When should I add my new baby to my dental insurance plan?

I add her to my health insurance within 30 days of her birth. (She's due September 2nd). The next "open enrollment" (when I can add her to dental) will be January 2009. Should I add her then, since that will cover the year she turns one, or wait till the following January?

My dentist and Pediatrician both told me that they can go start going to the dentist at 3 yrs unless you have a concern before then.

What are some tips for first time dental insurance buyers to avoid rip offs and scams?

never having bought dental insurance before can be scary, anyone have any tips to avoid misunderstandings, and high costs, and things like this ? Corporations clearly can trick people to get into their pocket books big time, so what are some things to look out for and avoid when you have never bought dental insurance before? (In California if it matters)
--------------------
I understand your situation and must say that you do have to be careful. Here are three tips for you: 1. Check to see if the plan has a maximum cap on the amount of coverage it will give you. 2. Check to see if it allows you to go to the dentist of your choice. 3. Check the waiting period before you can access the plan. I hope this helps.

Buy from a reputable insurance company. The plans through the Blue Crosses I believe are or were Delta dental. Give them a shot. John K, stop looking at my paper!

Why is the co-pay for dental insurance more expensive than health insurance?

I compared the co pays on several reputable dental insurance companies and it is very expensive. Many things are not covered, even with the best dental insurance. Health insurance is usually a 10 dollar co pay for primary physicians and a 35-50 dollar co pay for specialty physicians. Is there any reason why dental insurance co pay is as expensive as it is?

Dental insurance?

Does anyone know of a dental insurance in the u.s that covers dental implant surgery as well as bone grafting? Aug 1 I am having bone graft surgery and they want the money upfront before the procedure, i don't see how I am going to be able to pay for this in such a short amount of time. And financing is not an option because they cahrge you 11.9% which in the end will increase the cost of my periodontic treatment. My treatment's estimated cost is $9000+ Will my orthodontist be willing to help out because when i was younger they pulled an 'extra babytooth' around the area that my tooth is missing, and if i pull out my dental records and see that they made a mistake, would they be willing to help out or could this be a lawsuit?
--------------------
You might want to try a discount dental plan. I am not sure if they cover the type of dental work you need done, but it doesn't hurt to try. For more information on dental plans you can check out the site below

I chipped my front tooth a couple months ago on the side of it, and recently its been hurting really bad, im scared of the dentist but i know i have to get it fixed..i have medical through western dental, if i make an emergency apt they will just pull it, but the only other apt they have is in feb, i want to get a cap on there or soemthing, will my insurance cover it..im in sacramento, cali
--------------------
You must have an HMO plan wich really sucks, that's why they won't see you soon. Like the previous dr. answered , they must see you as an emergency and they MUST take you out of pain. It's hard to tell what treatment you need with the info you wrote, but make SURE they give you ALL your options before doing any treatment. It's hard to get good treatment and attention @ western dental, specially if you have an HMO plan.

im 17 i havent been to the dentist in like 10 years i had a very bad experience but now my teeth are crooked but i dont have dental insurance but im turning 18 in two months and im getting my inheritance money and was wondering do i need insurance to go to the dentist or can i just pay cash?
--------------------
Heck yeah, we will take your cash!!!!!!!!!! We like that better than insurance. No red tape. But seriously, the people who are telling you to wait for insurance and that you will pay less in the long run with insurance, or that you will be spending the insurances money, don't know much about dental insurance. They usually have waiting periods, maximums, and only pay a percentage of your dental work. Actually, you pay for it, because they pay with the premiums you paid them.

Do any one know ant thing on Dental Insurance Coverage in the Middle East?
--------------------
No they dont really have such a thing, its better to pay in cash as the medical aids they have there are not very good, unless you take something out for a hospital plan.

dental insurance?

what does basic&major restorative include in dental insurance?
--------------------
Basic includes things like fillings and usually root canals. Major restorative is crowns and bridges. The two groups may have different coverage...such as 80% Basic, 50%Major. This means the ins co will pay that percentage of "usual and customary" fees. (They determine this from info gathered by many dentists in the region.) Your human resources dept should be able to send you a book listing what each group includes. Otherwise call the 800 # on the back of the card.

I'm enrolled in school for January 08 but I turn 20 on dec 7......I'm still on my parents insurance and I have about 9 more teeth to fill...............will I still be on their insurance after I turn 20 or will they company take my off. They both have delta dental.
--------------------
Are you a full time student? Usually, as long as you're a full time student you can stay on your parents' insurance as long as you can prove your full time status. Usually the insurance company sends you a form that you have to take to your school to get filled out. There is an age limit, though... I believe you can only stay on their insurance as a full time student up until you're 25... it differs from state to state and it depends on what insurance company they have (Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, etc.).

Dental insurance..?

Hi, i am a student so i do not have much money. I am living in Melbourne, Australia. I would like to know if there is an affordable health insurance that cover dental needs. I need to remove my 4 wisdow teeth and also i would like to put some braces...but i can not aford it. Would an insurance be worth in this case?
--------------------
Some colleges offer medical/dental insurance for their students... start there. Also, if your parents have insurance and you're a full time student, you should be covered up until the age of 23.... If you need major work, such as braces, it would be worth it to have dental insurance since the fee is so high... *not sure if the above applies to Australia.. I'm in the US* :)

My stepdaughter in the future may need to have braces.........I need to know of any good dental insurance I can purchase that would help pay on these and other dental work........thanks in advance
--------------------
Dental Insurance will only cover certain things with limits, deductibles, claims, qualifications, health check, Some require 6-12 months before usage and a high monthly payment. Not that there is nothing wrong with having them, but there is alot of limits of what is covered and what is not. I have Insurance and also great dental plan from www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up with them online about 3 years ago. They have saved me alot money for all my dentistry work, without claims forms, age limits, no deductibles, no paperwork, no contracts and no waiting period. They have benefits for all services including braces and orthodontic treatment. I never used it for that reason, but I know they cover it. I used them for extractions, root canals, cleanings, exams etc. I have used my regular insurance for minor things since there is limit of coverage, and then use my Dental plan for the rest. They had my benefits active in 2 hours and it only cost me pennys on the dollar. Hope this helps and Good Luck

Does anyone know how to obrtain affordable dental insurance for a family of 6? I tried to go to an insurance finder online, and the deductibles they were showing were rediculous.
--------------------
We go through Delta Dental. They're great and I highly recommend them. The post above is NOT insurance and they will rip you off.

Dental insurance?

Will dental insurance cover the fixing of a gap between the two front teeth? For example, will procedures such as dental binding be covered?
--------------------
The true answer is that it should not be. But as a practical matter insurance companies don't ask if a filling is done purely for cosmetic purposes (in which it isn't covered). You should discuss this with your own dentist for the office policy though. Steve Bornfeld, DDS

Dental insurance?

Oh hey Gang, Is there dental insurance that can be purchased inexpensively if the employer doesn't offer it? Is it worth it or should I just pay out of pocket? thanks! -B

Sure there is, but you do end up paying more for the insurance, copays and deductibles than you would if you paid out of pocket.

dental insurance?

how does it make sense that the dental coverage is much less than the cost of insurance it covers. I am thinking of quitting it and then how much will I lose out
--------------------
WELL FOR ONE THING YOU PAY ABOUT $30 A MONTH OUT OF YOUR PAY CHECK...RIGHT...OKAY NOW YOU HAVE A DEDUCTIBLE....ON ANY BASIS SERVICE....SO NOW AN OTHER $50 BUCKS PLUS 20% OF THE BASIC TREATMENT AND IF YOU HAVE MAJOR WORK YOU HAVE TO PAY 50% ALL IN ALL , YOU WILL PAY ABOUT $2500 A YEAR OUT OF POCKET COAST PLUS AN ADDITIONAL $500 BUCK FOR YOUR INS. AND THEY SHOULD COVER ABOUT $1000. RIGHT THATS IF YOU DON'T HAVE A WAITING PERIOD. I WORK IN A DENTAL OFFICE AN A LOT PT'S USE THIS COMPANY CALLED CARE CREDIT. ITS COOL BECAUSE YOU CAN PAY FOR LIKE $2,000. AND MAKE PAYMENTS LIKE $55 BUCKS A MONTH. AND THEY HAVE A NO INTEREST PLANS. AND ITS A TAX WRIGHT OFF!!

there's so many, could someone guide me to a dental insurace for individuals in Maryland or West Virginia? I'd like it if you had personal knowledge of the company, I think it stinks Denny's rest. doesn't have insurance considering we're just waitresses we could use the discount the managers get!
--------------------
Hi! Here is a link to a fantastic dental plan that is NOT a discount plan, but a fully comprehensive one with no waiting periods and freeddom to choose any dentist. it is very affordable but it is not available in Maryland. it IS available in West Virginia though. You can get more info, as well as apply online if you wish, at http://www.BestForLessDental.com I too think it is ridiculous that restaurants don't treat their servers as well as their managers. I have been both a server and a manager, and I know for a fact my job was WAY harder before I went into management.

How do I get Dental Insurance? I live in Florida.

www.BestForLessDental.com Freedom to choose any dentist, no waiting periods, and a one time $100 deductible you only have to meet once, not every year. I have this plan myself and it is fabulous. You can even apply right online, and it is a comprehensive insurance plan, not a discount plan. Best of luck to you!
