What are some low-income health insurance companies?

I am a 21 year old female residing in Ohio, and am looking for some health insurance, including dental if possible. What are some options that won't cost a whole lot for my minimum wage budget?
--------------------
Health insurance is different from dental. The premiums aren't based on your income - except welfare insurance - Medicaid and Medicare. You would do a search for "ohio medicaid" to get the website, and see if your income is low enough to qualify. A regular health policy for you, with a low deductible, is GOING to cost $200 a month. If you want to take a high deductible, like $4,000, you can probably cut that in half - but YOU pay the first $4,000 of any medical bills. Dental, well, I haven't seen a private dental policy that pays out more than it costs. So run the numbers befor you buy one.

What is the purpose of dental x-rays?

I have no dental insurance and unless the x-rays serve a very important purpose, I'd rather not pay for them.
--------------------
We look for lots of stuff on x-rays. First, cavities between teeth and sometimes in the chewing surfaces of teeth. We also check the bone level for signs of gum disease. Position of impacted wisdom teeth. Also more obscure things like internal/external resorption even cancer. Sometimes we can pick up systemic diseases like diabetes, histiocytosis X and scleraderma. They are important, but I still feel like many dentists take them way too much. The need for xrays should be individual. Someone with no fillings or gum disease, I take them every 2-3 yrs (sometimes more). someone with a history of a lot of cavities, I take them every year and a half to 2 yrs. Someone with uncontrolled cavity problem, every year. Hope this helps.

That is all fine, kids still eat, grow and need new clothes. All of these things are very hard for one person to provide.

Where should I go in a dental emergency?

I went to a dental clinic last week but they said my insurance do not cover dental treatment. So now what should I do? should I go to hospital or..can you give me some advice, please. thank you so much.
--------------------
Alot of dentists will do payment plans. Also alot of dentists are not too expensive. I would say there are a ton of people without dental insurance out there and the dental industry recognizes that and tries to accomodate. My daughter had to have an exam and a tooth pulled before she had insurance and it was only 160 in CA. oh yeah if you look up dental schools such as Western they will do alot of dental procedures for free under the guidance of a professional dentist.

dental work with no insurance?

i NEED like 4fillings and one pulled. but i have no insurance..what will this cost me out of pocket??
--------------------
That depends on the Dr and the area you live in. See if there is a dental school near by you can usually save over 1/2 by having a student do the work and they usually take payments as well as most credit cards. Good Luck!

Are there any dentists with reasonable dental rates in the Colorado Springs area?

Does anyone know of dentists that don't over charge for dental work for someone without dental insurance in southern Colorado?
--------------------
I would suggest looking near where you live. Also, I used to do medical billing and coding and if you contact a dental office and explain that you would be a cash patient, they may discount your rates. They will most likely do this because 1) they don't need to verify benefits which takes a TON of time, 2) they won't need to be held to the contract they would ahve with an insurance provider to charge and write-off a certain amount (medical offices that are in-network with a certain provider are required to charge the amounts by the insurance company) and 3) they don't have to file a claim which saves them a ton of time! I loved Dr. Hickenlooper and he used to be on Briargate and Rangewood in the American National Bank building. He was always reasonable and willing to work with you.

Is there a federal law that children must be allowed to have dental services done in an outpatient facility?

Trying to find out if insurance carrier can deny dental services for a child in an outpatient hospital setting simply based on anxiety or fear. Does the child have to have a mental disorder/physical handicap etc? Is there an age limit? Does it have to be for oral surgery only or would simple cleanings or fillings be enough?
--------------------
There's no federal law which mandates this service. Actually, there are very few ERISA laws that mandate specific benefits that must be included in policies offered via an employer. The good news is that, if your benefit plan is fully-insured, it's governed under state insurance law, not federal law. Call your state insurance commissioner's office for a definitive answer to your question (if you work in another state, call that state's insurance commission). Some states DO have laws mandating this type of service be covered; my state is one of them.

Serious Dental Issue / No insurance.?

Part of the roof of my mouth is swollen, raw, and painful. On top of that, my gums bleed when I brush my teeth (and sometimes they just bleed during the day.) Problem is, I don't have any insurance until the middle of June. I know that wasn't phrased as a question, but I'd love any advice or comments you guys might have.

Would I still be covered under my parents Insurance?

I know I need to be a full time student to be covered under my parents insurance (medical and dental). This semester I was a full time student, but I had to drop a class because it was too hard. So now I only have 9 hours instead of 12. Will I still be covered? Or will the Insurace drop me.
--------------------
If your college considers 9 hours to be full-time, then you're fine. If not, they may drop you, but they probably won't find out about it until next fall when they certify whether you are still a student. I'm not 100% sure about that though, so be careful.

How much does health insurance cost?

I have no clue about health insurance from employers. I've never had to deal with it and now I do. My husbands job said they have a national PPO. I have no idea what that means. My husband will be grossing around 2800 a month, if that helps. Can someone tell me how much to expect will be taken out each pay check for insurance on 2? (dental, vision and medical coverage)
--------------------
How much is taken out of each paycheck depends on the employer, the insurance provider, and the deals they've worked out. Sometimes the coverage doesn't cost anything for the employed person, sometimes it does. It just depends. Your husband can find out through his work, usually through HR or the benefits administrator. Read this for general information on PPOs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preferred_p…

Currently paying for braces no insurance?

If I get dental insurance could I use it to pay the remaining amount of money I have toward the bill? Or is it to late? Also if it is possible what dental insurance should I go with or orphadontist insurance if it makes a difference
--------------------
I'm guessing your braces won't be covered...pre-existing thing. As for insurance, I would just make a few calls to agencies that carry it, they could best advise you on that.

can one person have two dental insurances both being united concordia and use both of them?

My daughter has united concordia insurance with her step father and real father. Can they both be used twords her braces?
--------------------
The above answers are good and I would only add this: Since the relationship is father and step-father, you will need to know which plan is primary and which is secondary. If it were a simple "mom & dad" arrangement, the person with the earlier birthday in the year would be primary. But in this non-traditional family other factors come into consideration, such as family court orders. Once you find out who is primary, ask about the secondary's "coordination of benefits". They should be either "standard/full" or "non-duplicaton". Since both plans are with the same company, they shold be able to explain everything to you completely. It's a tricky situation, so make sure you know everything before you start. The very best way would be to ask your dentist or orthodontist to pre-authorize the treatment. It takes about 30 to 45 days, but at least you would know what the braces will end up costing YOU.

What's the best health insurance, blue cross?

I'm 23 yrs old and I'm just seaching for a good health insurance plan for dental and medical, specifically for dental though and please don't give me united health insurance, I rather have something else.
--------------------
Here's a few thoughts on finding what you're looking for: 1. Go to www.nahu.org and find a local agent. NAHU is the professional association for agents (like me) who "specialize" in health insurance coverage. 2. Go to www.genesis-grp.com (my site) and get your own "set" of health insurance quotes from a wide variety of companies and plans. Or, do an online search for "health insurance quotes AND ," then get some quotes to review. 3. Stick with "name brand" companies like Blue Cross, Aetna, Humana, etc. There are a lot of other plans out there that look good & have good prices, but "you don't get something for nothing." Stick with the big companies. As far as which insurance company is the best, that depends, of course, on who you ask, what experience they have, what features & benefits are important to you, and so forth. The point, of course, is that the answer is very subjective: some folks hate Blue Cross, some folks love United Healthcare, and vice-versa. Check with your friends & find out who they have & like (or don't like); check with your doctor (if you have one) and see what companies they have, like/prefer, and recommend. Find an agent/broker you like & trust, then ask your questions & pick the one YOU like. Hope this helps a bit... have a swell evening!

I feel SO overwhelmed by the dental work in front of me and the cost, that I am considering suicide. I don't

have a dentist. I don't have dental insurance. I have taken excellent care of my teeth, but a combination of an injury and side effects from medication have made a mess in my mouth and I am in pain and do not know where to turn. I wish I lived in a country where health/dental care was provided for. But I don't have the money or the energy and no dentist will help me. For some reason, the only solution that I seem to come up with is to end my life. Does anyone have any other options?
--------------------
well first of all you have to calm down and you have to go to your doctor and explain to him what you are saying here. i am sure that they will help you to deal with this. i think there are many ways to get out of the problem rather than end up with your life. good luck! one thing more a neighbour who was in the same situation as you are now when to do all his dental needs with university students and got a beautiful teeth for free and i am not joking his teeth are absolutely gorgeous now.

what are some low price health insurance that include dental & medical for a good price under $80-100?

in the state of nevada
--------------------
Dental is always seperate, and I haven't seen any dental plans that pay out more than they cost. For health insurance, you get what you pay for. If you're perfectly healthy, male, 20, for $100 a month, you're looking at a $500 to $1,000 deductible on a decent plan. That means, you pay the first $500 to $1,000 of medical bills, before the insurance kicks in. If you're older, female, or not perfectly healthy (including overweight), it's quite possible that you won't find ANY type of "insurance" for under $80 a month.

Is there a dental finance waiver?

A while ago, I had to go to the emergency room, but I didn't have medical insurance, so the next day, a hospital worker who worked for the administrative assistance program, gave me a call and told me that I was eligible to have my medical expensive waived...And they waived every single penny. So I was wondering, because I don't have dental insurance, but I do have an income, is there a way that they can waive or discount the expenses for dental procedures, or is that only for medical emergencies?
--------------------
It would be up to the dentist, to do that, just like it's up to the hospital to do that. As very, very few dentists get state grants or charity money, it's pretty unlikely that they'd waive or discount the fees. One thing to look into, is to see if you have a local dental school. They offer drastically reduced fees, in exchange for you allowing 8 students to hoover around and watch the procedures.

sorry to say no. I'm on SSDI i receive Medicare & Medicaid and it does not cover dental. Maybe the health department can help! good luck. If i go to the dentist there is no discount for lower income or disabled.

I am wondering if there is any help for dental work out there.?

I have dental insurance but can not afford my part of it. I have four teeth on top and it is unconfortable when I talk to someone or go for a job interview.
--------------------
So you are looking for cosmetic dentistry? No place is going to do that for free and insurance never pays for that. That's an elective procedure....not a necessity. You can try checking into dental schools near you. Some colleges and universities have them. They won't do it for free, but you could get work done at a very low rate.

Please help with health Insurance questions? (Dental)?

Ok, so I have a bit of a complicated situation. I'm going to New York in 4 months when I turn 18 to go to nursing school. I've had this all planned out for about a year now. My fiance already moved out there to get us a place to stay and a car and all that. Well, our plans have been going smoothly so far until today. I had a dentist appointment here in Ohio that my mom took me to and I found out that I have to get braces. Apparently I have to keep them on for a good year. And she said that she's paying for them but that if I get them, I can't move out of state until they are off because I can't change orthodontists. Now I don't know if she's just saying that because she doesn't want me to move out of state or if this is true. I thought that if I got them, then I could move to NY and just get a new orthodontist. She said that I have her health insurance until I am 22. I was just wondering, would I still be able to use her health insurance when I move to NY for my new orthodontist? Am I able to use this insurance out of state? Or should my fiance and I go ahead and marry before I get braces so that his VA insurance would cover it? Or does that insurance even cover it? What should I do? I feel like my mom is giving me the wrong information just because she doesn't want me to move. But if I can't move, that means our plans are ruined, and we'd have wasted all this time and money setting everything up for the move in March. Please help me? :( If you have any more questions or need a little more detail, please just let me know.
--------------------
Your mom may not be giving the correct information. Here is what I would do. Call the customer service number for your mothers insurance and see if they would cover your work if done in New York. As to the VA insurance, your fiance could call them and find out if they have spousal coverage for orthodontics. These are the only ways you will know for sure. And just to be on the safe side, if they say they will provide coverage, make sure you get something in writing. Good luck to you Confused.

Why does the dental clinic requesting my SSN when they can just use my insurance ID #?

I went to a new dental clinic which I have never been to. I was kinda cautious of giving out my ssn # to anyone I don't know since not long ago, my credit card issuer former employee stole all card holders info. Therefore, I told the dental clinic just use my insurance ID# on their database for, but the dumb woman told me she needs my ssn in order to setup the file for me, and then I insist not to give her and she then told me she can use the insurance id#....what's going on here?
--------------------
There are ALL sorts of reasons WHY NOT to give out your SSN to just anybody who asks, you do NOT NEED to give your SSN to your dentist, they can always refuse to treat you, but you can find dentist who WILL. My dentist does not require my SSN and they get paid by the insurance that my employer provides. There is NO need for your dentist to have that number!
