Whats considered to better in Illinois, a paraprofessional or a substitute teacher?

I just graduated from college, in, well, a bad economy. To help pay back my student loans I'm signing up to either become a substitute teacher or a paraprofessional (special aids assistant.) I've heard both have their benefits, but I'm not quite sure which is better. I'd also like to add, that I'm applying in Northern Illinois. I'm also applying to more than one school district for substitute teaching to try and obtain work everyday. The average rate is $100 a day for substitutes out here. I'm also working a second job in the evenings and on weekends that have offered to provide me with: medical insurance, dental insurance, and vision insurance. So benefits aren't too much of an issue.
--------------------
Generally - subs seem to have a better foot in the door for future teaching positions. The only exception would be if you were looking specifically for a special ed position. A paraprofessional would be better if you were looking for just a job - it would be less stressful - but if you are looking for a foot in the door; be a sub. It does several things: 1) Lets you become visible to many principals 2) Lets you "show-off" your abilities to work with kids 3) And give you the chance to become a long-term sub. Now...becoming a long-term sub is one of the crappiest jobs; all the responsibilities of a teacher w/o any of the real perks. HOWEVER - last year at my district, about 75% of the "new hires" were either teachers from another area, or long-term subs. My principal just hired the long term sub for a teacher that was on maternity and then decided to take a leave of absence. The sub that was her long-term sub got the full-time job.

where can i come up with alot of money in short time?

i need to come up with 10-20 thousand dollars within the next 2 months. the problem is im a disabled young woman in my 20s.i dont have money and i cannot work because of mobility trouble,i have a hard time walking and major health problems, nothing i can enter a medical trial just mainly a cardiac thing and bone fracture/muscle things and chronic pains. i have about 400 dollars saved up. i do not have a bank account right now. im living for free with my parents while i recuperate which will take a long time probably over a year or more. i get basic stuff like food and basic necessities for free, i do not own a car or any valuable gold or gem jewelery. i need to come up with charity for myself because i have a bad situation.i need to get my entire mouth redone.i have 90% of my teeth decayed and many missing and broken teeth. i look funny when i smile because of the missing teeth and im a young woman not an 8 yr old girl. i should not have missing teeth. i need root canals on 85% of all my teeth, ill need major cosmetic work, bridges, implants, caps, major dental reconstruction. and it has to be done by a good and well knowledged dentist who knows what they are doing. so chances are it will be expensive and the dental work will take like a year to get everything done. if i go to a cheap dentist or a less expensive one chances are they will tell me to have my teeth pulled and have dentures put in... thats not happening- as long as i come up with money i really do not want dentures at my young age. there are cosmetic things that can be done, just most dentists are not willing to do such extensive cosmetic work, or they will tell me to have partial dentures or something. i was told by a few less expensive dentists that they would need to do root canals on all my teeth and pull many teeth.. but i know this is not necessary i did find a dentist or two that are able to save my teeth and do excellent cosmetic densitry to rebuild my teeth, and they said some of my teeth do not need root canals and they are able to create white and perfect matching white teeth that will look real, white caps...not metal ones anyhow so i need to invest in good teeth, just the total amount to have them fixed with be 10's of thousands of dollars. dental insurance dosnt cover this to even get started on a few teeth it will be like 5 thousand dollars the first few visits, to have the bridegs and crowns name and to match my teeth shade so i need to come up with money. i need creative ways. i cannot work or walk very well. i have no family members willing to give me any money. i have no savings or inheritance from anyone. i cant take out a loan right now for another reason what are some ways i can make money i dont want to participate in any medical tests, do not want to give blood or any thing like that,i dont want to do anything illegal such as sell drugs, nothing that would risk my non exhistent criminal record, dignity or anything else how do i make a few thousand dollars if i cant work.i cant get workers compensation because i never had a job and i was a college student when i got injured
--------------------
Apply for SSI if you haven't already it is for disabled adults who haven't worked enough for SSDI. The take up what work you are capable of like perhaps writing books. It won't be fast but you can work on days you feel well enough and don't need to walk to do it. If your body won't work correctly for you make money with your mind. Become an expert in something, maybe teach it. Things people might pay to learn would be playing an instrument, tutoring a hard subject like upper level college math classes, painting pictures, etc. Or do something at home like bookkeeper in the home or tax preparer or medical billings, writing resumes. You may not make thousands quick but you can in the long run earn a few thousand a year. Consider dental school they do discounted work and the students learn while teachers oversee the work so you have top quality care.

I need to see a dentist but I'm not able to?

I am in the lowest tax bracket there is. Its not because I;m lazy And don't work, Workk more than 45 or more hrs a week. I Have 2 kids and am a single mother so money is very tight. My job does not supply any kind of health or dental insurance nor can i afford togo too the dentist. My hrs at work also keep me from being able to wait in line for the free dental clinic that comes to the high school here . Can some one please refer me to a cheap dental plan or free clinic that is anywhere near tennessee
--------------------
Hi, I'm an insurance agent out in California. I am not licensed in your state so please note that I am not trying to sell you insurance or advise you to go with a particular insurance carrier. I couldn't if I tried as I am not a Tennessee agent. Just trying to help out. You may want to check with Blue Cross Blue Shield in Tennessee or any other major insurance carrier. Most have low cost dental plans. These rates came off the BCBS of Tennessee webpage: "Monthly premiums are $26.50 for each adult and $14.60 for each dependent from age 2 through age 17" That might be hard for you, but the kids could get covered possibly. Google "Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee" or "UnitedHealthCare", or "Aetna", etc, get the 800 number, call them and discuss it with them. As you can see, those rates are probably lower than you imagined for dental insurance. See if they have any assistance programs if that is still too much. If that does not work for you, try contacting your state or local health agencies for advice on how to proceed. There are also "discount cards" out there that I have seen on the web. I don't know much about them, so can't really comment. I would tend to go through a reputable insurance carrier however. One thing you may try is calling a couple of local dentists and asking them what their "cash price" is. A lot of dentists (at least in California) have one price for people with insurance and another "cash price" which is lower. See if you can work a deal with a dentist...explain your situation, you may be surprised...there are some very nice dentists who realize things are hard out there and might be intersted in helping by reducing their fee...and getting a family of lifelong clients...things are tough for them too. Best of luck to you. Things will get better...they always do.

Crown lengthening ~ anyone had this done?

Let me start by saying I am a dental COWARD. I think I'm about as bad as can be, just short of avoiding the dentist altogether. One of my teeth broke a few months ago. Yesterday the dentist told me I would need to be referred to a peridontist who could do a crown lengthening - he says I need to have a piece of bone removed so he's better able to fit a crown. Altogether, even WITH dental insurance, this is expected to cost me around $800 or more. SO. My questions are.... 1. How painful is this? 2. Is it worth it? I mean, extractions are FREE on my dental plan, so I kind of wonder if I should just have it pulled. It's the second molar on my bottom left side. 3. How well did it work for you?? 4. Would you do it again?? THANK YOU!!
--------------------
It's not painful at all. They will numb you up the same way the dentist numbs you up for a filling. So besides the injection, you shouldn't feel any pain at all. And if you do, let them know and they will give you more anesthesia. It is definitely worth it. Extractions should be the last resort, if all other treatment has failed and the tooth can't be saved at all. Molar teeth are important for chewing. So if you get that 2nd molar tooth pulled, you won't be able to chew as well on your left side. And the top teeth that usually touch that molar tooth, once that molar is gone, the top tooth will start moving downwards into your mouth and you may eventually lose that tooth too if you don't do something to replace the bottom tooth (like a partial denture or an implant). Teeth stay in place because the top and bottom ones touch each other, and that force maintains them. If one is missing, the opposite one, without any opposing force, will start to move out of the jawbone. I can't stress how important it is to save your teeth if you can. I'm a dentist and I hate when I have to extract teeth that could have otherwise been saved. Hope that helps.

-Is it possible to start a funding to get my teeth fixed?

I had dental insurance on my job until they took it away. I'm currently looking for a supplemental dental plan my employer has supplied but for what I need done, I will have to wait months (my back tooth broke off and now is poking through the sides of my gums-I just want it pulled out). I want to start a fund to help me get my tooth pulled. Is that possible? Will I need permits and things like that? Thanks... oh and I checked the dental.plan com but the dentists in my area don't accept it. Thanks.
--------------------
I don't know but I do know, you can go to Dental Universities where the students will work on you under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. If you don't have enough funds, you can have them do it for free or for a much cheaper price.

Bottom of molar turning black but I brush my teeth... what the heck?

I dont understand. I brush my teeth twice a day. I dont floss like I should but many people dont and dont end up with their tooth decaying. On the other side a piece of my crown and actual tooth broke off but since I had a root canal it doesnt hurt. Im not trashy and brush my teeth. I NEVER drink cokes or other carbonated drinks and my sugar intake is very limited. I only chew sugar-free gum... I dont have dental insurance because I cant afford it and I am so scared to go to a dental school for reduced cost/free dental work because my brother had really bad results. My dad had really bad teeth - is this genetic? Help! Also, is there a way to keep the decay from spreading til I can get in to see a dentist?
--------------------
I'm glad you are not hurting, and you are right, since you had a root canal on that tooth you definately should not have any pain. However, you definately have a cavity. Here's the thing about crowns. There's a small ledge or lip where the crown meets the tooth. Bacteria that cause gum and tooth disease love to cling onto there, and that is a common area for decay. Even though you do not have pain there, the infection is there, and it will spread. Truely, there isn't any way to slow down the decay process once its begun. You could use an over the counter fluoride rinse like ACT for adults to keep your other teeth more resistant to decay. Here's the thing about cavities, once you have the bacteria in your mouth you have it for life. There's no way to sterilize the human mouth. Which brings me to your last question about heredity. The answer is babies are born without the cavity causing bacteria. It is in fact, tranmitted usually from a parent to baby from repetitive exposure from ,for example, tasting baby's food first to check temperature, or kissing baby. Cavities are actually a contagious disease, of which one day there will be a vaccination just like for Chicken Pox. People can be cavity prone if they eat things in high sugar, or acid contents. Also, sometimes has nothing to do with person's dietary habits, sometimes the person's salivary enzymes are not enough to protect the teeth. I rambled on a bit, but I hope I helped you. You do need to see a dentist to fix your tooth, as soon as possible.

Braces and Wisdom teeth - Financial issues?

I will be getting braces soon. My orthodontist recommended me to remove 4 of my wisdoms by going to be a specialist. Only 1 wisdom is partially out. The rest are impacted. I'm guessing that wisdom teeth extraction for all 4 might cost approx. 1000-1600 max. My braces is costing me 5K already, and that doesn't cover dental visits every 3 months. I'm guessing altogether=8K for 4 years including dental checkups. All this, and I have no dental insurance!!! I don't know how I am going to pay for all this, it's all too EXPENSIVE. To the point where I'm skeptical if I can afford this or should I just scratch the idea of getting braces?
--------------------
That's HORRIBLE, wow !~dentists really know how to rip ppl off, don't they? they should be regulated, those crazy thieves, sheesh! Guess w/financial issues pay them a 100$ per month until it's paid off, yea?

What is the best filing status for someone who is legally separated?

To all you CPA's and other tax experts out there.....what would be the best filing status for someone who is legally separated but not divorced? My brother was served with legal separation papers in Dec 2007, not sure how he did his 2007 taxes, I'm assuming married. For 2007 he got a refund. Now he's trying to do his 2008 taxes with Turbo Tax and he mentioned that he put in married filing separate and it showed he owed $10,000.00 to the Feds. That just seems wrong as he isn't making the same money he was, he's making less as he has had several paycuts, plus now he's paying the mortgage, his apartment rent, child support (which I know is not taxable), spousal support (which is the politically correct way of saying alimony or so I'm told) medical and dental insurance for himself, that thing he was married to as well as their teenage kid. Plus everything else under the sun (meaning he's basically paying double, his utilities, their utilities, his car insurance, that things car insurance, etc.). So with all the things he's paying out that can be deducted on someone's income tax it just seems odd that with all that and making less money that he'd owe this year unlike the prior years. So for all you tax savy people, what is the best filing status that you would recommend? Thanks a bunch and have a glorious week!
--------------------
If he's legally separated, he files as SINGLE: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,i… Have him run the numbers again, and they'll probably come out better. (And he *really* needs to stop paying all of his ex's bills. He's still paying her car insurance? Give me a freaking break. Get that man a good lawyer, NOW.)

Regarding universal healthcare...?

I have health and dental insurance through my employer with premiums deducted from each paycheck. A few months ago I went to the dentist for a deep root cleaning and my insurance denied part of the claim because I had too much work done in one visit. Not because I had an uncovered service, but because I had three quadrants done in one visit and the plan only covers two in one visit. The way the denial read, if I had just gone back the very next day, they would have covered the service without question. If this is what private health insurance is like, why the hell is everyone so afraid of universal health care. I would much rather pay my premiums to the government (in the form of taxes) and know that when I go to get my teeth cleaned, I'm not going to have a portion of the claim denied.
--------------------
People fear it because it's socialized and politicians reject it because lobbyists on Capitol Hill give them huge amounts of money to help their causes. Pharmaceutical and insurance companies basically own Capitol Hill. With any luck, we should have universal health care within five years. Some people tend to forget that our firemen, policemen, libraries, postal service, and school among other things are all socialized. And some people hate it because it does raise taxes to offset the cost and some people would rather let others suffer than pay a bit more money into taxes every year. See Sicko, it's a great movie. Also, the people who say Canadians and British people hate universal health care and they wait months to get seen are full of shite. The most revered Canadian is Tommy Douglas who introduced Canada to universal health care and even the most conservative of people in those countries would never want universal health care taken away. The excuse about long waiting times are just that, an excuse and a fear tactic to scare people away from something that would be good for all the poor and middle class in this country who suffer because of the greed of others.

need help from a dentist?

My husband is 24 years old. He has an extra tooth between his front tooth and his canine. He went to the dentist when he was ateen and they took an xray. Said it was a crooked root and it would be a pretty big gap for awhile if they could even pull it. So he did not do it b/c he did not want the gap. Now we are married and he has been wanting to get it pulled. His teeth are not in great shape b/c he did not get dental care as a child. He does not want to do it if he has to have a gap for awhile as he works in customer service. The other problem is money-He wants to just have surgery on his teeth and get them all fixed(most of them are crooked and the front two are too long) We have no dental insurance and when I call the dentist to askl them about it the all say"well we hjave to do a consultation that would be 125.00 then an xray for 80 bucks and then we will tell you. Is there anything else we can do or am I missing something? anyone know how expensive dental surgery is. thanks
--------------------
Dental treatment is very expensive but most offices have some sort of financing--care-credit or a particular finance company that will lend you the money for treatment and can be re-paid monthly--with interest of course, but it does allow you to get the work done now. He will have to have an exam and x-rays prior to consultation so the dentist can determine his needs. You will have to come up with the money for that, there is no way around it. The dentist cannot give you an estimate without determining a treatment plan first. Hope this helps

Why does the US population not support the idea of a National Health Service?

You don't know what you are missing... I am getting a hernia operation, a simple operation which would cost me privately between £6000 - £10,000. On the NHS in UK i get this operation free and i only had to wait 5 weeks. For urgent operations like tumors or life threatening illnesses, treatment is performed immediately. We don't have to find jobs that offer medical insurance, dental insurance, benefits, because they are provided to us for free by the Government. Expensive medicines for rare diseases are also paid for. People don't have to live in the fear that their houses will be reposessed as a consequence of the debt incurred by having a family member fall ill. If we are out on the street and we get sick, we are treated until we are better, no proof of insurance is needed, we are just treated. Please explain to me, because i am sure you have your reasons, what seems bad about this system?
--------------------
I don't know about the UK, but in the US, everything the government does is done quite poorly and at great taxpayer expense. Govenment run housing is little more than slums. Govenment run schools are among the worst in the developed world. Govenment run veterans hospitals offer the worst medical care in the country. American are highly supicious when it is claimed that the government system will be better, based on poor past perfomance of other government run enterprises.

Preventive wisdom teeth extraction?

I recently went to the dentist for the first time in 6 years. Before you ask, the reason I didn't go is I used to live in a country where dental insurance is expensive, the consequence of which dental care is not affordable for a portion of the population, which I was a part of. I now live in the US where things are a little better in that department. Anyway: my dentist recommended I get my wisdom teeth removed at some point soon, as he says they are soft tissue impacted. I've never had any kind of problem with my wisdom teeth and am somewhat reluctant to have that done to me unless it's necessary. My parents have all of their wisdom teeth and have never had a problem either. I still have to go see a specialized surgeon to get a panoramic dental X-ray and see what he thinks, but I thought I'd get opinions from here as well. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I tend to think dentists use their title to convince you to get expensive treatments you don't necessarily need =p I'm 26, BTW.
--------------------
It's really up to you. While a smaller percent of the population doesn't have problems with wisdom teeth, there is a large percent that does. If your teeth are in the soft tissue, they are just below your gum line. If they move, they will break the skin and cause other problems like infection and swelling. I've enclosed a couple of websites that may be helpful since they describe in detail what may result if they are left.

Getting incorrect Medical charges removed from your credit?

About two years ago, I had my wisdom teeth (all 4) removed. The dentist explained that it was imperative because all four were impacted. I checked my credit not long ago, and found that these people have me in collections! My insurance company told me what portion they paid, and gave me another number to call, basically, I got the run arounds. But I found out that my insurance would have covered 4 impacted teeth. Now 2 teeth are being charged to me because now the dentist is saying 2 of them were not impacted-after he told me they were. Now I owe all this money for false information that was passed on to me. Not to mention I have not heard a peep from this dentist about the bill, even after I went back for follow ups. They never even billed my dental insurance. They sent my account to collections less than one month after service. I feel cheated. I already disputed it with the credit reporting agency, and It came back verified. Now what?
--------------------
There are several relationships here - you to the dentist, and the insurance company to you. YOU are responsible for all services rendered. They don't HAVE to bill your dental insurance, it's up to YOU to be sure that the claim is submitted - not the dentist. If it's not too late, you can submit the claim yourself, to the insurance company, and hope they pay some of it. It came back verified, because you received the service. So you need to pay for it. They can go to court and garnish your wages, eventually, if it doesn't get paid. You owe the money for services rendered. Sorry.

12 Weeks pregnant, oral emergnecy. What is the safest numbing medication to be used for unborn baby?

I am 12 weeks pregnant, I have some really badly infected teeth, that also have terrible decay/ cavities. The pain is so bad, and I have bumps under the teeth that hurt really bad, the gums are swollen and hurting really badly by the teeth, my back teeth. Between the morning sickness, and the tooth pain I am starving, and I am in constant pain, having trouble even sleeping. So I made an emergency appointment for tomorrow, I have western dental insurance so I have to go to western dental. They will not tell me how much it is going to cost to get the teeth surgically extracted, but I need it done, its an emergency. I just dont know if Im going to have enough money to get the pain-full teeth out tomorrow. Any how I was wondering what is the safest dental numbing medication for baby to be used on a 12 week pregnant woman? Anyone know which causes the least possible effects to my unborn baby? All answers are appreciated, thank you all in advance. Best wishes, and God bless you all.
--------------------
Local anesthetics are safe during pregnancy because they only effect the tissue around the injection and don't get into the bloodstream in significant amounts. They will use novocaine or lidocaine. Do not let them give you gas, and if x-rays are necessary make sure they do as few as possible. The risk of one or two small local x-rays of the mouth is smaller than the risk to your baby if an infected tooth is left in and you become septic. (I had to have a dental xray at 8 weeks pregnant for that reason and my son is 100 percent healthy). You will also need antibiotics, and you should call your midwife or doctor to find out which is okay because only certain antibiotics are safe during pregnancy but I'm not sure which ones.

Adult terrified of the dentist - suggestions?

I'm 28 years old. I recently bought dental insurance that will be effective on November 1. I plan on making an appointment as soon as possible. I have a broken tooth that will require a root canal & crown. I've never had either. BUT.... I think what I am most afraid of is DRILLING. Just the thought makes me nauseous. The way burning bone smells. Ugggggggggggggh. But I am afraid, overall, of the dentist. Period. I know they can put you to sleep now. But I don't have that kind of money. So..... My mother says I should just take a sedative beforehand, but can that complicate any dental procedures?? I mean.... am I going to get messed up if they give me more or different medicine at the dentists office?? If someone took say....a Vicodin or a Lortab before a dental visit....would laughing gas affect that at all or?? Thoughts, suggestions?? I know that my fear is probably beyond irrational.... I'm not afraid of much else. I am usually referred to as "fearless to the point of crazy/stupid". Heh.... but when it comes to the dentist and his big, bad drill..... I am petrified. Anyone else overcome this??
--------------------
I feeeeel for you. but if you conquer the problem now you may be able to save a lot of hassle. I was terrified for years and now have to go in and get all my top ones pulled and replaced with immediate dentures. Laughing gas (nitrous oxide) does help but why don't you have him prescribe a valium or xanax for before hand? That's what they are doing for me and then giving me the gas and novocaine. Good luck!!! Oh and the biggest part: take an ipod or mp3 player so you can crank it up and not hear the crunching or drilling!! Some hard metal or punk is really good. Watch for a heavy base line though, it can get you throbbin. I got a tooth pulled then went to a punk rock concert with my daughter and danced next to a 6 foot speaker. This was about 8 hours after the extraction and the heavy base dislodged the clot! My mouth filled up with blood. who knew?!?

i haven't been to the dentist in over 10 yrs, im scared of going?

i lived in chicago until i was 15 years old. until then i went to the dentist on a somewhat regular basis. now i am 27 and have been living in michigan since i was 15 and ive never been to the dentist. the main reason being i dont have health insurance or dental insurance. and i didnt qualify for the state medicaid program because i was an illegal alien until i was 23. now being a legal resident. i do have a job but insurance is way too expensive. and for some reason i dont qualify for medicaid. i found a dentist that would let me make payments. im scared they tell me my teeth have no cure. the thing is my teeth have gaps in between them. (i somewhat remember when i was younger the dentist telling me i needed braces but we couldnt afford them). and i do brush my teeth. when i was a lil younger some of my teeth fell out and didnt grow back. and one of my molars broke off (i think thats what you call them(due to an accident) and a chunk is still in there. what can i expect. and am i going to get yelled at by the dentist for not going on a regular basis. do adults get braces???
--------------------
Going to the dentist is very important because several health complications have been linked to gum disease. If your molar broke off, you'll need an extraction. If you haven't been in as long as you say you have then I'm sure you'll need some sort of perio work (a lot of people have gum disease and don't know, don't feel bad) your problems are going to be key in your treatment plan, gaps in teeth are not detrimental to your health or teeth. The dentist will tell you, you shouldn't have waited this long, but atleast you've decided to get help now. The dentist can tell you everything your treatment plan will contain, but my guess is scaling and root planing(done in four quadrants), a few extractions, and/or crowns/bridges or a partial or full denture ( a full denture assuming all of your teeth are not able to be saved) implants are an option as well, but can get costly. I hope I've helped you and gave you some sort of idea.

Am afraid of the after effects of novocaine Any alternatives?

I have a deep fear of novocain not so much the injection but the after effects. I cant stand the feeling of having my cheeks feel numb and "like a chipmunk" for lack of words. Any alternatives? Its been years since my last appointment/cleaning and I know I have some major work that needs done(root canals, fillings, extractions, bridges and wisdom teeth extracted). I dont have dental insurance, am on medi-cal because I am disabled. Not only did I not know that medi-cal provided dental services but also now cant get them because the dental portion has been stopped! This is due to state budget cuts thanks to the govenator. So how can I get work done on my teeth within the next 4-7 days?
--------------------
Quit complaining about the govorner and your crappy state insurance. If you dont like it, then find some way to pay for better insurance. Or you know, just be happy you've got anything at all. And there is no way you will get any of that done in 7 days or less. Medi-cal needs approvals for everything except a yearly cleaning and fillings. And getting one takes 4-6 weeks at the minimum. Edit: Clearly you cannot understnad basic English if you didnt see that I pointed ALL of that out.

Should I get my tooth filling that just fell out refilled?

I had a fall two years ago, resulting in my tooth chipping off. My dentist filled it up (but I remember him drilling it before he did). I'm at college abroad right now (in CT, USA) and my health plan doesn't cover dental services. I know it can really expensive to schedule dental fillings but I won't be going home (where I have dental insurance) for another five months. I can feel a gaping hole in my tooth and my tongue can't feel the end of it - it's like a hole within a hole. There is no pain whatsoever. It would be great if I could wait until I went home, but if my tooth was in danger of rotting and causing me much pain before then, I would rather get it filled. (Even though I can't quite afford it) Should I get it filled or should I wait till I go home? If I do get it filled here, how much will the overall cost be (roughly)? Thanks!
--------------------
5 months is way too long to wait, even if you placed some store bought temporary filling material in it. All hell could break loose in this time. See a dentist very soon and explain your situation to him. He will be able to do the most conservative treatment on the tooth so that is will not degenerate and be okay until you get back home and can have it fixed cheaper. good luck.

my husband and i have been toghether for 4 years and married for a year and a half. but out of the 3 1/2 years that we have been together my husband has been drinking. recently it has gotten a lot worse. there was one time i was working and he actually hit my sister when she was here helping us out with child care. and then i was on a vacation and then he was slapping me arround and when i asked him to stop because it really hurt he wouldn't stop and he didn't show any emotion and then i tryed to get away he pulled my legs out from underneath me. i have beged him to go and get help and to quit drinking but he wont. he absolutly refuses to do so. and his job dosn't help any. his job encourges him to go out and drink like there is nothing wrong with it. but the hitting part only happend once but he is more emotional and mental abusive which the things he says makes me stay because of how i grew up with my mother and my abusive step father beat in my head that i was nothing and that i would grow up to be nothing. which makes me kind of curl up my tail and take it because thats basicly all i know. i have two little boys and my oldest is 3 and he sees what his daddy dose and i have actually seen him ball up his fist and draw back his arm to his little brother which is only a year and a half and i know i got to get out of my situation get out start a new life and raise my boys on my own. on the other hand i am about 8 weeks pregnat no job. how am i going to get out on my own and support my kids and have another baby. he always throws threats at me and i tell myself that maybe he will change and get help but i already know he wont. he is just telling me what i want to hear so i will shut up about it. i just don't know what to do anymore. i have had thoughts that if i don't get out i might kill myself because of where i am but i don't because i know that GOD is there and that he is helping me threw this but how and when. and that i can't leave my boys with this man how would they turn up. he wont put me on his health insurance. he wont put his kids on his health insurance. he has me on his dental insurance but that only covers 1000 dollars a year and due to my pregnacys i have had decalsifitation with my teeth. so now i don't have my four front teeth. he wants me to work and then he dosen't want me to work. if i work he wants me to work and then come home and do everything arround the house. he dosen't like to be left with the kids even if i have to go to the store. i have to take them with me, when i come home from work i got to get the boys up and get them ready for child care myself because he throws a fit if he has to do it. he gose out all the time with friends from work and i am stuck at home i have no friends. i go no where. i have high risk hpv (very possibly i got it from him since i found out he cheated on me before we got married and i didn't know about it till after words) and he still wont do anything about putting me on his health insureance. what do i do. is there places i can call or go to help me threw this or am i just stuck???

No you are not stuck, just leave! You have given him lots of chances to sort himself out and he has failed! You can't even get your teeth fixed because of him? No, it's time for your great walk into the light girl. From what you said in your question I guess you are in U.S.A? Don't know how the law works over there. In England we have refuges where victims of domestic violence can go to be housed and kept safe, you must have the equivalent in America? Take your kids and run like hell. Any poverty and hardship you have to go through to escape this situation must be worth it. Don't get that beaten down and depressed that you feel that leaving the kids with him is your only option. It isn't! Get you and your kids away from this nasty man. Do you want them to grow up thinking this is the way to be?

Need etiquette answer fast!!!!?

I was supposed to have a friend over today in 2 hours, but my other friend, a dental hygienist in training just called and she asked if I can come today ( i was supposed to come on monday but i had to cancel)... it's her last day before vacation. It would be really good for me to go in today because my dental insurance expires at the end of august, and if i wait till her vacation is over my dental insuracne will be close to expiring... and i have to go to the dentist when she is done with me. I called the friend that was supposed to come over but she's sleeping adn i left a message to call me back. The hygienist is calling me back in 10 min. Is it rude to cancel on the friend supposed to be coming over? How should i handle this? Need answers fast plz!!!!

Take care of your health first. If it is an actual FRIEND, they would be upset if you put off a health-related appointment just because you were afraid of being rude and cancelling.

Dentist tooth cleaning appointment, I have a flouride question...?

I have dental insurance, every 6 months I've had my teeth cleaned, and never recieved a bill for the past 3 years. Now I had to switch to a new dentist and they want to charge me $41 for fluoride, I did check my insurance and that is about right. Question 1. Do I need to have the fluoride? apparantly Fluoride is the "rinse and spit" portion of the cleaning, it is $440 but insurance pays most of it except for the $41 Question 2: is there fluoride you can buy at drugstore that is just as effective and not $41.
--------------------
I'd pass on the rinse and spit fluoride treatment. It's not very effective and, if a dentist is going to have you take a fluoride treatment for $41, it should be done with a gel and trays. If you're just going to rinse and spit, use something from the drug or grocery store.....not as strong as what you'd get at a dental office but, over the long run, will work almost as good as you are using it every day.

Should I have these wisdom teeth removed?

Hi guys, Yeah I am twenty four and still have em! Back in 2005 I went to an oral surgeon and he suggested that I have all four removed because of possible crowding and shifting of the teeth. I vetoed the idea because I was leaving for India in two weeks-glad I did, stomach problems, pollution and dry sockets---no thanks. Here we are again, this time I am leaving for Japan in a month and yet again the dentist is recomending they come out---but it seems to me that here in the US they *always* recommend they come out. Is it me or did previous generations/other cultures not bother themselves with this? I am in no pain and really don't have the desire to be. All the same though, right now I have dental insurance and with my company in Japan will have medical but not dental. To take out my cavites, extract a bum root canal and four extractions would be about 240$--not too bad. At the same time I have only 2k saved for my first month in Japan sans paycheck (will be adding another 800.00 to that.) I am not sure if I take the risk and leave them in, or just harden the f*ck up and get everything taken out. Please share your ideas and experiences. Thanks If anyone knows about the state of Japanese dental care and/or how much a Eikaiwa teacher needs to bring, please chime in
--------------------
My old dentist would tell me I should have them removed every time I saw her. I went to someone new, and he told me that I have plenty of room for them and as long as they don't hurt, they're fine. I'm also 24, and I plan on leaving them in unless I end up getting a cavity. Many dentists tell you you need more work than you actually need, just so they can get more money from you.
