do i need to cancel it?

at my x job, i had insurance with the company ,where they were payin 70percent and i was payin 30%. do i have to cancel the insurance or is it automatically cancel when i leave the job. am talking about health and dental insurance.
--------------------
It is automatically canceled. You should receive a letter from them, usually within 30 days of leaving, telling you you are eligible for COBRA coverage. It will be the same coverage you had before except you'll pay 100% of the premium.

Dental records protected by HIPAA laws?

I am a 26 yr old married woman. I went to my dentist and didn't have insurance, so I had a little trouble paying my bill. Anyways, the dentist ended up sending my bill to my dad, in his name, to his address. He was sending it to my address in my name, but after I didn't pay it for a month, he sent it to my dad. Isn't this a HIPAA violation?? Thanks!

Yes, Absolutely!!

I have 3 shih tzu dogs. 11yrs, 7yrs and 4 yrs. What pet insurance is there for my oldest?

My 11yr old is a neutered male and has teeth problems. He never lost all of his baby teeth. The Vet wanted to pull the 5-6 teeth at $170 a piece. I know it's really important to keep their teeth clean...so, I need pet insurance on him. My 7yr old was a neglected dog when I adopted her 6 yrs ago. She's very hyper and panics alot. She has had seizures. The vet I saw before prescribed her some valium for her seizures. That helped alot. My 4yr olad gets sick in the car, so the past vet RX'd acepromazine and that worked well. I've been looking for a new vet because this one is SOO expensive, but, when i call around to the different vets and tell them about the dogs and that two are on meds, I've had one say "well, we don't give out meds to dogs unless we develop a personal relationship with them"....what if the dog is diabetic? Do they have to wait to get to bond before the dog gets his medication? Is this normal and where should I look or pet insurance for older dogs that include dental.? Thank you~

petsmart has a great pet insurance i had it for my own dog and they also do dental so go check it out

dental help dayton ohio?

I need a crown put on my tooth. It is located first molar on my upper left side. I only work part time and have no insurance, therefore I do not have alot of money to spend on dental work. I had a root canal on this tooth which cost 850 dollars and now have to spend another 500 to get a crown. How do i get some help? or where is the cheapest place to go? Thanks, Megan
--------------------
Sometimes the dentist office that you go to can also effect the cost of your appointments. My mom switched dental offices several months ago and now she does not have to pay as much as she did when she was at the other place. I would make it known that I work part-time and have no dental insurance! I would ask for a discount........if possible! Hey, it worked for my dad! Good luck!

Sorry to ask, Dental section is dead, anybody good at dental?

I really need an answer. My jaw locks up or pop sometimes while I eat. Has been happening more often. What causes the jaw to lockup or pop? I just want to know a little about before spending a lot money for an appointment...no insurance....
--------------------
I am taking a wild quess that maybe it is just tension. My jaw popped a few times years ago. Maybe try a new pillow for sleep or do some neck and shoulder rolls to relax yourself. If it keeps up, check out google or some tother site for more info. good luck, those dentists cost a small fortune.

What does the average American make of the British NHS?

Health care is paid from taxes at roughly £1,980(roughly $3000) per person per year (this doesn't include taxes paid by businesses so actually contribution is lower). Some people chose private health insurance with BUPA being the most popular and some jobs will provide private health care as a bonus. All health care is free apart from prescriptions for adults, dental work for adults & optical work for adults. Would you like to see this sort of system? Do you think it's fair? How similar is this to Obama's healthcare plan?
--------------------
I was treated at St. Thomas hospital in London. It sucked. Their equipment was broken and didn't have any back ups. And it was dirty. I wouldn't have taken a dog to be treated there. It's not similar at all to Obama's system. Obamacare is insurance, not care. Doctors can choose whether or not to see you depending on your insurance. If the reimbursement rates suck, you can't get care unless you go to an ER or a clinic. It's a false sense of security that you'll be provided with a doctor.

How Do I Get My 15 yr old to Floss?

I want my daughter to floss - she brushes but doesn't take care of her gums. She is showing signs of gingivitis and both the dentist and myself nag at her about flossing. We've shown her pictures of the results of no flossing, but nothing seems to get through. I've explained that dental treatment is very expensive and in a few years when she's too old to be on my insurance plan she'll regret it. She'll be very, very poor or very, very toothless. Her teeth are a bit crooked and could use braces, but the dentist won't put them on her until her gums clear up and she flosses on a regular basis. I'm at my wits end. Suggestions?
--------------------
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/black-h… Will this picture help? If not, treat it as a chore. If you child does not listen to you or clean her room what provisons are taken away? No TV? No cell phone? Use the same method. I have seen many parents spending thousands of dollars on their children, pleas do not let that be you. Take the upper hand and do not let her control you.

Dental Implants or Bridge?

Over Thanksgiving I had an issue with my teeth and found a cavity on the tooth next to the left of my front teeth. I found out the cavity attached to the root and he would have to pull it. It seems my two options are dental bridge or implant. After insurance the implant is $2100 more than the bridge. My question is: Is an implant worth that much more than the bridge? I have a baby coming in 6 months and daycare is a killer. Whats the best way to go for the money? Thank you.
--------------------
If the teeth on each side of the missing tooth have no decay or cavities, it would be a shame to grind them down to place crowns over them to attach the false tooth to. Here an implant would be perfect. In our office an implant is around $2500 and a 3 unit bridge is around $2800. Good luck with your decision.

I'm unemployed and need medical insurance. What can I do?

For about two years now, I've been living without medical, dental, or any other insurance. Once I sign up for it, I get laid off the next day. You know how the economy is nowadays. My question is... if I've been laid off and out of work, can I get any kind of medical insurance? I've been waiting and waiting. I need medicine for my current skin condition. I've been from job to job getting laid off.
--------------------
You can get medical insurance free from your state's Board of Social Services. I lost my job in April and my entire family receives free HMO right now - no copays on anything, free prescriptions, free labratory tests and xrays, free dental, free eye glass visits, etc. It's a sweet deal. It's better health insurance than I had with Aetna when I was working. WAY BETTER. I am currently collecting unemployment and I still get the free health insurance. Contact your state's BOS and find out if you can apply on their website or if you need to go in person.

Looking for affordable health insurance?

My employer does not offer health insurance. Does anyone know of a private health insurance company? I was with Blue-Cross Blue Shield and they kept raising the rates. I don't qualify for any assistance due to low income. Also some coverage for dental.
--------------------
The #1 thing that you can do to find affordable health insurance is to shop around at least once every 6 months. Compare quotes from multiple companies that have good reputations: Blue Cross, Aetna, Humana, United Healthcare, etc. Here is some more information on things that you can do to find affordable health insurance and then also some info specifically on Wisconsin health insurance:

Dental Plans, I need a root canal treatment and crowning?

I recently visited a General Dentist and had an x-Ray taken in the area of my pain. He said I need a root canal treatment and then eventually the crowning to finish it off. I didn't have health insurance before and so that's why I waited until now to get checked. At least now I'm working. This will all total out to about $1,800. Is a dental plan my best bet now? My husband got hit in the mouth with a shovel, now his tooth is loose, what do we do?

My husband was digging a hole outside, when the shovel handle came back and hit him in the mouth. Now his lower front tooth is loose! We don't have a dentist, or even dental insurance, but is this an emergency? Will the tooth heal by itself?? Please help, I'm very worried!!
--------------------
Chances are the tooth won't heal if it is loose already. Any trauma that loosens a tooth has the high probability of causing the nerve to die, if the tooth isn't fractured already. It would be best for him to see a dentist; if the tooth doesn't die from the trauma, he may be able to splint the tooth to the two adjacent teeth, giving the loose tooth extra support until its supporting ligaments have time to heal and hopefully the tooth will survive as well. Don't play with or move the tooth excessively, avoid any hard foods or ones that he would have to bite into. Also take an Ibuprofen such as Advil or Motrin 600 mg every 4 to 6 hours; this is to reduce the inflammation and pain, helping the tooth to settle down until you can get an emergency appointment with a dentist. Additional information: Even without insurance this is a necessary trip to the dentist. If the tooth can be saved by splinting, it will first need to be x rayed to make sure it isn't fractured; this is about 15 to 20 dollars for a periapical x ray. The exam and office visit for a new patient is about $100.00 then the splinting is approximately $50-100 depending on the dentist and the area. So it could be as little as $220.00 unless the tooth has suffered irreversible nerve damage, then it will require a root canal and a little later a crown with a post and core build up. First your dentist will want to make sure the tooth tightens up in the socket so it can be retained before proceeding with a root canal and crown, if this is necessary. If the nerve is inflamed due to the trauma, he may treat it with an antibiotic therapy, to help it heal, if at all possible or he may do a pulpotomy removing the nerve giving it time to heal and tighten up before proceeding with the completion of the root canal and then the crown. The least is about the $220.00 for the splinting and the highest would be about $1500.00 to $1800.00 for the root canal and crown. You may be able to set up a payment plan for either, again this will depend upon the dentist and his office policy. I wouldn't advise waiting on having this tooth examined; its possible it can be saved with minor treatment or it may be inevitable that it will demand treatment later with a good deal of pain from an abscess or fractured tooth that could be avoided.

periodontal disease...any home remedies that work?

I have Gum Disease (very painful), and I do not have a Dentist or any Dental Insurance. I had a "free exam" and found this out. I am looking for Home Remedies that I can do until I can get the $$ to get this fixed. My Mom says that Green tea will help? Any advice?
--------------------
Oh, I don't think so. It's not called periodontal disease until it's really a disease. You know, like damaged? You have got to take this more seriously, forget home remedies! Brush your gums like heck!

insurance california?

hi I'm an international student who goes to college in Iowa. I have a college insurance and I guess it convers most of meetings with doctors. Now, I'm taking 3 months-summer session at University of California. I think I 've heard some stuff that I need to have "Californian" insurance to stay here. What is this? Is it wrong? Plus, my wisdom teeth is coming out recently. It starts to hurt. Does insurance in America covers dental work?
--------------------
You should check your student plan.. have your adviser go over it with you. Usually the insurance is paid for annually. if you go "off campus" for additional studies the coverage should follow you. BUT the student policies are very different depending on what company is writing the coverage. Dental coverage is not usually covered unless you had that added and pay additional for that policy, it's a separate coverage. If you're going to be in California, check with a company called SmileSavers. They have a monthly premium, the coverage goes into effect immediately (it did when I had it) and the coverage was pretty good. make sure you check to see if the coverage will still be good when you go to Iowa.

Question about divorce and insurance...?

Prior to us getting married, my husband was on a county health program (for free healthcare and rx coverage)...and because I have excellent benefits, I added him to my medical, dental, vision and rx insurance I get through the company I work for. To be honest, I was afraid that due to my income, it would be considered fraud for him to accept free health coverage when my benefits were offered to him...this has increased my premium $100 extra out of each paycheck. Now he and I have only been married since Feb 15 of this year but heading towards divorce now. And he just informed me he went to the doctor (but his doctor is out of network so my health insurance company will not pay for it) which means he MUST be using that old, county health program. I am afraid they might get us both for fraud. And the other thing, I am having to pay for his premiums (and my benefits center won't allow me to make any changes to my benefits unless I get a divorce)...cont...
--------------------
you can ask for it but if he was getting free everything ! well it will be hard...... also you need to get a legal seperation so you don't get any more bills..... about the fraud issue go to the place where he got free help and tell them the story ... it's best to do that than have them find out ... that way you look better in this issue!

I have a question about tooth bonding?

I want to get my 4 front top teeth bonded because they are discolored, roughly how much would that cost? I don't have dental insurance and plan on paying outta pocket... can I do that? Also I don't have like a regular family dentist that I go to... is there any walkin type places or whatever that would take me?
--------------------
As with all procedures, prices vary depending on your location. The cost of dental bonding will also vary with the extent of the bonding process you need. Many dental insurance plans cover most of the cost of the bonding, particularly when it is done for structural reasons. The average cost of cosmetic dental bonding ranges from $300 to $600 per tooth. If you have close, small gaps between your front teeth, or if you have chipped or cracked teeth, you may be a candidate for bonding. Bonding is also used for patients who have discolored teeth, uneven teeth, gum recession or tooth decay. Bonding material is porous, so smokers will find that their bonding will yellow. If you think you are a candidate for bonding, discuss it with your dentist. You should call around your city or county and check with each individual dental clinic to find a place that will take you. Most likely if you walked into any clinic they would give you a consultation and set up an appointment for you to come in and have the procedure done if they found it was necessary or not. Some times they can offer better solutions such as things you can do at home or teeth whitening right there. So just call up a few places or show up and make an appointment. Either way it will turn out fine for you.

Is $800-900 dollars dental expense for four fillings normal?

We live in Beaverton, Oregon which is a suburb or Portland. My wife had a followup appt at a dental office the other day which included having four fillings done. The visit lasted like 1.5 hours. The total bill came to around $850 but after insurance we paid like $450. Is the price for all of this normal for a suburb of a major metro area? I continue to be astounded at the cost of healthcare.
--------------------
yes it can be more even, especially if you don't have insurance

I have health insurance through work. How would socialized healthcare benefit me?

Health = free, $20 copay Dental = 12 monthly Vision = 7 monthly It's a state job. Wouldn't I end up paying more than this in taxes?
--------------------
Carewise you would probably not notice any difference. The cost of your insurance may go down. If your employer pays all of it you are very rare and fortunate indeed. Your copay shouldn't go down. I believe in AFFORDABLE health care and not the stereotypical ideas of universal healthcare.
