Are there any dentist who do work for free in the Baltimore area of Maryland?

My neighbors grandson needs dental work, He has a minimum wage job and no health insurance and he needs to have all teeth pulled. He tried Univ. Of MD dental school and that is way too expensive. Can anyone help? I am willing to help pay a little, but I am no where near the $5,000 that he was quoted at U of M dental school.
--------------------
That amount of money seems very high for the dental school with the students treating the patient. ($5,000 is close to what someone in private practice would charge for the extractions and denture). It could be that he got into the wrong department and that is the price quoted if a faculty member does the procedures. Your neighbor should try again and make sure that he gets a quote from the undergraduate student clinic. If in fact that is correct, there are usually indigent dental clinics that people qualify for. If you call the county department of health or the state board of dentistry, they should have a list of clinics that perform free or reduced fee dentistry. It is extremely nice of you to be concerned with your neighbor's grandson. Good-luck with your quest.

Sorry, but health insurance is very expensive, and pre-existing conditions make it harder. You can stay on your parents until age 26...which is probably the best way for now.

Should I try to save my uppers or just get dentures?

I am already missing my front two top teeth and one top one on the side. I have fillings in all of the top teeth already and now the dentist is recommending that I continue to try to save them...but I have at least 4 new cavities and that is without even looking at ex-rays. I am so tired of spending money on dental work b/c I have no insurance. He says dentures are a bad idea, but I am so tired of not wanting to smile..(even with a partial, I am to paranoid to really smile)..Just looking for advice or experiences. By the way I am only 27. Thanks.
--------------------
Well, I would suggest trying to keep your teeth. I know it gets old, but there is nothing like your own teeth. Think about trying to chew with plastic teeth! You are so young, I would do anything I could to save my teeth. Have you looked into Care Credit?? They have a 12 mo no interest payment plan if that's something you may be interested in. You can check it out at www.carecredit.com. Just some helpful advice........stay away from soda =). Between the sugar & the acid it's one of your teeths worst enemies. Good luck =)

do i need to cancel it?

at my x job, i had insurance with the company ,where they were payin 70percent and i was payin 30%. do i have to cancel the insurance or is it automatically cancel when i leave the job. am talking about health and dental insurance.
--------------------
It is automatically canceled. You should receive a letter from them, usually within 30 days of leaving, telling you you are eligible for COBRA coverage. It will be the same coverage you had before except you'll pay 100% of the premium.

Dental records protected by HIPAA laws?

I am a 26 yr old married woman. I went to my dentist and didn't have insurance, so I had a little trouble paying my bill. Anyways, the dentist ended up sending my bill to my dad, in his name, to his address. He was sending it to my address in my name, but after I didn't pay it for a month, he sent it to my dad. Isn't this a HIPAA violation?? Thanks!

Yes, Absolutely!!

I have 3 shih tzu dogs. 11yrs, 7yrs and 4 yrs. What pet insurance is there for my oldest?

My 11yr old is a neutered male and has teeth problems. He never lost all of his baby teeth. The Vet wanted to pull the 5-6 teeth at $170 a piece. I know it's really important to keep their teeth clean...so, I need pet insurance on him. My 7yr old was a neglected dog when I adopted her 6 yrs ago. She's very hyper and panics alot. She has had seizures. The vet I saw before prescribed her some valium for her seizures. That helped alot. My 4yr olad gets sick in the car, so the past vet RX'd acepromazine and that worked well. I've been looking for a new vet because this one is SOO expensive, but, when i call around to the different vets and tell them about the dogs and that two are on meds, I've had one say "well, we don't give out meds to dogs unless we develop a personal relationship with them"....what if the dog is diabetic? Do they have to wait to get to bond before the dog gets his medication? Is this normal and where should I look or pet insurance for older dogs that include dental.? Thank you~

petsmart has a great pet insurance i had it for my own dog and they also do dental so go check it out

If I have dental insurance already, but it doesn't cover braces, what are my options for coverage?

I have dental coverage through my employer with Delta Dental. I just found out that it does cover orthodontics, but only for a dependent of mine up to the age 19. I'm 21 and if I wanted braces, I wouldn't be covered. I won't be getting them for a while anyways as I have some work that needs to be done beforehand, but I was just wondering what my options would in terms of getting some kind of coverage somewhere else JUST for the Orthodontics, while still having my Delta Dental coverage or what I should do when the time comes for me to get them. Thanks!

Does anyone have aetna dental insurance! pleas anser?

if you do my braces will be costing my parents and i feel bad for them and i wolud like to know if they would cover the cost of my $2000 braces. if not then what portion do they cover! pleas anser
--------------------
I actually had aetna when my braces were put on. My insurance covered a good portion of them but co-pays were very expensive. I remember it being around 100 dollars per visit. This although is a small price to pat considering the cost of braces. call your insurance company and they will be able to tell you exactly how much they will cover.

No Dental insurance and I'm in so much pain!?

Ok, the thing is I have 2teeth that need a root canal or need to be removed, and I can't handle the pain I'm in right now. I've been taking antibiotics for a couple of days, and declined the Vicodin because I didn't think it would hurt so bad, but, it does! and I'm out of Tylonal Extra strength, I've taken 24 of them in the last 3days... It's becoming unbearable... can anyone help me? Can't talk to the dentist cuz it's Sunday. HELP!

No dental insurance afterall, am I in trouble?

I am currently working at a hospital a total of 20 hours a week. You need to work at least 24 hours a week to be elidegable for insurance. My boss said that I would be getting "more hours soon" so I called the hospital and they sent me the paper work for the insurance. Shortly after, I had a root canal done. This root canal cost $807. No crown. I told him about my situation and he said he would hold off on charging me and would see if the insurance would cover it in a few months. Well, the insurance didn't go through after all and I am stuck with the bill which I am hoping my family will help me with. Can I get in trouble for any of this? I am only asking because the secretary keeps calling me and she sounds mean. :-( She doesn't understand what it's like to be a poor college student.
--------------------
Well, you're going to have to pay. So what does "get in trouble" mean? If you don't pay the bill, eventually they'll send it to collections, and get a judgement against you. Then they'll be able to collect interest, too, and get an attachment against any wages - current OR future.

Will dental insurance or california dental plans cover the removal of my braces?

I was wondering if a california dental plan will cover the cost of getting my braces removed. I got them put on last year around July or August and they've only been tightened 2 to 3 times within those months. My mom stopped paying for them because she couldn't afford the monthly anymore and so I want them off now. I can't get them removed at Western Dental, where I originally got them put on because my mom now owes $2,000 plus there. My account there has been sent somewhere else. I went to an orthodontist a few days ago to find out the price of having my braces removed and the cost is around $350. My mom can't even afford that because she doesn't have a job nor does my dad. We aren't currently recieving cash aid because my dad has been recieving cash for unemployment but he stopped getting that this month too. Anyways, with the amount my dad got,$1,000 or less,we still did not have enough to pay for the removal of my braces because there were bills to pay and payment for house rental. Since none of my parents have jobs, will california dental plans cover the cost of the removal of my braces? I really want them off for they have been bothering me for a long time.

I need your help!!!!!! Dental Insurance ?

Hi, I need to get braces but I do not have any insurance, I want to get insurance as soon as possible because the braces are going to cost me $4800. I would like to know if anyone could recommend an insurance, I live in CA I will appreciate any help.
--------------------
Here is the thing, if you get insurance, most have waiting periods and then you will have to wait 6mo to a year to get the coverage for ortho. Also if you poay for insurance you are paying a monthly fee, and still the insurance company only pays up to $1000 - $1500, anyway so you will still have a decent part of that amount to pay. You would end up paying about hte same out of pocket, especially since you will have to pay the total premium yourself. What you could do is get a discount program fro dental like this one at www.myhealthbenefits.com/nicolec and at least you could save on your out of pocket costs. The discount plan is only $14.99 for an individual/$19.99 for family, and comes with the dental plus, vision, chiro, and prescription discount plans. I checked the book there are a lot in CA, that participate with this, maybe your dentist already does. Good Luck!

Dental anxiety hospital made me worse - Scotland UK?

I am a dental phobic. After a few years of expensive private treatment I was advised to go to the dental anxiety hospital in Edinburgh. Generally my experiences were good, but the long waiting list meant that I lost several teeth that otherwise might have been saved and (worst of all) the last two times I visited I was caused the excruciating pain and fear that made me a phobic in the first place. I am now unable to attend the dental hospital as I am frankly too scared to go there (in case they cause me terrible pain again). So I am back with a private practice and I can barely afford it. I cannot get insurance because I need sedation and my dental bill is hugely expensive compared to the dental hospital. What can I do about my predicament?
--------------------
I would save money and go to the USA for dental care. They are way better, have higher standards for dental care and knows what they're doing. Missing a few tooth? No problem.. They'll make fake ones for you and people can't even tell that they're fake.

If you seen a cute girl but then noticed she don't have teeth, how bad would it freak you out or turn you off?

I'm havin the rest of my teeth taken out on Tuesday, but I can't get replacements til about springtime. We don't have dental insurance and not much money. My teeth started gettin really loose a while back and the front ones came out already . What I have left are mostly loose too. I'm 15 and I'm pretty freaked out by the whole deal, my mom is too. I only been to a dentist once before last week but that was like 6 years ago. I'm nervous about Tuesday, but I'm worried that no guys will even want to talk to me.

I'm not gonna lie..it will be tough in the dating scene. Unfortunately people are very superficial. You're very brave though! I don't know if I could do that. Make the best of it. Be confident and people will be attracted to that. Show your inner beauty.

Sonic, Waterpik, Interplak, Oral B power toothbrush?

I want to take better care of my teeth but I'm not sure what products that I should get. I don't have dental insurance so this is something that is a high priority to me. Which of these products do you recommend? Have you seen a difference in using the products? What is something that I should be aware of when using the products? Thanks.
--------------------
Depends on your problems. A Sonicare toothbrush is my favorite. It is one of the only electric toothbrushes proven to knock plaque off your teeth even if you don't get it held right up against the tooth like you should, but the price tag is $100-130. However, it does last several years. My dad just replaced his after 8 years. If you are highly ticklish in the mouth I don't recommend this. If you can't afford this any cheap electric toothbrush is better than a regular one. If you aren't a great flosser, have braces, or gum problems a Water pik is amazing. I prefer Waterpik b/c they have the new cordless handheld which allows you to add mouthwash into the tank and use that for an added cleaning bonus. With these you have to be very careful not to use it on high. Also, you actually point it at your tooth at a 90degree angle. Do not point the water stream directly down into the gums. This can actually tear the ligaments that hold your gums against your tooth. Instead, you want the 90 degree angle which allows the stream of water to pass over the gumline and creates a vacuum action that sucks things out from under the gums. People with braces can go around their brackets with this also.

Dental. Is there a price list for private dental work?

We aren`t interested in insurance plans for dentistry.
--------------------
Just in-case you decide to get yourself a better deal. Shop around but I do know that if you visit your NHS local hospital dentist they too have private patients. The costs I found are usually set for each procedure and are a lot less expensive than a private high street dentist. The other great thing is that the dentist are usually highly skilled and sometimes are skilled in all sort of facial, cosmetic procedures as well as your dentistry. I would certainly compare prices you have nothing to loose. Good luck.

Cosmetic Dentistry Information?

I am going to put porcelain Veneers on my teeth. I'm 18 and I'm basically wondering if I will need my parents insurance card when I go in for an appointment. I am still covered by my parents dental insurance because I'm a full time student. I just don't want to walk in there and look like I don't know what I'm talking about. Is there a certain type of insurance card i will need to bring? Any other vital information you could share with me about this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
