What dental insurance can I get if my employer doesn't provide any? Cobra Insurance?

I'm a 23 year old bartender and I have no health or dental insurance. I need to get dental insurance but my employer doesn't provide any. I've heard of Cobra Insurance. I was wondering if anyone knows if I would qualify if I have never had insurance. If so, how much does it cost? Thanks
--------------------
Cobra means, staying on your old employer's health plan, at your cost, after you quit or are laid off. This doesn't apply to you. Private dental insurance, I haven't seen any that pay out more than they cost. And health insurance, if you're perfectly healthy and not overweight, a good low/no deductible plan should run you around $250 a month. Talk to a local agent, for local advice, and local recommendations.

Can I have more than one dental insurance plan?

I currently pay right around $2/wk for dental insurance through my employer. It's an "okay" plan that covers the basics, but if you need heavy dental work done, it'll still wind up being very expensive. What I want to know is if I have one plan that covers 25% of a service, can I have two plans that cover a total of 50% of the service, or even four plans and be 100% covered? I need to have four molars "replaced" either via implant or bridge.
--------------------
Yes you can have two dental plans no problem. This would not be illegal. However, the insurance premium that you would pay for dental insurance is quite high and so you will have to calculate which is more cheaper - buying insurance or paying out of pocket to the dentist.

I need to find a cheap dental insurance that cover's most or all of fillings and extractions?

I need to find a cheap dental insurance that cover's most or all of fillings and extractions, we have no insurance. I am 18, i'm the one looking for one, my mom wants me to find a family plan ( mom 49, me 18, and sister 17). Can anyone help, we cannot find one :(
--------------------
You are not going to find any cheap insurances plans that cover almost all of fillings, BUT something you can check out is something called a Dental Discount Plan. They are very similar to dental insurance, and some of them can cut the price significantly. The best one in my opinion is one for www.1dental.com. Their plan starts immediately, they cut the price of fillings significantly (for most people over 50%), and they are very cheap to join ($6.95 for 1 person). But i recomend that over a dental isnurance, because with an insurance, you will have a waiting period where you cannot use the plan, they cost a lot more per month to have, and you have to pay a deductible before their plan kicks in to help you. so just check out a discount plan, you can also take a look at going to a dental school as well, sometimes they can do work for cheap, but they also sometimes have waiting periods. Anyway, i hope that helps.

Is dental included in child support/court ordered health insurance in Texas?

My daughter's father is dropping her from his dental insurance coverage. Is this ok?
--------------------
Read the court order. If dental coverage is required, he must include it. If the order does not specify that dental coverage must be included, he is not required to keep her on dental insurance.

Can anyone recommend a good dental insurance plan for implants?

I need about 20k of work in implants and cannot afford it. I need to find a good dental insurance plan that would provide some coverage to help me pay for this.
--------------------
Hi my name is Jeffery M Salerno DDS Unfortunately, there are very few insurance plans which offer implant coverage. Most insurance plans will pay for some of the restorations placed on the implants but do not cover the surgical placement of implants. Insurance plans usually have a max allowable payout per year. For example they will pay a percentage of the first 1000-2000$ depending on the plan and type of coverage. Any other work after that within a 12 month time period is out of pocket by the patient. I suggest looking into (Care Credit )or talking to your bank about a loan to cover the treatment you need. Good Luck

Where Can I find good dental insurance?

I need dental insurance that will cover oral surgery, as I have 2 ingrown wisdom teeth.
--------------------
Do you have medical insurance? In many cases, your medical insurance will pay for the extraction of wisdom teeth if done by an oral surgeon. If you have no medical insurance, then really all you can do is try plans such as Denticare, American Dental Plan or Ameriplan. There is no such thing as 'good' dental insurance unless you can get it through an employeer.

--------------------
You can only get Delta Dental through an employer. If you already have medical insurance, it will often pay for wisdom tooth removal if done through an oral surgeon. If you do not have it, then I would look at getting health insurance privately that covers it. There really are no 'good' private dental insurance companies... you could try Denticare, American Dental Plan or Ameriplan.

Do veterans still get dental insurance for a few months after discharged?

I heard I get dental insurance for 180 days or something after discharged. is this true?
--------------------
You get TAMP not sure if it covers dental you would have to call and find out. The four categories for TAMP are: § Members involuntarily separated from active duty and their eligible family members; § National Guard and Reserve members, collectively known as the Reserve Component (RC), separated from active duty after being called up or ordered in support of a contingency operation for an active duty period of more than 30 days and their family members; § Members separated from active duty after being involuntarily retained in support of a contingency operation and their family members; and § Members separated from active duty following a voluntary agreement to stay on active duty for less than one year in support of a contingency mission and their family members. Active duty sponsors and family members enrolled in TRICARE Prime who desire to continue their enrollment upon the sponsor's separation from active duty status are required to reenroll. To reenroll in TRICARE Prime, the sponsor or family member must complete and submit a TRICARE Prime enrollment application. Under TAMP, former active duty sponsors, former activated reservists, and family members of both are not eligible to enroll or reenroll in TRICARE Prime Remote or in TRICARE Prime Remote for Active Duty Family Members because both programs require the sponsor to be on active duty. Under the TAMP, the sponsor is no longer on active duty and is treated as an active duty family member for benefits and cost sharing purposes.

Do you get dental insurance from someone other than your job? Who do you get it from?

My husband's job offers health insurance but not dental. We need a good company with affordable monthly payments for us and our 2 kids. Thanks.
--------------------
Another alternative that you can use, is a PAO for your dental needs. I have a dental plan that is very affordable for my family. They have been around for 15 years and are the #1 Provider Access Organization in the U.S. It is only $19.95 for an entire household. There is no deductible or co-pay. Cosmetic procedures are covered. All specialists and braces. There are no caps or limits utilizing the benefits. The providers within the network are of high quality and value. Do your research at http://Stacie.OneSimpleCard.com . I hope this is helpful for you and your family.

Is it safe to pay for Dental insurance annually on your own instead of getting it through your job?

I have a job but they are not offering a good dental plan so I though I could go out on my own to get my own dental insurance, I am just a little skeptical of insurance companies what should I look for and is this even a good idea to pay on my own.

Can I use one of those dental discount plans along with regular dental insurance?

My dental insurance maxes out at $1,000 per year. Can I also use a dental discount plan at the same time? Will one of them pick up part of the tab for where the other one left off? (Does that make sense?)
--------------------
It depends. If you submit your own claims, you can use the second dental insurance. In other words, say your dental work would have cost $1,000. With your discount program, the dentist actually charges, say, $700. If you pay the $700 to him and submit the claim for reimbursement, you will get whatever benefits you are due under the insurance. Of course, it would be easier if the dentist would both give you the discount and submit the claim to the insurance company. Some dentists might do that, but I think a lot of them would say you are asking for too much, since he is not going to get as much from the insurance company as he would normally charge, and he is already giving you the discount. It doesn't hurt to ask, of course, but you should expect the dentist to decline that, and I wouldn't blame him.

is it beneficial to have dual dental insurance policies?

I'm going in for orthodontics, and my insurance only covers 2000 of the 5000 total. can i cover some of the ramianing costs by signing up for my wife's dental plan also? does snyone knwo how that works?
--------------------
It is apparent that Addie does not work in the insurance industry because that answer is misleading. Lori S. is pretty-much right. There is more to it than that, depending on your policy. I would read both dental certificates (yours and your wife's) under 'coordination of benefits' section and that should answer your question as to how it is specifically handled in your instance. There are too many variables in plans to be more specific than what Lori S. explained.

how to buy dental insurance for senior people?

Hi, I m trying to get my parents(over 60) health and dental insurance in Canada. I know the provincial health card only covers health problems, but not dental problems. what individual dental insurance is good?

We really need to get dental insurance that covers crowns, fillings, implants (may not be covered by most) and cleanings as well as other general dentistry. Help!
--------------------
By the time that kind of coverage kicks in, you're at least three years into the plan and have paid for well above full "retail" value of those treatments in premiums, plus whatever portion of the fee that the plan doesn't cover. You'll end up paying triple or quadruple for your dental work. For individuals it makes more sense to save some money every month instead, and use it to pay their own way. While some dental work is extremely expensive, cleanings, fillings, and so on are relatively affordable. It's just a matter of priority.
