What are my options with my teeth causing so much pain?

Ok this is my deal my upper molars were pulled when I was younger and now the wisdom teeth have come into the spot the molars were. Both wisdom teeth are now cracked and broken and hurt badly. On top of that I have a huge cavity in another tooth and basically the pain can shoot all over the top of my mouth. Once one area stops the next will pick up. I have no dental insurance and desperately need this taken care of as I cant stand the pain this is causing anymore... Please Help!!!
--------------------
You need to address these problems and most likely have extractions (teeth out) if they are as damaged as you say. Find a local dental school that you can be treated at, or a dental clinic that charges you based on your income (sliding scale). Or try to get Care Credit, look on the American Dental Association site for info. Hope that helps JAMRDH -a dental hygienist

Need next day dental coverage!!?

I need to get my husband dental coverage as soon as possible. We've been meaning to get around to getting him dental insurance but have put it off. He has a horrible, horrible pain and needs a root canal. How likely is it to find insurance that will get coverage the next day or next few days?? Anybody know any dental insurance like this? What is the cost of getting a molar root canal without insurance?
--------------------
You can try www.dentemax.com The cost is usually between 500-1000.00 for the root canal and then 500.00-1000.00 for the crown he will need after wards...if he has other molars, my advice is to have it pulled. I am not a dentist but I just went through this last week and you can survive without a molar and can't even see that it is gone when you talk. You can always talk about an implant or a bridge later when you do get coverage. Having my molar pulled cost me 150.00. When I checked into private dental coverage, there was a waiting period for root canals and crowns up to 12 months anyway. As for the pain, I chewed on raw garlic and it seemed to help until I could get to the dentist as well as this stuff called "Kanka" that I found at Walgreens. It is usually for canker sores in the mouth but the stuff is incredible at numbing!! Good luck!!

What are some effective treatments for a tooth abcess?

my sister has an abcess in her tooth and i want to know if there are any treatments over the counter . i need to know if there are any ways to treat this because she doesnt have health/dental insurance? and she is on a very tight budget. Please help! Thanks
--------------------
There is no over the counter way to fix it. And she does need to get it taken care of quickly. But there is a alternative to dental insurance. There is something called a Dental Discount Plan. The difference is that they are cheap (roughly $7 dollars a month) and they start immediately and cover any pre existing condition. It still is going to cost money to get the abscess taken care of, but it can probably help out with quite a bit of the cost. I disagree with Helen G that insurance is the best route for you. For health, yes insurance is the way to go and not a discount plan. BUT with dental, Discount plans are the best way to go in my opinion. Dental Insurance is expensive, has a deductible you have to pay, and they have a low maximum for the year. I had a friend who had both dental insurance and a discount dental plan, and the discount plan was saving him more on procedures than his much more expensive insurance was. So obviously he got rid of the dental insurance and stuck with his discount plan for dental. If you are trying to keep it as cheap as possible the plan at www.1dental.com is the cheapest, and you can pay for the plan monthly, and it normally cuts the price by about 50% or more at the general dentists office. But there are some other good ones that you can check out online. I know that is a lot, but i hope that helps.

I went to the dentist for a 6 month cleaning and oral exam but the cleaning was incomplete.?

It was a couple of days later that I came to realize that my hygienist hadn't even touched my upper teeth. Well I found another dentist but still am disgruntled and feel cheated. I don't have dental insurance. I still think something needs to be said. What would you do?
--------------------
Are you sure you are remembering correctly, and two days later? Why did it take you so long to realize? Did you doze off during the cleaning, I have had patients do that, and be forgetful of other things as well......? If it has been more than a couple of days I would forget about it.

Wal Mart health benifits: Do they cover all or any of the cost of braces?

I have checked on the site under the benifits section but it doesnt really tell you what all the dental insurance covers. Could anyone help me with this?
--------------------
Have you asked your employer? I'm assuming you work for Wal*Mart. Their HR department should know what is and what is not covered. I don't believe any dental insurance covers the cost of braces, but they may be able to negotiate you a reduced price for the cost of braces.

Ok, I had no dental insurance and an EXCRUCIATING, MIND-NUMBING, ALL_CONSUMING toothache for about a month and a half. Then, gradually over about a week, it stopped. Why is this? Is the nerve dead? Could there be an abscess? Will I need to get it removed? AHHHHH! Help! :! ?! Mozmuse

Is thier a dentist that can help me with my teeth?

I am 32yrs old and love to smile! The only problems is that my teeth are in bad shape. I do not have dental insurance because I can't afford to have it taken out of my pay check and still pay my rent! I am however willing to make payments for the work that needs to be done before the dentist does the work. So i guess what I am saying is there a dentist that would be willing to work with me ? I am desperate need for some help.
--------------------
Many dentists offer a payment plan. It can be as low as 15 dollars a month. I am looking around for a dentist that can treat my horrible teeth. Good luck =)

If a filling falls out after a year, does the dentist have to fix it for free?

About a 1 1/2 years ago I had a filling put it, and it came out yesterday while I was flossing. I no longer have dental insurance, and the dentist is telling me that I need to pay for xrays and for the filling to be replaced. Is this right? I mean, he's the one who put in the crappy filling in the first place, so why should I have to pay for it?
--------------------
Fillings don't last forever, and they don't come with guarantees. So you are stuck paying for the work if the dentist insists. I'm a little surprised the dentist didn't offer to let you off the hook, though. He should offer to charge you only for the materials and contribute his labor. Fillings should last much longer than 1.5 years. See whether he's willing to charge you only materials as a good will gesture.

My brother hit a pole and now one of his big front teeth is loose. What do I do?

The tooth is just jutting downwards a little bit. It doesn't move back and forth, but he's able to move it upwards to the original position and back downwards. We don't have dental insurance so what should be our course of action? How much would it cost to fix? Maybe an adhesive or something (Estimate would be nice)
--------------------
Go to your local health department they have dentists on duty who can fix or mend it on the cheap, or free.

Financial assistance for kid who desperately needs braces?

Does anyone know of any financial assistance for a kid who needs braces bad but cannot afford $6000.00 for them. My son has Florida kidcare but his dental insurance does not cover orthodontics. Any ideas?
--------------------
If you can find a dental training school in your nearby area, they can do treatment for training purposes or research for a fraction of the cost.

how likely is it for a dentist to take payment arrangements?

I have two teeth that are extremely painful tonight. They have been broken off in the back of them and there seems to be nerve exposure, guessing by may level of pain! I do not have dental insurance on top of this. Have you ever known of a dentist around Laurens, SC to work with you on making payment arrangements or holding checks til your next payday??
--------------------
There are discount dental plans out there and some are really good, can save you up to 80% on all dental needs. As far as dentist letting you make payments you will just have to find one that will let you. If you don't find a discount dental plan which they are really cheap otu there to get, you will have to get the credit card that they other person mentioned.

How to pay for $25,000 worth of root canals and crowns when you have no money and less-than-perfect credit?

And of course no dental insurance.
--------------------
This may sound radical, but you could have all your teeth pulled and wear dentures. No one real knows it, but people as young as 20 wear dentures. They are a little hard to get used to but Voila no more pain and perfect teeth. Affordable Dentures does it all in one day and they are very reasonable. Less than $ 2,000.00 pulling and dentures. I hope it is not against the rules to mention a business but I feel that this could be something to look into. Taking out a loan to get your teeth fixed could be another solution

Wodsom teeth removal, no insurance.?

So i know wisdom teeth cost alot to remove, i have 2 that are impacted already and no dental insurance. Ive been employed at my job over 2 years and have to wait until the 'open enrollment' period to get insurance in november! My question is, If i got these teeth removed from a dental school how much cheaper would it be? And how do they bill you? monthly? or is it one fat bill? any other suggestions would be great, thanks.
--------------------
Dental schools have their own pricing charts. I would encourage you to visit this great site: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up onlline over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands on all services including my wisdom teeth. I paid only $1000, when I was originally qouted $2000. All services are included in this very very affordable plan. Though prices may differ where you live, but the savings are still incredible. From xrays, exams, cleanings..etc. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use them the very same day. good luck and hope this helps.

Do I have to pay for a dentist office visit?

I have no dental insurance and I have to have a cavity filled next week. I know the cost for the cavity being filled but do you think I have to pay for the office visit as well?
--------------------
Yes they will charge you a level + the cost for filling the tooth. If you are an established patient the level will be a little cheaper than if you are a New Patient (haven't been seen by this Dentist in the past 3 yrs). Sometimes if you tell the Dentist you do not have insurance they will charge you a cheaper level.

Broken molar- no insurance?

I broke a tooth, a molar on the lower left. It doesn't hurt and doesn't seem sensitive to cold or anything. I am concerned though because I have no dental insurance, and I know i'll probably have to eventually go in to a dentist for this. any info/suggestions anyone has would be appreciated. (please, if all you have is a wisecrack, mean answer, etc, please do not waste my time or yours by posting it- it's not cute or funny, just annoying)
--------------------
Try your health department, they usually do it really really cheaply. If you're too proud then check into some financing options, like care credit.

Health Insurance Question?

I got my wisdom teeth taken out last summer, and here is what happened. I turned 23 a week before the operation, and my dental insurance policy ended on my birthday. My dentist's office called the insurance company, and they also did not realize I was not covered, so they told the dentist to go ahead and do the operation because I was covered. Now, 6 months later, they notified me that I was not covered, which is true, but they put me under the pretense that I was covered before the operation. Is the insurance company responsible for telling me I was covered when I wasn't?
--------------------
Nope. You should have been aware that your coverage would be ending as of your 23rd birthday. It was your responsibility to make sure that you scheduled the surgery before your coverage ended. There can be some lag time in updating a system to show a termination, which is why there is always a disclaimer that any quote is subject to the benefits being in effect for the date of services. If your policy was canceled, you have no grounds for an appeal or dispute. Eligibility issues are pretty cut and dried - either your policy was active on the date the services were performed, or it wasn't. Unfortunately, you'll be responsible for the entire bill. Try working out a payment plan with the dentist.

I would like to learn insurance?

I am currenlty working for an insurance company that specializes in insurance for commercial accounts. I'm the receptionist so I really don't do much. I would like to take on more responsibility but here you do not get respect without a liscense. My boss will pay for my classes but I don't know the first thing about insurance. From what I hear we deal with general liability, fiduciary liability, d&o, life, commercial auto, and workers comp. Also we have a dental department. Before I go into my classes I would like to know the basics is there a place online that can help me, or a book I can pick up somewhere? Thanks for the help guys.
--------------------
Get your license right away. Go take the classes that your boss is going to pay for. They are pretty easy. Being that your company handles both P&C and Life, tell them that you want to get both licenses. This will make you more valuable. I think I did my studying through Dearborn, but there are several good companies to use.

I need dental treatment?

Hi everyone. Ive just started going to the dentist i had to sign up to private as couldnt get a place on nhs. I had 2 fillings the other day and it cost me £131.00 (ouch) im need some more work done, do you thing dental insurance would help and if so which is the best dental insurance i should sign up with? Thanks
--------------------
A dentist won't sign you onto any insurance policy until your dental health is up to scratch. That is, you can't get accepted if you have work which needs doing. You get the work done and then sign up...

I don't have insurance and I will soon need dental work and pretty sure my GB surgery.?

I don't have money for a regular doc's visit let alone to have lab work etc done. I don't even have any money to save up for anything like this. I prefer not to use the ER. I have never been to an ER but I know it's way expensive. I know nothing about medical costs or how people go about getting medical things taken care of or even how the ER stuff really works. I haven't been to a doc for like 10 years. Are there any pointers anyone could give me? Any insight? Maybe a possible solution even if it's not the most desirable.
