--------------------
Tricare dental is handled by United Concordia and yes, they will cover fixing your tooth. I am sure there will be a co-pay, but the tooth can get fixed.

How often do dentists make panoramic dental x-rays?

OK when I started going to my current dentist in July 2005, I had a panoramic dental x-ray, which I had never had before and haven't had sense; I was told they were 'updating their records', and were making them of all of their new patients. I have always had the bite-wing x-rays done every year, and was wondering if they make these panoramic dental x-rays on a regular basis, or just when needed, or what? I'm 22, have been to two other dentists in my lifetime and have never had one of these made before so I'm assuming they're just for special things only? I'm asking, because I won't have dental insurance until 2008 and am wondering if I'm due one of these things when I have my regular x-rays done this or next summer. Thank you!
--------------------
In general, every 3-5 years. Sometimes every 2 years, depending. FYI: Panoramic radiographs show all your jaw (both upper and lower) in one image. They are good for an "overall" view, and especially helpful in creating a "baseline" for a patient. That is, when I have a new patient, especially one your age, I like to have a "pan" because it tells me a few things that bitewing radiographs or even a full mouth series cannot: -condition of your jaw in general Are tumors present? And if there is some sort of bone irregularity, looking at 2-3 pans taken over a decade is a nice way to determine and track changes -condition of wisdom teeth (presence or absence, position/orientation,...) -in kids, it shows the developing teeth as well, giving a bit of a window into the future Are there lots of extra teeth? Are there teeth missing? Are the teeth developing ok, but perhaps more slowly than the normal? All of these factors help me as a general dentist gather as much information as I can, to give you as accurate a diagnosis as I can. Too, the information pans provide help me determine if and when a referral to a specialist is warranted. You mentioned that you will not have insurance again until 2008. Don't forget that should you decide to change dentists, you can always request a copy of all your radiographs, thereby decreasing the likelihood that the new dentist will need to repeat films.

Good Dental Insurance - help?

I am having problems with some of my teeth. My overall teeth are pretty good. I have a cavity in one of my back teeth because my wisedom teeth came on and pushed that tooth forward making it hard to brush. It is very expenisve to go to a dentist. All dental plans I have seen either have waiting periods for major things or I can get coverage until october. What should I do. Do cavities spread?

does anyone know what would happen with the insurance for my braces if i moved to florida?

we live in new jersey. and my parents wants to move to florida but are concerned about my dental insurance for my braces. my treatment isn't quite done yet. does anybody know what would happen with that? is it hard to get dental insurance in florida?
--------------------
MOST insurance is through the employer. IF you move to Florida and it is a different employer you lose all insurance and start over with the NEW employer ASSUMING he can even get a job. Finding a job is not easy in this economy. MOREOVER, most insurance does not cover PRE-EXISTING issues. This means you should either check everything out very carefully with the new job in Florida BEFORE moving or wait to move until the dental issues are finished.

Dental Insurance Help?

I need to get dental inurance fast, need major work done... :( What is a good one that dont cost that much and is a PPO and no waiting period???? Please help
--------------------
ugh, these spammers are killing me. Look, this is your best value, you can shop around all you want. It's a new product called DentaCard. It's $49, was created solely to help people make dental visits more affordable and there is no waiting period, you get 20-50% off and you can combine it with financing in most situations (so you get the discount then you finance whatever you can't pay). All these other spammer's plans are 19.95 a month or 12.95 a month, or 99.95 per year (and that's for 1 person!), DentaCard is $49 with no fees and it'll last you 12 months. Also, those other "so-called plans" have hardly any dentists because they are crap, sorry to say, no good dentists want to participate in a plan if they are giving away free cleanings or what not...our plan has legit doctors because the plan isn't crap and the good dentists participate with us. DentaCard has contracted with 81,000 dental access points, you can use your card at any of those dentists! check it out and let me know if you have any questions http://www.dentacard.com

My dental insurance won't pay?

Hello, I got braces on March 4th and on April 28th I quit the job I was working for and got hired somewhere else. My previous insurance isn't paying the $1,500 it was supposed to now, because my policy is cancelled. But I had the insurance plan for about 2 months after I got my braces put on. It just doesn't seem fair to me. Is this legal?
--------------------
Yes. Braces get paid for, over a two year period. You can't START the braces, quit the coverage, and expect them to keep paying over the next two years.

allstate dental insurance?

my son has an appointment today. should I even bother going if I only have about $50? will they charge me hundreds and take off $20 for that insurance? when I went in for a prescription they charged me $200 and took off $10 for my benefits I just laughed at them and said I can't pay that!!! should I bother going?
--------------------
You definitely should not just skip out and not go. Why don't you call the dental office and ask them what it should cost for today's visit? Let them know your situation and see what they say. It can't hurt. And depending upon why your son is going today will have something to do with whether or not you should go? If you are interested in an alternative or additional option to add with what you already have, go to this site and check it out. http://www.mybenefitsplus.com/40398854 I personally use the plan and love it! Good Luck!

Dental and Vision insurance?

I am a student and looking to buy some heath insurance, or just dental and vision insurance. I have no idea which one is the best or where to start. I know with vision I want most of it to be covered, if not all including contacts. For dental, I would like a plan that includes orthodontics included, if not all 50% would be great. Any idea where I can get those things?
--------------------
As a student, if you are not working full time, your greatest likelihood is to try to stay on your parent's insurance through their employer. Some universities offer health ins. programs for their students, but they are generally basic health with perhaps dental and vision, but not likely to cover braces or anything like that. Otherwise, try to get a job with benefits. Looks like you are getting a first hand experience as to why your education is so important. Good luck and keep it up.

I'm adding my newborn to my insurance, does she need dental coverage?

I'm not sure how soon she will need it, she is 5 weeks old. if not now, when should I add her approximately?
--------------------
You should add her when she's 2-3 years of age. It's a waste of money to have her on the policy when she doesn't even have teeth :)

My dental insurance company does not pay for orthodontics treatment since i am over 21...?

Is there any way I can get some sort of reimbursement for getting braces since they are sooooooo expensive. The dependant-only rule is pure BS if you ask me, everyone should get assistane, not just kids.
--------------------
Unlike the previously mentioned implants, which by the way can be very esthetically pleasing if sized properly(not too big), orthodontic treatment has several functional , as well as cosmetic benefits. Your insurance carrier is very narrow minded in my opinion if they donot have a benefit for ortho treatment at any age.

dental health insurance.?

my husband needs to get dental implants with dentures through aspen dental he has no insurance so i'm looking to find a company that pays for this kind of thing. any ideas where i find this info or any companies that pay for it. the whole thing is gonna cost b/t 8 or 9 thousand.
--------------------
Sounds as if a good discount dental plan would help you out here. It is rather late to get dental insurance, as there are waiting periods and annual limits, which in your case would be used up in one visit to the dental office. Dental Discount Plans do not have the limitations that are associated with dental insurance, so you can get the dental work done and receive a discount too. You will want to review the dental fee schedule below to see how much you would save by having AmeriPlan Dental Plan. More info at website:

Stinky Dead Tooth! No Dental Insurance! Any Thoughts?

A tooth of mine was given a root canal 2 years ago and needs an extraction. However I have no insurance and the tooth is just sitting there dead and rotting. Ew. Now I am getting very self conscious that the tooth has an odor, and want to figure out some way to deal with this. I cannot afford to go to the dentist....anyone have any thoughts on the home treatment of a dead tooth's odor? Thanks!
--------------------
there really is no remedy for that besides either pulling out yourself, which is dangerous, incredibly painful and stupid, or going to see a dentist. Try to save up some money and find a dental school near you. they usually charge less for these procedures. Other than that just use a lot of mouthwash and chew lots of sugarfree gum.

How do I get insurance with kids and no job?

I got laid off a year ago and still can't find a job. I work random farmhand jobs every now and then to make ends meet. My health insurance from my layoff package is about to expire. My wife is still part time until they decide to hire her full time so she doesn't get any benefits. I have 2 boys that I am worried about if something happens. Is there anyway to find health insurance/ dental. I tried a few places like BC-BS and they wanted an arm and a leg.
--------------------
I really can't answer your question because I live in Canada & our medical system is different than yours. I just wanted to give you some words of encouragement because I understand the kinds of frustrations you must be feeling. Sometimes we get stuck into a certain way of thinking and we don't realize we are limiting ourselves and keeping the things we want to happen from happening. Go rent this movie that is called "The Secret" it is a documentary and I promise you it will change your life.

Health, Dental Insurance and divorce?

I've been married for 4 years and 9 months, and now I am going to get divorced by mutual agreement. I don't have health insurance but my husband does. After divorce, can I bargain half the time of the duration of the marriage, to keep been covered.
--------------------
If your husband works for a company with 20 or more employees and you both have group health insurance through the employer than the COBRA laws dictate that you will be eligible for a COBRA group continuation plan for at least 18 months. This is not dependent upon any type of divorce decree this is law so do not feel as if you have to bargain to be able to get onto the COBRA plan. However, you may want to bargain to get him to pay for some of the premium cost as COBRA (and all group health insurance) is rather expensive. If you are somewhat healthy then it almost always makes sense to save some money and purchase a much cheaper individual health insurance plan. Here is some more information on COBRA plans and your rights:

If Mercury is bad for us, why don't insurance companies pay for resin fillings?

I pay my dental insurance company far too much money for them to only cover amalgam fillings on the back teeth. Don't they know that they are bad? Shouldn't they have to follow certain health guidlines?
--------------------
Resin (composite) fillings are paid for by some insurance companies. The reason some insurance companies will not pay for posterior composite fillings is that evidence shows that these posterior composites do not last as long or hold up as well as the silver (amalgam) restorations. Silver amalgam does contain mercury, however it has been researched extensively to the safety and durability of its use as a restorative material.
