looking for individual dental insurance?

I'm trying to find an affordable good dental insurance company. I've looked online quite a bit and can only find insurance with a 6 mos waiting period or a "dental plan" that you pay like $100 a year for a discount which seem useles. I'm 30 and live in Ohio if that makes any difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
--------------------
You will not find an individual dental plan without a waiting period. The 6 month wait is for minor procedures, most also have an 18 month wait for major procedures such as a root canal. You have four options with dental. 1. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you. 2. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With insurance you pay $414 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans. 3. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With discount plans you pay around $746. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… concerning these plans. 4. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $829. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404. I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?lo… specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

Is insurance available for a removable dental device?

I have a removable partial dental plate with a replacement value of between two and three thousand dollars. I occasionally remove it when I am fatigued, and stick it in a pocket or, worse, leave it on a table. I try to be careful, but I am somewhat forgetful and have already lost one device, which took a lot of money and effort to replace. I wonder if there is an insurance company which would provide replacement insurance for the device in the event (heaven forbid!) I lose it again in the future.
--------------------
Nope. I've had a lot of people ask me about it, but the fact is, they are SO easily lost, and SO expensive, that they aren't insurable for "oops I lost it". They are, however, covered under your standard homeowners policy for things like fire, or vehicular damage if a car should hit you.

Does anyone know of any good, affordable dental insurance?

I am self-employed and I need to see a dentist, can anyone help?
--------------------
Dental insurance (in general) is inexpensive. There are plenty of dental plans with insurances such as, "Blue Cross". For example you can get a Dental plan (a very good one) for as little as $10-$20 per month. Go onto the Blue Cross website. The type of insurance that would cost you quite a bit is medical insurance which is different the dental (of course). Hope this helps!

My dental insurance wont cover braces...need to find a discount plan?

My husbands plan wont cover spouses for braces. Do you know any companies and or any websites that I can get some info from. I'm looking for a company that offers a discount for braces only, I don't need a discount on dental because I already have dental insurance. Any advice or experience with this would be a help...thanks!!!
--------------------
Discount dental plans are a joke. Orthodontists have fixed costs - brackets and wires are expensive. So is the cost of additional training necessary to move teeth. Why would a specialist provide services for a fraction of what they normally charge? What will they do for full-paying patients that they won't do for a discount patient? Ask about payment plans, cash discounts, etc. Stay away from multi-level schemes such as Ameriplan.

Which Dental Insurance should I get?

I live in New Jersey and my options are either Cigna, Metlife or Delta. Which Dental insurance should I get from these two option? Pros and cons would be great.
--------------------
Doesn't matter. What matters is the benefits each one provides and you determine that with how much you pay a month. Obviously ones that pat better and give you greater freedom choosing your provider will cost you more per month. Good Luck.

whats the difference between a waiting period and elimination period in dental insurance? which is better?

If there is a difference?
--------------------
A waiting period is the days/weeks/months etc that you have to wait before the insurance will pay for proceedures. The elimination period is the time when the company can decide to either accept you as a customer or not. Basically, with an elimination period they are going to go through your previous records and decide if you would be too costly to insure. The waiting period is much better, because yes you have to wait, but you will eventually be covered.

I broke one of my front teeth, and I have no dental insurance?

I am barely making ends meet so I don't know how I'll be able to afford another bill. I have always had problems with this tooth. I had braces as a teenager and after they were taken off, this tooth seemed to move back a little and I learned not to chew on that side of my mouth because it hurt to bite down. I was biting into a sandwich today and the bottom of this tooth broke off. Like I said, I used to go to the dentist all the time, it seemed like every time I went they made an excuse to give me another xray or whatever. I cannot afford the costs they will pile on me. If it was any other tooth further back in my mouth I would just get it pulled but I work as a waitress in a nice restaurant and I need to look presentable. I am so frustrated, I can never get ahead. I live in Wisconsin, if anyone knows how I can find cheap or free dental care...
--------------------
ouch! see if there are any dental schools in your area they should be able to work on your teeth for a minimal cost or none at all

Should I bother to get dental insurance , I have a tooth that needs a crown, and?

a chipped back tooth, and altogether it might cost me less than the insurance policy, and when you get this insurance you have to wait a year before you can even have a complex procedure such as a crown etc....So they'd be making me wait about a year to even get the fillings I need, I also need a crown, and I have a back tooth that is chipped. I also need a bridge and 2 artificial teeth installed. What should I do?

dental insurance for non traditional student?

I am a 30yr old, full time student. I do not have any medical insurance what so ever & now I need to go to the dentist. Does anyone know of a provider IN GEORGIA?
--------------------
I obtained dental insurance thru compbenefits.com. They have 2 programs available in my state of Texas as well as Georgia I believe. I needed extensive work done. My benefits began the very next month even on major procedures. The only catch is that I had to agree to keep them for one year. I love them so far. No problem. Prompt payment. It was only $15 a month too.
