So does dental school offer cheaper service?

My wisdom teeth is growing out right now, they hurt a little for a while but they dont right now, but I think I should take them out. Unfortunately my insurance doesnt cover wisdom teeth removal. So I found out there are dental schools that will do it for a lower price. I am just wondering is there any requirements to go there? And do they do the damon system braces for cheap too?
--------------------
I used a dental school for the following: 1. Tooth extraction (front tooth). Cost $45. 2. Tooth cleaning with ultrasound machine. No charge. Students must have needed practice. 3. Damon System Braces. Two years for about $3000. 4. Five gingival grafts. This is a procedure where tissue is cut from the roof of your mouth and grafted over receding gums. Cost $300 per graft. Each dental school may have different screening methods to use when selecting their patients. If the students are at a particular point in their learning or curriculum and you need that particular procedure done, they will take you as a patient immediately. Sometimes there is a waiting list for certain procedures. Yes, students will be working on you. However, most of these students are already dentists; they are simply doing postgraduate work in their particular specialty. If a student has difficulty, there is always an instructor supervising who can take over. Here is a list of dental schools in the US: http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/programs/sear… Simply call the school and ask to be screened to become a patient for wisdom tooth extraction.

How can I get Dental Coverage?

How can I get dental coverage without going through my job? I am 18 and currently working under that table and plan to for about another year (Until I can afford transportation to a real job). Is there anyway I can pay monthly for coverage? If so how do I go about doing this. I have a few problems with my teeth that need immediate attention but I do not have any coverage. Also same question goes for getting health insurance.
--------------------
~~It all depends on the state you live in. The best and most reasonable health and/or dental is through Costco. You must be a member, and they have awesome programs. They cover people in the states of California, Oregon, Nevada, Washington state, and Hawaii. If you are in one of these states call 1-800-611-9057 ext # 2206 and ask for Lisa. She is our agent with them, and she is great at getting the right policy to match your needs. Hope this helps!~~

Looking for a dental school in r near Orlando Florida where I can get a chipped tooth fixed?

I Chipped my tooth over the weekend and I would really like to get it fixed asap. I have no insurance and someone told me to look into getting it fixed at a dental school. Only problem is the only one I found was at Valencia and they only do cleanings. Any info would really help! Thanks!!
--------------------
If you want a chipped tooth fixed, just go to a dentist. Dental schools are looking for patients with LOTS of work to do. There is usually a long waiting list to get in as well. Every student has to do a complete workup on each patient on their needs. A chipped tooth is really too much of a waste of time for them.

Information about doing taxes with medical insurance..is it included on 1040ez?

This will be my first year having my own medical and dental insurance, previously I was on my parents. I do my taxes on hrblock.com, the ez form. Is there a place where you list how much you paid into your insurance? I think the insurance is deducted before the taxes are taken out of my check. This may be a silly question, but I am curious.
--------------------
If it's taken out pretax by your employer, it'll be out of your W-2 amounts and you can use 1040EZ. If you were paying it yourself, you could only take it if you itemize, which requires a full 1040 form - even then it would not be likely to meet the limits to deduct it. So go ahead and use the 1040EZ if you qualify otherwise to use it.

I'm not sure what kind of health insurance to get?

Is it usually best to get health insurance from your employer even if you make low wages? I'm covered under Minnesota Care, health insurance plan offered in MN for people who don't make that much money. Now that I am turning 21 and I make a dollar more an hour (7.80/hr), they are claiming that they need to charge me an additional 50 dollars a month for very limited health coverage since I am not considered a child any longer. I am planning to talk to another representative Monday to make sure the woman that I was talking to was correct about this, but if it is true I do not want health coverage with them if I can't get basic dental coverage. Is it best to apply for insurance offered by my employer or to look into different health options offered by the gov/state for people that make limited income? Thanks.
--------------------
You don't say how much you'll be paying to Minnesota Care, but I'll hazard a guess it's not much by the standards of what you'd pay for an individual policy. So, that leaves the employer option. However, you may not be able to get coverage at work just because you want to. Were you offered health insurance as a benefit when you joined? Even if there's a health plan at work and you qualify, you'll most likely have to wait until what's known as the "open enrollment" period to get onto the plan if you initially declined it. The open enrollment period is a 30 day window at some time during the year (and there's no way to say when that 30 day window might be, you'll have to ask HR) during which you can elect or change benefit plans for any reason at all. To get added to the group plan otherwise, you have to have what's known as a "qualifying event" as defined by the group plan and there are very few events on that list. (And from memory, I don't believe your current situation would be viewed as a "qualified event.) Go talk to your HR rep, because it's all in the details where these things are concerned.

my work will pay up to 250.00/ month for insurance, but most of the plans look the same to me as far as out of pocket co-payments. i'd love to find a plan where i could pay each visit off by mail in installments- does that exist? otherwise i am just looking for great insurance with the lowest out of pocket cost. perhaps i may have to get both health and dental together? thanks for any help!

My brother is 23, newly married, baby on the way, just started his own business, and his wisdom teeth are growing in. He is in a lot of pain, but has neither the insurance to cover it, or the money to pay for the extractions. Do you know of any dental aid for people in his situation?

does any medical insurance in india covers the ayurveda treatment?

I am seeking for a specific medical insurance which can cover ayurveda treatment as well dental and eyes?
--------------------
there is a limit to what ayurvedic treatments can do. You should buy insurance for more severe diseases which ayurvedic treatments cant cure. Or otherwise you have to pay a higher premium. Its better to acquire ayurvedic treatment out of pocket. than via insurance

My teeth are literally falling out! How can you get dental work done w/ no insurance and very little money?

Ok, I'm really hoping someone can help me with this one. To start, I haven't been to a dentist since I was like 18 and i'm 25 now. I've been through multiple pregnancy's which as you know affects your teeth tremendously b/c it takes out calcium. I can hardly eat most foods b/c I'm mostly in pain everyday and also scared of my teeth chipping more or worse falling out. I haven't been since 18 b/c that's when my insurance stopped. This is really affecting my everyday life and I'm afraid for my health b/c bad teeth can cause heart attacks and stroke. And not to mention is doing a number on my self esteem, I'm scared to smile. I'm pretty sure that i'll just have to get all of them extracted and get dentures, but when I look into it, the prices are way out of my budget. Does anybody know what I can do?
--------------------
You're not gonna get it done for "very little money" but you you need to decide whats really important. Would u really want to go cheap on something as important as your smile? I know that sounds mean but I'm serious. I would not want some chop shop dentist working on my mouth. BUT there is an option.... there is something called Care Credit. It is a credit line, similar to a credit card that is just for dentistry work. So you can make payments. Not a whole lot of dentist offer it so look around. BUT DONT GO WITH THE CHEAPEST DENTIST!! YOU'LL REGRET IT IN THE END.

Can I omit information on a health insurance form?

I have been having a hard time getting health insurance in Canada because I have been a carrier of Hep C for 21 years. Even though I have no symptoms and have liver function tests every year that are consistently normal, the companies won't touch me! I am about to have our first baby and would really like coverage for prescription drugs, dental and vision - that's all I need. If I don't put down that I have Hep C, what are the repercussions if I get caught? Will they know anyway? And if anyone knows a company that WILL cover me, with or without a waiver for Hep C related conditions, I will be forever grateful. Thanks all.
--------------------
They check your records they would find out anyway. Check with an agent and ask about a possible exclusion for the Hep C and any conditions resulting from it?

Are dental plans and discount programs really worth it?

I need dental work done, but we haven't been able to pick up insurance from my husband's work yet. I'm looking at discount plans, and they prices seem promising but are there catches? Are they really worth it and do they save you money?
--------------------
the only way you can tell if they will save you money is if they give you their full price list up front. i looked at some plans that just give a "sample" price list so you don't really know what you're getting. I have a dental discount plan called careington 500 Series that i investigated a lot. i found it at 1dental.com. you can see their full list of prices beforehand (so you know what you're paying for. its saved me $2000+ so far on a combination of crowns/root canals recently and i haven't seen any catches. so yeah mine has been worth it i gather that the reason these plans can lower prices so much is that they are "in-network" only so they can kind of work the system. you have to go to a dentist contracted with the plan, but usually they have a list you can choose from so it's not a big deal

Have no insurance and can my gums heal by brushing everyday?

So i have no insurance and I live in a small town miles away from any dental school so that isn't an option. I have bleeding gums and I have since kicked up the brushing to three times a day and flossing as well as using mouthwash that is medicated. I want to know if doing these things allow the gums to heal?
--------------------
Bleeding gums or Scurvy is a vitamin C deficiency and fatal if untreated. All you need is vitamin C supplements. Get these from a pharmacy & also from foods such as oranges, lemonade, tomatoes, potatoes, cabbages, and green peppers.

Need dental work done. No ins, low income, new in city, what can I do?

I'm a young person, going to college, working part time. I need some dental work, but I do not have insurance. I've been out on my own for quite awhile, but my mother might be able to help me a little. How do I find a good dentist that will work with me?
--------------------
Does your college/university offer an insurance program? A lot of larger schools, especially those with dental programs, offer insurance to students, and you can go see their dental students for free. Also check the state your living in - many offer subsidized insurance plans to low income households/students - I know in Massachusetts *everyone* is now required to have insurance, so there are a lot of programs. Dental insurance, compared to general medical insurance, is actually relatively cheap (I think I pay $10 a month?), so signing up for a dental-only private insurance plan might be the way to go. Or, if you find an office that will do a payment plan (many will!), depending on the work you need done (cleaning, cavities/fillings?), you can get by with spending a couple hundred bucks on something, out of pocket. I know a cleaning is generally around $120 without coverage. Doing a Google search on dentists + payment plan + your city might give you some results. Good luck! I've just had a raft of dental work done, myself :)

Please help, I live in in Fort Worth, need dental work asap, have no insurance ?

Hello, i just wanted to ask if anyone knows low cost or no cost dental place in Dallas/Fort Worth area. I am a single mother, just moved to Texas from California, all my money went on the move. I cracked my tooth and today I went to the dentist the cost to fix it will be almost 2000 which i cant afford. I have no way to pay it, it comes to feeding my baby or fixing the tooth sorry but baby comes first. Please if anyone knows low cost or who is willing to fix my tooth for free( i know that's a long shot) please help
--------------------
First, call about to dental schools in your area. Dental students can do dental work under supervision for a much lower cost. If that is not an option where you are, call about to dentists to see who will take a payment plan. If you let them become aware of your financial situation you are bound to find one who will be understanding. It may take a few calls.

My 16 year old daughter needs her wisdom teeth taken out and I dont have the money or insurance to get it done

Does any one out there now a approach i can take with a oral surgeoen or the best way to cut costs wether its insurance or dental plan or anything so I can help my daughter get out of this pain. She has 3 teeth she needs removed. Please any ideas or past experience would be appreciated
--------------------
If they are still impacted sometimes regular insurance will cover it. As a mother I feel you have to somehow find the money. Your child's health is at stake. A child died of an infected tooth. You cannot let your child suffer. You may have to get some type of financing, a dental school, set up a payment plan if possible or borrow the money. But as a mother myself I would and did move heaven on earth to get my children the dental treatment they needed.

How do i apply for a dental grant online?

My family is currently putting two of the four children through collage and lets be honest that is already a lot of money on top of everything else there just isn't any wiggle money wise. we rely a lot on insurance for medical purposes but our insurance only covers two dental check ups a year everything else is out of our pocket and i was wondering if there is any grants or "free money" i could apply for that is ligament and legal. I have not gone to a dentist in 5 years. if you could give me a foundation or a web site that be great. it would really help.
--------------------
Take a look at http://www.mybenefitsplus.com/cberney It isn't "free money" or a grant that will allow you to go to the dentist, but it could be a great option for you to consider that will cut your out of pocket expenses a great deal, even along side of your insurance. And it is a legit and honest company. In fact they have been in business, helping people just like you for 16 years. They are also members of the National Association of Dental Plans, US Chamber of Commerce, Consumer Health Alliance, National Assoc. of Health Underwriters and the Direct Selling Assoc. To see if this is something that could possible help in your situation. 1. Go to the site and look over the plans available. 2. Click on Locate a Provider and do a search for dentists that are available in your area. 3. You will notice that there are names, addresses and phone numbers listed for each of those providers, or dentists. If you'd like to get an idea of what it will cost you out of pocket using the Ameriplan card, call them up, first ask them what it would cost for you to come in and get a check up, etc. let them know what your situation is and after they quote you with that. Then ask them what it would be if you were to use Ameriplan. By doing so, you will be able to see the savings and whether or not it's affordable enough for you to consider. I figure that even with testimonials from others for you to read and see on the site, it's always easier to trust the facts if you see it for yourself. Good Luck and hopefully this will be able to help you out a bit.

Will this new Obama health care cover dental too?

I do have both dental and medical( both with the same company). Will this health care plan cover dental visits too? I love my insurance that I have now.
--------------------
As far as I know, it will only affect those with Medicaid, which is primarily children. Some reimbursement issues for the dentists. Health insurance is separate from dental insurance. Long story short, do not count on Obamacare to cover any dental expenses.

What kind of lawyer do I need for Consumer Insurance dispute?

I was asked to take out a $1700 dental loan up front to begin work on a broken tooth. When everything was done, my insurance covered all but $300. The dentist will not refund the loan, even after (2) 30-day notices from my insurance company demanding payment. They did not submit all the codes, made up codes when asked to submit them by insurance, and charged me individually for services that they also charged to insurance (basically, insurance fraud) They have refused payment, stopped returning phone calls by my insurance, and sent back certified letters from insurance demanding payment. Is there any recourse, can I find a lawyer to help, and which kind of lawyer would I need?

Yes, the CA Legislature in its infinite wisdom has voted to remove dental care from Medi-Cal benefits. It will probably take effect on July 1, the beginning of the fiscal year.
