coverage. most plans do not cover braces. check with your benefit rep or h r department.

13+ Cavities. I have dental insurance, but no money. HELP.?

I've been suffering from tooth decay since i was little. I brush and floss constantly but i always have cavities. My family is deep in dept and we have no money to take me to a dentist. I have dental insurance through my dads work, but no money to pay what it doesn't cover. I have over 13 cavities and i've recently started experiencing pain in one side of my mouth. Is there any place that i can go? Most places that offer low income or free dental care require you to have no insurance. Which i have. Or require you to have a low enough income, which my dad may exceed. Like i said, we're in deep debt. I may need one or more root canals along with fillings. Please, someone help. I'm in pain. Dental schools wont work. I can not arrange a ride to get there and back and i don't even know if they'll accept me. They also require you to submit an application, which can take up to THREE months to be looked over. I don't have that kind of time. I live in Cartersville, GA. I'm willing to drive to Atlanta if thats what it takes.

idk how old you are, but either you or your parents can get CARE CREDIT card. its a kinda like a normal credit card, but with higher limits, no interest, and VERY LOW monthly payments. i got it for my braces and i have horrible credit. and i mean horrible. my braces cost 4,500 after insurance, and my monthly payment is only $60.00. heres a link to it. www.carecredit.com

Good luck.

Where can i find cheap dental work in Southern California?

I'm under the age of 18 and my parents have horrible dental insurance. Their dental insurance covers less than 10%. I need to find a place that has rather cheap dental work, but not at a dental school. (I need a lot of work done). Thanks.
--------------------
I would also recommend Mexico because ive been, although like anywhere else you must do your due dilligence. and get recommendations before you decide.I managed to save around 90% of what it would have cost me. I had 28 top quality porcelain caps/crowns at a cost of $2400 Quite a saving on the $36,000 i was quoted at home. For more info see below. Hope this helps

Dental Problem and No Insurance!?

I have an impacted wisdom tooth and it's causing me extreme pain. The tooth itself isn't, it's the gum around it. I can't eat hardly and it hurts to open my mouth. I live in Sumter, Sc and none of the doctors will take me because I don't have dental insurance or a large amount of money to pay at once. Also a few of the have something call carecredit, well I've been turned down by that. I will go to Columbia, SC if I have to. Can anyone give me advice? Only serious people please answer, I'm in pain and do not feel like reading dumb answers. Thank You.
--------------------
It's infected. To help relieve some or all of the pain I would suggest the following: 1 teaspoon of baking soda + 1 teaspoon of salt + small amount of water = paste you rub that on and around the gum area where it is infected. You can also try swishing warm salt water around your mouth a few times daily as this will help as well. If you are not allergic to bananas I would also recommend eating those as well since they are a natural form of penicillin which will help kill your infection. I hope this helps you out a bit until you can find a better solution to have it pulled. I don't live in the US to offer any valued dental referrals on your current situation although I did come across this : http://www.discountdental4u.net/ASAP2.htm?source=SP_aetna I thought it may help your situation. Is there a really good dental insurance out there that covers implants and bridges?

My current insurance only covers $1500 a year of dental procedures... I think. It's Delta Dental and provided through my employer. I pay about $2 a week for it. As of right now, I am going to need either implants or bridges to replace four teeth, all molars. I do NOT want any embarrassing dentures or obvious dental work that everyone will be able to pinpoint. My dentist is regarded as one of the best in the area from what I hear, and offers all the state of the art procedures. Unfortunately, from what I've been reading, it seems that to replace four teeth, I might be looking at a dental bill in the neighborhood of $10,000. I could afford that, if it's in a payment plan over a few years... even at 4 years, that's like $200 a month... very expensive.

Is there ANY insurance that will cover my particular dental work?

I am 23 and have had crooked teeth all my life, I finally saved up 5-6k to get braces started, but the orthodontist dropped a bomb on me and said I needed oral surgey, 30,000 dollars worht of it. I got a second opinion and it was about the same. My insurance is Aflac and they won't cover it because they consider it cosmetic surgery, but I have never been confident about my smile and it has always held me back in everything. I was so excited about finally getting them started and now I am back to square one. My teeth are not mildly crooked, they are very very out of place and on top of that I have a severe and uncomfortable overbite, to assume this is just for cosmetics is retarted to me. Someone please tell me there is an organization or insurance or something anything that can at least help me get started, I'm a college student so going into more debt is not a fun idea to me, Thanx for any answers.
--------------------
Yes there is. I paid only $2000 for my braces because of this great plan I have. www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now when I was in college and they have saved me thousands on all services. From my braces, cleanings, xrays, exams..etc. All services are included in this very affordable plan. My benefits were even active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day.

What's the best dental insurance?

I just moved to america and historically had terrible dental health care (I have not seen a dentist in 6 years). I work, but have no benefits and make little money and go to college part time. Two wisdom teeth have broken through (they're not giving me trouble) but I have other teeth that I know will be problems. What the best dental insurance plan out there where I pay the least amount of money for the procedures since I don't have money to spare, but I can afford a dental plan with monthly bill. I live in Tampa Florida.. and I don't really understand the system here. Thank you for any help.
--------------------
As opposed to the above answer there are individual plans available. You have four options with dental. 1. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you. You can find one here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Den… 2. 3. 4.

How would I be able to get dental insurance?

I'm 16 almost 17 and in need of dental care. I need a root canal in my two front teeth, they aren't bad, but when I was about 11 I knocked them almost completely out. But anyways, My dad doesn't have dental insurance, nor do we have health insurance. The estimated cost for my two teeth are well over 2,000. And when I turn 18 I will be getting an implant. But so my question is, would I be able to get dental insurance. I can pay for it no problem, it wouldn't be my father paying for it. It would be me. I am currently pregnant, as we speak. I'm almost 6 months. If that has anything to help with. And my mother passed away last year. Do I have to wait until I turn 18? What can I do? Thanks.

Is there a reason dental insurance wouldn't pay for this?

My stepdaughter has dental insurance through her mother at the moment. Her mom is in the air force (I don't know if that makes a difference). She was playing on the playground with her friends and fell and broke her front tooth in half. She went to the dentist today to have it repaired. I talked to her later this morning and she said she didn't get it fixed because the insurance wouldn't pay. Now she is going to have to wait until January to get her tooth fixed. This is unacceptable to me. Why should a ten year old have to be embarrassed and walk around with a broken tooth!? I am sure it is also uncomfortable and painful when she eats. Does anyone know why the insurance would deny this?
--------------------
There are several possible reasons, and it's difficult to narrow down without more information. 1) You mention waiting until January to fix it, so there might be a calendar year maximum on the policy. If it's a household policy and someone else had any reconstructive work done, it would likely cap out the policy for the year. They're usually low enough that a single root canal from a endodontist will cap the policy. 2) What level of "fix" was it? Extraction and replacement? Crown? A simple cosmetic temporary filling? I've had significant reconstructive work done on front teeth, and a cosmetic temp only runs about $100. It's not a permanent fix (I've had one hold for 6 years, another for 6 months), but it should hold until January if she's careful with it. This likely wouldn't be covered by insurance since it's a temporary fix, at best. 3) The fact that it's through the Air Force may have something to do with it. While I'd sincerely hope that military families get better coverage than civilian employees, I know the dental benefits I got when I worked for the IRS were pretty bad.

Individual Dental Insurance?

I am a college student and I need to have a lot of work done on my tooth, My teeth are in atrocious condition and lately I have not been able to get through a meal without extreme pain, I have already had two root canals done which I paid for out of pocket, ($500 each) that did not include caps so those teeth are still uncapped. I still need to have about 3 root canals done which will also need to be capped and my wisdom teeth remove. What should I do? Is there individual dental insurance, I have no dental school near me. I have tried to figure out any way I would be able to pay for it and it just doesn't seem possible. Does anyone have an ideas? I am in serious pain

I have some dental insurance plan questions (DMO VS PPO)?

I'm thinking about switching over to a more expensive dental plan in Aetna which gives me the benefit maximum of 1000 dollars per year. First, I want to give you some of the coverages Aetna gives me in the more expensive plan: Annual deductible for family: $300 preventive services: 100% basic services: 80% major services: 50% annual benefit maximum: $1000 orthodontic services: 50% orthodontic lifetime maximum: $1000 My current plan is mostly a patient co-pay plan. They cover everything in diagnostic procedures and preventive procedures (except space maintainers), but everything else I pay from about 15 dollars up to 280 dollars. so here I go with my questions: 1. the annual benefit maximum of 1000 dollars means 1000 dollars for each member in the plan, right? 2. what does the annual deductible exactly mean? 3. three of my sibling need braces. so does that mean each of them get 1000 dollars off the braces cost? And because its a LIFETIME maximum, it means that you can't get another 1000 dollars off the following year, right? So if this is true, after each of my siblings use up the 1000 dollars, the insurance will cover for half of the braces cost? 4. since orthodontic maximum and annual benefit maximum are two different things, if you were to get braces and get some restorative procedures done, you'd have 2000 dollars to spend total for that year? (for two of my siblings, after their teeth straightens, the dentist needs to do other things to some of their teeth to completely get rid of the decay) (I just need advice on the following questions) 1. the current insurance plan (DMO) is $16, and the more expensive plan (PPO) is $56...which is cheaper for my family?---is the ppo plan worth it? 2. how expensive are braces in New Jersey or nyc metropolitan area?---would it be cheaper to just keep the current dental plan and go to a dental school for the braces? I know these are a lot of questions...but I really need help to make the right choice here...my parents aren't good at english, so they're relying on me to help them make the right choice. And my family is in a lot of financial strain, but we need to get my siblings' teeth treated as soon as possible or we might have to extract them and give them bridges. it wasn't really their fault that their teeth are decaying...its just that their teeth are so unaligned that there are some surfaces they can't reach with the tooth brush... Please! I'm desperate for help!

Dental Recep. or Manager -Dental Insurance Calculations?

I need to figure out how to calculate dental insurance. For example, what the insurance will pay out and what the Pt's responsibility is. Lets say a Pt has a $2,500 treatment plan his/her yearly max is $1,000 and has not met his/her $50.00 deductible. Their coverage is preventative at 100 percent basic at 80 percent and major is covered at 50 percent. Can anyone give me several different examples of how I can figure out the Pt's portion. Now if the patient has used part of their yearly max again, how will I calculate this? Any help would be great.
--------------------
1. No benefit will kick in until the $50 deductible is paid. 2. Suppose the pt. gets x-rays ($85), exam ($60) and cleaning ($75)...which are all preventive care....then the total coverage received would be $220. 3. So now, the pt. will be eligible to receive additional benefit of $1000- $220 = $780 for the rest of that year. 4. Suppose it was determined that the pt. would need 5 fillings (basic care) at $100 each covered at 80%. So, for each filling the pt. will receive a benefit of $80 and the copay will be $20. So, in other words, for these 5 fillings pt. will end up receiving a total benefit of $400 5. At this point the pt will have a total benefit of only ($780 - $400) = $380 remaining for that year. 6. If at this point the pt. needs 1 root canal treatments at $900, 1 build up at $300 and 1 crown at $1200.....all of these will be covered by 50%. So, the pt's coverage should be respectively $450/-, $150 and $600. In other words, a total of $1200. But he / she has only $380 benefit remaining. Therefore, even if his / her plan says that for major dental work 50% is covered, the pt. will not receive that coverage because of the annual maximum benefit allowed under the plan. Hope this helped.
