How do I get insurance with kids and no job?

I got laid off a year ago and still can't find a job. I work random farmhand jobs every now and then to make ends meet. My health insurance from my layoff package is about to expire. My wife is still part time until they decide to hire her full time so she doesn't get any benefits. I have 2 boys that I am worried about if something happens. Is there anyway to find health insurance/ dental. I tried a few places like BC-BS and they wanted an arm and a leg.
--------------------
I really can't answer your question because I live in Canada & our medical system is different than yours. I just wanted to give you some words of encouragement because I understand the kinds of frustrations you must be feeling. Sometimes we get stuck into a certain way of thinking and we don't realize we are limiting ourselves and keeping the things we want to happen from happening. Go rent this movie that is called "The Secret" it is a documentary and I promise you it will change your life.

allstate dental insurance?

my son has an appointment today. should I even bother going if I only have about $50? will they charge me hundreds and take off $20 for that insurance? when I went in for a prescription they charged me $200 and took off $10 for my benefits I just laughed at them and said I can't pay that!!! should I bother going?
--------------------
You definitely should not just skip out and not go. Why don't you call the dental office and ask them what it should cost for today's visit? Let them know your situation and see what they say. It can't hurt. And depending upon why your son is going today will have something to do with whether or not you should go? If you are interested in an alternative or additional option to add with what you already have, go to this site and check it out. http://www.mybenefitsplus.com/40398854 I personally use the plan and love it! Good Luck!

No dental insurance?

I have a really badly cracked tooth...its a molar way in the back on the bottom, basically there is nothing left of the tooth on the outside(its very bad!) i have been letting it go, mainly because i have no insurance and I don't make enough to qualify for a payment plan. are there dentists out there that can help me in this situation?
--------------------
Check out local dental schools. I have this plan www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online about 3 years ago and they have saved me thousands throughout the years. From Root canals, exams, xrays etc. They had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use it the same day. I believe the savings are up to 80% on services. See if its in your area if nothing else.

Health, Dental Insurance and divorce?

I've been married for 4 years and 9 months, and now I am going to get divorced by mutual agreement. I don't have health insurance but my husband does. After divorce, can I bargain half the time of the duration of the marriage, to keep been covered.
--------------------
If your husband works for a company with 20 or more employees and you both have group health insurance through the employer than the COBRA laws dictate that you will be eligible for a COBRA group continuation plan for at least 18 months. This is not dependent upon any type of divorce decree this is law so do not feel as if you have to bargain to be able to get onto the COBRA plan. However, you may want to bargain to get him to pay for some of the premium cost as COBRA (and all group health insurance) is rather expensive. If you are somewhat healthy then it almost always makes sense to save some money and purchase a much cheaper individual health insurance plan. Here is some more information on COBRA plans and your rights:

dental insurance?

i was wondering if anyone know a good one that most take. i have to get a crown and i dont really want to spend 600 just to get one fixed. i'm going to go to iowa and dont know if there is a certain one that only iowa would take,
--------------------
$600 is a great price for a (porcelain fused to metal) crown. Depending on how much dental work you need, you might be better off just paying out-of-pocket instead of monthly premiums.

Can you get veneers for free or at a good discount price with you military dental insurance?

I know that active duty soldiers get everything free with health insurance and dental insurance I was already told you get braces for free but I was told veneers is the faster way to go to get straight teeth do you think they will cover that.

Dental insurance?

My insurance expired this past March 31st because I turned 19 and so I am no longer on my parents insurance but while I was...I found out from the dentist that I have an impacted wisdom tooth. Well it wasn't bothering me then...but now all the sudden it is and I think it is errupted, because it is infected and is really sore and I can't eat or drink on that side. I really need to see a dentist but can't afford one without insurance. Does anyone know an insurance company(ies) that have affordable dental insurance with NO waiting period and allows pre-existing conditions. From my understanding...they can look at your dental records to see if the problem was from before. Thanks, and I live in NC. P.S. I've done some research myself but it is sometimes hard to decipher which companies are ripoffs and which ones are the real deal!

Dental insurance....?

What dental insurance can you highly recommend that is reliable and at the same time affordable?
--------------------
Delta Dental is really good, mostly covering 80%. Aflac is also an option. I'd say look for an independant contractor, they are all over the place, ask around...They offer low monthly payments for reasonable coverage. Go for either Capital One or Care Credit...it'd be like paying a credit card bill each month for your dental care/costs. Dental insurance is a supllement, not meant to pay for everything you'll need to have done. We were just discussing this at work. If dental insurance coverage increased with inflation, everyone would be covered at about $5,000.00 each year! It hasn't been changed since 1976 in the U.S. Very sad considering all the people that could use it.

dental insurance?

what dental insurance company do you use if you had to buy on your own, not through work?
--------------------
When I didn't have dental through my work, it was none. I couldn't find a plan that made sense - they have so many copays and exclusions and waits, for the premium they take in, it was cheaper to pay out of pocket. Including getting a crown during that period (which cost me $900). Oh, that was for me AND A CHILD. So fillings, exams twice a year, xrays, crown, and braces for the child. Out of pocket was cheaper. Before you buy a plan, run the numbers.

I am 34 and have a lot of dental problems. Would it be best to just get false teeth. I need over 12k in work?

I just got dental insurance recently however I need 12k in work due to not being able to afford the dentist prior to my insurance coverage. I know its best to keep your teeth, however I have broken teeth, missing teeth.
--------------------
Ponyboy and Dr. Sam are right on. Let me tell you a story. I remember doing dentures on a young man (I believe he was 22 or so) and he was in the same situation as you. He had neglected his teeth for a few years and the work he needed was even far less than what yours is. He decided that he was never going to take good care of his teeth, so he elected to have them all removed and dentures placed. We tried to talk him out of it but he would have none of it. So, we did what he asked. Months after it was all said and done and he had healed, I asked him how he was doing. He said he hated not having his real teeth. He had lost probably 20 pounds or more because he couldn't eat and he just wasn't happy. I think of that guy every time I hear someone say that want to get dentures. You don't need to get all $12,000 of work done at once. So, it may take a few years. Your dentist will put out the "big fires" first and then move on to smaller stuff. Have another consultation with him and explain your concerns. See if there is other options for these teeth. Your dentist will work hard to help you save them. I hope this answers your question. Good luck

Iam 18 yrs old and ia just started working ... I want to put on my braces but i dont have Dental insurance ,

I already went to the dentist and i need to fill in alot of cavities but i dont have the money to do that , iam looking for a dental isurance that i could pay monthly does any one know about one? hellllpppppp pllzzzz and my job wont provide me with it intill 2 yrs later
--------------------
Braces aren't usually covered by dental insurance for adults, at least in most cases they are not (mine were not). Many orthodontist's offices have payment plans you can work around in order to pay them off and there is also a thing called "Care Credit", which is like a medical credit card. You just have to start calling around and see what is available to you in your area. The best thing to do is start shopping around. Basic dental coverage is better than nothing, however if you need a lot of work done - you will probably be paying quite a bit out of pocket. Start saving up, look into dental schools or low income dental offices too.

What is the cheapest & best health insurance plan in the state of New York.?

I live in Great Neck. Need insurance for a family of four two adults around their 30's, and two young boys. -Dental Insurance -Health Insurance -Eye Insurance
--------------------
Jeff, Cheapest and best are opposing values. Before you experience any health "issues" you want the cheapest insurance you can buy. If your health deteriorates you will no doubt want the best insurance money can buy. Ultimately, you are the one who determines the affordability of your health insurance plan by deciding how much you will participate in sharing the cost of your and your family's health care with your insurance company. If you choose a plan that covers everything i.e. doctors office visits, prescription drugs, preventative health benefits, maternity coverage as well as low deductibles and low copays your monthly premiums will be significant. On the other hand if you are young and healthy and rarely use the health care system you could consider a plan that covers only the major health catastrophe which will result in a relatively low monthly premium. You then can use the monthly premium savings to pay for the occasional doctor visit and still come out ahead. You need a trusted adviser to help you through the process of purchasing health insurance so that you understand what you are purchasing. That adviser can answer questions as to what is and is not covered by the policy, explain deductibles and copays and show you the hospitals and doctors that participate in the network. Check with the agent that writes your home or auto insurance he/she can provide you a health insurance proposal that takes into account your budget and health situation. Some may suggest going on line to get a quote but you probably already know that there is much more to health insurance than price. Use the Internet to educate yourself but use an agent to purchase the coverage.

Have you had a tooth implant w/out dental insurance?how much did it cost you?

Because I don't want a "bridge". --Much more prefer the tooth implant--it's a molar. Or will have been a molar implant. And how many visits to the dentist did it take overall for the completion of your new tooth? ty
--------------------
I have not had one myself, but I am a dental assistant in Michigan. In my area I believe the cost is approx. $2,400 which is close to the price of a bridge. I think an implant is definitely your best choice. People who have dental ins. tend to go with a bridge, because ins. will pay for a bridge but not an implant, so since ins. is not an issue I would go for the implant. I know it will take several visits. I am not sure how many at the oral surgeon's office, but it will probably take at least three at your general dentist's office.

dental insurance question?

i need help finding dental coverage for my family. lost job last year and need dental work done in near furture. does those discount cards really work? will they cover pre-existing conditions. can i use them at an oral surgeon office. Help me in Texas... thanks
--------------------
Dental Insurance Cards do not work. (Discount Crads) We refuse to take them. Generally patients walk into the office and while the insurance companies listed are reputable. The time and expense needed to look up every fee is to great. Usually we offer discounts for cash that are lower than the discount cards.

HeLP!! Dental insurance question???

I was told in the consultation that my insurance can only cover 80% of my removal of my 4 wisdoms teeth. It will be $1,500 to remove my wisdoms and the insurance can only cover $1,200 according to them, the surgeon. And the rest $300 i have to pay. I wanted to know if this is true with other surgeons if i was to go to other places. Insurance doesnt cover the whole %100?? Is this true??
--------------------
Although I agree with many of the answers, that your scenario doesn't sound unusual, there is only one way to be sure. Get a copy of the policy or plan document. All limiations and coverage levels will be spelled out in there. My son's wisdom teeth were covered, but the plan limit was $1500 per year per person. His cost $2200 (3 years ago), so I could have said only take 2 out this year and 2 out the next year and had it fully covered, but I knew there was a good chance he'd never go back. If it's not too late, see if you can put the additiona $$ required in an FSA. It will allow you to spead the $300 cost over the full year through pretax payroll deductions. I think there is no 'bargain' in dental insurance as a whole, but if you collect $1500 in a year, you are a definite winner as far as insurance works. It's normally break even if you get your 2 annual cleanings...anything more is gravy.

Whats the best Health, Dental, Vision insurance to get with a PPO that has 100% coverage in everything?

Blue Cross Blue Shield??
--------------------
you will only find what's best for you by spending a couple of weeks getting quotes by everyone then comparing them. Sounds like a lot of work, the alternative is to go with the first one someone suggests and then just hope and that's what most people do.

Dental Insurance in New York??

I NEED BRACES !! and my insurance doesn't cover it !!! You know any plans that will cover this coast.. or cover at least half !!???
--------------------
Definitely check out this site, http://www.mybenefitsplus.com/cberney Do a search for either your current Dentists, or at least one that is near you, and call them up to see just what it would cost should you use the Ameriplan card & get your braces. Typically the average cost of braces runs anywhere from $5000-5500. When my aunt used the Ameriplan provider and discount to get my cousins done, she only paid $2100 in total. And they also set that up on a payment plan for her. So it's definitely worth checking out. And if you need help or have any questions, feel free to send me a note here and I'd be happy to help.
