Trying to figure out dental insurance ? I have a 25.00 annual deductible and a 1500.00 annual maximun. What?

does that mean???
--------------------
An annual deductible is the amount that the patient (you) are responsible for paying, before your insurance kicks in. $1,500.00 annual maximum is the maximum amount your insurance will pay, per year for your dental expenses.

Claiming Dental on 2007 Taxes ? I have no insurance and pay eveything.?

If I get a statement from the dentist office can I deduct it? I was using turbo tax and saw medical / dental when I was filling everything out. I have a couple of hundred dollars from getting things fixed this year and not having insurance. Thanks
--------------------
You can only get a deduction for medical expenses if you itemize all your deductions rather than taking the standard deduction. Even if you do itemize, you can only deduct the amount of your medical expenses that are greater than 7.5 percent of your AGI. For most people, it's simply not enough to bother with.

Where can I find inexpensive dental care in the Killeen, Texas area? Need work done, have very little money.?

I have no dental insurance, need to have some teeth pulled, including wisdom teeth. Hoping there is a Dental school nearby that offers free/low cost care.
--------------------
Call up a dentist and ask if he knows of a low cost or sliding scale clinic in the area. Sometimes dentists will donate work to low income people and there might be a free dental clinic that you can go to. If the first dentist doesn't know then try another one.

A family member needs alot of dental work done as well as oral surgery and has no insurance and no money, I?

I am concerned that an infection will really cause some other serious health conditions. What are the options for him. Where in Western pa can he get help.
--------------------
THE ONLY OPTION THEN IS A DENTAL SCHOOL WHERE THE COSTS ARE ABOUT HALF OF REGULAR PRICES.

what programs are out there for dental help for a single mom that hasn't any insurance?

I have missing teeth and need them fixed. Can afford a whole lot.
--------------------
Some states have Assistance programs (Medicaid-type) that help those unable to buy traditional insurance. Try your local human services office. Also, many communities have health centers- many of which also provide dental care. Check out this website, enter your state and town and go from there. http://ask.hrsa.gov/pc/ Good luck!

Is their any dental schools out there that is willing to pull teeth and replace with?

dentures and little to no cost. I lost my job and insurance. Even when I had dental insurance the last dentist I seen said all my teeth need to come out and replaced with dentures but even with the insurance I could not afford the cost above what the insurance would of paid.
--------------------
No cost might be an issue, but I'm sure there should be a significantly reduced cost option. Good Luck

Dental and Vision insurance?

I am a student and looking to buy some heath insurance, or just dental and vision insurance. I have no idea which one is the best or where to start. I know with vision I want most of it to be covered, if not all including contacts. For dental, I would like a plan that includes orthodontics included, if not all 50% would be great. Any idea where I can get those things?
--------------------
As a student, if you are not working full time, your greatest likelihood is to try to stay on your parent's insurance through their employer. Some universities offer health ins. programs for their students, but they are generally basic health with perhaps dental and vision, but not likely to cover braces or anything like that. Otherwise, try to get a job with benefits. Looks like you are getting a first hand experience as to why your education is so important. Good luck and keep it up.

I'm adding my newborn to my insurance, does she need dental coverage?

I'm not sure how soon she will need it, she is 5 weeks old. if not now, when should I add her approximately?
--------------------
You should add her when she's 2-3 years of age. It's a waste of money to have her on the policy when she doesn't even have teeth :)

My dental insurance company does not pay for orthodontics treatment since i am over 21...?

Is there any way I can get some sort of reimbursement for getting braces since they are sooooooo expensive. The dependant-only rule is pure BS if you ask me, everyone should get assistane, not just kids.
--------------------
Unlike the previously mentioned implants, which by the way can be very esthetically pleasing if sized properly(not too big), orthodontic treatment has several functional , as well as cosmetic benefits. Your insurance carrier is very narrow minded in my opinion if they donot have a benefit for ortho treatment at any age.

dental health insurance.?

my husband needs to get dental implants with dentures through aspen dental he has no insurance so i'm looking to find a company that pays for this kind of thing. any ideas where i find this info or any companies that pay for it. the whole thing is gonna cost b/t 8 or 9 thousand.
--------------------
Sounds as if a good discount dental plan would help you out here. It is rather late to get dental insurance, as there are waiting periods and annual limits, which in your case would be used up in one visit to the dental office. Dental Discount Plans do not have the limitations that are associated with dental insurance, so you can get the dental work done and receive a discount too. You will want to review the dental fee schedule below to see how much you would save by having AmeriPlan Dental Plan. More info at website:

Stinky Dead Tooth! No Dental Insurance! Any Thoughts?

A tooth of mine was given a root canal 2 years ago and needs an extraction. However I have no insurance and the tooth is just sitting there dead and rotting. Ew. Now I am getting very self conscious that the tooth has an odor, and want to figure out some way to deal with this. I cannot afford to go to the dentist....anyone have any thoughts on the home treatment of a dead tooth's odor? Thanks!
--------------------
there really is no remedy for that besides either pulling out yourself, which is dangerous, incredibly painful and stupid, or going to see a dentist. Try to save up some money and find a dental school near you. they usually charge less for these procedures. Other than that just use a lot of mouthwash and chew lots of sugarfree gum.

How do I get insurance with kids and no job?

I got laid off a year ago and still can't find a job. I work random farmhand jobs every now and then to make ends meet. My health insurance from my layoff package is about to expire. My wife is still part time until they decide to hire her full time so she doesn't get any benefits. I have 2 boys that I am worried about if something happens. Is there anyway to find health insurance/ dental. I tried a few places like BC-BS and they wanted an arm and a leg.
--------------------
I really can't answer your question because I live in Canada & our medical system is different than yours. I just wanted to give you some words of encouragement because I understand the kinds of frustrations you must be feeling. Sometimes we get stuck into a certain way of thinking and we don't realize we are limiting ourselves and keeping the things we want to happen from happening. Go rent this movie that is called "The Secret" it is a documentary and I promise you it will change your life.

Health, Dental Insurance and divorce?

I've been married for 4 years and 9 months, and now I am going to get divorced by mutual agreement. I don't have health insurance but my husband does. After divorce, can I bargain half the time of the duration of the marriage, to keep been covered.
--------------------
If your husband works for a company with 20 or more employees and you both have group health insurance through the employer than the COBRA laws dictate that you will be eligible for a COBRA group continuation plan for at least 18 months. This is not dependent upon any type of divorce decree this is law so do not feel as if you have to bargain to be able to get onto the COBRA plan. However, you may want to bargain to get him to pay for some of the premium cost as COBRA (and all group health insurance) is rather expensive. If you are somewhat healthy then it almost always makes sense to save some money and purchase a much cheaper individual health insurance plan. Here is some more information on COBRA plans and your rights:

Is this considered preventative dental treatment?

I've worn away some gum at the base of several teeth from brushing too hard; they're kind of deep so my dentist wants to fill them. He said I could have problems from the blood vessels constricting. So is this considered a preventative service? I'm asking b/c I don't have dental insurance but if I get it, preventative services don't have a waiting period. Thanks.
--------------------
Nope. Fillings are a basic service. Only x-rays, exams, cleanings, sealants are considered preventative. These are services meant to prevent fillings from needing to be done.

What are names of major Dental Plans?

I am looking to purchase dental insurance for my family because the one I have now sucks. I am trying to find names of major dental insurance companies to find the best plan for my family. Thanks in advance for your help.
--------------------
1. Do not purchase a discount plan because that is exactly what you will get. Not only that, but you'll discover that the doctors that are approved on the discount plans don't give you the service or quality work and care that you want. 2. When looking for benefits that will be covered, make sure that your cleanings and exams are fully paid for. Most all major plans will pay for your entire checkup, but pay attention to what you're allowed with frequency of x-rays. The norm is one set of bitewings per year, and one panoramic/full mouth series every 3-5 years. Besides that, the amount that is usually allowed on crowns and major restorative work is 50%, where your fillings might be covered up to 80% on most plans. 3. I don't know 100% on this part, but it may be difficult to find coverage through a major dental carrier without having your health insurance with them, too. I know where I work, we don't offer dental insurance as a stand-alone product unless you purchase health insurance as well. 4. Some of the best major companies are MetLife, BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, and Humana. Good luck finding a company that meets your needs.

My question involves dental insurance coverage and pre-authorization.?

For example. Say I have coverage through my employer. I go to a dentist for a root canal and ask whether or not my insurance is accepted. I am then told that it is accepted. The work is performed and later I receive a bill for services. I contact the dentist who says there was a problem with your insurance. So I guess my question is, what obligation does the provider have to verify coverage? Is there any recourse after one has relied on a representation that a cetain procedure was covered and it is later discovered that it was not?
--------------------
Unfortunately it is always the responsibility of the patient to be aware of their dental coverage. It should be outlined in the patient's handbook. The provider only has contracting discounts that the are obligated to take. But if a service is not covered there is not obligation to the provider. Even when a service is pre authorized it states that it is only an estimate and is never a guaranty of coverage. Remember there is a difference between "accepting" and insurance plan and coverage verification. Individual services are usually covered at a percent that is set by the employer. A patient is still liable for a difference in the insurance's usual and customary fee and the provider's fee, plus any deductible remaining, in addition to that percent set by the employer. It is possible for a patient to be liable between 30 - 50% of the actual cost of a root canal with an accepted insurance. I manage an endodontic practice, here I always tell them that we accept most insurances though we are only in network and contracted with a few. Even though we accept most insurances this only mean we will accept any payment they make. But say the insurance doesn't respond, We bill the patient. We also state the we only file claims to insurances as a courtesy but again we are not obligated to. I hope this info helps.

How much do Veneers cost, (with out insurance)?

Veneers are teeth that are surgically implanted, and this is what I want instead of getting dentures, and I was wondering how much they cost, and I do not qualify for dental insurance and do not have any other kind of insurance that would cover this either. Thanks for all answers!
