suing a dental doctor. can we win?

We go to this dental place and currently we are suing them for fraud and bad injuries. They took money from our insurance company twice and claim that they didn't when we have the evidence. We are wondering if this can help us win our case. We spend so much money and I'm getting side effects which can lead to cancer (the doctor told us). If we told the insurance company, what would they do? can this help us with our case? is there any cheap lawyers that could help us because we don't have that much money. ? this isn't a simple tooth care it's a really big.... the doctor told us that it could lead to cancer and it's a problem because i live in america with 2 daughters and my husband is in different country. thank you and please help
--------------------
I can't imagine what a dentist would do that would lead to cancer. YOu would have to give more information on that but as far as the insurance fraud... you won't get money from that but your insurer would certainly like to know so they can do a fraud investigation.

dental insurance, any ideas?

Ok so i recently found out my policy was cancelled and i can't reinstate it at all. I do not want a dental discount plan per the fact it seems like a scam, ive read the things about going to dental schools, paying the doc on a payment plan, but aren't there any legitmate insurances for dental insurance in ny? Im willing to pay the premium or whatever so why is it so hard to find anything
--------------------
Delta IS a good plan, but not available for individuals. Think of it from the insurance company point of view: if they cover a large group, chances are only a limited number of people will use the plan and they will take in more money than they will pay out. If an individual wants dental insurance, it's because they already KNOW they are going to use it. Thus, they can't possibly charge more in premiums than they pay out to a dental office. There's no way to make money on individual dental insurance. You could not, for example, go to a car insurance company and say, "I need auto insurance because I plan to total my car this year." You are right to stay away from "discount dental plans." They are unregulated internet/home based businesses and if something goes wrong, you will be out of luck.

NH dental insurance help?

I'm wondering if i can apply for free dental in NH, I'm currently 18 and have been living on my own for 8 months. my parents cant really afford to buy dental insurance and their income was a bit to high to receive free dental. i really need to find some sort of help, i was supposed to get my wisdom teeth pulled about 8 months ago but couldn't afford the dental, and ibuprofen isnt helping the pain anymore
--------------------
Medical Discount Plan ideal for those who cannot afford or qualify for traditional health insurance. The companies offer discounted health services for a quite low monthly fee. Benefits include a range of discounts for doctors, hospitals, dental, vision, prescriptions, vitamins, as well as other health services. Individual & Family Health Plans This is a major health insurance plan for individuals and families. If you are looking for comprehensive long term health insurance coverage for yourself and/or your family members who are 62 years old or younger - this is the plan to choose. Short Term Medical Plans This plan is ideal for individuals in transition. Maybe you have just graduated from college and are no longer covered under your student health insurance or you moved out on your own, and you're no longer covered under your parents' medical insurance plan. Or perhaps you're employed part-time, going to school, leaving home for the first time, or even retiring early. Maybe you've found a new job, but your new employer's group health insurance plan won't kick in until you've been with months.

Dental Practice?

So in december i had a root canal and i had a crown put on to fill that space. this cost well needless to say alot of money but thankfully my insurance paid for it all. A few days after i got the premanent crown it fell of. i wasnt eating one of the items the doctor prohibited me from or anything. the damn thing just pops off. i lost the crown and now they want me to pay out of pocket for another one (since my insurance will only cover the cost of the crown once on the same tooth). The dentist refuses to give me anything off the crown or even to just do the procedure for free (with me paying only for the crown) I think this is grossly unfair because it was the detist fault that the crown was not properly attched. what would have happended if i actually swalloed the thing when i was asleep? Anyhow what recourse can i take against this dental practice?
--------------------
The dentist should make good on it. Contact your dental insurance co first as they are the ones who paid for it. They can put pressure on your dentist.

Dental claim Question?

My company was bought out in May 2007. My insurance provider before we were bought out was Delta. Under the new care, we have Aetna, and basically thrown into a dental plan as a hew hire.(Technally weren't new hire's though). So, in early November, I had oral surgery done. My Dentist wants over $1100. I was under the impression that my insurance would cover it. WOW. Was I wrong. Apparently I have to be with Aetna for a year, before having major work done. NOBODY Informed me of this. I have the documentation that I was given, and nowhere does it state must wait a year. Can you give me any suggegtions/advice for when I submit my claim letter. I really don't feel like I should have to pay. Thanks in advance ;)
--------------------
Interesting. You can write an appeal letter. It never hurts. If you've gotten your EOB, and I'm assuming you have, you'll need to reference the claim number, date of service and all that. Include that along with a copy of your insurance handbook. I'd word it something like this: Dear Appeals Department; I'd like to appeal the decision not to pay my claim for oral surgery on November 2nd, 2007. (See attached explaination of benefits.) The reason stated for denial is "insured must be with Aetna for 1 year prior to major work being done." However, as you can see in the enclosed copy of my handbook, that rule is not listed and I was not made aware of it prior to the date of service. Please reconsider this denial. Sincerely; Me Patient ID 123456 They will have to respond to you. If you haven't already, contact Aetna to get the correct address for the appeal. Also, ask your dentist to do the same. Perhaps he could give you a narrative as to why the work was done and why it was important that you didn't wait until 5/08. Good luck!

Inflammation in my joints but in a month wont have insurance?

Inflammation in my joints but in a month I wont have insurance? Okay, Im 21, and as of Jan 1 I wont be on my parents insurance any longer, because I wont be in school anymore. My boyfriend and I got our own apartment because he has a great job so we moved out of our parents houses and closer to his work. He has insurance now, and now I wont. Anyways, for a few months I've been having extreme joint and muscle pain and I went to the rheumatolgist and he told me I have carpal tunnel in both wrists and I have been in so much pain with it I can barely sleep at night or do housework. Anyways, I also have pain in my legs and feet as well so they did bloodwork. I talked to him yesterday and he told me that I have inflammation and is prescribing me anti inflammatory medicine. He wants to re-do the bloodwork in 6 weeks with a bone scan...but by then I wont have insurance...what do i do???? PS- I know I need to get a job to get insurance, which ive been trying to do since august since i graduated dental assisting school and ive been trying to get a job since then but everywhere wants someone with more experience, so i might go to a phlebotomy training workshop in janaury. I have been looking like crazy tho for a job that offers insurance. And usually you have to wait like 3-6 months after working anyway. Thanks for everyones answers!
--------------------
Try to get your doctor to run as many tests as he can now, let him know you insurance runs out soon. The worst part is your carpal tunnel and joint problems may be considered previous conditions that your new insurance won't cover.

Talking Dental Hygienist Secret questions?

an you please answer these question for me 1@ why dental hygienist are hated by dentist and said they are over paid? 2@ why DH are not getting overtime hours or even full time? 3@ why DH does not have benefit, insurance.sick days and other things? 4@ why DH does not ask for cash money since most of them get part-time work? 5@why DH have to work for private dentists.are not there any public hospitals.are not DH in demand? 6@ can really a dental assistance do the DH job? if that is true.why the dentist is wasting money on DH? 7@why most dentists don't admit that they need hygienist.I mean if I'm a dentist and I don't hire A hygienes than I have to do their work and I will not have time to do root canal,molar.braces.filing and other things.what kind of business is that and don't you think that dental assistance is not licensed to do H\DH works, you can be sued for that and have a suspended license. Finally: I'm a male who is trying to be DH.I think DH should be treated equally,I feel like they are discriminated and used by man's power,so all Dh Have to develop some sort of strategy.Like a union or something that protects them from dentist.I may do that in the future if I became One..I try to lead women to path of success.this is just a personal opinion.no OFFEND TO ANY DENTIST OR ORTHODONTIC WHATSOEVER AND PLEASE KINDLY ANSWER MY QUESTIONS.
--------------------
Being a dental hygienist is very much like being a nurse. You must work under a doctor's supervision. However, there are no hygienist unions. There are professional organizations such as the ADHA who lobby for changes in the Dental Law and such things. Your questions: Dentists don't hate hygienist. Every dentist I have worked for has appreciated having a hygienist to do thier cleanings. Hygienists often work full time, although many dentists don't work a 40 hour work week. Full Time Hygienists do get full time benefits. My company provieds health insurance, dental insurance, sick days, personal days, vacation days and an optional 401 K. I dont understand cash money? Hospitals employ dental hygienists if they have a dental clinic. No an assistant can not by law clean teeth If a dentist doesnt want a hygienist, he or she probably doesnt have the client load to support one. Why not be a DH if you are male? We aren't discriminated against truely! We choose to be a hygienist, not a dentist. YOu need alot more schooling and$$$ to be a dentist. If I wanted equality with a dentist, I would have gone to dental school. In 25 years Ive always been respected and treated fairly by the professionals that have hired me. I would recommend that you look into some dental hygiene programs. They will provide you with all the info you need before chosing this career path.

Mini implant for lower left molar?

One more dental question. I have a missing lower left molar as per picture opposite to the red circled tooth. I had it extracted when I was very poor and couldn't afford root canal treatment years ago :-( http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/leegolding/Teeth.jpg I understand that a mini implant is the best method to replace the gap. I am not exactly well off and wondered if a mini implant is the cheapest method and would I be better off taking out dental insurance to cut cost? Any other ways to reduce the cost of this procedure? Thanks, Lee.
--------------------
A mini implant is not meant to be a permanant replacement. They are usually cheaper than a normal implant, but last only about 1/4 of the time. If this is a molar, then I certainly wouldn't get a mini implant placed there, as that is too much pressure on a mini and it will never hold up over time. Eventually you will loose it. Dental insurances usually don't cover the cost of implants, so that wouldn't help you out. Unless you go to a dental school or get into some type of university study, I really don't know how you can reduce the cost of this procedure.

how much would a full dental implant procedure cost?

How much would a full dental implant procedure cost? its for 30 teeth idk if everybody has the same amount of teeth but there's 30 of them in my husbands mouth who wants them i was also wondering if anyone knew if badger care or forward health care would cover some of the cost if there is serious tooth decay on 8 teeth to where the tooth is only held on by a small piece of the tooth the rest is decayed into the gum and down to about the middle of the tooth and pieces of his teeth fall off occasionally and lots of small cavities on most of the others his teeth are very nasty looking and needs to be fixed before he gets Periodontal disease he didn't take care of his teeth before we were married and the decay was there but was not noticeable at the time but it is now painful for him to even brush his teeth even with the expensive sensitive tooth paste he is a heavy mountain dew drinker and refuses to give it up even if it kills him and he reuses to see a dentist because he don't want a dentist to pick at his teeth unless its to pull them out for the implant because his teeth hurt him so much so i would really like an estimate on a full dental implant procedure and if you know if my forward/badger state heath insurance would help with some of the cost
--------------------
Seriously look into making a vacation out of it.. Some go to Costa Rica, but prices are going up there as well.. Try it though, or Panama or Vietnam.. I would recommend it..!! In CR they are doing this for foreigners a lot http://www.dentalimplantcr.com/ This is just one, there are many you can ask estimates at.. And it is a very nice place to visit.. this one is probably on the expensive side for CR with their English website and all.. Love

Is this insurance fraud?

I recently had my wisdom teeth removed and I'm covered through my works dental and medical, and my dad's dental and medical. After the first 3 (all but my dad's dental) payed i got a bill stating i owed 340. the company who removed my wisdom teeth sent me a check for 375$ (the down payment I had to make) recently, after the last one went through. I looked at the bill and saw that I should have gotten more back as I owed 340 before the final dental went through, the final dental payed 800. 340+375=715, so what happened to the other 85? Well when I called up the company they said my bill was a different amount and that they'd send over the revised bill to me. Thing is they revised the bill after they saw how much my insurance paid. How is this legal? I live in Minnesota btw.
--------------------
It's not legal, go get yourself an attorney, and have him write a letter to get your 85.00$ back - he'll only charge 125$ for the letter.

Unforseen Dental Charges.. How can I deal with an unethical dentist:? ?

Long story short. I had an oral surgery consult back in July. I scheduled my oral surgery in August. I was told at that time I had a co pay of $115 for my extraction. Today I got a bill from this oral surgeon.... more than 6 weeks later. Showing I owe $300+ dollars that my insurance didn't cover.. I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS! I FEEL THAT THE DENTAL OFFICE WAS VERY DISHONEST AND THAT NOW I AM STUCK WITH A HUGE UNFORSEEN BILL. ADVICE ON HOW TO FIGHT THIS??
--------------------
Your not going to like this answer, but technically it is YOUR responsibility to see how much, if any, your insurance will pay. The oral surgeon's office probably assumed you already knew you'd have to pay. I wouldn't fight the oral surgeon's office, I'd contact your insurance office. EDITED TO ADD: Co-pays are NOT final bills. It is very common and not unethical at all to charge a co-pay fee, and STILL end up owning a portion of the bill.

i want toge braces and i have small gaps in my teeth probably about 3-4mm how long would i have to wear them.?

i want braces and i have small gaps probably about 3-4mm and i wanted to know how long would i have it on 1-10 wats the pain intensity and how much would it cost im 15 with dental insurance
--------------------
Its not a pain it's an 'ache' which is annoying but pain killers help just eat soft or liquid foods. Most people have them on for about 1 1/2-2 years. I don't think dental insurance covers braces... Plus if your 15 you'll have them longer than someone younger cause your growth is slowing but it'll still be fast cause your still growing.
