How does the health insurance work in the UK?

Is there a government health insurance for every employee in the UK? How much do you pay per year? Is it deducted from your paycheck? Can you get additional health insurance? Are vision and dental usually included as a benefit from your employer? I am moving to the UK and would like to know a bit more about what to expect. Thank you!
--------------------
The NHS (National Health Service) is either free or very cheap: the idea is that everyone can use it. Although the UK is a wealthy country, the NHS has many issues: if you have an accident, you could find yourself waiting for much longer than you expect to get surgery or an examination. There are lots of delays and some misdiagnosises, but the doctors are very good, and carry out very complex surgeries very efficiently. If you can afford it, there is private insurance, and different clinics range in insurance price, and there is travel insurance. I'm only 15 so I'm still not entirely sure how it works, but this is a basic overview. Hope this helps.

Dental checkups-no insurance.?

I need to make a dentist appointment due to some loosening of my bottom teeth. I have no insurance and have quite a low monthly income ( due to being laid off recently ) If i don't have enough money for an appointment and desperately need one, what can I do? Is there a way I could get some sort of loan for it?

You can easily check your minimal health care rates in internet, for example here - health-quotes.isgreat.org

how to get dental service wo insurance??

how mcuh will they charge for cleaning and check up? what rates should i expect to pay?
--------------------
You are probably going to pay anywhere from $50-90 depending on the place and what they want to do. Most places want to do exrays for the first time and that will be on the higher side of that. You can go to a dental school and have them do it for half the cost and you are still inspected by a real Dentist eventhough your cleaning is done by a student. They can do all the things that a dentis office can offer you so you might give it a shot.

Dental work needed, and no insurance or money....?

I am in need of dental work, I have been for a few years now, and its getting to the point that I REALLY need it now. My husband, child and I live off of less than 1000 a month(hubby is disabled), and after bills, only about 200 a month...so we are WAY below the poverty level. I cannot get medicaid or anything because we make to much money (they told me that because we make over 500 dollars between the two of us, that that is above the line...which is ridiculous) and I dont know what to do anymore...are there any dentists that will take the money in installments?? we dont have money to even pay for a down payment...What can I do?? is there low cost health insurance for below-poverty level people like me?? Thank you...
--------------------
You should apply for state welfare insurance. You may qualify. And if you do qualify then you can get dental work done for free. You should call the board of dentistry in your state and ask them if they know where you can go for free dental care since you are poor. The only other thing you can do is have cheaper work done at a dental college. Move to Massachusetts because you can get insurance here for free if you make so little money. You would qualify here in Mass for state welfare insurance.

Has anyone here ever received dental care at South Texas Dental?

is it affordable, because I don't have dental insurance?
--------------------
I haven't, however I am going to answer anyways. I have been in the denal field for over 11 years and I have worked for one of those chain type dental offices before. You need to be very careful going to those places. Normally, they cut corners by buying cheaper dental materials or from over-sea companies where the materials might not be stored at the proper temperature (Therefore not working properly). They also tend to pack patients into their schedule, therefore making patients have to wait a long time to be seen. Also, they tend to hire dentists and assistants to work for them that are not overly concerned with continuing education, and basically take the minimum required by law. Sometimes cheaper isn't better. You may pay less in the beginning, but you might be actually paying more in the long run, especially if you end up having to have work redone.

Question about braces and insurance?

I'm going or a consultation soon for braces but I don't have any dental insurance right now. When I start school in the fall, I will be put back on my mom's insurance. If I get braces now will the insurance take over the cost when I'm put back on or should I just wait until have the insurance to get the braces. Sorry if anything doesn't make sense. Thanks in advance.

Insurance that you get later doesn't cover expenses that you have now.

Tough luck. Welcome to the plight of the middle class. Take out a loan if you want the cosmetic work so badly, otherwise stick to necessary work.

Price of dental services in Ontario, Canada?

I am moving from Quebec to Ontario and will no longer have dental insurance. Could someone tell me about how much it costs to have a standard dental exam and teeth cleaning in Ontario (I'll be in the Ottawa region specifically). Also, if you know, how much it costs to get a filling for a cavity. Thanks for whatever info you may have. When i try googling, i get all sorts of dentist websites, but none list their prices that I have seen. Just want to know what I should be prepared to deal with.
--------------------
It really depends on the dentist/person doing the work.

Are utilities and insurance considered services or goods for 1099 purposes?

can you cancel your insurance through your job if you quit?

im sure this is a common sense question, but i have no clue! my husband just got dental and medical insurance through his job, he is about to apply somewhere else and if he gets the job hes putting his 2 weeks in. so can we simply cancel his insurance? we cannot afford it on our own, so surly we can! do you just call and cancel or what? OR i guess, will it automatically terminate once he quits?
--------------------
When your husband quits, the policy will cancel automatically. If however, you decide you want to actually keep the coverage (IE: the new job doesn't offer benefits), you have up to 30 days to convert your old jobs benefits to an individual policy. And to correct the previous answer. YES, in some cases you can cancel it prior to quitting. MOST emploters require 100% participation (meaning all employees have to take it), but some do not. I have a side job where benefits are offered, but are not required by all employees, so I am personal proof that you can infact cancel employee benefits even while still working at a place.

My boyfriend has been with out medical insurance almost his whole life and he comes from a low-come family?

and he is low income also. what can he do to get medical and dental insurance? we live in nebraska
--------------------
Look for state assisted insurance first but after that, look for a catastrophic policy. There are some decent ones out there that even will pay for a specific number of office visits. You basically want to make sure that if he (heaven forbid) gets cancer or something like that, that he is covered. Also, have him start looking for an employer who will give him health benefits through his workplace.

Need affordable health insurance that also covers dental and optical?

I live in Arizona and I need reliable affordable health insurance for my fiance. I have never had to shop for health insurance before since I have Tri-care so I have no idea what I'm doing. His main thing is optical because things keep happening to his glasses and now he has none. Dental is important for him as well since he had some recent things done with his teeth that give him trouble now and then. A little help?!? I have no idea where to start. I tried google but I do not know if I can trust many services out there. Thanks for your help.

I work for a company in the state of ohio that does not offer dental inurance, where can i obtain coverage?

I checked with aetna and cingna but you have to also purchase health insurance to get dental.
--------------------
There's a company out there that helps people who do not have and need affordable dental benefits. It includes all basic things and then surgery, crowns, even orthodontics. There's no high premiums, deductibles, co-pays, waiting periods, or anything like that at all. They can save you up to 80% on your out of pocket expenses for a very small fee every month. It could end up saving you a lot of $$ over traditional insurance. Try this website and you can check out the specifics and providers in your area. http://www.everyonebenefits.com/40424269… They are wonderful. I have benefits through them as well. Hope you find what you need. Please email me if you have any questions, and I'd be happy to help you if I can. Best of luck.

Is it normal for a dentist to keep a credit from an insurance reimbursement?

If you had a dental procedure and your insurance covered it, but the dentist still made you pay out of pocket, shouldn't the dentist inform the patient immediatley once the insurance company reimburses them? Shouldn't the patient know that he/she has a credit? Is it normal for them to not tell you and just apply it to your next appointment without your knowledge?
--------------------
Usually dental insurances do not pay the whole thing. They pay part of it and then the patient pays the rest of the fee or a copayment. If you are unsure CALL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY. The number is on your card. Call and speak to someone there. Ask them if they covered the whole dental procedure you had done. And then if they say they covered 100% then tell them that you also paid the doctor and the doctor didnt give you any money back. The insurance company needs to know if the doctor got paid 2 times (once by you and them) if he shouldnt have. They can help you. Most likely the insurance paid about 80% and you had to pay the balance.

I need dental work done badly and have no insurance and am financially challenged...?

I have a flouride deficiency in my teeth and haven't had insurance for 6 years. I need a lot of work done for a low cost. I am looking for a school where I can get this done in or near San Diego, CA, or some kind of financial aid to help me. Any help is appreciated. You can also email me at dancingbear247@yahoo.com. Thanks everyone!
--------------------
Check out the dental schools in your area. My son had a lot of work done at a dental school. Low to NO cost! And the work is great. All work is supervised by a dentist at the school my son had his work done. Even dental hygienist programs at community colleges sometimes offer cleanings.

Sorry that sounds really awful. On Monday call the county health department and ask them for suggestions. There probably are programs (such as Medicaid) to help you. Good luck.
