Wisdom teeth extraction?

Three of my wisdom teeth have grown in properly, however one has not and I'm trying to get all four of them removed to get it done and over with and to relieve me of any further complications down the line. I have dental insurance and all four extractionS are free, however considering one of me teeth is impacted the (only) dental surgeon at my dentist requires that I be put to sleep for this process, under general anetisia which costs $475 dollars, the extractions are free, but not the anestia that HE OH SO REQUIRES. My mom DOES NOT want me to go under because she just not trust this place, considering I have one broken tooth due to them filling it with too much emalgum and may need to a root canal and crown because of it also one of my fillings cracked. My mother is very displeased with their service and we're going to switch dental places. BUT, DO YOU THINK THEY'RE JUST OUT TO GET MONEY? DO YOU THINK THAT IT ISN'T NECESSARY TO GO UNDER IF THERE'S ONLY ONE WISDOM TOOTH THAT IS IMPACTED? We don't have $475 for this procedure, but do you think this sounds CORRECT? Like the proper thing, I truly think they're just out to get money, which most places are, but I found this frustrating. And during my consultation, the oral surgeon who is only there on Monday's and Friday's was very touchy feely. And the guy who helps and checks your insurance plan at the front desk didn't want to tell us that if the doctor gave me just regular anestisia like the shot in the gum that it too WOULD BE FREE. He didn't want to say it, but he did, after my mom asked him a 2nd time. What do you think?
--------------------
I honestly thing the dentist is trying to rip you off. First of all, I had all four of my wisdom teeth that were impacted taken out all at once, and I didn't even go under anesthesia. My oral surgeon gave me the option in order to make me feel comfortable. He gave my tons of shots in my mouth to numb it and he also gave my laughing gas to calm me down. I listened to my ipod and was fine. If I were you I would definitely go to a new dentist. Also, 475 is a lot for the procedure, I think my dentist asked for 350. If I could stay awake throughout the procedure of 4 impacted teeth getting pulled out all at once, then you can surely do it without being put out!

What is wrong wth my toothaches now this..? 10 points?

Dental/ Well I had a really bad toothach that started last Wednesday after volleyball...friday i went to get advil I took 5 it didn't help....I went to the dentist on Saturday to get some prescriptions though they couldnt give them to me straight away they had to figure out what was wrong first required by law...So they took x rays of my mouth...figured that I have 2 root canals that need doing ($1700 for both) and 4 fillings/cavities. I got some prescriptions after and talked about how much it will all come out to without insurance around $230-250 for each cavity filling... So now im waiting until January to go to the dentist so my dads dental insurance can be put onto his company since their is only health insurance. But I threw up yesterday...first i took a tablet then i ate afterwards and i think i threw up because of that... now all of a sudden everytime im at my computer my fingers keep going numb on my left hand..??
--------------------
well i guess the throwing up part had something to do with the pill. now ur hand well, i don't know but u shouldn't get to worried. if things get worse i'd see a doctor.

SafeGuard HMO vs MetLife Max Plus?

I am currently regarded as a dependent under my dad's dental insurance (SafeGuard HMO). I visited the dentist yesterday and I need treatment totaling out to $2700. I'm thinking I should get a second opinion under a different insuarance. Would it be cheaper if I moved to my own employer's insurance (MetLife Max Plus)? Does anyone know if this is a good insurance company? Will I be paying less?? I've had bad experiences in the past with dental offices charging me A LOT. I've learned my lesson, and now I'm weary about any work that is "required" to be done on my teeth.
--------------------
The best would be to get a second opinion from another doctor on your dads plan. (Get a providers list and ask around with family and friends and see if there is anyone else they recommend that is on that list). About changing plans. All insurance companies differ by employer. You can always get a print out of coverage from your HR director as to estimated premiums and coverage. You can compare that to what your dad's insurance company covers. Insurance companies can be a pain in the butt sometimes, but I would at least start with a second opinion form another doctor. You are right, there are a lot of them that are in it for money because of the economy and all.... so just be careful. Many dentists will provide a free consultation as well, you just have to call around. Go with your gut instinct though! Usually it will be right... (like if the office is kept up nice, or all the employees are just hanging out and goofing off....) Just be careful! Good luck to you!!!

What's the difference from being an Illegal Immigrant and Being A Legal Immigrant?

LEGAL VS. ILLEGAL You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California. This is kind of long but shows why illegal aliens are BAD for the economy. Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted. Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table". Ready? Now pay attention... Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has $31,231.00. Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600 per week, or $31,200 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has $31,200. Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600 per month, or $7,200 per year. Joe Legal now has $24,031. Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200. Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500 per month for food, or $6,000 per year. Joe Legal now has $18,031. Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200. Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200 per month, or $14,400 per year. Joe Legal now has $9,631. Jose Illegal receives a $500 per month federal rent subsidy. Jose Illegal pays out that $500 per month, or $6,000 per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200. Joe Legal pays $200 per month, or $2,400 per year for auto insurance Joe Legal now has $7,231.00. Jose Illegal says, "We don't need no stinkin' insurance!" and he still has $31,200. Joe Legal has to make his $7,231 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc. Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month. Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work. Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family. Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal's children also have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay. Do you get it, now?

gingivitis during pregnancy?

how would they treat it? im 14 weeks, can i have a xray done during pregnnacy? i had no dental insurance for the last 5 years, my gums bled everynight before i got pregnant, well i now have insurance for dental but it only covers what medicaid would ( i have caresource) xrays, cleaning, cavities, dentures, and root canals on back teeth im not really sure what to do, i am unemployed and i've applied for every loan i could for dental (please dont be rude) anything i can do or do you think medicaid will go ahead and pay for it if its a bad medical problem, they bleed at night and my guns are swollen and im 14 weeks pregnant so its making it worse (and when i brush my teeth)
--------------------
gum problems increase during pregnancy, and medicaid will typically not cover dental issues. unfortunately, my dentist told me that there's not much they can do for these kinds of issues--you just have to grin and bear it. What I did to make it a little better was get sensitive teeth toothpaste and an electric toothbrush for around ten dollars...my gums bleed more than they used to, but I'm not having any more problems so far. I'm 25 weeks.

Whom would you support? Joe Legal or Jose Illegal?

Joe and Jose This makes perfect sense to me, so I thought I would share. Please pass along as you see fit... You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $ 1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take away state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has $31,231.00. Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00. Joe Legal now has $9,631.00. Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy. Jose Illegal pays $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200.00. Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00. Jose Illegal says, "Que?" "We no need no insurance!" and still has $31,200.00. Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc. Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month. If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens...You are part of the problem! It's way PAST time to take a stand for America and Americans!
--------------------
Hell I am Joe legal. For the last 28 yrs I've seen the affects illegals have had on the construction trades as far as wage suppression, and shoddy workmanship. Not to mention the legal workers they displace. I know many people who would love to swing a hammer to earn a living, but greedy little contractors are hiring illegals to cut their cost. I'm having some I.C.E. t-shirts made that I can wear on the job sites. I see anyone running, or acting suspect, guess who's getting a phone call.

You do realize that illegal immigrants have no access to government/state sponsored programs like food stamps, the medical card, or federal subsidies, right? Also- you are ASSUMING they don't pay taxes, because many undocumented people I know claim "self-employed" and file using a LEGAL Tax Identification Number assigned to them by the IRS. Also- where I am from, if you don't have valid insurance, you cannot obtain your renewals on registration for your car- which is required by law. (And trust me, the cops here will stop you ONE DAY after your plates expire.) This is how fear, panic and chaos spread.

the dental surgeon didn't do his job perfectly... he should attend to you free of cost... it is a matter of 2 month only... call him up and take appointment for a free consultation... i think he will put you on antibiotics... if antibiotics are permitted over the counter then you may try them...

broken tooth...?

My mother broke one of her front teeth (a canine) recently and I was wondering what it usually costs to fix that sort of thing - like by replacing it with a denture or what ever the dentist does... she has no dental insurance, and I was thinking of paying for it for her... but I'd like to get an idea of what to expect cost-wise. Any help is greatly appreciated!
--------------------
Well, it depends on a lot of things. How badly is it broken? Is there decay? How deep is the decay? It also depends on where you are as to how much it could cost. I work for a dentist in SW MISSOURI & just to give you an idea..........To have the dentist look at the tooth & take one x-ray is $91.00. If it needs a filling they start at $155 & go to $224 depending on how big it is. Now, if the decay extends into the pulp & it needs a root canal......ours are $650.00. Then, if it needs a crown they are $887.00. If it needs a crown or rct it would also need a buildp which is $224.00. I hope this helps.

OUCHHH!! My tooth!!?

My wisdom tooth is coming in and my face is getting blotchy red form the irritation, OMG it hurts really bad. I dont have dental insurance and cant go see one right now. What can i do to make it feel better and make the blotchy red go away?
--------------------
Take neurofen instead or even panadol to assist the pain in the short run. However, you would definitely need to get yourself booked in with a dentist as an inflammed wisdom tooth would only get worse and cause more complications. A friend of mine left it and ended up in hospital under general anaesthetics as it got infected badly and her face just ballooned up. That procedure costed five times more than if she just went to see her doctor from the start. If you're concerned about the cost, there are dental plans and also dental schools. As for the blotchiness, you can use makeup to cover that up. Have a look at make up with the green tinge as it covers up redness well.

Has anyone had porcelain veneers...?

one of my fronts incisors keeps chipping...it has been fixed 3 times in the last year...this bonding obviously is not working. I expect they will suggest a porcelain veneer next...should I consider doing this? Will it be covered under my dental insurance...or is it considered cosmetic?
--------------------
They will hold up much better than composites. If your dentist submits the claim showing they are repairing broken teeth, they should not be considered cosmetic and your insurance company should pay. Any doubts, have your dentist get pre authorization. Good luck.

I have a question about dentist fees?

When you go to the Dentist office, do they usually charge you more if you have insurance as opposed to paying cash? I mean, like for example, for a teeth cleaning, let's say with cash they charge you $60 but with insurance they charge like $90 and insurance covers like $60 so you end up paying $30? Just because you have dental insurance, would they up the price like the example I gave here? I don't mean you pay more, I just mean do they up the actual price because of insurance and they know that you don't have insurance so they lower the price? How does that work out? thanks!
--------------------
Actually charging different fee's for the same procedure is illegal. You must charge the same fee to all patient's whether they have insurance or not.

Root planing vs. fillings?

One dentists said I need a full mouth debridement and 4 root planings (four quads) at $215 each an these fillings on 8F , 2MO and 2 OM. Cost $1030 The other dentist said I need fillings of 3 ODLB, 4B. 5B, 8MF, 9MF, 19 MOB. and no debridement or root planings. Cost $1190. So I'm confused. I have no dental insurance either. Which would be the better option??? In addition, after the exam, the second opinion dentist actually asked me if I had had my teeth cleaned recently which I hadnt! if that helps. These fillings are mostly along the gumline where I have brushed too hard receding the gums and allowing them to decay a bit I guess. One filling is a replacement for on going bad.
--------------------
That is quite a difference. May I ask what made you get a second opinion? Since you have a second opinion, and they are completely different, I would get a third opinion. There is a big difference b/n what the first two dentists say you need. Out of it all I would be concerned about the possible gum disease. Get a third opinion, and then I think you will have a much better picture to make an informed decision. Good luck!!

cosmetic dentistry..?

tooth problems?

last year i broke one of my second molars, just the top was broken and it didn't hurt (well..didn't hurt after it broke) and now its starting to hurt, and im not sure what i should do? So anyways i got 2 questions,Ive been using oragel to stop the pain, are there any other ways to reduce the pain? and im going to see the dentist on friday and i have no dental insurance and im short on money and fixing my tooth would cost likely and most probably over $1000, what should i do?
--------------------
If you have left it this long, and you are in pain, it will cost you a LOT more. There's not much you can do about the pain now, if it gets too bad, go to the hospital. They do have emergency dental supplies there. Keep in mind it's cheaper to address these things as soon as they happen. the longer you go, the higher the expense. Don't panic too much though, it shouldn't cost you all of that all at once. Even if you were to require root canal treatment, it's over three or so visits which are at least a fortnight apart.

Would you dump someone over this?

First of all i'm 26 and my GF is 25. We've been dating for 8 months. My girlfriend has developed a hole in the front of her 2 top front teeth. The hole is at the gum line. I'm worried that if she doesn't do anything, it will get worse and they will fall out. My problem is she won't go to the dentist (no dental insurance) even when I told her I would pay. This is embarrassing b/c sometimes food particles get stuck in it, and it's disgusting too. I can't bring it up b/c she will obviously become angry. But damn, she needs to take care of herself. She also gives the excuse that she is poor. Well she lives with her mom and works part time at a job that pays 7 bucks an hour. So it's her fault she is poor, she's a grown woman. Get another job, work some overtime. Something, don't just sit there and do nothing and let your teeth fall out. Everything else about her is perfect, but I don't know if I can put up with someone who obviously doesn't care about themselves.
--------------------
im with you on this one. as much as you should accept people with their imperfections, this one can be fixed so its not really an imperfection. i could never with someone that didnt take care of themselves. so do what you have to do. if anything you shouldnt feel bad, cus you've done enough to help her out.

What are the chances that I will get the full custody?

I am now married with my wife and had a newly born daughter and also have two kids with my ex-fiancee. My ex-fiancee and I had agreed with the court to have a 50-50 child custody with my two kids and I am currently paying and agreed to pay child support for them. We also agreed to have the two kids to spend the week with me or with her every other week. During the course of our relationship, we filed a domestic partnership just to cover her and my 2 kids with my current benefits with my present employer particularly with medical and dental insurance as my primary beneficiaries. When my ex-fiancee and I separated in 2005, I immediately filed and updated my insurance beneficiaries to remove her (my ex-fiancee) as my dependent and leave my 2 kids as my primary beneficiaries. In 2007, I met my wife and immediately got married. I filed and updated my insurance benefits and added my wife and my two kids (with my ex-fiancee) as my primary beneficiaries. Recently, my wife needed to see an eye doctor and she was denied to use my benefits and according to them, somebody already used it. I checked with the insurance company and found out that my ex-fiancee used my vision benefits without my consent. I checked with my employer said that they already removed my ex-fiancee and updated my file, but the insurance company said that they haven't updated their file and my ex-fiancee is still covered. I called my ex-fiancee and asked her why she used my benefits without any permission or consent from me and told her that she should not have used it since we are no longer together and our domestic partnership agreement with my employer had been waived when we got separated. She told me that it was not her fault that the insurance company had accepted her claim. Now, I am filing a complaint against my ex-fiancee for using my benefits without my consent. There were also instances that my ex-fiancee ask favor from me to have the kids spend the week with me which is not supposed to be my scheduled week with me and she left on a vacation with her current boyfriend. Now, I planning to file a full custody with my kids with her because I found out that she is unfit to be a mother and a parent. While the kids are scheduled to be with her, she always leave the kids with her mom and spent more time with her boyfriend than with her kids especially on special occasions. Also, she always use the court or filing a case against me just to harass me at work and at home when she needs something. I am already stressing out, mentally and physically of her threats to bring some issues and wanted to modify what had been agreed upon with the court. With these issues with her, can I file a case against her and file a full custody with my two kids? What are the chances that I may get the full custody with my kids? Do I have a case against her for using my benefits without my consent?
--------------------
For the benefits, you can sue her in a civil court for the amount the benefit covered, but it has nothing to do with the family court suit. For harassement, it is very difficult to prove it. If she has a viable claim in the suits she's filing against you, then the court will find it perfectly reasonable that they be served to you at work. In order for the 50-50 arrangement to be modified, there is going to have to be something more substantially that just her leaving the kids with her mother to spend time with the boyfriend. Generally, that is just not enough for the court to void a compromised on agreement. It looks like you're out of luck. Sorry.

Wal-Mart sales associate!!?

I need information on how many vacation days and holidays do you get if you get any... Also do you get any medical, dental insurance?? [if you do how much is it??] How bout retirement, pension, 401k?? how much.. I really need this info for my class its a project -thanks
--------------------
Wal Mart is terrific. I worked there for 35 years before my heart gave out. Vacation days? More like vacation months! 33.5 days up until your 5th year of tenure, then it jumps to 44.2 days. They have on eof the best 401K plans and you don;t even have to pay for insurance. It's incredible. (That's why so many WalMart employees voted against Obama.) Retirement is terrific, I have a 4 acre ranch that I'm mighty proud of out here in the hill country. All because of WalMart. God Bless Walmart! Funny little story here, one time me and Sam Walton, one time when Sam Walton was making the rounds passing through Odessa, we went out to one of them colored clubs. I do gotta say, that Sam, he liked his woman like his coffee, strong and black. Me? Well I was a bit more reserved and all. Sam was one crazy cracker. Hope that helps!
