dental question about insurance?

I'm planning on getting braces soon, and i need a plan or insurance that will cover the cost of teeth extractions. How much does it cost to get a tooth extracted? Also, does it cost more to get your wisdom teeth extracted? I've checked some insurances out but the waiting periods are too long. If i plan to get my teeth (6 including wisdom teeth) extracted, does that fall under surgical extractions or periodontal? Because periodontal has a 12-month waiting period. I would like to get in done withing 6 months.
--------------------
You can't get a private policy that's going to cover much of tooth extractions. It usually costs about $150 per tooth, but your policy likely has a deductible of $500 or so. Wisdom teeth are different. Yes, all the private policies will have a waiting period. Having teeth extracted counts as extractions, but likely you'll have a big fat deductible along with the waiting period.

anybody know of a dental insurance plan for low income families (which covers braces)?

I live in Alaska by the way. Braces for kids not adults.

Does anyone know of dental insurance with no waiting periods?

not looking for the discount, that barelly helps
--------------------
LOL, medicaid doesn't pay for 90% of dental procedures! They only pay for extractions, filllings, numbing meds. NOTHING ELSE. They don't even pay for cleanings! You're better off getting private insurance.

Is dental treatment included under medical insurance in any countries outside the US?

I'm looking to find how it works in other coutries...does the medical insurance ever cover dental care?
--------------------
I can tell you about the medical system in Germany: yes, the basic dental therapy is covered by the medical insurance. You don´t have to pay for check up, x-rays, root canal treatment, extractions, periodontal treatment, tartar removal (once a year)...if you want something special, like a composite filling, any better type of crowns (not just gold) then you have to pay. The price you pay depends on how much you earn. When you´re poor, the insurance pays more, sometimes even everything. But you´ll just get the cheapest materials. Our system seems to be much better than yours, but still it isn´t perfect and we have a lot of trouble. When I first read all the questions here, one thing really striked me: many people don´t have any insurance!!! In Germany you MUST have one. As soon as you have work, you´re automatically getting insured by your boss. If you´re jobless the work-agency pays your insurance.

I am about to have my wisdom teeth removed and have dental insurance. What is the typical out of pocket cost?

I live in a big city
--------------------
The other two answers are good: there are so many different plans and clauses in each plan, it's impossible to say what yours will cover. But....typical dental insurance (if there IS such a thing) pays 80% of their "usual and customary" charges on oral surgery. If you have a deductible, it will apply as well. So, in the above example, if your oral surgeon charges you $1000 and you have a $50 deductible you will pay 20% ($200) plus the deductible for a total out-of-pocket of $250. Of course, if your insurance company thinks $900 is "usual and customary", then it would pay 20% of that. See why it gets complicated??? Ask the dental office to give you an estimate before doing the work. The most reliable way to know your costs before hand is to request a pre-authorization. It takes time, but if money is a concern, this is the best way to go.

Affordable Dental Insurance in NY?

I live in Queens NY and I have no dental insurance. My mother works but she doesn't make a good amount and my father is unemployed. She has medical insurance, Aetna, but it doesn't cover dental and I need to have 1 stupid root canal done and it will cost 2000 w/o insurance. Anybody, I need help. I am also a student in college, so any help, I really need it.
--------------------
Call your local dental society. They can give you the names of dentists that provide low-cost, sliding scale or free care. Most cities, states and counties have them. NYU College of Dentistry also has a dental clinic. I'm a Social Worker and wish you and your mother the best. God Bless.

Dental Insurance how do i claim this?

This may sound silly but here i go... I have met-life ins for my dental, I got a lot of work done on my teeth paid $7000 and my ins is to pay 1500 of this.. i payed with credit card up front to my dentist how do i claim my insurance money through my dentist or through my ins company? hope you understand this question..
--------------------
your question is not that clear, but let me see if i understood it... if you payed up front, that means you had a co-pay. your insurance probably covered that procedure at 50% or 80% or whatever percent depending on what was done. If the dental professionals told you that your insurance will pay $1500, that money goes to the office. You really cant claim anything, the office should take care of all that. you shouldnt be getting any money back either. hope everything was clear.. :)

I am looking for low cost dental and vision insurance. Currently reside in Georgia and wanted to know if any?

Was looking at Humana but wanted to find out what other companies were out there. If you can please tell me why you chose the company you are currently with.
--------------------
I used to have dental insurance, but canceled when I signed for this discount program. It gave me almost 50% to 80% off regular dental stuff which is about what I would pay even if I had insurance.. but I don't have to pay the $50 a month for the insurance. It's 20 bucks, and it gives me dental coverage, vision, prescription and chiropractic. And it's 20 bucks for anyone living in my house. My roommate (who is not related to me) gets the same discount on her stuff. If you sign up today, you can go the Dr. tomorrow, no limits, no deductible. you just pay whatever your discount is. It's great. www.EveryoneBenefits.com/smiles click on dental plus. You can search for a dentist in your area, and then at the top hit join now. Register with the site, and you're good to go! Good Luck!

Dental insurance bundles service?

I had a Crown put in. The dentist billed the insurance two seperate procedures: a.Core Build-up b. Porcelain Crown. But the insurance says the core build-up is included in the bundled Crown price. So they only paid for the Crown. Question: Should the dentist bill me for the core build-up? Considering the insurance has paid for the bundled service, is that a double charge?
--------------------
Those are two seperate procedures, two seperate fees, and two seperate procedure codes, so you haven't been 'double-charged'. The insurance company probably doesn't cover core buildups, as some don't. I've never heard of a 'bundled crown price'... You could always as the dental office to resubmit the core fee, only this time send an xray and a narrative as to why the core was needed. If it gets denied again, you'll be responsible for the core fee. Good Luck! :)

how can i get dental help with so so credit and no insurance and no money my teeth are bad im in terrible pain?

im unemployed have no money so so credit and no dental insurance my teeth are bad and im in terrible pain how can i get dental help
--------------------
You'll have to go to the ER and they will either give you antibiotics for the infection if you have one, or pull the tooth. The ER doesn't do root canals or fillings I'm afraid. They can also give you pain meds.

Does dental insurance usually pay for veneers?

Usually? Or is that considered a luxury? They also wouldn't usually pay for teeth whitening, or would they? (Yes, I know it depends on my insurance. I'm just asking, in general do they?)
--------------------
depends if it is an medical emergency or your having health problems that you really do need them. But cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance at all.

how much would a dental xray be without insurance?

I just turned 18, and don't have health insurance, and I think I have two jaw abscesses and I need to get an x-ray. I just don't want to spend my whole life paying it off!
--------------------
It depends on what type of X-ray and where you live. Ours are only $20 for a pa(which is the kind they'll take if you just have a toothache to see the root of the tooth.) If they need a big panoramic film, they run about $100 depending on where you live again. Most importantly is don't put it off. If your tooth is hurting that means you have an infection. Call your dentist and tell them you have a toothache and ask how much it is for an exam and xray. Hope you feel better soon!

my employer has been taking deductions for dental insurance, but when i went to use the insurance i found it?

had been cancelled more than 9 months ago, yet they have still been collecting from me. is this fraud? what do i do? they are acting like they are just going to reinstate it and pay the backed insurance. i had rather just have my money back. any ideas??
--------------------
Well, it doesn't work that way, they can't "reinstate" the policy. Legally, there are two options - either THEY pay whatever the insurance would have paid, for your treatment, OR, they can fully refund the money they've taken out. Unfortunately, in order to push the issue, you'll likely need an attorney, and if you hire one, they'll probably find a reason to fire you. On the bright side, something like this is a sign that they're goind under, and you're going to be looking for another job, anyway.

In Muskegon and don't have dental insurance?

I live in Muskegon, Michigan and I don't have dental insurance and cannot afford much (I'm a full time college student). Are there any dental facilities in Muskegon that will help low income people like me who do not have insurance? I need to have four impacted wisdom teeth removed. They are very painful. Please help.
--------------------
Hello. You can apply for medical or dental assistance from your local Family Independence Agency. They should be listed in the white pages of your phone book. We are from Traverse City, and have many charity groups/churches who help individuals and families. I am sure there are similiar groups in Muskegon. Good luck! I am having my wisdom teeth removed this Friday. Wish me luck. Charlie and Michelle.

I have dental insurance but the co-pays are more than I can afford Any help out there?

I live in W.Michigan
--------------------
My friend found herself in a situation-she left her husband, and has four kids. they all needed to go to the dentist, and her deadbeat husband stopped supporting them. She found a clinic in a dental school, and took her kids to that--the rates are reduced, because dental students are working on you, under the supervision of a licensed teaching dentist. If that doesn't work for you, find a dentist who will accept a payment plan-but they may charge you interest. Good luck and good health!
