Best dental insurance in Central California?

Anyone know of a good individual dental plan for someone in Central CA? Looking for one good prices on dental procedures (implants, root canals, fillings) good yearly rate.. Thanks
--------------------
I live in central Ca myself and signed up for dental benefits with the company below. Its not insurance. It cost me $19.95 for my entire family and they saves us up to 80% on our dental work. You also get free vision, free prescription and free chiropractic care with your dental. I broke a tooth a few weeks ago and it saved me a lot of money. I would look into them. There are no waiting periods of paper work to feel out...thats one thing I liked about them. Good luck to you

i'm having trouble deciphering my dental insurance claim...?

i received an insurance claim for a dental procedure and having trouble figuring out how much i have to pay. amount claimed $1,021 amount allowed $ 400 deduct applied $ 50 patient resp $ 120 amount paid $ 120 can someone please explain what each line means? thank you
--------------------
It's not a ponzi scheme. And to the dentist who hates insurance companies: yeah, if people didn't have dental insurance, they wouldn't even go to the dentist to begin with: 60% of all dental patients have insurance. This more than likely looks like the dentist belongs to a network and the CLAIMED fee isn't what the dental insurance company is going to pay him. Looks like you had a major procedure( I'm guessing crown) and normally the dentist charges 1021, but he agreed to a lower fee to belong to the insurance company's network. Amount allowed is, I'M GUESSING around 50% of the actual amount the insurance company allows the dentist to charge, since most companies pay out major procedures at 50%... but your insurance plan may be different. Check your certificate of insurance to make sure. After you paid your deductible at the office, the dental office probably sent off the claim to the insurance company, and the insurance company came back with that payment. It is now the dental company's responsibility to send you the bill for the balance, if there is any at all. Call the insurance company's customer service line. Hope you don't have METLIFE... they suck.

Medical Discount Plan ideal for those who cannot afford or qualify for traditional health insurance. The companies offer discounted health services for a quite low monthly fee. I have no dental insurance. I have a toothache.?

I have been taking aleeve but it isn't helping anymore. I am looking into dental insurance plans that I can purchase. If I go to my family doctor would he give me something for the pain for the time being? Or would he just tell me he isn't a dentist?
--------------------
Do you have a dental school that's close by? Usually they'll accept patients where you pay a reduced fee on all procedures (up to 50%). Advantages: very affordable Disadvantages: procedures take longer as students, under the supervision of dentists, will perform the procedures.

Short term dental insurance for root canal?

Not to sound like a scammer, but my girlfriend is in a pretty bad situation. She is a graduate student, and has limited medical coverage with absolutely no dental. She had not visited a dentist in two years, and recently had a visit that resulted in a recommendation for a root canal and crown. Looking at fee structures, it would appear that the whole procedure could easily cost $1500+. As a grad student, she obviously was not prepared for this. I've looked online at "discount" plans, and see ones that (for ~$5-10/mo) give you about a 20% price break. Still not that desirable ... Is there any "easy" out in this situation? Without spending thousands of dollars? Thanks in advance!
--------------------
have you looked at AmeriPlan yet? AmeriPlan has month-to-month programs for $19.95/month, with discounts up to 80%. You can check their fee schedule on-line.

Dental Discount Plans vs Dental Insurance?

What's the difference between Dental Discount Plans vs Dental Insurance? Which is better? Also, which dental insurance is the best?
--------------------
If you have good teeth and just want the basics you probably don't need any plan. A yearly cleaning and exam will cost you less without insurance. You have four options with dental. 1. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you and they actually do a very good job. 2. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With insurance you pay $414 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. 3. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With discount plans you pay around $746. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… concerning these plans. 4. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

I don't understand the Explanation of Benefits from my Dental insurance...?

I was under the impression that the "Patient's Responsibility" amount would be approximately what I 'd be charged from the doctor. I paid the doctor prior to receiving the statement from the insurance, and it was much more than this amount. Why doesn't the amount I paid the doctor match up with the amounts on the explanation of benefits?
--------------------
Your doctor's office has likely over-estimated your copayment. You should call and check with your doctor's office, if they have received the payment from your insurance you probably have a credit on your account.

Need about 2500 dollars done on dental work, no insurance and?

don't really want to apply for credit, will most dentist work out a plan to pay them directly?
--------------------
Some will, but most offer a 1 year no interest/low interest payment option that is actually through an independent company.

How come my dental office hasnt found out my insurance was cancelled?

I have braces, which I am currently paying the copayment for it which was part of the insurance, my insurance was canceled 8 months ago, how come they havent found out? My current price will definately change if they found out..
--------------------
They probably already got paid on the braces. My understanding when it comes to orthodontic claims, is that an initial fee is charged at the very beginning and one single claim is paid, not individual claims every month. But if that is not the way it is done, then shame on you for thinking you deserve free braces.

what is a good health insurance that covers dental work?

mine dont cover enough i need to change my insurance.
--------------------
Most health insurance policies do not include dental, and those that have dental as an option are usually very limited. Visit a local agent that works with all the major companies in your area. The agent can explain the dental options and find the best plan for you. You can also get stand alone dental plans that are not associated with the health insurance. The agent should be able to help there as well. Be aware that with most plans there is a waiting period for major procedures. You can also try a Fee for Service discount plans. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan because I find it much more cost effective. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

taxes and insurance question can a portion of health life dental and disabillity insurance be deducted on tax?

just need to know if theres a tax benefit that allows you to deduct any of the money we spend for health insurance
--------------------
If you're paying for your insurance through a plan at work you need to check if the premiums are being paid with "pre-tax" dollars. If they are being paid with pre-tax dollars you will NOT be able to deduct them on a Schedule A. It's because you've already seen the tax benefit of paying for them with pre-tax dollars. Paying with pre-tax dollars is very common. And really, it's the better deal, so be happy. This, along with the 7.5% AGI requirement on the Schedule A, prevents many people from being able to deduct insurance premiums on their tax return.

Dental Insurance Coverage?

I have a wisdom tooth that it causing severe pain, and it needs to come out. Unfortunately, my dental insurance doesn't kick until the beginning of next month. Will insurance companies partially cover anything at all before the coverage starts or typically will I have to wait? Thanks in advance!
--------------------
Ask your dentist if they can wait to bill it. OR go to a dental school where they will work on it for reduced cost. OR offer to trade your dentist for some service such as office cleaning. OR get out a pair of pliers and....nevermind.

Dental insurance companies?

I want to fix my teeth but I'm on a fixed income.my question is if there is such thing as a dental insurance that would benefit me, for example like paying a copay for dentist visits and where I only have to pay a deductible for major stuff like braces or molar removal.and if so which insurance company would you recommend?
--------------------
With most dental insurance plan you don't even have a co-pay for a basic checkup and cleaning. However, the major stuff will have a deductible which averages $100, a waiting period which averages 12 months, and co-insurance which averages 50%. There is also a annual maximum. Which companies are better will depend upon where you live because most companies do not operate in all states. Contact a local agent that works with several companies. They can tell you what is available and can explain how the plans work. You could also check a dental school where you can get good service for a reasonable cost. You can find the nearest one here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Den…

Best dental insurance for braces?

Which dental insurances can you recommend for an adult seeking braces?
--------------------
I paid only $2200 for mine, they originally quoted me $4500 but because of this great plan I have, I got a great deal. I would strongly encourage you to visit this great website: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands on all services. From xrays, cleanings, crowns...etc. All services are included in this very affordable plan. Though it may vary where you live, but the savings are great. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. hope this helps.

My job doesn't provide Dental Insurance but I need it, help please.?

I need to go to the dentist but am probably going to have to pay out of my own pocket. Is there a way I can pay for my own insuance and not have to empty my bank account. Can I sign up with Delta Dental or something like that and pay monthly??
--------------------
There are individual plans available, however you are better off saving your money and paying as you go. Generally these health plans have waiting periods (12 months) for certain procedures. When you add up the monthly cost and compare your annual premium versus what it costs for a couple of cleanings and x-rays it generally costs you more with insurance. Keep in mind the insurance is designed to make them money, and the premium includes sales commission for the broker, administrative costs, and general overhead for the insurance company. If you have a plan that is partially or fully funded by an employer than it's a great deal. It generally doesn't make sense to pay for it yourself. Contact a dentist and discuss what they charge and compare it with other dentists to make sure you get the best value for your money.

we had badger care and dental insurance, im 18, moved out and not going to college?

does this mean i am not covered under my parents insurance any more
--------------------
Generally speaking, once you turn 18 if you are not going to school, you are no longer covered by your parents' plan. I'm not familiar with badger care, but I would think it works the same way. If you need help with your dental expenses, you might want to look into a discount benefit plan. They are very affordable and can help you save a lot of money on any dental care you may need.

Dental insurance or no? Cost of a crown?

I had a horrible experience at my last dentist visit because they seemed to delibrately find things wrong with my teeth like the "free brake inspection" ploy. They found reasons for me to have further dental work done from a filling to a crown. Well, after a year of thinking I'm somewhat worried about my front tooth because there is a hairline crack running through it but when x-rayed, it did not show. I have no pain or sensitivity in that tooth. I no longer have dental insurance and all the plans I've looked at require a waiting period of about 12 months until I am partially covered for a crown. I don't want to wait that long because I'm afraid this crack can spread to my root at anytime. I don't know what to do? Are there any alternative dental plans where there are no waiting periods? Or should I just pay out of pocket money? Also, does anyone happen to know the average cost for a top quality crown? This is my front tooth we're talking about here and I want the very best.
--------------------
Do you have a dental school in the area? Since it is your front tooth, they may have a teacher do the work. My brother did this when he was young and unemployed. At least they would consult with you and give you some qualified answers.

I was looking into dental discount plans, has anyone used these? They are not insurance but discount plans.?

I have dental insurance but not one that covers the cost of braces. If anyone has any information for me I would greatly appreciate it.
--------------------
Shall we wait for Rachell Burke to show up and give her free ad again? For the most part, dentists who are successful don't need to discount their rates. Any dentist worth his or her salt can charge a reasonable fee without offering discounts to people on these plans. The so-called discount plans make big money for those selling them, but offer extremely limited choices to those who purchase them. If people put their money in a medical savings account, they'd be far better off, PLUS they would have a choice of dentists. If a dentist is willing to substantially discount their work, ask yourself this question: "What part of the service should they NOT do? Anesthetic? Should they use non-sterilized instruments? Maybe get somebody off the streetcorner to assist?" The prices dentists charge usually represent what it costs to deliver the service. If they could do the same thing for 25% off, they would do it for everybody. They'd be the most popular dentist in town. Unfortunately, providers willing to get into these plans are often desperate for patients. Buyers beware.

I need my wisdom teeth out & have no dental insurance! Help!?

I live in Seattle Washington & recently saw a x-ray of my jaw at a chiropractors office. My bottom wisdom teeth are coming in sideways, & they are starting to crowd my teeth & I am getting headaches too :( I have no dental insurance, & need to get them out sooner then later! Any suggestions??? Please help. Thanks in advance
--------------------
Some state Universities offer free dental care, including surgeries and it is best to call and ask about their Med student programs and see what is available to the public as far as your wisdom teeth go. I am sorry to hear you are going through this. I had mine pulled 4 years ago and required care afterwards because mine were impacted and therefore it was an awful surgery. For the pain afterwards, ask for meds and try Ambisol as well to rub on your gums. It helps a lot. Also you will want to have soft foods on hand like Jello, Mac&Cheese, yogurt, soups, etc. Take care!
