My health insurance premium is $249 every three months is this good?

The insurance covers major/medical..dental...eye exams....chiropractor services...message therapy etc...should I complain about the 100 dollar increase?? This particular plan used to be $150.00 every three months but now has increased to $249.00.
--------------------
you should move to the UK. We get nearly all of that for free :) Real shame the USA rejected the idea of starting a national health system like ours, it must be awful for all those people who can't afford to pay or get insurance.

Dentist charged my husband $382 for white fillings vs mercury ones?

Doesn't that seem a little high. The bill gave three amounts and total for two "small" fillings ended up being $382. I can't imagine how that can be. We do not have dental insurance and that really hurts. Just wondering what your dentists charge for white vs silver fillings.
--------------------
From my experience of working for a dentist one is charged by the number of surfaces not the size of a filling. A molar has Five different surfaces And you can conceivably be charged for five surfaces if the cavities are small. Composite fillings cost more than traditional amalgam fillings. A traditional amalgam is stronger than composite fillings and last far longer than composite fillings. I don't know the reason for your husband to decide on composite fillings over amalgam fillings. But I've guess since you call them mercury ones, I'm guessing it's the theory that any mercury in a traditional amalgam will leach out into your body. However amalgam fillings are very safe. What small amount of mercury present in amalgam fillings binds with other chemicals present in the filling and forms a very stable bond. What "might" leach into the body is far less than what is considered safe to be exposed to.

air force insurance?? ???????

* im leaving for BMT next week but i have a problem my i wearing tooth?? can they fix it ryt away immediately after i took off the plane?? *does my insurance including dental going to cover my family too??
--------------------
Your family is NOT covered for Dental. You must purchase it through United Concordia. It is $27.00 per month for your family. There are limits to what it covers and how much it covers. For example, it covers 2 cleanings a year at 100% but braces are paid at 50%. When you sign up (you do it online at the website) you will be sent an info packet stating what is covered and for how much. As far as your own dental problems, they will take care of it in Basic if it is an Emergency otherwise, at your first duty station. NOTE: If you are stationed OCONUS, your family is seen on-base and everything is covered at 100%

is AETNA a good health insurance to get?

my benefits package came from work, it offers medical from Aetna is that a good health insurance provider? What about Guardian Plan ppo for Dental??
--------------------
It's hard to say if Aetna is offering a good plan. Aetna themselves is a great company! It depends on the package that you're being offered. Aetna could offer 100 different plans. You need to look at what the plan covers, your deductible, your out of pocket maximum. That will tell you if it's a good plan.

Western Dental billed me AGAIN after I paid off the contract?

About a year ago, I had a blue shield insurance with dental. After review my file I had a contract for 675$ to pay off and my insurance should take care of the 900$ left. I signed the contract and got a crown on a molar. My experience with them was terrible, bad service my crown broke on the 1st day and I had to get another one ( at their expense they said). So I finished paying everything off this month, THEN i get slapped with another bill of 759$! I called and they said that my insurance only covered 144$!! Now that I think back, I canceled my blue shield insurance about 3-4 months ago, is this why I'm being billed AGAIN? I phone Western Dental and said that it's possible that my insurance decided to underpay. Anyone ever been in this situation? I would hate to pay another 800$ out of my pocket! I am a broke student
--------------------
I would check with your dental insurance. Sometimes they find a billing error and they decide not to cover a treatment when you should be covered. Good luck!

I have a loose cap on one of my top teeth. Does anyone have an estimate of how much a dentist would charge?

to fix this? I've heard of using over the counter adhesives, but its sort of scary to remove it all the way myself......my dental insurance doesn't kick in til April and I am a little concerned about the cost. thanks
--------------------
If it is just loose, with no decay, your dentist may be kind enough to recement it at no charge. If he did not perform the original procedure or if it is a very old restoration he may charge you anything between $50.00-$100.00. However, if the crown is not restorable or if there is decay underneath, you may need another crown. At least go get an exam. It may even be no charge.

Are there tests to determine if you need a root canal? If not, how do they know if you need one?

Before Christmas, I had an amalgam removed due to deterioration. There was decay underneath and it was drilled away and filled with compositve. Thereafter, I had slight pain only when eating crunchy foods. It did seem to get better or perhaps, I just got used to it. Now, they have removed it, put in a temporary filling, and are going to fill it again next week if I don't have any pain. If I do have pain, they are considering a root canal. Since the pain is minimal, are there other tests to determine if a root canal is necessary? Or, is pain the only factor? I hate to go that route if it's not necessary. But, if it is, I would like to have it taken care of now while I have dental insurance as well as a temporary filling. Can any dentists advise me about what the determining factors for a root canal are? And, do you recommend another composite or amalgam for my lower molar? Thanks so much for any advise! =)
--------------------
The tooth should be checked with dry ice or an electronic pulp tester. A painful response to either one would indicate the need for you to have a root canal. After the root canal, the tooth should be refilled with "either filling material" and then crowned to prevent fracture.

are there dental schools in the los angeles area that need patients?

i need a lot of work done and my insurance only covers some of it .. thanks for answering
--------------------
UCLA and USC are the dental schools in LA. There is also one in Loma Linda if you are closer to there. And all dental schools are usually more than happy to get new patients.

can i get a retainer in another state?

i have lost my bottom retainer for the second time. it's only been 1 or 2 weeks, and i am going out of state this weekend. i was wondering if i could just go to the local orthodontist where i'm visiting and present them with my dental insurance card if i'll be able to get a new retainer if they do impressions also. i don't want to comment this to my mother, who will not be going out of state with me, so i was wondering if i could use this opportunity. thanks.
--------------------
This can be done, but you must remember that there are limitations to how many plates can be done on your insurance, if there are no limitations, then it should not be a problem. Your mum will find out about this as she does get statements of treatment done on the insurance.

I have a crossbite, how long will I have to wear braces?

Hi, I have a slight crossbite, my middle teeth on the top and bottom don't allign. The rest of my teeth are pretty much straight, except for one molar that got turned around as it grew in, but everything else in my mouth is okay. Sometimes my crossbite causes slight discomfort in my jaw, and the dentist said that could lead to serious problems as I become older. I went to an orthodontist two years ago for a consultation, but we didn't do anything then, because my parents didn't have dental insurance at the time. I am in 8th grade, and I was wondering if anyone knew how long I would have to wear braces, and what else I would have to have done with my mouth, such as headgear, retainers, rubberbands, etc. (you can barely see any problem with my teeth unless you get really close to my mouth, but I have to get it fixed because it can couse tmj and all that stuff) thanx!!!
--------------------
It will take approx. 2 years. You'll have to wear rubber bands, which aren't bad. Most dentists don't do head gears anymore. You will definitely have a retainer that you will have to wear after you get your braces off. Your teeth will move if you don't wear them, but most orthodontists can now do a bonded retainer that you don't have to take on and off. It'll be fun!

Would you stay at the current job or the new offer?

Your at a job now that is 36,000 a year paid semi weekly with only medical insurance, no dental or vision, retirement, 10 days all together for everything (sick, vacation, etc...) IIn two months it makes a year of you being employed with the company. It is 20 minutes away from your house. Then you are offered a job at 38,000-40,000 a year being paid bi-weekly. It has full medical, dental and vision, tuition reimbursment, 2 weeks vacation, 10 sick days. 45 min away from your house.
--------------------
I would take the new job, with the great insurance. Also, the tuition reimbursement is awesome. I am paying off a 40k student loan I wish I had that. Take advantage of it.

How long does it take to recover from having a tooth removed?

I need some help... about a year ago I had a root canal done, and when the D.A went to put a cap on my tooth it was EXTREMELY painful and I couldn't let them continue so i've had my tooth exposed with just the filler ( i guess that's what it is) anyway now I want to pass out with this pain ( it also just looks gross) someone please help on what to do, it hurts.. p.s- no dental or medical insurance..
--------------------
After a root canal is completed, you should have NO feeling in the tooth. So the fact that is was extremely painful (when the cap was being put on), makes me think that you weren't given enough time to heal--or that the root canal was botched. And you are still in pain? That root canal wasn't done completely or correctly. You should not be in any pain--unless if an infection has set in--and you'd need antibiotics. Your question is about having a tooth removed? Are you planning on pulling out that tooth that had the root canal?

free or cheap dental work in NY?

I am starting to lose teeth in the front of my mouth. I work 7 days a week at minimum wage, and I have no insurance. If I lose my teeth I am afraid that I will be even less employable than I am now... does anyone know how I can find free or very cheap dental work to help my situation? I live near Albany, NY, but I can travel to someplace within 200 miles. Thanks!
--------------------
The best place to go would be a dental school. I am sure that there are a few in the greater NY area. Just Google US dental schools and see what comes up.

Adding husband to insurance...to do or not to do?

Ok, when I get married in August, it will cost me almost $400 a month for the both of us to be covered. Right now, just for me, it costs less than $100. This is for dental, vision and health insurance. It is worth it or should we look into other options? He has no options for insurance at his job and this is the cheaper plan at my job. Im in great health, and right now he is but hes a smoker and unhealthy eater(not overweight at all, however).
--------------------
For a couple to have dental, vision, and medical insurance for $400 a month - that's pretty darn cheap! I pay over $300 a month for just ME for medical and dental. Honestly, no one should be without health insurance in this day and age. Studies show that the majority of bankruptices are caused by medical bills. You can explore other options, but I don't think you're going to find anything cheaper.

Medical bills with no insurance?

I went to the emergency room after having pain in my side for a week a few months ago. They did standard tests, including CAT scan, and they said they didn't find anything serious. A week later I received a bill for over 5 thousand dollars. I sent them what they requested for a payment plan (bank statements, etc). I am willing to repay this debt but the problem is I have no medical insurance and I am a full time graduate student. I plan to graduate in june of 08 and hope to get a job soon afterwards. I am living off of a student loan but any money I have left over every month I would like to save for an emergency (car repairs, dental bills, etc) that may come up. My question is, do you think the hospital would allow me a moratorium (suspension of payments) until I graduate and secure a job (which would be in june of 08)? I am just afraid that if I can't pay them now they will sue me or take me to court.
--------------------
Alot of hospitals have an account with money in it for people like you. Ask to talk to a patient advocate and take it from there. AQlso pay 5 dollars a month. They say that is not acceptable but you are making some effort. Also go into the accounts office and talk to them. They can't tell what your circumstances is until you tell them. I wish you the best. liz

if 2 million american kids have no health insurance or not enough, what would Republicans want done about it?

compare that with what Democrats would want done about it? Which is the right thing to do and why? I am talking about good insurance so that good preventative health care can happen, including dental and vision and regular routine doctor visits etc..
--------------------
This conservative would say if you can't afford a kid, don't have it. And for god sakes, stop pressuring me to help pay for them.

Medical Insurance Payments?

is it right to be paying for health insurance (health, dental &eye) from an employer and not have the coverage details? Like our company just signed up for new dental & vision October 1st. The benefits went into affect Nov 1st...but we have no cards, no group number, nothing! I dont think its right that we're paying for all this coverage if we have no info on if we can use these benefits and where. Im desperate to get my eyes checked, ive been waiting for coverage since march...and the HR girl said the eye coverage hasnt even been processed yet...how can i go about bringing this up or getting money back??
--------------------
I would talk to the head of Human Resources and tell them that you want the insurance to stop being pulled out of your check until all the paper work is done and tell her you either want a refund on the money that has already been taken or to get additional weeks with nothing taken out to make up for the month and a half worth of payments with no insurance! I would be furious! What are the other employees saying? Maybe you could get a group together. People tend to do things quicker when they have 5 or 6 after them, rather than just one.

Has anyone had any experience with this Ameriplan work at home thing?

I sent my resume in for some sales job posting on Craigs List. A few days later I'm called by someone for a sales rep job for a Dental "insurance and discount" company that's part of Ameriplan. They said something about up front cost so I assumed it was a MLM scam. ANyone else had experience with this?
--------------------
Hey there! I've been with Ameriplan for 2 1/2 years now. I'm a stay at home mom and was THE most skeptical person before I started this business. I had tried tons of things and wasted 2 years and nearly $4000 before I found this company. I can 100% GUARANTEE you that this is NOT a scam. I get paid daily AND monthly and never once have I not been paid any money that I've been due. I'm a National Sales Director with Ameriplan and I make almost $50,000 a year with them. I have 3 small kids at home so my time is really limited. I work during nap times and usually in the evening after they go to bed. I'd be happy to answer any questions at all that you have about our company and what we do. Upfront costs are very scary but when you do your research and learn that this is NOT a JOB, but a BUSINESS, you can begin to see and understand. We are not working for Ameriplan. We are independent contractors or Business Owners with Ameriplan. We get to take advantage of all the Home Based Business tax deductions at the end of the year so that start up fee that worries you is 100% tax deductible. Most businesses cost thousands and thousands of dollars to open and most people have capital set aside for that or go out and get business loans. Home based businesses are tyipically less expensive because the business is being run from your home and you are absorbing that "office space" cost. You also have a company behind you that is helping you with the cost of your business. It's like a Franchise. Like a McDonald's or a Starbucks. Ameriplan gives us free benefits, websites, support, they handle all our customers for us, they handle our mailing and sending of our benefit packages...so we get tons of benefits and services to run our business with for that minimal cost. To give you a brief run-down of who we are and the benefits you get with us, I'll post this piece - it's a copy and paste from one of the emails that I send to people that are interested in working for us: About AmeriPlan® We are a 16-year old SOLID industry leader (not a 'startup') that has been recognized and featured in: 1) US News & World Report 2) The New York Times 3) Wall Street Journal 4) American Medical Review 5) American Business Review All of our homeworkers receive the following: Daily Pay Residual Lifetime Income - this is where you get paid over and over for work you did once. Right now, most people earn "linear income" which is basically the income you receive working a typical job. You get paid once or twice a month for work you did in that time frame. That's it - one payment - one time. Our business allows you to continue earning over and over for work done once. Free Dental, Vision, Prescription and Chiropractic Plan for their entire household 401K plan Flexible Hours AD&D Insurance Policy Free One-on-one Training and Support Please note that there are over 60,000 people working with us and we don't all train the same nor does everyone provide one on one support. I am with the Freedom at Home Team and we are the fastest growing team in the company. We have INCREDIBLE traning and support. I provide one on one support and mentorship to everyone that works with me. Please feel free to send me a message with any of your quesitons.
