how much are braces if i have no dental insurance?

i need braces on the top of my teeth only i also think one of my teeth on top needs to be removed. i only need top braces how much would this be?
--------------------
It depends whether you have them done by a general dentist or by an orthodontist. Also it depends on what part of the country you live in. I would suggest to look into the eHealthPlus membership. Search for orthodontists and general dentists by zip code. They will save you 25%-60% on braces.

Do college students get any medical/dental insurance?

I go to Long Beach City College, and would like to know if we get medical and/or dental insurance ? If yes, how do I use the insurance? If not, does anybody know of any places or programs that help students with getting insurance ? thank you
--------------------
Not in the US unless you want to pay through the nose. Just saying.

If you have dental insurance, but doesn't cover braces is their grants or financial assistance available?

The dental condition I have is failure of the upper caninines to come down. I'm 34 now and insurance only covers up to age 19. I need to correct, but cannot afford braces. Thought maybe there was an instution that works with this defect since it only happens to about 2 percent of the population. Thanks.
--------------------
There are no such financial aids to my knowledge. However, see if there is a dental school in your area. You can get all the services for a fraction of the cost. The work is done by students near the end of their training and they are supervised the entire time. Might be an affordable option for you. A family with money issues that I knew in Michigan had all their dental work done at a dental school and were very pleased with them.

What the cheapest quality dental and or eye insurance?

What the cheapest quality dental and or eye insurance? I want coverage on both but don't want to pay much, fixed income and my tooth is hurting and I normally don't have much extra cash.
--------------------
Good dental care is usually not much more expensive than the visits themselves...... You should call, ask some questions about prices, and ask about Care Credit, a dental credit line. You can extend payments for a year with no interest if approved.... Really, you can do the regular maintenance things, but it is important to go yearly.... Just like your car....it needs a tune-up or oil change, and you get it done and pay for it, you don't have insurance for that do you? Good dental care cost are in the hundreds....not thousands....it is NOT like medical coverage at all.....it can be done mostly out of pocket, or spread over a couple of payments....just get into an office and work out something....it can be done.

Can I be denied health/dental insurance from my employer because my wife is pregnant? I work in Costa Mesa, CA

I have been an employee for a year and could only enroll during open enrollment. My wife is only being put on my dental. They said after the baby is born then we are cover?
--------------------
I'm pretty sure that's illegal. My wife was 2 months pregnant when I started my new job and she was covered right away. I think pregnancy cannot be considered a "pre-existing condition." But then again, California is more liberal than Texas about those things. It may be different there.

How much should a dental crown cost without insurance?

I've already had a root canal on two teeth in the back, but I think my dentist is trying to rip me off by charging me $1000 per crown and he knows my insurance won't cover it. How much should a dental crown cost. Not $1k, right?
--------------------
Without knowing where you live, it is hard to say how much you should pay for a crown. The prices can vary quite a bit from state to state and from city to city. Just a rough idea, crowns could be anywhere between $700 and $1500 approximately. Call a few dental offices in your area. Some will give you a price, some may not. Before you call, make sure you know the ADA code for the crown. You could also call your insurance and ask what allowance they give for a crown. The codes specify what kind of crown you are supposed to get on your tooth. There are quite a few options. By giving the ADA code (the letter D and four numbers - should be on your treatment plan), you will actually be able to compare the price. Without the code, once again, the quote may vary quite a bit, because of all the different types of crowns. That would comparing apples to oranges.

how much is dental insurance monthly, and who do you have?

I'm 23yrs old, no kids and not married, how much do you think dental would be. (I haven't been since 2004 and that's when I was on my dads insurance!)
--------------------
You have five options with dental. 1. Go without insurance. If you have good teeth and just want the basics you probably don't need any plan. A yearly cleaning and exam and even an occasional filling will cost you less without insurance. 2. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you. 3. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With insurance you pay $414 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. 4. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With discount plans you pay around $746. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… concerning these plans. 5. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

I am looking for a dentist who can work with my very limited budget. I really want my teeth removed and get dentures. At present I live in DAILY pain. Any answers you may have will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My best suggestion to you would be to contact the nearest Dental school, they usually offer reduced rates, and perhaps payment plans. Please don't delay dental infections can cause life threatening issues. Good luck

How much does it cost to have a small cavity filled without dental insurance and will they treat me without it

I think I might have a cavity and don't make enough money to qualify for public assistance health care and can't afford a private healthcare plan!! What in the hell are people like me supposed to do? I refuse to pay $300 a year for a healthplan I might never use when $300 is a large sum of money for me. My workplace is too small to afford to offer it's employees health coverage either but I love my job. Is it fair that I have to choose between a depressing job and living in a cheap-rent ghetto and knowing I can go to the doctor when I'm sick? All I want to know is where do I go and what can I do??
--------------------
Call several dentists and ask how much it will be to have a check up, cleaning, and a cavity filled. It'll probably be $40 for the checkup, $40 for the cleaning, and $60-$80 for the cavity.

Anyone know of an affordable individual health/dental insurance plan for Brooklyn, NY?

I no longer have school insurance and my work does not offer insurance. I am looking for an affordable health/dental insurance plan in Brooklyn, New York. Is dental included in medical insurance or is that separate? I don't want to spend $600-$1000 on a premium for an HMO, but would rather spend a few hundred a month while getting a decent amount of benefits. Also, does anyone know of a comparison chart online regarding details of insurance providers including premiums and benefits. All I can find are complaint comparison charts for insurance providers. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You don't need insurance over here unless you want to go private we have nhs hospitals which are very good, but i would say that being a nurse in one, also we have nhs dentists you just register with a dentist when you come over i think it's about 16 pounds for a check up, but the hospital you just walk straight into if you're ill and you'll get seen

does insurance cover dental implants? And how much do they normally cost?

I need several dental implants. Does insurance cover any part of that? I have aetna . What is the cost usually for each implant? Does it hurt?
--------------------
Since your Aetna probably does not cover dental implants you may want to add a supplemental plan that does. I suggest the eHealthPlus membership. Be sure your dentist is on both networks for maximum benefit. Search by zip code.

Do dental insurance deductibles carry over?

I have been paying monthly premiums for three years but I have never been to the dentist in that time. My cap is 1500 per year. Does this mean they will now cover the first 4500 since I have not been to the dentist in three years? Or is it a "use it or lose it" scenario. My plan is with Aetna.
--------------------
No, your insurance will not accrue the maximum from year to year. It would be wonderful if they did, but then again we are talking about insurance. If you do not use the $1500.00 max within the year the benefits are lost.

How often should you go to the dentist for teeth cleaning? I dont have dental insurance, how much would?

it cost me for a cleaning?
--------------------
Every six months is a nice AVERAGE, but many people need it more often than that. Several of my patients come every 3 or 4 months, depending on their need/ SOME in my practice only need it once a year, so that's what we do.
