Medical insurance for dental?

The medical insurance company had turned down my medical claim for dental expenses which i had to do in my home country while on my vacation. The insurance company turned down the claim saying that it is not an emergency treatment. But how could severe pain and treatment for Abscess could possibly be NOT AN EMERGENCY..? How could anyone delay or bear a severe toothache for at least a month till returning back to the base country..? My insurance cover is covering the medical expenses only if it is an emergency if treatment done outside of the base country. But they simply turned down the claim saying it is not an emergency. How can i appeal and prove them that this was actually an emergency..?
--------------------
The notice you received probably gave you instructions to appeal the decision within a certain time frame. You will probably need a written statement from the provider of the dental service as to the reason why you required dental treatment. Send in your appeal asap. Tell them you have written a request to the dentist for proof that your treatment was an emergency and give them the date of your request. Include a copy of your letter to the dentist with your appeal. Ask the dentist to send the proof directly to your insurance provider; provide him with an envelope and your insurance ID #. Ask him to send you a copy of the letter he sent to your insurance co. so that you'll know that he did so and when so you can follow up with the insurance co if necessary. Give the insurance co two or three weeks to respond to the appeal and the dentists statement before the follow up.

Dental insurance or Dental plan? ?

I recently got a checkup and found that I need nearly $3000 in dental work. This includes removing 3 wisdom teeth and filling cavities. I was wondering if there is a way I can reduce the cost of the dental work. I have heard that dental plans do not work well, and I do not want to finance the 3000 either. Thanks for the answers in advance.

I would encourage you to visit this great plan: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands on all services. From root canals, xrays, extractions, cleanings...etc. Even my braces were covered in this very affordable plan. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use them the very same day. Good luck and hope this helps.

Trying to figure out dental insurance ? I have a 25.00 annual deductible and a 1500.00 annual maximun. What?

does that mean???
--------------------
An annual deductible is the amount that the patient (you) are responsible for paying, before your insurance kicks in. $1,500.00 annual maximum is the maximum amount your insurance will pay, per year for your dental expenses.

Where can I find inexpensive dental care in the Killeen, Texas area? Need work done, have very little money.?

I have no dental insurance, need to have some teeth pulled, including wisdom teeth. Hoping there is a Dental school nearby that offers free/low cost care.
--------------------
Call up a dentist and ask if he knows of a low cost or sliding scale clinic in the area. Sometimes dentists will donate work to low income people and there might be a free dental clinic that you can go to. If the first dentist doesn't know then try another one.

root canal needs to be redone in my molar tooth, but I have no dental insurance and just lost my job?

I did a root canal on one of my molars 2 years ago, everything was fine, but recently I have started to experience a pain when I drink something hot. My general dentists advised me to see a specialist, but I don't have money to do it. I started drinking antibiotics and pain and sensitivity went away for 3 months. Now the tooth hurts more, I can feel hot and cold water, and sometimes it hurts in the evenings too. I wonder if there is some good dental plan I can buy, that can help me to save money on health insurance in California, or maybe there is some dental insurance I can buy. I am from Ukraine, so I am thinking maybe i should buy a ticket home and fix my tooth there, however I am registered for classes in the university and I don't want to put my life on hold because of this trip. To cut a long story short, I just really need a good advice on what should I do. I want to save a tooth, and I am not even thinking about pulling it out so don't advice me that option please.
--------------------
If you are under 21, you can apply for Medi-Cal and Denti-Cal. http://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/medi-cal… "Drinking antibiotics" is bad for your body, and if you keep doing it, your body will build up an immunity to the antibiotics.

Does buying "health insurance" cover both medical and dental?

Or would you have to get 2 different insurances, one for medical and the other for dental? If you can provide links and sources please. Thank you.
--------------------
This depends on what plan you get. Some plans are just medical while others come with both and sometimes you can choose to add dental or not. When talking with the insurance agent ask thorough questions about what is covered in the dental insurance (whether it's included or not), some can be really good deals others can cover barely anything. Usually health insurance plans with low premiums and high deductibles cover very little when it comes to dental OR don't have dental at all. Blue Cross Blue Shield however is a good deal in my opinion.

How do I find a dental company that covers adult braces?

I have dental insurance in cobra but it does not cover adult braces. I am looking for a dental ins. that individuals can buy. I also heard there is ortho ins. as well. I have decided to try to buy the ins on my own because most group plans do not cover adult braces. I am not looking for those discount programs. This is a really hard topic to find on the internet! Any help would be appreciated.

Ph a broker, and ask them to find one for you or simply phone a few insurance companies

Is it possible to get a bank loan to pay for dental work?

I need a lot of dental work and im sure i am going to be looking at a hefty bill.Probably between 3 to 6 grand.Which i do not have.sure i do have a good job and i do have dental insurance but it isn't that good.
--------------------
You would have to apply for an unsecured personal loan. There are no "dental loans" per se. An alternative might be to work out a payment plan with the dentist. Another alternative, if your condition permits, is to stretch out the work over multiple years - that might result in your insurance picking up a larger total. Remember that most dental plans have annual ceilings on payments.

A question about my teeth? im in a LOT of pain and dont have dental insurance?

well to put it strait i cringe when i think of candy. i am a 13 year old girl who has an EXTREMELY BAD ADDICTION to candy.i LOVE IT SO MUCH! well since easter of april 09 wen i put a peice of candy into my mouth it kills so bad i want too cry! i have had dentaphobia all my life and now im just sick of the tooth pains. i want candy again and oreos hurt my teeth too. i miss all these foods so i want to see a dentist ... but my dad has harvard pilgrim insurance and only covers children 11 and younger for dental insurance. i tried to tell my dad but hes all like *mhm uh huh yupp...* and says i probably have a cold and i KNOW i dont. mass health insurance covers dental but if he makes over 45000 a year we cant have it and he does make over that amount. so we have to flat out pay it, HOW DO I GET TO THE DENTIST!!!!!!!
--------------------
if you are looking to find a dentist with lower fees, try dental school around where you live. also can you add more detail about the pain you are experiencing now? does it hurt when you chew?is it only one tooth or more than one? is it sensitive to coldt? does it keep you awake at night? more detail, better. Have that check out by a dentist. Ask your dad if you can at least just see a dentist to be sure about this. you can get a consultation for cheaper price just to see what is going on with the tooth and then decide if you want to pay more to fix it. There are alway cheaper price dental clinics around especially for kids. also dental schools have lower fee with great services. Good Luck.

What's the average price range for dental veneers?

I would like to set up a surprise appointment for my fiance to get a few veneers put on his front teeth, because they're stained and damaged and he's very self conscience of them. But I have no idea how much money that would require. What makes it even more difficult is the fact that we have absolutely no dental insurance. On average, how much do dental veneers cost? And does it vary by where you live? I live in the Wisconsin/ Minnesota region.
--------------------
Do you want veneers or have you considered Lumineers? Veneers are going to run you around $500 and up per tooth. They also involve quite a bit of tooth reduction in order for them to fit properly. Lumineers involve minor cosmetic preparation and the suggested retail price is $1000 per tooth, but you'll have to check with individual offices.. EDIT: $1075 per Veneer? Jesus...where do you live that it would cost that much? Look, if you are going to be paying over a grand per veneer, just go with the Lumineers. The cost is most likely going to be comperable and because there isn't any cutting or grinding of the teeth, the proceedure is also essentially painless and reversable, if you chose to do that in the future.

How to get quotes from insurance providers for a new comparison website?

I am creating an insurance comparison website such as moneysupermarket.com, confused.com, or insurance.com.. I want to access the quotes of all the insurance providers and provde these quotes to my customers. How can I get the APIs used by the insurance comparison websites? I am interested in any of the Life Insurance, Medical Insurance and Dental Insurance.
--------------------
You can buy an app to place on your site from services like CompuQuote, iPipeline or Norvax. I'm not sure if they'll let you wrap your own UI around the API, but you should call them to ask.

Dental insurance question, multiple coverage?

My son is going to need some orthodontic work done in the next few years. My ex husband and I both have coverage on him though I've always only used mine. Does this mean that there is a possibility that his insurance will pick up part of what mine doesn't provided his plan also provides somewhat for orthodontic work?
--------------------
If the orthodontist participates with both insurance providers, probably. But you need to check your benefits and have your ex check his to find out how much each insurance company will pick up. For example, my daughter's dental insurance only covers 1000.00 for orthodontia. I had to pay the rest.

Does the COBRA Act require employers to give employees the option of continuing insurance coverage for 2 years?

True or false question: The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) of 1985 requires employers to give employees, on termination of employment, the option of continuing their medical, optical, or dental insurance coverage for a period of two years. True/false?
--------------------
~~False, it isn't for that long and it's only required to offer if there are more than 20 employees.~~

how much would a professional mouth guard made by a dentist be without insurance?

Is it unusual for a dentist to charge more than the dental insurance says is my share when they are in network?

The last two dentists I've visited ask the patients to pay the patient portion of the charges prior to doing the dental work. After I received the explanation of benefits from the insurance company, it showed that their charges were in excess of the agreed upon cost for the procedure and they had asked me to pay too much for my portion. When I pointed this out, the dentists were not very gracious in responding to my inquiries to the point where I feel uncomfortable returning to them for services unless I am willing to let them continue to charge me more than they've agreed to with the insurance company. Is this a usual occurrence? Does it happen to other people regularly and they just ignore it? Should I consider the overpayment (ranges from $10 to $35 each visit) a tip for services rendered or should I insist that the dentist stick to the cost they've contracted with the insurance company for and ask for a refund? Does this mean it's time to find another dentist?
--------------------
This is NOT common practice and something that you need to bring up to your health insurance provider. You will need to go with the copy of your bill and explanation of benefits from the insurance company and speak with the office manager. If they still will not resolve the issue then you should definitely speak with your health insurance company again, let them know exactly what happened, and see if they will do something about it. If they can't, depending upon the amount you had to pay out of your pocket in excess of your copay or whatever the insurance company would not cover, then you can either forget about it or speak with the board of dentistry for your state.

I need my wisdom teeth out, but have no dental insurance..ideas?

I'm 25 and my wisdom teeth are finally coming in, my back one feels like it's cutting my cheek constantly, and it's pushing against my molar, making it ache. I have health insurance (with a SUPER high deductable) but no dental insurance. I'm in debt up to my eyeballs from a major surgery last year, and just don't know what to do. Any ideas??
--------------------
Look around for free health clinics or free health care programs. I didn't have dental insurance either and I did that and had them removed and only paid 30 dollars for xrays and I heard the cost is about $1000 for all four! Also the dentists are willing to work out a payment option if you do not have insurance.

Would you go to a top college's dental school if you didn't have dental insurance?

I don't currently have dental insurance, but I just basically need to have my yearly teeth cleaning and make sure I don't have any cavaties. I am 28 and just had my first cavity (in my wisdom tooth though which they want to just remove, I wouldn't let them) so I have really good teeth. It's the University of Michigan dental school, would you trust them if they were just going to be doing basic stuff like cleaning, checking for cavaties, maybe (but probably not) a simple filling at the most? I am a little nervous but I cannot really afford the $500 per filling from my regular super upscale dentist. He's the best but his prices are crazy and with no insurance 2 fillings could be very pricey!
--------------------
Oh yeah. I've been going to New York University for all my dental work for years because of major money issues. I have serious dental problems and have been told I have the teeth of someone twice my age (I'm 31). I've had all sorts of procedures done at NYU including root canals. The only thing about dental schools is that the procedures take longer. Not only do they work slower but they constantly need the supervisor/instructor (a 'real' dentist) who is there to come over, check the work and give pointers. The students know what they are doing but the work still needs to be checked. It can get annoying because there may be 50 students on the floor and only a handful of supervisors. You could end up sitting there for 20 minutes, staring at the wall, waiting for the supervisor to get a chance to look at you. The students have to do a lot of paperwork. Nothing can be done without a signature from a supervisor. Basically, something that would have taken about 45 minutes at my old dentist could take up to 2 hours at NYU. More complex procedures may require multiple appointments. Oh, and you really HAVE to be on time for your appointment. Even showing up 10 minutes late can be a problem. They run on a particular schedule there and appointments can only be made for certain 2 hour time slots. Seems like it's one patient per time slot even if it's a quick procedure. Your student dentist will lose their chair to another student if you're not on time and there will be no where to sit. Sometimes, it can be weeks before you can get another appointment. At least that's how it works at NYU.
