Will the army tricare insurance pay for cavity filling?

I just enrolled in the dental program, and think I have a cavity, but I'm not sure if the insurance will cover the filling or not?
--------------------
You will get some coverage but not 100%. Tricare usually pays 80% of fillings and if you get a white, tooth colored filling, they pay less than 80% (more like 65%). Also, make sure you go to a dentist who is a preferred provider with your dental plan. If you go to a dentist who is not preferred, they will still "take" your insurance but you will owe more money because they don't have a contract with your insurance. So call and ask. Good luck!

I read about this ASPCA Health insurance for dogs and cats $6.99/m for cats, 8.99/m per dogs is it worth it?

I have a chihuahua and it protects in case of an accident, illness, routine preventative care, like dental cleanings and vaccinations and most plans cover spaying and neutering. Although I don't take my chihuhua to the vet often should I get this insurance? what do you think?
--------------------
i wish i would have had pet insurance, i just paid 2,500.00 dollars for my dog to have surgery and be in the hospital for the weekend and he still passed away...before we even brought him home....but i would read the fine print because that sounds very cheap compared to the ones i checked into...if it is legit, then i suggest yes!

average cost of dental implants?

why dental insurance will not pay for dental implants? why it cost alot?
--------------------
Your insurance company will not pay for implants. It's considered "cosmetic". I live in Maine, and I can quote you what my dentist charges for implants. I spend a lot of time in there looking around and bothering people, so I am pretty up-to-date on his fees. Plus, lately, I have this tooth fetish. Whatever. Anyway, first you need the tooth extracted - $150. Maybe you have done that bit already. Next, they implant the post - $1250. A titanium piece is inserted into the jawbone, and during a process called "osseointegration" the bone grows around the post and holds it firmly in place, just like the root of a tooth. This takes upwards of 2-3 months, sometimes as much as 6 months. They put a healing abutment over the screwhole - the details on that are sketchy at the moment. I need to read more about that part. I think it helps keep food particles out and encourages the gums to heal in a prooper shape. After the post is set, a crown is put on - $1250. C'est fini! Your local dentist's prices may differ. It's expensive because it's a long process, there is oral surgery involved, and healthcare of any sort in the US is astronomical. My sister is getting an implant soon, and she got a loan through CareCredit. Ask if your dentist offers that. It is hard to suddenly come up with $2500, but if it's spread out over a year it is more manageable. Just be sure you can pay it off in one year! Perhaps get approved for half at a time, to keep the debt manageable.

Dental Help for friend with lupus?

My friend suffers from lupus and the medications and compromised immune system have ruined her teeth. The family has dental insurance, but even with it, they would still need to come up with over 7000 dollars out of pocket. Does anyone know of any kind of grant or program to help cover the cost? Or just any suggestions please...she has started to opt for extraction over saving the teeth to cut back on cost, but its sad to see my pretty, 27 year old friend stop smiling because she is losing her teeth

Dental screening on Thursday...reasonable cost and point of being weighed?

I made an appointment to have a dental screening (x-rays and a general evaluation) Thursday. It will be $94. I chose a university, because I believe those are cheaper than private practices. Is this cheap? It still sounds like a lot. Also, if I do in fact have cavities, I will have to get a second job and attend school...do you think I would be better off paying for dental insurance and then getting the dental work? I did a search on this forum and was shocked by the prices. I'm a college student, and I'm paying for this on my own...how long can I wait and still be okay (just so I can make a little more money)? Also, I remember when I got braces as a young teenager, they weighed me. What is the point of being weighed? I don't really see a connection with my weight and dental health. Was that only relevant to my orthodontic work, or will it also be required for a regular screening? I'm hoping it won't be necessary. Thanks in advance.
--------------------
Weight may have been a factor in determining your stage of growth. Orthodontics is all about trying to work WITH growth and development to GUIDE your teeth where they need to go. Timing is everything. We used to weigh patients as part of their general medical evaluation when they were processed in as new patients in dental school, but the last time I weighed a patient was 1975. I have not missed that data either. I've got scales in my eyes that are accurate enough for my purposes. I'm not an orthodontist, though. As far as the fee: I think $94 is cheaper than you could have x-rays and an exam in most private office, but I'm not impressed that it's all that cheap. Dental schools are not the bargain basements that they used to be as universities are holding them more accountable for their income. Some schools have actually closed because they were not able to raise clinic fees high enough to pay their own operating expenses and the universities cut them off. At $94, if you factor in the 3 hours or so that it will take for the procedure, you might think it's cheaper in the "real world." Now, if that includes a cleaning, it's a bargain. An exam only and panoramic x-ray in my office would total $125. A very detailed evaluation (perio charting) and x-ray would be $155. You decide.

I was recently laid off. Should I use my remaining medical insurance to get braces?

My medical insurance will end at the end of the month. And the dental covers 1500$ of braces. I could get this now, but I'd have to put another 1500 of my own money to pay the full 4500-5000 for braces. Should I get this now? or wait til I get a new job?
--------------------
1500 + 1500 = 3,000. NOT 4500 - 5000. xxx

dental plans, and being able to afford the treatment?

If one was to have dental insurance and under went a dental procedure could he work out a payment plan with his dentist, instead of paying the lump some all at once?
--------------------
Some dentists will do this. They might have a loan company they work with. If it is just a regular dentist they might let you do this, but make you pay off the bill before they do the treatment.

Is it possible for a person on workman's comp to get dental coverage from the Carrier?

I have no insurance, but the coverage for the injury I recieved at the work place, which is for a lower back injury. The carrier does provide me with a bi-weekly check, but I discovered that the dental work I need will cost over $3000 dollars. I also would appreciate it if someone out there can also answer this other question: I have recently moved from New York to Pennslyvania, and finding a doctor to continue treatment has been difficult. Thus, I have been traveling to and from the doctor's in NY. to continue treatment as well as benefits. My question is it possible to have the carrier pay for a rental because my car will not last if I drive back and forth for once a month. Please help me out!
--------------------
Workers' Comp insurance is for injuries that you sustain from an accident while working or traveling to and from your job. If the injuries sustain effected you dental work, then possibly yes, if the injury was soft tissue to another part of your body, then no. With regards to your car, if your car was damaged within the scope of your employment, you would have to check with your auto insurance carrier to ascertain coverage for a rental. If you receive a settlement from your Workers' Comp Claim, you can use the money any way you please.

But, I got a bill after 5 months for $920. They said it was 760 before, because it was only 5 months, but now it will be 6. I feel like they screwed me, what can I do?

Where can you go for cheap dental work near Toronto, canada?

For someone that has no health insurance and needs a bridge / implant or crown who normally resides in Toronto - which nearby countries are recommended for both a nice relaxing holiday and a chance to have such dental work done and what are the sort of likely costs involved? Looking at places that are not too expensive to reach by plane - so mainly consider Mexico, Brazil, Chile, etc.
--------------------
Try to visit a Dental School around your area, they need patients for their Dental students. Usually the cost for treatment is a fraction of what you would pay at a regular dentist. Example: Cost of a Crown at a regular dentist: $750.00. Cost of a Crown at a Dental School: $202.00 Good Luck

If you are looking for a dental insurance that pays 100% of the bill the premium will be expensive. If you are looking for a dental plan that includes all treatments I would look at a plan called dental plus. This plan can save you a lot of money because its affordable and includes all treatments.

NYU dental care program for the NYC's general public?

Does anyone living in NYC knows about the dental care program for the general public offer through NYU's dental school. Not the professional dentist will cure/inspect your teeth, but the NYU's dental students. All works done are supervised by a licensed and professor of the NYU dental school. When I was a college student, I enjoyed such service for an annual fee of only $150.00 Does anyone know if such program still exists, and for adult without a proper dental insurance plan?

Low cost or free dental in Houston, no Insurance I want to be able to smile again.?

I am a 25 year old who resides in the Houston area. I have bad teeth. I have had bad teeth for a long time. I recently went to a dentist to have one tooth pulled who told me that I need to have all of them pulled and get dentures. He said that I could get fillings but they would not last long with my teeth being as bad as they are. But the price of getting that done with them is $9,200.00. I do not have health insurance, and I am a truck driver. I barely made $23,000 last year and I cannot afford to pay that much to have this procedure done. I am in constant pain with my teeth being as bad as they are. I do not smile. I am married and my own wife has never really seen me smile. My teeth were fine until I turned 18 when they began going bad. I do not do drugs, and I always brushed my teeth and used mouth wash, the only thing I never did was floss. The dentist I saw actually asked me if I was using meth. I have never used that before in my life. I do not do drugs. If anybody knows where in the Houston area or anywhere close where I could get this done with no insurance, at very low cost or free please let me know. I would really love to get this taken care of. I usually try to hide it as best I can. And when I do slip up and smile a "cheese" smile I am usually embarrased and worried that the person I smiled at is digusted by what they saw. It is very bad and I am in constant pain with this constant stream of infection in my mouth. The dentist did prescribe me pain medication and an anti-biotic. But it's either I find a way to get them pulled or keep relying on pain medication to keep me half decent. Please help if you have any information which could help me. I can pay all of it if I could find a dentist who would take payments. But I cannot get financing to have it done. My credit is not good enough and I do not have any family or anybody who could co-sign for me. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

I have a major dental problem, but my insurance doesn't cover Orthodontics. Is there any recourse?

I did not realize it while it was happening, but my teeth were slowly being worn away and moved around because my jaw is not aligned correctly. I knew something was wrong, but I am the type to just live with it. Three different orthodontists and two dentists tell me that if I don't get braces for two years plus jaw surgery on my upper and lower jaw, and then braces again after that, then I'll lose most of my teeth eventually due to grinding and cavities. I have a decent job and great health insurance, but no Orthodontic services are covered except for dependents younger than 18 years old. What am I supposed to do? Can I petition the insurance company? I cannot nearly afford the procedures that I need.
