Good insurance for a 22 year old Diabetic?

I am 22 years old. I work at Walmart and I am Type 1 Diabetic. I pay for my supplies out of pocket. I never go to the doctors to get checkups. I am in college full time during the winter months, so I work only part time from August to June. I just want to know if there is insurance out there that is not to costly that will cover doctor visits, prescription, also would be great if there is eye and dental coverage too. I have never had insurance. When I was 18 I was diagnosed with Diabetes and I was on a child medical care program that covered all my expenses. After that I was on under 21 medicare. So I been paying out of pocket for a year and a half. I would appreciate any help that can be offered.
--------------------
What you want does not exist. You should get a full time job with health benefits and go to school part time since you need health care. Individual insurance is cheaper for someone who is 22 but until the new health care bill provision allows adults with pre-existing conditions to buy insurance, you may not be able to get any. Now you see how it is for adults who have no insurance. That is why the health care bill was passed. Getting a job with group health care is your best bet because group health does not discriminate against sick people. If there is any insurance you can get, it wont include dental or vision. That is sold separately. You see how good you had it before age 21. The subsidized health care in this country helps only those under 21 and over 65. You would be well-advised to contact an independent insurance agent to recommend some plans.

Please help to decide who's right about this...?

The other day, my best friend and I were arguing about if an aligator went to a dentist for a check up. My friends said that they would find at least 14 cavaties on an averadge male aligator. But I said that most alligators don't have dental insurance. Which one of us do you think is right about this?

AHAHAHA!!! ROTFLMAO! This is sooo funny, it really made my day. lol I think both of you are right, just like this guy ^^^^^! So yeah, fifty fifty! lol :D

Dental anxiety hospital made me worse - Scotland UK?

I am a dental phobic. After a few years of expensive private treatment I was advised to go to the dental anxiety hospital in Edinburgh. Generally my experiences were good, but the long waiting list meant that I lost several teeth that otherwise might have been saved and (worst of all) the last two times I visited I was caused the excruciating pain and fear that made me a phobic in the first place. I am now unable to attend the dental hospital as I am frankly too scared to go there (in case they cause me terrible pain again). So I am back with a private practice and I can barely afford it. I cannot get insurance because I need sedation and my dental bill is hugely expensive compared to the dental hospital. What can I do about my predicament?
--------------------
I would save money and go to the USA for dental care. They are way better, have higher standards for dental care and knows what they're doing. Missing a few tooth? No problem.. They'll make fake ones for you and people can't even tell that they're fake.

If you seen a cute girl but then noticed she don't have teeth, how bad would it freak you out or turn you off?

I'm havin the rest of my teeth taken out on Tuesday, but I can't get replacements til about springtime. We don't have dental insurance and not much money. My teeth started gettin really loose a while back and the front ones came out already . What I have left are mostly loose too. I'm 15 and I'm pretty freaked out by the whole deal, my mom is too. I only been to a dentist once before last week but that was like 6 years ago. I'm nervous about Tuesday, but I'm worried that no guys will even want to talk to me.

Sonic, Waterpik, Interplak, Oral B power toothbrush?

I want to take better care of my teeth but I'm not sure what products that I should get. I don't have dental insurance so this is something that is a high priority to me. Which of these products do you recommend? Have you seen a difference in using the products? What is something that I should be aware of when using the products? Thanks.
--------------------
Depends on your problems. A Sonicare toothbrush is my favorite. It is one of the only electric toothbrushes proven to knock plaque off your teeth even if you don't get it held right up against the tooth like you should, but the price tag is $100-130. However, it does last several years. My dad just replaced his after 8 years. If you are highly ticklish in the mouth I don't recommend this. If you can't afford this any cheap electric toothbrush is better than a regular one. If you aren't a great flosser, have braces, or gum problems a Water pik is amazing. I prefer Waterpik b/c they have the new cordless handheld which allows you to add mouthwash into the tank and use that for an added cleaning bonus. With these you have to be very careful not to use it on high. Also, you actually point it at your tooth at a 90degree angle. Do not point the water stream directly down into the gums. This can actually tear the ligaments that hold your gums against your tooth. Instead, you want the 90 degree angle which allows the stream of water to pass over the gumline and creates a vacuum action that sucks things out from under the gums. People with braces can go around their brackets with this also.

Dental. Is there a price list for private dental work?

We aren`t interested in insurance plans for dentistry.
--------------------
Just in-case you decide to get yourself a better deal. Shop around but I do know that if you visit your NHS local hospital dentist they too have private patients. The costs I found are usually set for each procedure and are a lot less expensive than a private high street dentist. The other great thing is that the dentist are usually highly skilled and sometimes are skilled in all sort of facial, cosmetic procedures as well as your dentistry. I would certainly compare prices you have nothing to loose. Good luck.

Why get Cobra insurance if it costs at least 2x?

I recently left my job, and I received a Cobra notice in the mail that I qualify for Cobra for around $400 per month (health, dental, vision) But when I search the web, it seems like I can just buy my own policy for less than $200 per month. And it appears to be the exact same Blue Cross plan I was on. Am I missing something? Thanks
--------------------
If you qualify for the individual Blue Cross plan you will likely save money over the COBRA offering however it is not likely the same health coverage and most certainly does not include dental or vision coverage. As an agent I helped many clients save money by purchasing individual coverage. However, be very sure that you are approved for the new coverage before you reject COBRA. You don't want to find yourself in a position where you reject COBRA and not qualified for the Blue Cross individual plan.

Cosmetic Dentistry Information?

I am going to put porcelain Veneers on my teeth. I'm 18 and I'm basically wondering if I will need my parents insurance card when I go in for an appointment. I am still covered by my parents dental insurance because I'm a full time student. I just don't want to walk in there and look like I don't know what I'm talking about. Is there a certain type of insurance card i will need to bring? Any other vital information you could share with me about this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

But the United Health Care Secure Horizons lady in our town told me that eyes are NOT covered. How can that be? How can I get another insurance (that I can trust covers everything?) Dental and Vision?

Things should not get blurry "all of a sudden". There's a chance you may have had a TIA mini-stroke. See your doctor before you worry about your vision.

Dental help needed?

I need do have major dental work done in Nebraska. I do not have any insurance and I cant seem to get financing. I am not disabled and I would probably not qualify for medicaid. I am sure that my teeth are the reason that I cant find a job since I am getting plenty of interviews. What other options are there?
--------------------
University of Nebraska Medical Centre and Creighton University have dental schools. Contact these and have students do the work for you at much reduced pricing - the drawback is that it takes a lot of time because every step has to be checked by the instructors - you do end up with good work though.

Dental care in Nashville area?

Why don't you go to the State dental school? You will get excellent work done very cheaply. Most dentists have payment plans. They still are a little hard on budgets.

What to do with Insurance Premiums?

I was doing a tax problem and I got stuck at this part, I know I can deduct Daniel and Darcy 8600 of medical expenses on Line 1 of schedule A, but I don't understand what to do with the insurance premium "Daniel and Darcy and their children had $3,200 of medical expenses and $5,400 of dental expense that were not covered by insurance (The family's insurance is provided by Darcy's employer as a part of her fringe benefit package. The value of the insurance premiums for 2008 is $14,500)" just stuck with that to do with the 14,500 of insurance premiums, where do they go on the 1040 ?
--------------------
Insurance premiums for medical care provided by your employer are not deductible on Schedule A as an itemized deduction. Also you cannot deduct insurance premiums paid with pretax dollars because the premiums are not included in your wages (Box 1 of your W2). Only premiums paid with after tax dollars can be deducted as itemized deductions. Remember that medical expenses must exceed 7.5% of AGI to be included in the Schedule A total. Sue from H&R Block This advice was prepared based on our understanding of the tax law in effect at the time it was written as it applies to the facts that you provided. $10,000 worth of dental work.... is it worth it?

My husband came home from the dentist to let me know he has to have $10,000 worth of dental work done and that is after insurance pays for what they will. My jaw dropped! He has bad teeth and didn't really go to the dentist as a teen (his mom never took him) and the last 4 years he has not had insurance. He is 22. They are wanting to put 8 crowns in, 2 root canals, and some resin stuff from what I remember the paper saying. My question is, Is it even worth it? Or should he just get dentures? His whole family has a history of bad teeth. From his grand parents down, they all have dentures on both sides of his family from poor teeth. His dad is the only one that has his real teeth.
--------------------
Because he is so young, I think the 10,000 would be an investment. Root canals will save his those teeth. I understand your delima though, honey. 10 grand is a lot to wrap your head around . Maybe getting a second or third opinion would help, because some dentists will tell you there's problem that HAS to be fixed when there isn't even a problem at all. For example, I was told once I had 8 cavities, and the next dentist I went to only found 1. But because he's 22, I think the best choice is to get a few more professional opinions and then try to work on getting the problems corrected. and if its more cost effective, and he's okay with the idea, dentures could be the way to go. But dental health is far more important than people seem to realize (myself included) and if if these problems aren't corrected, it could potentially cause other health problems for him later on down the road. I say get a few more opinions, and see if the prices vary.

New Age Dental's Dr. Richie Lerias aka Mommy Dearest?

Has anyone ever had a Dentist go off like Joan Crawford from Mommy Dearest? I have been going to Skokie New Age Dental for castings and molds for a complete set of dentures. I've ask questions such as what Dental Lab do you use and what are the steps for extractions? Each time the dentist Dr. Richie Lerias has been offended and given me answers such as."Why are you asking?", "I'm a professional and I use a professional Lab." "I extract teeth professionally." "Don't be a problem." My dentures and extractions will cost over $3,000.00 and I will have to live with the dentures for at least ten years. As well as it's my mouth and money so I feel I should be able to ask all the questions I want and they should be answered with a smile. Well when the final upper denture were made I noticed black spots and a hair had been cured onto the surface of some of the teeth! When I questioned these things Dr. Richie Lerias told me he would give me the address of the dental lab and I could take the denture there and ask them to fix it. I was shocked. Now he'll tell me the name of the Dental Lab and wants me to solve this issue! I said to Dr. Richie Lerias, "I'm paying over $3,000.00 and you want me to solve this problem?" Dr. Richie Lerias responds, "The lab will charge me if they have to replace a tooth and I'm not paying for that." "You can hardly see the hair anyway." I told him these are not $10.99 dentures and for the money I'm paying I want the dentures as perfect as possible. If you buy a new car at a new car price, you don't want dents and dings on the frame do you? Well his response was to show me what a male Joan Crawford would look like. His eyes glazed over. He ripped off his protective lab cover, roughly peeled off his gloves, slammed the dentures on the counter and yelled "I will not have you criticize my work! I'll keep these teeth and refund your money!" At that point I'm all for it. I don't want Mommy Dearest anywhere near my mouth. He might use a wire hanger for the extractions! I rush off to the restroom (stress makes me need to go) and when I came out of the restroom, Dr. Richie Lerias was standing there with the Dental Assistant and the receptionist Monica to confront me Again and remind me that HE WILL NOT HAVE HIS WORK CRITICIZED!! Stay away from Dr. Richie Lerias at SKOKIE NEW AGE DENTAL, MORTON GROVE NEW AGE DENTAL and PALENTINE NEW AGE DENTAL unless you want teeth with hair and want to get in trouble with Mommy Dearest aka Dr. Richie Lerias. I'm giving the Managing partners a day to respond to my complaints, and then I'm reporting this to the American Dental Association, the Illinoiss Dental Association, The Better Business Bureau and Aetna Insurance my insurance company. Has anyone else ever experienced this type of situation and what did you do? If this happened to you, what would you do?
--------------------
Well its actually the labs fault so he should have said so and then tried to follow it up himself or the patient can go directly and sort it out, most dentists go for the former although the latter is not a no no. The fault lies with the lab actually and should be sorted out by them.

I can no longer where dentures because of bone loss, Any ideas?

I think when a dentist tells you, to start thinking of dental implants, because of bone loss, that Health Insurance should then cover it. What do you think? Mine said, only if there was an accident.
--------------------
I have always been amazed at how insurance companies get away with separating dental and eye care from other medical issues. In my opinion, bone loss is a disease process that should be covered. Now, guess who cares what I think????

Insurance for the self-employed.?

My husband is self employeed and we are looking for an insurance plan that will cover medical for the family, dental & vision. But we don't want to go bankrupt trying to get affordable insurance.
--------------------
OK, the average family plan costs about $1200 a month. Not including dental and vision - which for the most part, cost more than they pay out. If you want to take a big deductible, you can cut that premium down. But if you're looking for a $300 a month plan, for the whole family, it's not out there. It doesn't exist. You should talk to his agent, and get a referral to a health specialist, to get an idea of deductibles vs. premiums in your area.

Is it possible to recieve free medical care?

I just got into an accident and I dont have any health insurance. I got pretty banged up and my bills could total $10,000.
