My mom has social security as her sole support. She is 64 and has no Medical or Dental insurance coverage. After rent, utilities and grocerys she does not have much left. She really needs to see a doctor because of arthritis pain and her diabetes. She really needs to see a dentist because she has many missing teeth and is in bad need of dentures. I am not in a financial position to help her. I need to find her free or low cost care. Any suggestions?

How can she be on Social Security and not have Medicare? There is no free dental care. The dental clinics that were popular in the 90's were overwhelmed and most have opted to treat only children now. All they ever did was pull teeth out anyway. So there's no free care. Have you looked into your local county and state dental society or your nearest local dental school? They will offer reduced fees but not by too much. Most require payment up front and there are huge waiting lists. Sorry. Because of the economy it's just a bad time all around.

Can you claim out-of-pocket dental expenses when filing your taxes?
I live in MN and though I have dental insurance, it didn't cover all the work I had done this last year. Can I get an old invoice from the dentist's office and claim them???

If you itemize deductions you can claim medical payments above and beyond 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. For example if your adjusted gross income is $30,000, 7.5% of that is $2,250.00. Your medical expenses are $3,000.00. You can claim the difference of the two, which is $750.00. If your medical expenses are under this 7.5%, you can't claim any of them. I hope this makes sense. How is a patient who has secondary insurance billed?
I need to know how to bill a patient who has both primary and secondary dental insurance. Is the patient's co-pay limited to the primary carrier's contracted amount or, because of the secondary, would they owe the full doctor's fee? If the secondary carrier's payment doesn't fully cover the patient's co-pay portion, what amount is the patient then responsible for? If the provider is bound to the primary carrier's contracted fee, regardless of what the secondary allows, does any remaining charge exceeding that contratced amount get written off? If the patient has deductibles on both plans, do they owe both deductibles? If I have left out any relevant questions, any and all pertinent information would be most helpful. Thank you.

I am a family of four and need medical and dental insurance. My friend Stphani has no heath or dental insurance and has to get 4 wisdom teeth removed?
She woke up in pain the other day with her mouth bleeding and had to go to a dentist and pay outright for the appointment and the x-rays. She has in infection behind one another one has a cyst behind it and the third is growing in sideways and crowding her bottom teeth. She called Medicare and Medicaid none will cover her because she isn't pregnant, doesn't have kids, isn't a child, and isn't disabled. This needs to be an immediate surgery and the pain keeps getting worse for her every day. We live in southern Florida she said she called a couple dental colleges, none will deal with wisdom teeth. I have a broken tooth and no dental insurance, nobody will take the tooth out without down payment,! HELP!?

According to Ohio law, until the age of 28, I should be on all of her health insurance, including dental. how much would it cost to have a dental abscess treated without insurance?
i fear i have a dental abscess. ive been suffering thru an infection and tho the pains more manageable thanks to the penicillin VK ive been taken, i feel its advanced.. i now have swelling and tenderness, and ive been suffering from loss of appetite and having difficulty keeping foods down. (pepto has become a godsend) all my symptoms point to a dental abscess in my upper jaw. including the slight swelling of the lymph node and difficulty swalowing, something i never had problem doing im making an emergency appointment don't get me wrong, but the MAIN problem is that i have NO dental insurance. so how much would abscess treatment cost? can i get it treated while put to sleep? if so how much would the anesthesia cost? i have a VERY low threshold for pain. (it takes usually 3xs the Novocaine to get a filling taken care of)

Can you get invisible braces with dental insurance?
A couple years ago the dentist recommended braces but my mom and I said no....I know someday they will again but i just want to know that if you can get invisible braces or retainers with your dental insurance. Please tell this...how much do you have to pay for an appointment an the dentist? Does it hurt a lot with invisible braces when they put them on or with the retainer fittings? I Don't have any dental insurance and I have a sever abscess on a tooth that needs a root canal retreat ?
plus I've just had a foot surgery were they placed titanium implants in my foot, and the dentist said I need to have the abscess clear up soon or it can spread to the titanium ?? WTF?? I had Washington Dental, here in California and it wasn't much; I used it all up on another root-canal and cleaning, and a couple fillings, it was like $1500. So now that's over and I need two root canal retreats, and two other root canals, and caps for the teeth which are not cheap, and I don't get approved for dental credit when I've applied recently and no one I know will co-sign for me ? I'm so scared, I just had foot surgery so I am on State Disability because I can not return to work yet, I usually have jobs where I stand all day and I cannot do that anymore, I want to go back to school so I can get a better job but right now I am so broke and my medical insurance won't pay for physical therapy to help me walk normally and without pain again. So all my money goes to paying out of pocket medical bills. I also have other health problems and I don't know what to do?? Any Suggestions would be helpful . Thanks ?
