Does medicare pay for eye problems? All of a sudden everything is blurry?

But the United Health Care Secure Horizons lady in our town told me that eyes are NOT covered. How can that be? How can I get another insurance (that I can trust covers everything?) Dental and Vision?
--------------------
Things should not get blurry "all of a sudden". There's a chance you may have had a TIA mini-stroke. See your doctor before you worry about your vision.

Dental care in Nashville area?

Here is my issue, I have an alright job but I have no insurance. I don't have enough to afford my own insurance either and budget is very tight. I need to find some very cheap dental care or a dentist who offers a good payment plan. If anyone knows of anything, please let me know. Thanks!
--------------------
Why don't you go to the State dental school? You will get excellent work done very cheaply. Most dentists have payment plans. They still are a little hard on budgets.

What to do with Insurance Premiums?

I was doing a tax problem and I got stuck at this part, I know I can deduct Daniel and Darcy 8600 of medical expenses on Line 1 of schedule A, but I don't understand what to do with the insurance premium "Daniel and Darcy and their children had $3,200 of medical expenses and $5,400 of dental expense that were not covered by insurance (The family's insurance is provided by Darcy's employer as a part of her fringe benefit package. The value of the insurance premiums for 2008 is $14,500)" just stuck with that to do with the 14,500 of insurance premiums, where do they go on the 1040 ?
--------------------
Insurance premiums for medical care provided by your employer are not deductible on Schedule A as an itemized deduction. Also you cannot deduct insurance premiums paid with pretax dollars because the premiums are not included in your wages (Box 1 of your W2). Only premiums paid with after tax dollars can be deducted as itemized deductions. Remember that medical expenses must exceed 7.5% of AGI to be included in the Schedule A total. $10,000 worth of dental work.... is it worth it?

My husband came home from the dentist to let me know he has to have $10,000 worth of dental work done and that is after insurance pays for what they will. My jaw dropped! He has bad teeth and didn't really go to the dentist as a teen (his mom never took him) and the last 4 years he has not had insurance. He is 22. They are wanting to put 8 crowns in, 2 root canals, and some resin stuff from what I remember the paper saying. My question is, Is it even worth it? Or should he just get dentures? His whole family has a history of bad teeth. From his grand parents down, they all have dentures on both sides of his family from poor teeth. His dad is the only one that has his real teeth.
--------------------
Because he is so young, I think the 10,000 would be an investment. Root canals will save his those teeth. I understand your delima though, honey. 10 grand is a lot to wrap your head around . Maybe getting a second or third opinion would help, because some dentists will tell you there's problem that HAS to be fixed when there isn't even a problem at all. For example, I was told once I had 8 cavities, and the next dentist I went to only found 1. But because he's 22, I think the best choice is to get a few more professional opinions and then try to work on getting the problems corrected. and if its more cost effective, and he's okay with the idea, dentures could be the way to go. But dental health is far more important than people seem to realize (myself included) and if if these problems aren't corrected, it could potentially cause other health problems for him later on down the road. I say get a few more opinions, and see if the prices vary.

Insurance for the self-employed.?

My husband is self employeed and we are looking for an insurance plan that will cover medical for the family, dental & vision. But we don't want to go bankrupt trying to get affordable insurance.
--------------------
OK, the average family plan costs about $1200 a month. Not including dental and vision - which for the most part, cost more than they pay out. If you want to take a big deductible, you can cut that premium down. But if you're looking for a $300 a month plan, for the whole family, it's not out there. It doesn't exist. You should talk to his agent, and get a referral to a health specialist, to get an idea of deductibles vs. premiums in your area.

Is it possible to recieve free medical care?

I just got into an accident and I dont have any health insurance. I got pretty banged up and my bills could total $10,000. Does anyone know of any programs out there that can help or provide free medicare? Or is there anything from the state or federal funding that is available to me?? I need oral surgery done and some dental work so i need something that is going to cover that aswell. Any help would be great!
--------------------
Every state has different laws to be eligible for Medicaid, so check with almost any hospital for the rules. It will depend on income level and property you own, or any thing else of value.

How to write a convincing letter to employee?

You are a manager at a large accounting firm. Recently, your insurance provider has offered a new package that you think will be beneficial for your employees and will also save the company money. However, your unionized employees are usually hesitant to allow any changes to their benefits package. You would like to convince them to agree to adopt this new package. The changes to their benefits would include: • Increased yearly allowances for eye glasses • Increased yearly allowances for dental care • Extended benefits for family members • No allowances for homeopathic or massage therapies how to start ??
--------------------
That wouldn't take any convincing. It's usually a reduction in benefits and/or increase in the employees share of the expenses that generate rebellion, resistance or rejection.

How can I disenroll in DEERS?

my husband is UA and I need to drop Tricare because I can get a better insurance that covers medical/dental. They are telling me that I cant cancel DEERS or TRICARE. Why is that?
--------------------
Who is "they"? You don't have to use Tri-Care. You don't have to be enrolled in Tri-Care. Have your husband fill out the paperwork disenrolling you in Tri-Care if that's what you want to do. You DO NOT, however, want to disenroll from DEERS. DEERS is what makes sure you have an ID card. Who told you that you have to drop Tri-Care in order to get another insurance? That's BS. Tri-Care is more than willing to let someone else pay first. In fact, that's what they have to do. If you went to the ER, Tri-Care will be the last insurance company to receive a bill.

Is there anything requiring a daycare to cover costs of medical bills for injuries on their property?

My son was hurt at daycare, on their property and during daycare hours that he is normally there. Hurt bad enough where he had to be taken to dental emergency, not just a scrape on the knee type thing. Our previous daycare always made it clear that any bills you get, bring to them and there insurance would pay for. This daycare hasn't said a word to me about it. Is there something requiring them to pay it or at least help? Anything??

Yes, they were responsible for him!

Deducting Uncovered Dental Expenses on Taxes?

I am trying to figure out what can be considered a deduction for uncovered medical and dental expenses. I have read Topic 502 - repeatedly lol and I am still a bit confused. Okay - my husband and I both wear eye glasses - and do not have vision coverage. Can we deduct these costs? We have two children in orthodontic care (see why I need more deductions lol). Can orthodontic care be deducted? We had approximately $600 in uncovered dental expenses (above or beyond scope of insurance coverage). Are these deductible? The "Topic 502" seems to say yes - but I am deathly afraid of making a tax mistake! Help!
--------------------
The items you mentioned are allowable medical deductions as long as they were paid with after tax dollars. In addition you can deduct the after cost of medical, dental and other health insurance as well as .20 cents per mile for driving to and from the doctor. Also the cost of parking to visit a doctor is a deductible medical cost.

Are Medical Payments tax deductible?

I'm wondering if Co-pays for medical and dental insurance are Tax Deductible? What if I never deducted a $1000 dental procedure from 2007. Can i do it for 2008?
--------------------
You can only deduct expenses in the year that they occur. Sorry. You can only deduct medical expenses if (1) you itemize deductions, and (2) they exceed 7.5 percent of your AGI. For most people, this doesn't happen.

resorting to taking out my own tooth?

I have been between jobs for the past eight months.this means that I have no health or dental insurance. I have tried applying for medicaid & stuff but I dont qaulify since some of the jobs I get pay between $10-$12 an hour.Im in such a bad place, I have been forced to file exempt for my taxes just to make ends meet. well, I have had a bad tooth for the past four months and now it has just got worse.pain killers dont work anymore and it really needs to be taken out.I cant find a volunteer clinic that will take me as a patient beacuse they say I make mopre that $8 an hour so I will need to pay an extraction fee in the $400.00 range. i just cant afford this so I am thinking fo just taking it out myself. does anyone have an idea how I can do this or maybe have an idea of a dental service that will understand my situation. I cant afford regualr fees, right now , my car note , inusrance & registration have not been paid so things are really bad. Help me out with this tooth.Live in Atlanta
--------------------
I was in the same situation you are, however I went and got the tooth pulled last week it cost a total of $259 including X-rays. But now I have an infection in it so i have to go back to the dentist today, I hope she dont charge me extra for this. So if i got an infection while it was professionaly done, then doing it yourself will probally give you a higher chance at getting one. I live in Maryland and the ranges are 100-300. If you tell the dentist not to X-ray you and just pull the tooth out, It will be alot cheaper, they understand that you dont have Insurance.

What to do when your employer will not provide healthcare, although it was promised?

When i took my job as an administrative assistant, my employer stated very clearly that i would have health coverage, but not dental. In 3 weeks it will be a YEAR and he has still not provided me with health insurance. What do I do? I live and work in New York.
--------------------
did you get this offer in writing? was it part of the want ad? if you have no proof this was offered, you're going to have an up-hill battle--especially if its a small company. talk to hr. if that doesn't work, have a frank discussion with your boss. let him/her know exactly what you expect. at the same time, start a job search, girl. that way if things come to a head at your job, you'll have somewhere to go to. when you have another offer let your boss know and give him/her the option of getting you healthcare again. if he/she refuses, pack your desk and get the heck up out of there! for better advice than what you'll get here, call leagal aid: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&resnum… or the better business buearu: http://www.newyork.bbb.org/home2.aspx they can point you in the right direction.

Does Anyone Know About Safeway's Health Insurance Policies?

My husband works full time at Safeway. He's been there for 15 months and we STILL don't have our health insurance. When he first started he was told he'd get his insurance in 3 months, but than the manager that told him that transferred and he was told by another manager that he would get it in 12 months. Well, November rolled around and he was told that he wouldn't get health insurance until 15 months (february) and dental in 18...well, its been 15 months and nothing is being done! And thats not all, I have epilepsy and sometimes my husband needs to stay home with me...but now they're saying that he needs a note from my doctor confirming that I need him home! We can't afford that. Hello!! He works at Safeway and we don't have insurance! We can't afford for me to go to the doctor's every time I have seizures!! I get they're running a business but it doesn't seem right they're demanding note without insurance!
--------------------
First, Safeway must have a written employee policy and benefits manual. What does it say? Second, is your husband in a union? If so, enlist the union's help.

insurance/ages?

ok im just wondering, if you were to open a new business, and when you hire everyone they all have to be at least 18 ( or depending on state laws correct? ) but anyways back on subject do you the owner have to provide insurance for the employee? such as health dental ect.... legal limits of hours that they must get paid for? STATE: Florida Thanks all in advanceage
--------------------
no you do not have to offer insurance or retirement accounts or a pension. you do not have to offer any type of benefits including any kind of paid time off. all you are required to do is pay at least minimum wage for every hour worked by every employee. there are exceptions to minimum wage and overtime laws as well based on the gross revenues of the business, number of employees and type of work performed. all your questions can be answered at: http://www.dol.gov Florida has very few labor laws they for the most part just follow federal laws. for assistance from the Florida Workforce Services: http://www.floridajobs.org/workforce/emp…

Cost for 4X4 braces (4 top and 4 bottom) for an 8 year old?

Our pediatric dentist has recommended that we visit a orthodontist to discuss possible braces on my daughters top 4 and bottom 4 teeth, referred to the braces as "4X4". Has anyone had experience with this as far as price and outcome? My employer does not have dental insurance so we are trying to find out a price. When I contacted the orthodontist they were unable to give me a quote since we have not been seen yet.

Yes they have to see you first for a quote, it depends ont severity of the case

Tooth pain from deep silver filing?

I had a silver filing last Tuesday and the Dentist said it was a deep cavity. I did not have any pain before the filing, but now I get a strong throbing pain periodically. I'm worried that I could have an infection, but I don't want to go back unless this really is the case because I don't currently have dental insurance.
--------------------
If you don't take care of it soon its gonna infect and get worse ,then your gonna need a root canal to clean the roots and get the infected pulp out.

Anyone know the average cost of a power bleaching?

I really need to have my teeth whitened, my next dental checkup is not for almost 2 months. I realize that insurance most likely will not cover this procedure, and would like to have a ballpark idea of the cost before I mention it to my dentist.
--------------------
I am interning for a dentist in NYC this summer. First off you should go to your dentist and discuss different options which might suit you better. Laser whitening is a great procedure but it is not always sucessful or has amazing results. There are different options such as a home whitening kit ( not the 40 dollar cheap crest white strips they dont work very well at all, but the trays that your dentist custom makes for you in the office) which are trays that you wear for 7 days they are a little cheaper than laser whitening. The office i work in is very high tech we use the latest technology called ZOOM 3 its really good about 45 min and its 600 dollars, the whitening trays are 250 for the top and 250 for the bottom teeth 500 dollars total. Make sure that when you get the whitening done the dentist uses the actual ZOOM 3 chemicals, because many dentist substitute the gel that is used to whiten for a generic cheaper substance dont be fooled. Yes you are right cosmetic procedures are not covered by the insurance but i strongly recommend a dental cleaning (prophylaxis) before you do the laser whitening its good for your gums and it gives you a clean palette for the whitening to be more effective. Soo good luck and if you have anymore questions you can email me.
